positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →everyone is excited for the ELDEN RING DLC (i am also incredibly excited...) but first i'm going to be all about STILL WAKES THE DEEP, a narrative based horror game that's like THE THING but on a lonely scottish oil rig in the north sea, during a 70's Christmas. I am very excited.

Still Wakes The Deep Currently working on a video review of this, but let's just say this has perhaps some of the best voice acting I've heard in a game, a narrative focused horror game where the tension just keeps ramping up, elevated by incredible audio. store.steampowered.com/app/1622910/...

unlabelledView post →A good idea that deserved to either be a limited series, or a survival horror sandbox - but not this janky, mismatched, extremely short yet shockingly repetitive mess. Still Wakes The Deep had an awesome pre-release minigame named Oil Strike '75 that I didn't even know existed until the credits rolled on the finished game, including mention of it. Oil Strike '75, a retro minigame collection and teletext emulator full of secrets, presented as a sort of self-contained ARG, is a significantly…

unlabelledView post →Drowning in silence and panic This game gave me that same kind of feeling I had while playing SOMA and Observation. Not exactly the same in terms of story, but close enough in terms of atmosphere and the way it messes with your head. First of all, this is a Lovecraftian horror game. Its about surviving, walking, and just… experiencing what’s happening around you. And honestly? That’s where this game shines the most. The atmosphere is insane. Like actually insane. You’re stuck in the middle…

Still Wakes the Deep I've had absolutely glowing things to say about this, if you want to hear an in-depth essay about the game check my pinned post for my vid about it, but Still Wakes is a shorter narrative horror game with seriously incredible voice acting and immaculately realized setting.

unlabelledView post →The price to play is cheaper than a movie ticket and it turned out to be more fun: good level design, a linear walking simulator with a basic story but with good graphics and outstanding set design. Although it's not replayable, if you like Walking Simulators: it's worth playing once.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I know Still Wakes the Deep is going to be a good horror game because one of the first objectives involves swapping a fuse on a power box.
unlabelledView post →There are some really good things to say about this game, but my overall experience wasn't that great. Firstly, the game has very high fidelity visuals and feels very believable. If you like realistic games, then this will appeal to you. The atmosphere was strong, the places were believable, and the visual representation of the threat was interesting, but overall the visuals lacked any sort of identity. It felt very real, but not very enticing. It felt like accuracy was held higher than making…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Well, there are more reviews than I can count so I will just say that I really enjoyed this game. I played it in "Story" mode which makes it workable for those who are not chase/stealth buffs. The rig has been created in incredible detail and is awesome to explore. Although the DLC is interesting and poignant after playing the base game, it was not my favorite. Swimming in cramped quarters was not as fun (for me) as exploring the huge rig and interacting with interesting characters along the…

unlabelledView post →Overall I enjoyed my time streaming Planet of Lana today. Artstyle is stunning, music is lovely. I felt it dragged quite a bit towards the end and could've done with being shorter. Still, a nice game. Will review soon, need to finish my Still Wakes the Deep one first! ✨

I got so intrigued by the story and the whole setting It's very atmospheric and digs into your heart I appreciated that there are no wrong ways, the game somehow tells you where to go... well, even then sometimes it isn't exactly clear where to go next but you'll figure it out pretty fast No fights, just hiding (I played in Story…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Still Wakes The Deep is a fantastic psychological horror experience that I just could not put down. I loved every moment of playing this game. Lets talk pros and cons: Pros: Graphics - The game is gorgeous. Truly incredible level of detail, sometimes nearly photo realistic when it comes to the enviornments. The game features some great detail that is sometimes lacking in the character department (there are moments the textures get muddy for some odd reason, even when close to the…

unlabelledView post →This game feels exactly like if Lovecraft’s “The Color Out of Space” and Carpenter’s “The Thing” crashed into each other on a Scottish oil rig in the middle of the North Sea. This should be a movie. 10/10. Cons: Optimization is pretty rough though, stutters and frame drops even on decent hardware, and the DLC feels totally unnecessary.

unlabelledView post →I originally added this game to my wishlist thinking it was something to do with Cthulu but after playing the game a couple times to the point of one hundred percenting it, it's safe to say i have no bloody idea what the hell the "antagonist" is. But what i can say, is that it is a really really great walking simulator, not only does it keep you on your toes practically the whole time, but it's also filled with emotional story that's genuinely story-rich. Great progression. Great Voice…

unlabelledView post →As a fan of the writing in Amnesia: A Machine for Pigs, I was excited to get to play through another game by The Chinese Room. While I was very impressed with the game's presentation (which was honestly good enough to recommend picking this up when on sale), I was ultimately disappointed with the game's plot and narrative. The environmental work is seriously a triumph. It's very clear A LOT of work was put into researching these industrial behemoths, and it pays off. Every pipe, tank,…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Still Wakes the Deep is a great horror game because it manages to flawlessly capture the way that Gaelic people are both incredibly strong and persevering and also INCREDIBLY neurotic
unlabelledView post →I finished the game, the graphics was very impressive, the voice acting was amazing, and atmosphere was very solid. however, the story felt pretty normal and as a horror game it didn't scare me at all and no jump scares. not a bad game but nothing exceptional either.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game is like if the movie "The Thing" happened on an oil rig. Yes, if you've seen the movie, you already have a pretty good idea of what will happen. Does this diminish the enjoyment of playing the game? I would say 50/50. It's definitely not a hardcore horror game. The game strikes a good balance between a vivid protagonist, exploring the environment and overcoming obstacles, hiding from monsters, and the lingering uncertainty of how it will all end. The game takes about 7 hours to…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →One of the best voice acting i've ever heard, feels incredibly realistic as well as the actually setting and design of the oil rig. Well worth playing.

unlabelledView post →The Chinese Room They first released Dear Esther which was an exploration game played from the first person. Amnesia: A Machine for Pigs was a nice surprise from the studio given the new genre (horror) and also that it was a sort of indirect sequel to Amnesia. It had simplified mechanics (no longer did we need to look for oil or tinderboxes as we had an electric lantern throughout the game). It was focusing on immersion. Then came Everybody's Gone to the Rapture which was once again a game…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Obvious and full of cliches, but cool The game is scary, despite being an obvious The Thing kind of thing The visuals only make sense with RT, on low graphics it's flat and not scary Scottish accent makes the game 10 times better Aye, mates! unlabelledView post →Only 6hrs to complete. Really enjoyable game. Some people complain that it's too short, but it's not the size, it's what you do with it. Probably the best voice acting I've seen in a game. Tragic, funny, heartbreaking. Give it a go. "Remember... Jesus Loves You Caz. Everyone Else Thinks You're A C*nt."

unlabelledView post →Eh, wanted to like it, but ultimately found it mostly boring. Its more of a walking simulator than anything else. I like horror, love ocean/water related themes, which this game honestly did not use nearly as much of as I would have thought, and the parts it did use were shallow and boring. I think I would have had a better time watching this game than playing it. I think a movie would have been a better medium. Past 50%, I was just waiting for it to end. There is basically no mechanics…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →OSHA simulator. Game starts out with great potential. Great setting good visuals, but cannot deliver. Horror elements are lacking. The game is too linear and predictable. Gameplay is not exactly engaging. All those jumping and holding on stuff gets real boring and frustrating after a while. Game is not horrible but not good either. Just meh.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Great short quick horror game (about 4-5 hours) with some nice stealth moments. Voice acting is superb, automsphere is top notch with the genre, but the story does have cliches. Even better if you get this on a sale. Highly recommend it and also I highly recommend headphones!
