By enhancing the graphics, the vast landscapes now look much more detailed with all the grass, polished textures and overall nicer shading. Most of the other aspects are virtually the same compared to Classic Second Encounter. However, on a technical level, this game is inferior to the original in a couple ways. The AI and…

Serious Sam HD: TFE: Haven't beaten this game in forever. Still holds up, still full of janky charm. Gameplay loop is very fun, but some levels can get a bit tedious.

It throws you straight back into the glorious, chaotic, and undeniably fun era of early 2000s shooters. While the graphics have received a much-needed HD polish, the core gameplay remains as bombastic and satisfying as ever. This game is all about mowing down hordes of enemies, each more ridiculous and grotesque than the last. From…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Serious Sam HD: Second Encounter (2010): Definitely better and more fast-paced than the first game, but not nearly as fun as Serious Sam 2. I still despise Kleers, though the flamethrower makes quick work of them. But let's be real, the main reason we play this one is because of the Grand Cathedral.

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →What do you think of when you hear the name Serious Sam? Probably vast fields of screaming monsters, miniguns revved to the max, and forever running backwards. I would bet money that whatever you’re envisioning in that game-addled brain of yours was pulled from The Second Encounter, because that’s certainly the case for me. The First Encounter may have set the stage for what Serious Sam is all about, but The Second Encounter is where those concepts blossomed into the hilarious chaos of bones…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Serious Sam The Second Encounter is very similar to its predecessor. It's very easy to understand, easy to play but hard to master (depends on the difficulty). The gameplay remains untouched. As long as you hold one or two directional buttons and the left mouse button you are set. The shift from sand, more sand and structures made of sand to a palette of diferent worlds to explore along with a more complex level structure and improved level design make it much more varied and also marginally…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Serious Sam HD: The Second Encounter is exactly what I hoped The First Encounter would be. While both games follow the same core formula, The Second Encounter does a much better job of keeping the experience engaging by introducing new content at a faster pace. The gameplay remains fundamentally the same. You move through large levels, collect weapons and fight enormous hordes of enemies that constantly rush towards you from every direction. There is still very little focus on story,…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Why not assemble Serious Sam HD First and Second Encounter into one game and call it simply Serious Sam 1? So that we have a series of 1, 2, 3, 4 and maybe others in the future. I know that all chapters of First Encounter HD are included into Second Encounter HD, but they have no order there, they're kinda messy. I'd be nice to have them ordered in a linear way as in original games, but assembled in one. And please name games accordingly so that they get arranged chronologically in Steam…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →“All knowledge meets an end at the question... Why?” ~Criss Jami So... more Sam, huh? It looks like HD remaster of the first game sold pretty well, since well, here comes HD remaster of its second chapter. You know, same game, another chapter (not to be confused with Serious Sam 2, which is a totally different game). And obviously, the approach here is exactly the same with [url=https://steamcommunity.com/id/letande/recommended/41000/]what we had before. Which means that the guys from Croteam…

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →If you haven't already, read my SS:TFE review first, since a lot of it is applicable for SS:TSE as well! Like the first game, Serious Sam: The Second Encounter holds a bunch of nostalgic value for me. Though unlike The First Encounter, it stands the test of time much better, as it feels much less like a tech-demo. There are plenty of fights that have some unique gimmick, like a bouncing floor or constant gusts of wind around the room, which gives the encounters a wider variety, even if their…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Well... Fine. This is a shooter you can play FPS or TPS. The graphics are decent. The music is good. The story is also decent, even funny. No bugs or crashes. Overall, the game is very entertaining. There are lots of enemies and several weapons to try. It's a fast-paced game with an emphasis on humor, and it offers plenty of content for the price. Plus, it includes cards and achievements. Now, I do recommend this game, but with a note of caution. Some levels have a significant difficulty…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Serious Sam HD: The Second Encounter is a relentless string of cheap shots, monster closets, instant deaths, bombastic weapons, and irreverently juvenile humor. Serious Sam is designed around ever escalating crescendos of over-the-top violence that will likely see you quicksaving mid-battle with the prescient expectation that a giant enemy will spring over that wall in the distance firing rockets that you couldn't possibly avoid in time that will kill you, instantly. If the idea of a…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Serious Sam HD: The Second Encounter is a high-octane reimagining of one of the most explosively chaotic first-person shooters ever created. Developed by Croteam, this remastered edition takes the 2002 classic and injects it with the power of the Serious Engine 3, bringing upgraded visuals, smoother performance, and widescreen support while retaining the sheer madness that defined the original experience. The game serves as both a nostalgic trip for long-time fans and a fresh challenge for…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Dear our developers We are all very grateful to you for releasing such a masterpiece, and even at such a time. Thank you that there are no blacks and LGBT people in the game. You have created a masterpiece and now all you have to do is continue to edit the technical component. Thank you, take care of yourself and keep giving us new games!

