unlabelledView post →Can't honestly say The 355 is a good film, but if you feel like watching Jessica Chastain kick the crap out of some guy while wearing a fabulous evening gown, Lupita Nyong being a brilliantly British MI6 agent, or a lamp used as a deadly weapon, it has all those things.

Hmm...har jeg ikke sett dette plottet før, flere ganger? Tvisten i denne er at alle agentene er damer. Pene damer. Forøvrig er historien og filmen et salig rot.

unlabelledView post →Takes a special talent to make The 355. A movie with Jessica Chastain, Penelope Cruz, Lupita Nyong'o, and Fan Bingbing that manages to be completely unwatchable
unlabelledView post →i decided to do this myself since i never have i had to connect "the 355" a movie i have never heard of to the Del Toro Frankenstein, which i haven't watched yet i got it in four by pure unbridled luck and possibly a little bit of cheating lmao

And Sebastian Stan. Solid action flick. I enjoyed it enough to pick it up on BluRay www.imdb.com/title/tt8356...

unlabelledView post →Saw a Reddit about The Other Mommy that said “Jessica Chastain’s worst movie in a long time” and my only thought was Dark Phoenix, The 355, and Ava
unlabelledView post →I just saw those, including one saying it's Chastain's worst movie in a long time. It's going to take a lot to beat AVA, THE 355, and THE HUNTSMAN: WINTER'S WAR in terms of awfulness, but stranger things have happened.
unlabelledView post →Have you wondered "What if 'Joe Dirt' was about a woman"? Well, that movie is 2008's "Jolene." I gave it 1 star on @letterboxd.social because of Chastain, which is also what I gave "The 355." In both cases that feels too high.
unlabelledView post →An example, by the way, of how rapidly dated a movie can become: One of the Evil Warlords who attended the Super Secret Gathering Of Evil Warlords in #The355, a movie made in 2019/2020, was introduced by one protagonist as someone who wanted to shut down the Persian Gulf and make a killing in the oil markets. Today, we call xem #DonaldJTrump and whoever is making those conveniently timed moves in oil futures. #TrumpWar #FIFAWorldWar

unlabelledView post →Backgrounding "The 355" as I work on my graphic novel and this film is hit and miss, but this line was great: "How'd you know my name?" "We're SPIES, asshole!"
unlabelledView post →Now my cürsed brain is thinking about how Tomb Raider, Ava, The Rhythm Section, The 355, and The Protege couldn’t launch any their stars into huge action movie success or chains of sequels, despite all being very good. Tomb Raider even crushed the box office, but the sequel got canned by covid.
unlabelledView post →Just finished The 355, which was ok, could have been better, but the ending really does make me want more. Also, gotta enjoy a film whose entire plot leads to a woman saying "I poisoned you 'cause you mansplained me."

unlabelledView post →Slick and unengaging The execution is lovely, but there is no fun, no depth, and no real likability here. The characters are too similar, too badly written, and have not enough development to be interesting. The plot is very run-of-the-mill and that can certainly work, if your characters are interesting. These really really aren't. It is not worth the time.

unlabelledView post →#The355 did not start well. Tip to directors: Don't have your lead actor change wigs and makeup and costume from scene to scene, do MTV-style rapid-cut editing, and then expect your viewers to follow along. It settled into a pretty conventional formula after a while, a cross between every Jason Statham movie and Charlie's Angels with a little spy movie thrown in. Yes, conventional. We've been in a world where women have been the spy/assassin characters for a fair while, now. Take away the…

unlabelledView post →I really hated The 355 on first watch. It's a bit better on second watch, but you just can't shake the thought that, to be the film it claims to be, Diane or Lupita should've been the lead, not the Hillary type broad who storms their way, make them collateral damage & insist they say "I'm with her."

unlabelledView post →We watched a film on Netflix last night called The 355, an all-female Bond/M:I knock-off. We were in the mood for what gets called ‘mindless entertainment’, but this… wasn’t even *mindless*. It was what then? Thoughtless, perhaps? idea-less? Pointless, certainly. Scriptless, also.
unlabelledView post →Watched The 355 with Juliet this evening. We really enjoyed it, a solid spy action movie with a fantastic cast, and very well done set pieces. Not life changing or anything, but a better story with better performances than most blockbusters. I wish it had done better.

unlabelledView post →While The 355 might not have been a stand-out blockbuster of a film, it still was enjoyable. The 355 hit almost every line of dialogue and every typical character type you have seen in a spy movie but still found a way to entertain its audience, even if it was only slightly entertaining. The cast was stellar, and the performances were solid. Unfortunately, the 355 stumbles with a stale, unimaginative script that is incredibly predictable and keeps the peril and danger from feeling very perilous…
