51 of 51 · most liked firstI bought this on itch.io, then bought it here again just to leave a review and... I ended up playing it again. This is clearly the best interactive comic I ever read. Not game, mind you, interactive comic. While there are interactions (thus the "interactive") they are not "options" like you usually see in visual novels. There are no consequences to your choices because there are no choices. HOWEVER : these interactions are not gimmicky AT ALL, they really are meaningful in ways I can't…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A pretty neat example of how user interaction can really enhance a graphic novel. However, sadly, there is very little music and sound effects, meaning there's often jarring silence that feels like a wasted opportunity
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A stunning interactive comic. Literally missed the credits because it made me cry, which I think is the highest praise I can give it.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I feel a bit harsh saying this, but I guess I just didn't feel like I got emotionally involved in the story at any point which I feel like is the most important part for a comic like this. It feels a bit rushed out in the end and I don't feel like I connected much with the protagonist. It also feels like things just kind of happen conveniently such as the protagonist meeting Mariam. That being said I do think the little gimmicks that come to play when going through the comic were cute and I…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →what the hell was this garbage I just sat thru? a lesbian that thinks she can shoot electricity from her fingers?? game is about a lesbian who finds a lover after the male dudes in her life abandon her. Hard pass!!!
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →really great, i wish there was music but that's my only con with it. really beautiful writing, art and a fantastic spin on a comic update: i realized at the end that there was music, i just accidentally had it off. scratch that sorry!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I think this comic is good for the price but I can't say I enjoyed it. The story felt like it was trying too hard to be emotional which made it not work for me, also there were multiple points where characters were mad at the main character for no understandable reason. There is a moment like this with the main characters future girlfriend which made it hard to root for them considering it was one of their only scenes.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →What an amazing digital comic - It pulled me into the story right away. I really liked Emeline as a character, her feelings and thoughts were wonderfully portrayed through the graphics and audio, so you could really empathise with her. Although it was silent most of the time - but the silence suited the story well - the sounds came at just the right time. I really enjoyed the hour (i played around 45 minutes) of the game and couldn't stop admiring the artwork - beautifully done, moving and…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I won't spoil anything, but you'll come away with life lessons about dreams vs. reality, which I would soon find to be an intentional and well-informed decision seeing the namedrops at the end credits.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Utterly charming, a breath of fresh air. A quick half-an-hour read for me - as a fast reader - and while the whole story was so SATISFYINGLY wrapped up that I don't really wish for it to keep going beyond that, I still feel the itch of wanting to stay in Emeline's world just a little longer. All her emotions and struggles felt so real! An amazing piece of art. A comic that understands perfectly how to take advantage of a video game format, but still - a comic, with very little animation. It…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I have been down for a few months now. Nothing seemed to help me, interest me, or distract me. And yet I have desided to play this game. And oh my. It was an experience. Even though it did not take me long to complete it, which by itself was exactly what I needed- something not huge to pull me out of this vicious cycle, to make me feel human again. And this game succedded to do so. I am so thankful. After all, it is our choice to be a hero, even without any superpowers, just staying present…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Had me tearing up at the end. Also a very neat way to tell a story. I read a lot of VNs, but this is probably my first time reading an interactive comic, and I really enjoyed it.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I stumbled on Still Heroes by chance. I had never heard of it before, and when buying it I thought I was signing up for an enjoyable experience that I would soon forget. This is not what I got. At all. Still Heroes. Blew. My. Mind. Maybe it is the fact that I don't read a lot of interactive comic, maybe everything that appeared to me as genius in Still Heroes is common practice in the genre. But I would have a hard time believing so. Don't buy this on sale. Pay the full price. It is worth…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →If you change, let it be your choice. Not something you’re pressured into by time, society, or disappointment. A short digital comic with interactive elements that tells the story of a hero named Emeline. This a good value when picked up on sale. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3778666615 https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails?id=3617176113 https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails?id=3617176315
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A great interactive comic with a few sounds and some details you have to activate to go through the story. The writing is beautiful, the art work is gorgeous, it's well designed, and I can't say much more without spoilers. Some would consider the overall silence as a downside but it's part of the experience to me: it's an interactive comic you're reading, not a visual novel. It acts as well. Loved it and might come back to it someday like a good short book you would read again for your own…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A short, lovely game with a beautiful and touching story, and a little bit of interactability to spice things up. And I really like the simpler, yet charming art style. However, the sound design could've been wider. There is a sound effect here and there and a little music sometimes which is very nice to hear, but the majority of the game is dead silent.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I enjoyed this minimalist interactive comic, especially the moments that felt like they wouldn't be possible in a traditional comic. This isn't a flashy choose-your-own-adventure kind of interactive comic: it's a slower, more introspective story. If that sounds like your kind of thing, check this out.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A great story; it's a linear kinetic novel, but I didn't expect how much interaction I actually would have with the story. Those interactions were pretty cleverly implemented, and definitely a richer experience than just hitting spacebar page after page. From the clicking to the typing, you felt like you were living her life. In that respect, It did a good job driving home the monotony of Emeline's life at times. Interactions were pretty honest and occasionally brutal, which just served to…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →the stuff with the dad got to me, there were a few tears
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I'm a quick reader so I managed to finish this in about 30 minutes. It was an nice read. There's not much interaction here, quick click here and there but I don't really think that's entirely a bad thing. There's a few meaning you could catch out of this one but for me I think it's this: Passion and hope come with vulnerability, loneliness, and uncertainty. And I think that was worth the 30 minutes. Games should have the power to change us if we let them. And I think Still Heroes had more of…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Still Heroes developed by exaheva and published by Plug In Digital is an unconventional narrative experience that blends elements of interactive comics, visual storytelling, and light gameplay interaction. Rather than relying on traditional game mechanics such as combat, puzzles, or exploration, the title focuses on emotional storytelling delivered through animated comic panels and subtle player interaction. The result is a short but thoughtful experience that explores themes of identity,…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A short and tender comic that left me tearing up at the end. The controls are simple and efficient, and I was able to figure out the interactive portions with provided indicators. It took me about thirty minutes to reach the end and the pace is measured, though the lower points of the plot may make it feel slower (appropriately, in my opinion). I love how the narrative relies on what is unspoken as much as verbal interaction, and I could feel Emeline's internal conflict like my own. I'm so glad…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Very nice Bande Dessinee. I wish it was a little longer. Finished in 2 short sittings.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A 40 minute experience that is both humbling and hopeful. I highly recommend. Hopefully there will be more interactive comics like this!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Love the art style. But I didn't understand the story. There was lack of context too, why did her powers suddenly disappear? Was it in her head?