unlabelledView post →Sam, I am! My review covers TFE and TSE as one game. Like most Serious Sam fans, I consider The First Encounter and The Second Encounter together as Serious Sam 1. Not much to say when it comes to define this classic: If you want to experience a straightforward FPS without the complex mechanics and systems that modern shooters tend to layer on, Serious Sam is exactly that. Each weapon has its place against specific enemy types, making weapon switching a natural and satisfying part of the…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The first and only shooter series that made me use ALL of my weapons. In most shooter games you just stick to one that sucks the less, maybe changing between one long range and one short range from time to time. In Serious Sam, you either use ALL of your arsenal or you die. And all guns are extremely fun! Would be a perfect game if not for kleers.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Seriously a frustrating second one. Endless fighting with no performance issues.

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It is a lot of fun and I would highly recommend. the jokes are great and the action is awesome
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The absolute legend. I'm probably biased here as the original was one of the 1st games I ever played. Nevertheless - it's a GOAT
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Similar to TFE its a classic so definetly would suggest. Even tho there are minor lag spikes and fram drops happening in TSE for some unknown reason so the game is less stable then TFE but still playable and the addition campaign + able to play the egypt campaign of TFE through again is just a cherry on top
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is my childhood game, I will always have a place for it no matter what. It's got good Deathmatch, very much like Quake arena. Co-op is also full of silly fun, overall 10/10 definitely not biased! One word of advice though, this game is old so cap your framerate at 120 or lower, high framerates will screw up spawn triggers and make enemies behave weird.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I hated this "remake" back when it launched, and I hate it even more now. It has aged like milk and is in every possible way a downgrade from the original. Some of the new models are fine, while others look super jank. My biggest complaint is how everything looks like it's covered in vaseline and glistens like a cheap night lamp. Looks aside, I'd be ok if the gameplay was at least good, but that has been the biggest offender. Broken animations, screwed up triggers, absolutely horrible hit sound…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It doesn't even take an hour of gameplay for this to suffer the same fate as Serious Sam: The First Encounter -- it degenerates quickly from a simplistic but genuinely fun shooter, to the level designers quickly falling back to the old "big arena room where you have to fight 50 clones of the exact same enemy at once" tedium. Disappointing.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I have to admit that I like the NON-HD version more than HD one, BUT it has it's own perks, so both of them good in their way. Some things are exactly alike comparing with non-HD version - gameplay, ost. Some things are different. Anyway - 2nd Encounter HD is better than the 1st SS HD. You wonder why there are not so many reviews? HD version is kind buggy - sometimes achievements work - sometimes they don't. Sometimes your overall game time works - sometimes don't. Sometimes even your cloud…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →(11 hours on Steam, the store page was changed) Serious Sam: The Second Encounter is in many ways a better version of the First Encounter and this HD remaster is a decent way to play it. The Second Encounter introduced more varied environments, new weapons, and interesting enemies to the gameplay mix, all of which contribute greatly to the experience. Definitely worth a pickup for retro FPS and Serious Sam fans; a personal favorite. Consider the original release if you don't mind the lack of…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Along with First Encounter HD, this is probably the best SS game that ever was, or ever will be made. Solid gameplay, decent visuals, & the Harpies are actually hot in this game, unlike SS3, where they look like men in drag, & SS4, where they look just butt ugly in general.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The World Beyond Mental We do not know Mental, and yet his name continues to resonate. Wherever we venture, his controlled hosts — mindless, headless, or unearthly beings reduced to mere servitude — breach every sanctuary. They conquer each corner of this world, much as we ourselves have done through the pursuit of science. My sister and I arrived in the Sierra of Chiapas. Yet something felt uncanny. It was not the jungle itself that unsettled us, but its very placement. We were told that…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Same game as the first but just as good. Also love how the box art now makes Sam look like Tim Allen for some reason lmfao.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →GOD I ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ HATE kleer skeletons man. Holy ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ ♥♥♥♥.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This comparison in particular slays me. It has a 'we have Serious Sam HD: The Second Encounter at home' look to it now, except it doesn't look as appealing as that game or the game it's currently modding the visuals of.
unlabelledView post →The original Serious Sam (both First and Second Encounters) had an Xbox port that changed a lot enough to be called a semi-remake, then there's Serious Sam HD which was a full remake on new engine, then there was the Fusion remaster, and the VR version. And the og game had a rerelease as Revolution.
