Pictured here with director John Madden, stars Laura Linney and Rhys Ifans. Great reviews too. UK release 7 Nov…

unlabelledView post →"Sideways" is one of those movies that has taken root in culture — eminently quotable, it boosted the wine industry in California almost as much as it did the careers of its stars and director, and did irreparable damage to the reputation of merlot. 20 years after its release, David Holmes went on a "Sideways" themed wine-tasting trip with Rex Pickett, the author whose novel was adapted into the screenplay, and wrote about it for Esquire. “The owner of the Hitching Post restaurant got ahold of…

unlabelledView post →Evidently, Vance is synonymous with shit now. The text substituted "Vance" for "shit" near the beginning when he says "these two pieces of shit"! 🤣💩 Reminds me of when I saw the movie SIDEWAYS on a plane in 2005. On the golf course, when the character said "asshole", they substituted "Ashcroft"!

unlabelledView post →THE HOLDOVERS - I absolutely loved this film! Alexander Payne, director of 'Sideways', delivers a witty, smart, and deeply moving story. I love that it's shot in the style of a 60s movie (right down to the opening idents) as well. Giamatti, Randolph, and Sessa give incredible performances! (All4)

unlabelledView post →"If anyone orders Merlot, I'm leaving. I am NOT drinking any fucking Merlot" As I get older, I have realized that this movie is written really well. Paul Giamatti and Thomas Haden Church have a hilarious chemistry and I can't help but agree with Miles a few times. I wish I loved wine like Miles does, but I do love hearing him describe each one with a passion.
