Speed 2: Cruise Control
A disgruntled former employee hijacks the Seabourn Legend cruise liner. Set on a fixed course, without any means of communication and at the mercy of the hijacker, it's up to the one cop on vacation and his soon to be fiancé (hopefully) Annie to regain control of it before it kills the passengers and causes an environmental disaster. Insurmountable and daunting tasks await them on their perilous journey throughout… From TMDB

unlabelledView post →Happy #LetterboxdFriday! My #lastfourwatched are all influenced by the fact that my 5 year old picks everything now. Frankenweenie was cute and surprisingly violent, Speed 2 is fascinatingly bad, and Spider-Man 3 deserves a second look. fuck that dogs purpose movie though, ontologically evil flick
unlabelledView post →My friends and I often refer to the "Speed 2 effect." Ebert had the only positive review of that movie. If you read it, he describes a really pleasant summer day where he watched a stupid movie in an air conditioned theater with a cold drink and warm popcorn. Sometimes it just be like that.
unlabelledView post →#LetterboxdFriday #lastfourwatched 📽️ Haven’t watched much as I was on a cruise last week (hence needing to watch Speed 2 and Titanic on the plane over). Wicked was playing on the ship, and Limelight was the film for the flight home! @letterboxd.social boxd.it/1LxY3

unlabelledView post →I can still remember what it felt like watching Speed 2 in the cinema, like someone put salt in my fuel tank. Keanu was wise to jump that ship, how can you make a film about speed on a boat that never goes above 18mph?
unlabelledView post →It wasn't clear to me until I watched the film last night that Speed 2: Cruise Control is not, in fact, an action film, but a romcom in which Sandra Bullock goes on the Worst Date Ever but tries to make a decent fist of it all the same. Would recommend! Also it has Lucy from Twin Peaks in it.
unlabelledView post →Watching Speed 2: Cruise Control for the first time and… …I’m so confused. And I don’t understand why I’m confused, and I don’t *like* that I’m confused because this is a sequel to a movie about a 💣 on a bus, and idk which is more ridiculous: the plot or my confusion by it.

unlabelledView post →Speed 2 is a fascinating movie because i cannot think of another sequel that: only follows the deuteragonist, changes the format so much it might as well just be a new movie. There's no hostages on the boat and the boat can never run into LA traffic so there's no stakes. Who cares how fast a boat is
unlabelledView post →I wanted to watch Die Hard, my partner wanted to watch a Sandra Bullock film so somehow I’m rewatching Speed 2 for the second time this year. First time was on the flight to our cruise in summer. But hey, on the very rare occasion he actually wants to watch a film, who am I to judge? (I am judging)

Both Bruce Willis and filmmaker John McTiernan thought it was so bad they refused to do the movie. It sat on the shelf for a few years before it was recycled as the sequel to Speed. #filmsky

unlabelledView post →Oh sure, Robert Wise was talented and respected, but could he have made a movie like Speed 2: Cruise Control? 😁
unlabelledView post →I can't believe this was the last movie he made before SPEED 2 killed his career like the bolt gun from No Country For Old Men
unlabelledView post →Speed 2 was a faulty sequel not because it was a bad movie, but because they went from the main character being a bus to a cruise ship. That's too big. It should have been a series about progressively larger vehicles. Not doing so killed the franchise
unlabelledView post →Speed 2. It is the only movie I've rented that I stopped watching in the first 20 minutes and returned to the video store. I *detest* that shaky-cam bullshit.

My top 5 comfort 🎞️s to watch while marking are (don’t ask me why, they just are): 1) Speed 2) Scream 3) The Devil Wears Prada 4) Die Hard 4 5) Black Panther

unlabelledView post →It’s a very good “dumb” movie, but it was probably an absolutely MISERABLE movie to make. Then SPEED 2 happened and de Bont nearly killed several people, including his star, and wrecked a whole lot of other things. Yeah, he needed to be put into director jail.

unlabelledView post →With #KPopDemonHunters being so popular right now, I do have to ask... Is the sequel (which I heard is in the works) going to be as good as Terminator 2, or will it be as crappy as Speed 2? Also, even if others may not like the movie, will the fans be, um, respectful to them?
unlabelledView post →Lazynets. The crappy film Speed 2 (1997) had this device being used through a D-Sub connector to hack the ship. We've been trying to work out whether this was a PDA from the period or just a non-functional prop. It's the wrong shape for a Newton, could be a Palm. Any ideas?
unlabelledView post →I read an absolutely wonderful book today called Box Office Poison, which was about some of the most notorious flops in Hollywood. Most of the usual suspects(Intolerance, Nothing But Trouble, Cutthroat Island, Speed 2 for starters) were there. But there was also a movie I'd never heard of called
unlabelledView post →Watching Speed 2. It's a movie about two absolute lunatics on a cruise: one who's an adrenaline junkie who chases his high as LAPD SWAT, and one who's so oblivious to things around her that she waves a chainsaw at ppl's faces and blows red lights like they don't exist. And they're dating.
unlabelledView post →Speed 2: Cruise Control sounds like an underground anti-Scientology film about Tom Cruise. 🤣
unlabelledView post →It’s like that movie Speed 2, except instead of being on a boat, it’s on a bus.
