positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Out of all the classic style FPSes, This is one of them. Ridiculous, outrageous, and punishing. When you find a Secret in any other FPS game, you're usually treated to a nice little boost of health, maybe a new gun or a power up, or maybe just ammo. In Serious Sam, the secret is +1 armor and when you pick it up the game grabs you by the lapels and screams "HOW DARE YOU" in your face and demands you explain yourself to the 410,757,864,530 Kleer skeletons that just spawned in the bathroom stall…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →80. Mobile Suit Gundam: But just the last 10 eps! See image text because the backstory for this one is too long. 81. Serious Sam HD: TFE: Haven't beaten this game in forever. Still holds up, still full of janky charm. Gameplay loop is very fun, but some levels can get a bit tedious.

As a completely new player, I genuinely enjoyed it, and I think it still holds up. I chose Hard difficulty right from the start, and I’m glad I did. It was challenging at times, but never more than I could handle. If you’re new to this style of shooter, I’d recommend starting on Normal, or Hard if you want a proper challenge. The basic formula is simple, fast,…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Serious Sam HD: The First Encounter is exactly what it promises to be: a classic old-school FPS built around fast movement, large enemy hordes and constant action. There is very little focus on narrative, progression systems or anything beyond the core objective of moving forward and surviving increasingly chaotic encounters. The gameplay follows a formula that was extremely common during its era. You explore large maps, collect weapons and fight dozens of enemies at the same time while…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Serious Sam HD: Second Encounter (2010): Definitely better and more fast-paced than the first game, but not nearly as fun as Serious Sam 2. I still despise Kleers, though the flamethrower makes quick work of them. But let's be real, the main reason we play this one is because of the Grand Cathedral.

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I first played the original Serious Sam: The First Encounter over 20 years ago, long before the HD version existed. Coming back to it now was a pure nostalgia trip, and I'm happy to say that the game still holds up incredibly well. What makes Serious Sam special is its simplicity. No unnecessary mechanics, no endless tutorials, no complicated progression systems—just you, a huge arsenal of weapons, and hundreds of enemies charging at you from every direction. It's the kind of old-school FPS…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →In the year of our lord 2026, there is literally no reason anyone should be playing Serious Sam if for anything other than nostalgia or morbid curiosity. Serious Sam is not an enjoyable game. It is repetitive, tedious, and very clunky. As a man that finished the game, I can tell you I didn't enjoy myself in the slightest. It doesn't offer creative gameplay or interesting scenarios, nothing to give you joy or peak genuine interest, it just gives you waves upon waves of enemies, relentlessly…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →On Windows 11, sound design is much better than in the Classics (2001 and Revolution): I can hear where each enemy is coming from. For Classics, you have to emulate EAX and even then it's sound is a mess. Also everything is just so tasty: the graphics, the atmosphere, the lighting -- you name it. Beware, there is a lot of dark levels, when the game states it's the night. That was unexpected yet interesting. Some levels are altered e.g. The Sacred Yards don't have the reverse gravity…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →lets just say the first encounter i had with a woman resulted in the police being called. let that sink in
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Another older game, but man this was a lot of fun back then. It’s basically just huge waves of enemies coming at you while you run around with ridiculous guns blowing everything to hell. It’s fast, chaotic, doesn’t take itself seriously, and the co-op made it even better. Simple old school shooter fun.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Sam, I am! My review covers TFE and TSE as one game. Like most Serious Sam fans, I consider The First Encounter and The Second Encounter together as Serious Sam 1. Not much to say when it comes to define this classic: If you want to experience a straightforward FPS without the complex mechanics and systems that modern shooters tend to layer on, Serious Sam is exactly that. Each weapon has its place against specific enemy types, making weapon switching a natural and satisfying part of the…

