Raimi is back at the top of his game with his best film since SPIDER-MAN 2. And Rachel is having the time of her life and fucking crushing it. Put her in everything! So glad to see this big & loud.

unlabelledView post →Rewatched SPIDER-MAN 2 last night and I think what made that era of superhero films so different (beyond actual framing, composition, lighting, editing, etc.) is that the film is littered with Regular Human Beings around the main characters that make the worlds feel authentic and lived in.
unlabelledView post →"I will not die a monster." Alfred Molina's nuanced performance as Doc Ock in Spider-Man 2 may very well be the chief reason as to why it's my favorite superhero movie.
unlabelledView post →James Gunn spinning mad plates with SUPERMAN. Shatters a bit of china, but it's so joyous and kind that you happily excuse the mess. Best superhero movie since SPIDER-MAN 2.

unlabelledView post →I've said this over on the bad place before, but: between Darkman, Spider-Man, and Spider-Man 2, Sam Raimi essentially created the blueprint for the modern superhero movie. an ideal that many aspire to but seldom achieve.
unlabelledView post →It's a testament to the dire state of popular media that in a recent post I remarked about being into slutty DILFs and literally the only genuine example in mainstream film that anyone in the replies could come up with was Doctor Octopus from "Spider-Man 2" (2004).

unlabelledView post →I don't need to recommend this because it's every American's patriotic duty to see a new Spider-Man movie anyway.* But I did see it this morning & liked it. Reminded me of Raimi's Spider-Man 2, and I feel pretty sure it was supposed to. * sarcasm, don't come in here and argue with me, please

unlabelledView post →Reading unproduced movie scripts can be pretty fun sometimes, as they reveal a lot about the nature of filmmaking. Like David Koepp’s first draft for Spider-Man 2 being mostly unused aside from a few lines, but also chunks of it eventually going into the Amazing Spider-Man movies
unlabelledView post →One thing I enjoy about this site is that I have yet to see anyone try to proclaim that some old dogshit Marvel film from 1-2 decades ago like The Amazing Spider-Man 2 or any Fantastic Four movie is some secret masterpiece, because the person making said claim has a vendetta against the MCU.

unlabelledView post →What movie did you rewatch the most during its initial theater release? For me: No contest. Raiders. My all-time fave. Empire: I was primed for multiple rewatches. Spider-Man 2: I was an adult w/ a bank account + it was Spider-Man 2. Spider-Verse: AMC Stubs + skin in the game. 5th place: Star Wars.

unlabelledView post →Honestly, Spider-Man 3 can't be the best Spider-Man movie so long as the Spider-Verse movies exist, but Spider-Man 3 IS better than Spider-Man 2.
unlabelledView post →Spider-Man 2 was straightforwardly the best of the early wave of Marvel superhero adaptations. It is, by any measure, a good film. Is it actually better than Spider-Verse 1? I'm skeptical!
unlabelledView post →Deeply underrated joke in a movie is how in Spider-Man 2 Dr. Octavius tells Peter girls love when you recite poetry and so when Mary Jane gets mad at him he just starts reciting The Song of Hiawatha like it's a trigger phrase

unlabelledView post →Sony is a company that has been run by complete morons since day one. Comic fans and Film twitter give them the benefit of the doubt because they made Spider-Man 2 20 years ago, forgetting how badly they fucked over Raimi while making 3, and then doing the exact same shit to Webb 5 years later
unlabelledView post →the scene in Spider-Man 2 when Octavius wakes up in the hospital is still one of the greatest sequences of superhero film ever created and it's because Sam Raimi isn't a fuckin coward
unlabelledView post →I saw Spider-Man 2, a film that is 90% angst and 10% amazing train fight scene, at 15, which is the perfect time to enjoy a Spider-Man film. It had a Dashboard Confessional song during the end credits for god's sake. Aunt May's monologue about heroism still makes me cry.
unlabelledView post →One of the reasons Spider-Man 2 is a damn good movie, and one of the best super hero movies, is that it’s a Sam Raimi movie. Letting director’s put their stamp on the movie they’re making is good, actually.
unlabelledView post →Happy 21st birthday to Spider-Man 2 (2004). My favorite Spider-Man movie of all time 😁🕷🕸 Still a masterpiece after all this time 😊💖
unlabelledView post →So first things first, bullshit. Second, when Endgame first released it was back in theaters a few months later with some extra scenes including an unfinished Hulk scene. Spider-Man No Way Home also had a theatrical release called "The More Fun Stuff" version that came out a few months later. So this isn't exactly new, but still stupid. I know going way back the second Sam Raimi Spider-Man had a special DVD release know as "Spider-Man 2.1", but theater versus DVD is a huge difference.