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Good little short and sweet interactive comic! It took me 35 minutes to go through, so you can squeeze it in you schedule quite easily, like a little something before dinner or after bed, etc. The interactive part of it was fun. Don't be mistaken, there are no choices to make. I liked that the interactions keep our attention at all times. I wish it was a bit longer and developped the story a bit more. I didn't really get attached to any of the characters (including the main one). It was…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →a short but nice story with an interesting art style. the clicking on certain scenes to progress the story made it interactive which was a plus.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →very well written glad I experienced this
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Interesting. A little too rushed, a little too heavy on melodrama, but I am still glad that I've played it.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Short, but beautiful. The interactive parts, the piano, the music, i've loved it all and thoroughly
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →not bad, maybe it just needs more audio, because sometimes there was a bit too much silence for a moment
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Unique and emotional
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Cute little visual novel/interactive comic. The first half is a bit infuriating because I couldn't stand the main character, but the payoff at the end makes it worth it to get through. Also, the art and style of the game is great and makes for an enjoyable experience. Obviously a lot of heart went into this project. Worth the thirty minute playthrough!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →41 minutes well spent. i love you emeline from still heroes
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →So this is and interesting take on interactive media. This is not a game, this is a comic that takes about 30-60 minutes to read thorough and has some interactive points that has the player clicking on screen or "typing" to progress through the story. It is nothing ground breaking but does do the interactive part well without feeling too cumbersome, or gimmicky. The best part of this experience is 100% the art as its detail an meaning is really well displayed. I also thing the dialogue was well…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I really like how it manages to pack so much in such a short period of time. I really like the themes presented in the story. I randomly found this game while browsing and I'm glad I chose to play it.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Visuals are awesome and even though I get the idea behind it, I didn’t like the ending at all. I was really enjoying it but the ending completely f*cked up the experience.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A very beautiful visual novel / interactive comic, with great drawing and story. Nom di djû valet qué bea jeu toi, nos Liégeois(e)s ont du talent ! Èco’ne fèye po n’nin l’roûvî, allons Lîdje !
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Very nice little interactive comic! I definitely would recommend picking this up, especially since it seems to fairly regularly go on sale for less than a dollar. I'm a big comic/graphic novel reader, and it's really fun having those interactive details, which really just add to the story. I will say I wish this had a little more depth to the characters. I wish we found out more about the other two heroes our main character was working with at the start and why they behaved the way they…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Me ha gustado mucho, una buena historia y bastante emotiva. Es un comic, así que las interacciones son escasas, y no hay cambios en la historia, no hay decisiones que tomar.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →As has been mentioned in other reviews, this is an interactive comic. It's not truly a game. It felt like I was reading one of the webcomics I used to read a LOT of back in the day. I didn't connect with it. I paid less than a dollar for it, so I'm not bothered. I'll keep it without regret. It's rather short, though I'm not bothered by how short it is. My gripes are that the story didn't really develop very far. I didn't connect because I wasn't with any of the characters long enough to…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A small game with big feelings :)
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Sadly in real life there arent any happy endings. If things suck they just suck.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →short but poignant. it's a simple visual novel with some interactivity. the art style is cute, but i recommend purchasing the game on sale since i finished my 1st playthrough in 30 mins.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Very nice experience, recommended!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Oh wow, this might just be the cutest thing I've ever read! Wish it had a bit more background music but the comic was great, the interactive parts were fun and the story was so cute and emotional. Can we have this as a TV series, pleeease?
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →THIS COMIC IS FIRE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Still Heroes is a heartfelt short, digital comic book where we follow Emeline who is trying to grasp her dream of continuing to be a superhero while everyone around her wants to move on to something different with their life. The reasoning for why Emeline still wants to be a superhero isn't explored or really the focal point of the story but more so used as a piggyback of 'non-mudnane' jobs or hobbies people want to do but being alone on the journey, (or so I like to think being a superhero in…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Except by the brutal silence, that I can understand why was chosen (besides I don't like it), I thought the experience amazing! Very good story!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This got incredibly sad, incredibly fast. I recommend it to everyone who wants their heart broken quickly. Also, I really enjoyed the way the game - or rather the story - is played. The little mechanics really added a lot to the feel of the game, and made it seem really personal :)
