unlabelledView post →Do the dead have a right to not be eaten? Do the living have a right to survive? Cannibalism movies get thoughtful with Netflix's Society of the Snow. Here's my review
unlabelledView post →These two scenes from Alive (1993) and Society of the Snow (2023), are illustrative, I think, of just how much brighter movies used to be.

unlabelledView post →I have a flight tomorrow, and @nachochip.bsky.social decides for our movie night we’re watching Society of the Snow… a movie about a plane crash that left the survivors no choice but cannibalism. Thanks 🫠
unlabelledView post →Watched a few amazing films lately actually: The Substance, The Menu, Society of the Snow The worst I’ve seen recently was some terrible generic ‘’’’spooky’’’’ film written by Wentworth Miller called The Disappointments Room. Heinous

unlabelledView post →#bales2025filmchallenge - movie that takes place in nature. Society of the Snow (2023) One of the best movies of 2023. Nature can be cruel.
unlabelledView post →Watched Society of the Snow Probably the most tense survival film i have seen, which makes sense given it is based on a true story. It's direction, cast and writing really shows the serious danger of the environment while showing hope through the actions of the characters.
unlabelledView post →I don't mind really stupid ideas if it's fun but this isn't fun. If you want to watch a survival film about a plane crash just watch Society of the Snow, sure, no sharks but there is cannibalism!
unlabelledView post →Not all incredible true stories make for incredible movies. Case in point: SOCIETY OF THE SNOW, which is better than ALIVE but still not as gripping as you'd expect. My full review for Digital Trends: www.digitaltrends.com/movies/socie...
unlabelledView post →J. A. Bayona's film SOCIETY OF THE SNOW is an intense, affecting experience about the 1972 Andes plane crash (already dramatised in 1993 as ALIVE; nb this film is better). Some reviewers complain it's too long, but it's exactly as long as it needs to be. www.theguardian.com/world/2023/d...

unlabelledView post →Saw tim again last night and I got to slag off my dad in front of 1000 people and he said I need to watch Society Of The Snow and start a movie podcast with him. Stay tuned

unlabelledView post →It's excellent. I saw Alive years ago and I'd read a book by one of the survivors (Nando Parrado). The film never came close to covering what they went through, and it's also pretty shoddily made. Society of the Snow was the exact opposite.

unlabelledView post →Movie 7/2024: Society of the Snow. Hard not to admire this movie. There’s a short docu on netflix too on ‘the making of’ which is really fascinating. If you wonder how they filmed the crash and the avalanche, you definitely need to look at that too! Powerful. ⭐️⭐️⭐️
unlabelledView post →Just watched Society of the Snow on Netflix. Oh my god, what an amazing film. So much better than Alive. Emotional, breathtaking, tragic, and beautiful. https://www.netflix.com/gb/title/81268316?s=i&trkid=258593161&vlang=en
unlabelledView post →Movie night 🌙 🎬 Society Of The Snow 😀🍺
unlabelledView post →Was reluctant to see SOCIETY OF THE SNOW because bleak snowy conditions, nope (plus that other thing, YUCK), but gotta say, two thumbs up. A sincere movie featuring young men with no hint of toxic masculinity, and the survival isn't framed as a victory? A Hollywood movie could never pull that off.
unlabelledView post →Book 2: Alive by Piers Paul Read. Excellent, gripping story. I already knew a bit about this from the Casting Lots podcast, but I still couldn't put the book down. Everyone tells me I need to watch the Society of the Snow movie about it, so that's on the list.
unlabelledView post →Probably my least favorite movie genre is Survival films. Currently watching Society of the Snow which is probably one of the best made in this genre and it still sucks to watch
unlabelledView post →Both this and Society of the Snow show a thing I'd never seen in a movie crash which is the carnage of the seats jamming forward and smashing everyone to bits
unlabelledView post →I realized this when I watched Society of the Snow (devastating film! Highly recommend!), and I had a visceral reaction. DO NOT WANT.
unlabelledView post →New Review! SOCIETY OF THE SNOW tells the story of the 1972 Uruguayan plane crash in the Andes Mountains, previously documented in the 1993 American film ALIVE. This is a much, much better film and, admittedly, not for the faint of heart and now on Netflix. www.shouldiseeit.net/reviews/2024...
unlabelledView post →Watching Society of the Snow on Netflix and does every survival film have the scene where they sit around talking about the food back home?
unlabelledView post →Today's final note. I watched Society of the Snow two days ago, and it hasn't left my mind since. It has to be the best film I've seen in a long time. I knew about the Andes flight disaster since I was a child... it is not about the cannibalism that took place. It's about strength in friendship.
unlabelledView post →About to put on the movie Alive. I need a story of hope. Society of the Snow is more accurate but this one is on Prime which I have right now.
unlabelledView post →I met Enzo Vogrincic.. You may remember Society Of The Snow movie directed by J.A Bayona… Of course i mentioned I loved Bayona works with Keane 🫣 What a sweet guy!!!
unlabelledView post →My picks for 3 fave stories focussed on cannibalism would probs be Cormac McCarthy's 'The Road' (book & film), the film 'Bones & All' and the documentary film 'Society of the Snow'. Though the 'Hannibal' TV show and 'Fresh' movie were also strong contenders. #MorbidImagining
unlabelledView post →The plane crash in the movie Society of the Snow takes the cake for me! It’s on Netflix and 100% worth a watch
unlabelledView post →Sorry Society of the Snow- but I think this might be my new favourite movie from 2024; it was so much fun to watch.

unlabelledView post →Not horror in the classic sense but the one that’s been unable to leave my head since I’ve watched it is actually Society of the Snow. Most folks are familiar with the (true) story, but the film brings it to life in such a visceral way. It’s absolutely chilling (pun intended I guess)
unlabelledView post →Society of the Snow has become my Roman Empire. It's been so long since a movie was so good, or approached telling the story of an event in such a unique and exceptional way, that I literally can't stop thinking about it
unlabelledView post →Society of the Snow was a gut wrenching watch. I've seen the Ethan Hawke movie and went down a rabbit hole in the 90s but they managed to floor me with this one. I even heard it was made with the blessing and in collab with the survivors and their families. Great movie.
unlabelledView post →Cannot recommend the Society of the Snow enough. The amount of details and accurate info they managed to cram into this movie is amazing. A fascinating true story!
unlabelledView post →SOCIETY OF THE SNOW (2023) A powerful but devastating film about the Uruguayan rugby team that crashed in the Andes. It's a harrowing tale of survival that feels very respectful of the victims and the survivors. #365Movies 4

unlabelledView post →Society of the Snow ★★★ Has many of the same virtues and issues as the previous film; 1993's Alive. While being in Spanish lends immediate verisimilitude, the film struggles (and never truly manages) to find a way to individualise its characters. Focus is scattered and no central figure emerges

unlabelledView post →366 Days of Film. Day 152 - Society of the Snow. The true story of the Uruguayan rugby team who must fight with everything they have to survive a horrific plane crash. Watched Alive in the 90’s and thought I’d never need to see this story again, but the script, acting and direction are impeccable.

Bayona; starring Enzo Vogrincic, Agustín Pardella, Matías Recalt, Tomas Wolf After their plane crashes in the Andes, the survivors must go to extremes lengths to stay alive. The script uses a clever angle that gives the story more emotional depth. Paired to an authentic cast, quality production and Bayona’s skillful direction, the film is a powerful and definite recreation of the event.
