Some praise the performance of young co-star Bodhi Rae Breathnach. [1][2]

A one-man-army off the coast of Scotland takes a girl under his wing This is basically Rambo or Die Hard in the UK, starring Jason Statham, albeit with him sort of teaming up with a young adolescent girl, played by Bodhi Rae Breathnach (she was three months shy of 14 years-old when shooting ended). It’s like the drama/adventure “Wildlike” (2014) if it were an action flick taking place on the British Isles. The …

I enjoy most Jason Statham films because I know what to expect. And when I'm in that mood, his films do a better job than most at this level. But as a Jason Bourne fan, it was hard not to notice that 'Shelter' unashamedly used incredibly similar plot and philosophical devices, characters and even dialogue. These distractions made me chuckle, not frown. Had this been made by Paul Greengrass himself, and with better …

Thoroughly enjoyable Jason keeps making this movie over and over, and they are getting more and more refined. This is the Beekeper, sort of. A Working Man, sort of. The Mechanic, Transporter, and so on. And he does it well. His costar Bodhi is amazing, and with Bill as the anchor for plot the composition is solid. The action is great, the direction solid, the shots on point. I liked this a lot. It is not high …

"Shelter" is, with one notable exception, a rather uninspiring action thriller. I'll start by saying I like Jason Statham, but really, for my money, the shining light in this otherwise rather dull film is Bodhi Rae Breathnach. She shines as the young girl Stratham sets out to save when she gets embroiled in his past life in the world of assassination and espionage. Looking beyond her performance, most other aspects …

I’ve always loved the idea of living in a remote Scottish lighthouse where the weather could close in and cut me off from everything and everyone - with, of course, wifi and all the conveniences of home. “Mason” (Jason Statham) has had the same idea - only minus the mod cons, and survives frugally thanks to a weekly delivery from a trawler man (Michael Schaefer) and his young neice “Jessie” (Bodhi Rae Breathnach). …
How this was made: an AI model (deepseek-v4-flash) read 34 of the 110 public posts we collected about this film and wrote the summary, likes and dislikes, citing the posts behind each point ([n] opens the post). A second AI pass checked every statement against the posts it cites; anything it could not match was removed, and code removed any statement with quotation marks, numbers that are not in the posts, or unattributed claims about people. Critics, per Wikipedia
Shelter grossed $12.8 million in the United States and Canada, and $41.8 million in other territories, for a worldwide total of $54.6 million. In the United States and Canada, Shelter was released alongside Send Help, Iron Lung, and Melania on January 30, 2026. It grossed $5,531,028 from 2,726 theatres and closed its domestic run with $12,805,541. On the review aggregator website Rotten Tomatoes, 64% of 119 critics' reviews are positive, with an average rating of 5.7/10. The website's consensus reads: "Classing up an overdone premise with professional execution, Shelter is highly derivative of previous Jason Statham vehicles but lean and mean enough to forgive the recycled tropes."…

neutral · AI labelView post →Streaming the Melania propaganda film. When you finally see her in full view, "rape, murder!" hits in the Rolling Stones' Gimme Shelter. Trump reportedly met Melania through Epstein and had sex with her for the first time on Epstein's rape plane, in a sadistic crime network that killed women.

neutral · AI labelView post →What we need @mark-carney.bsky.social is a new Canadian Film Investment Tax Shelter era to kick into hyperspeed the production of Canadian films to keep our film industry working. If Trump is determined to destroy the cultural imperialism of US film, then Canada should be ready to take its place.
neutral · AI labelView post →Gimme Shelter is a way funnier movie than it should be given the subject material, but it's in that Grey Gardens way where it's funny in a very depressing way.
neutral · AI labelView post →Watched SHELTER today and it’s a shockingly competent Dad Movie w/a handful of cool action sequences. Also in America it’s called SHELTER but here it’s SHELTER WITHOUT LIMITS. Really glad they clarified how many limits the shelter has here, not sure how people in America dealt with that ambiguity.

My guess is the selection, in this case, references the Stones at Altamont (and the rockumentary film by the same name), and reflects their opinion that the outdoor concert was (for them) a disaster
