A film that starts with the tale of repressed desire, and evolves into an unexpected meditation about life, death, love and compassion beyond boxes, and the preciousness of the limited time given to us. #Filmsky

unlabelledView post →Watched “Calle Malaga” the other day and enjoyed it. Critics who are characterising it as a “gentle feel good” movie are quite misreading the film. Like Touzani’s previous movie “The Blue Caftan” this is a passionate plea to not deny the humanity of people on the margins.

unlabelledView post →The Blue Caftan movie review: I thought both the caftan part and the relationship part were very interesting and well done. It kind of made me want a custom caftan. On one hand I loved his decision at the end, on the other, I feel like with her faith she would have preferred a traditional funeral
unlabelledView post →Yeah totally. Me too. (And The Blue Caftan is not even weird! If it had been an American film I’m convinced it would’ve won an Oscar. Or maybe it is too good for an Oscar.)

unlabelledView post →Very mediocre and not a step-up from Meryam Touzani's first feature which was also an okay film. The relationship between the three main characters wasn't dynamic or memorable. The moments when the film was trying to go deep with the relationship of the characters or their past didn't bring us closer to the characters. And I have to say that Loubna Azabal and Saleh Bakri Moroccan dialect isn't compelling and it was a barrier between us - the audience - and the characters.

The Blue Caftan is genuinely moving, and Lubna Azabal gives a beautifully-crafted performance. Go in knowing NOTHING.

To help meet the demands of his impatient customers, he has acquired an handsome apprentice "Youssef" (Ayoub Missioui) who takes a keen interest in his work and demonstrates an aptitude that is increasingly appreciated by "Halim".