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's time to get Serious. Serious Sam that is. One of the great shooter classics from the early 2000s, it's still a blast all these years later. We held a New Years LAN party last year, and everyone installed SSHD and we played all the way through in co-op. What a blast.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →There is a good game in here somewhere, too bad iv had to back track to the start of the level for the fifth time being pushed back by the level spawning 200 of the same enemy for the 3rd time or i might have found it. incredibly tedious and not worth buying full price but if you do buy it, save after every arena to save yourself the headache.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Serious Sam: The First Encounter — thanks for the childhood, but I’m not gonna play it now Bought it out of nostalgia. I remember as a kid talking with the boys about those headless kamikazes and skeletons with grenade launchers, arguing who was cooler — Sam or Duke. We took turns playing, laughed our asses off when he got torn to pieces. But I never finished it — not back then, not now. Launched it recently. The graphics are cubes, enemies come at you in hordes, and after half an hour my…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Havent played this since Primary school. Now I can see why I never got into it other than the one meme all my friends from school that played it laughed about. The game is janky and not that fun to play. Relies on cheap level design and enemy "jumpscares" from obvious positions all the time. The sound design is also poor. Even the control scheme is weird for certain things. The thing I remember most is the guys wth no heads screaming and running at you with bombs in their hands. We used to…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Seriousness in the Desert Discovery — that window into other worlds — sometimes carries within it the seed of its own undoing. We open doors to marvel at strangeness, yet those same doors become breaches through which hostile beings arrive, laying waste to entire worlds. We are sent into the past to alter the course of humanity’s destiny, to halt the invasion. And though the Time-Lock — a strange artefact — permits the passage of only a single soul, it grants us the grace to travel…

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →+ Looks great for a remastered cheap antique; + Too short to get completely down the neck with its repetitiveness (~6 hours); + Has a greatly customizable coop mode; + Some fun and borderline cute enemies like the gnaar or really memorable ones in a good (headless kamikaze, bulls, mechanoids) or a bad way (kleer); + Ancient Egyptian setting; + Has blood and gore; + Lots of secrets; + Has a small encyclopedia on all the weapons and enemies; ~ Easy to beat at the hard difficulty. - Lackluster…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The first Serious Sam game has great nostalgic factor, as I played the demo multiple times as a kid in the middle of the 00's. Twenty years later, it's still a great challenge when playing on the higher difficulties. Having just finished a single-player playthrough on Serious difficulty, it's almost too hard and intense! Some fights took a few minutes on the in-game statistics, but in reality almost half an hour with all the deaths and loading. You also have to be a hundred percent…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Unbelievable. Decades of time later, with some visually stunning moments. And this is still utter jank! The biggest selling point here IS nostalgia, but not for this one! All the nostalgia is for the Second Encounter. The base of First Encounter is just bad. No amount of graphic overhauls can fix it, mate! But on the topic of graphic overhaul: - Frame rate drops, even on empty spaces, (sloppy code running on enemies that aren't rendered and aren't even spawned in yet). Also, why the hell is…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Absolute classic, they don't make games like this nowadays.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Меня очень сильно забавляет как в игре ремастернули лишь саму графику, но сами звуки оставили примяком из 2001 года, из-за чего даже немного воспринимается как хоррор из-за рассинхрона визуала и аудио

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I have been playing FPS games ever since Wolfenstein first game out. Have loved them all. Doom, Quake, Duke, Half-Life, and the list goes on and on. At the ripe old age of 65, I thought I had pretty much played every first person shooter game out there. Then a colleague told me about the Serious Sam series. I had never heard of them. Holy smokes, seriously, it's truly the next level of FPS game fun for me. The weapons are as awesome as are the enemies. Such an utterly brilliant game. In fact,…

unlabelledView post →I can`t say that the first part of Serious Sam gave the world anything new. No new mechanics, no new ideas, and yet people still fell in love with this game for something. Probably it gave players a chance to relax after a hard day, running around locations and destroying a mountain of enemies without thinking about anything. It`s hard to say anything specific. Run and kill enemies, and just like that I`ve described the whole game. For new players it may feel very stretched out and that will be…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Still Serious, Mostly Nostalgic 🔫 Serious Sam: The First Encounter is pure old-school, mindless fun. There is no complicated story, deep character development, or tactical combat here. You run, shoot, collect increasingly ridiculous weapons, and survive enormous waves of enemies while trying not to get surrounded! The game still has plenty of charm. The colourful environments, hidden secrets, absurd enemy designs, and constant escalation give it a personality that many modern shooters lack.…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Game didn't age too well. I get that people fell in love with the sillyness back when it first released, but nowadays it's technologically just subpar. There are dozens of horde shooters that are more satisfying to play than this jank and I'm sure the humor of headless screming men with cartoon bombs in their hands has been surpassed as well. This is a nostalgia trip for people nostalgic about the games. If you're looking for an entertaining horde shooter, keep moving. This is a relic from…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →From the very first level, enemies were constantly bugging out. More than 50% of the enemies that spawned would get stuck in place and couldn't move unless you hit them first, which would somehow unstick them. My friend from the US and I played through the entire campaign from start to finish, only to get soft locked on the final level because the first enemy in the arena wouldn't even spawn. Despite all the issues, we still managed to have some fun because of how chaotic and janky everything…
