In this world populated by both Humans and anthropomorphic races known as Val and Serin, players will start out by becoming apprentice Witches at the local witchcraft academy; however, during the initiation ceremony, something goes terribly wrong as the main incipit of the story is revealed. 🟩 Pros 🟥 Cons - Solid variety of items,…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Save file keeps corrupting. Developer keeps suggesting my 5950x , 128g ram, and 3090 are under speced to play the game. Developer is now ignoring me after pointing that out.

Difficult Achievement(s): Yes (1+ achievement). Intro Serin Fate is an adventure RPG with a lot of mandatory elements that you usually find in farming games in addition to magic and monster taming. You can farm, mine, capture monsters for you to fight, fish, and many more. Despite the varied features, it still focuses on the adventure element at its…

unlabelledView post →I honestly feel a bit tricked for buying this. The game isn't "hard." It's obnoxious. No stats on items, 2-D combat, sluggish crafting/gathering. It's like it took the grinding aspect of every genre it borrows from...and then made it worse. Not harder; just worse. Caveat Emptor.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Glaring issue that I've found other have had same problem. Your game can randomly crash and you lose your save file. As if this review, I had 80 hours in a save file and it crashed. I lost everything. This completely turns me off from playing any longer. But hell, why should the devs care. They already got my money. Be warned, multiple users have had crashing issues and losing files, Just search in the steam discussions.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game is... Mind boggling. (SPOILERS ahead btw) So 50 hours in, I think I’m at the final boss and only now do I realise that you can mana link chimera to make capturing them easier. Up until this point most of the chimera I attempted to catch ran away because I thought it was proximity based only. The more you know right. But seriously this is like an analogy of my entire experience. You might see it in other reviews, and I have to agree that this game does not hold your hand at all. That…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's fun, but... the whole thing seems largely unfinished, and there hasn't been any news regarding updates and patches, despite the 'full release' being exactly a year ago. All in all, I don't advise paying for a game that doesn't seem like it will be finished anytime soon (if ever).
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I was a kickstarter backer and really wanted to like this game. But... 21 hours in, on my third world- I just... I can't recommend it. Honestly at this point it feels like I am banging my head against the wall. the game itself is charming, has great music, world design- secrets... but good luck getting to most of it. It feels like the game is actively out to get you- like it wants to troll you on purpose. Yes, retro game, yes, it is meant to be hard but no- this is overkill. You enter a new…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →So sad they gave up on this game instantly after release.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is the most linear crafting game I've ever played. You can do plenty of stuff, but you have to do them in a certain order, or you will not advance. Interested in growing crops? You can do it for a healthy 30 minutes or so, until you run out of seeds and soil, and until you realize that you won't get anything for doing so. Same thing with mining. You can mine a couple of stones, but they will not refresh, and unlocking more stones requires unreasonable amounts of money that you can't…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game is beyond annoying. First of all, literally everything is some hidden secret place. I get having secret spots, but jeez I can't find a damn thing in this game because EVERYTHING is secret. Second, there is no explanation for a lot of very important things and the tutorial is basically worthless. Third, the game seems to have changed so many times that it's impossible to find any sort of accurate guides/maps/etc. I could keep going on and on about how annoying this game is. The…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game asks for WAY too much of your time. The mechanics are obscured, the items are difficult to find, progression is unintuitive and the time. . . This is a game which delights in making you wait for everything. Long cut scenes, long crafting times, long grind sessions. There's a good game in here somewhere. Buried. Under an extremely difficult to understand interface. This game wants too much out of the players, and having just beat it, it's not worth it. It's not worth the 90+ hours…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I’m conflicted about whether to give this game a recommendation or not. It keeps the core elements of a beloved, over-saturated genre, but makes a real effort to mix things up, coming up with some ideas I hadn’t seen implemented before in this type of game and which I really liked. On the other hand, there are just a host of aspects which absolutely decimated my enjoyment, and compounded to make this a frequently infuriating experience. The primary cause of both sides of this sweet-and-stanky…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I did like the idea of mixing Stardew Valley with Pokemon, but sadly the game falls short from a technical perspective. The menus are incredibly clunky and regularly a pain to navigate. This includes combat. Whether you choose to believe the devs when they say that the lack of clear introductions and basic item details "adds a flair of mistery" or whether you are convinced that the game simply went out of Early Access unfinished is up to you. This could have been an incredible game - but it…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →S-TLDR: I suggest you look elsewhere and not get your hopes up. This game is disappointing, buggy, and the dev is vindictive and condescending towards anyone who doesn't thumbs up the game no matter the reason. They abandoned it after launch to work on @SoulCrestRPG, that is also forgotten; it's .com is for sale. lol TLDR: You want to buy this game because it looks like Pokemon mixed with Zelda and Stardew. You'll be disappointed, confused on what you're supposed to do even 40 hours in [unless…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I really enjoyed the beginning of the game, and discovering the world and game mechanics. Unfortunately, auto-save is a modern invention that should not be discarded even in a 'retro' style game. I am not a teenager playing Chrono Trigger anymore, reflexively saving at every opportunity. i am 40 with a full time job. I don't have time to replay three days of game play after a tree stump monster one shots me, especially as I can't tell the chimera apart from the monsters at this early stage…

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I read all the negative reviews and almost didn't try to find my way in Serin Fate. Boy am I glad I did! To set the stage, I'm 54 & just started gaming during Covid. So my gaming intuition is not finely honed and I have relied on walk throughs, Steam guides, etc. to keep games going. To say that there isn't enough of that for this game now on Steam isn't true. In addition, I've learned that games used to be things you had to find your way in instead always being hand held. Welcome to Serin…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →i tried to like this game, but it just feels unfinished. I feel like it really just throws you in and doesn't really give much information on anything. I found my self just confused most of the time. It has awesome concepts and was enjoyable but i just couldnt stay interested

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →After completing the (a little long and complicated) tutorial, I went ahead and told my friends that I found a contender for filling the void left after Stardew Valley. There's a LOT of games which try that, and all of them fail - maybe because people think that Stardew Valley was successful because it's a farming/life sim, while in fact SV was successful because it's an incredibly well-crafted game, with lots and lots of attention to detail. And when I saw Serin Fate with its complexities,…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The game is good. However it isnt executed well. Enemies between levels jump a ridiculous amount. The game gives absolutely no hints how to move forward. You have to spend hours guessing. Overall I have had fun playing it but now I am on the second level and am absolutely stuck. Even after hours of stat grinding. Also there is no good walkthrough available for when you do get stuck.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I wanted so badly to like this game because it's clear that there was a lot of love and work put into the game and there's a lot to do. However, it was so poorly designed as a game that I found myself either lost or frustrated most of the time. I don't mind games that throw you in without much guidance and encourage you to discover things on your own. However, the game design does not allow you to do so in a manner that makes sense, things are all over the place despite some hints here and…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Ok so, I was really enjoying it for what it is. Yes it does need some work with a few overlooked details, but it's an ok game. The issue I'm having is I played the game for about 3 days. Never closed it. Finally decided to play something else, saved and closed. Came back and my save will not load. The load button is greyed out. It's acting like I never played the game. I decided to look around on the discord for answers and found no solution and others talking about the save issue as well. Some…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →After playing the story to completion, I can't really recommend it. It has so much promise, but it doesn't really deliver. The story pacing is very unsatisfying, coming to an abrupt and unsatisfactory end. The punishing difficulty is actually really fun as a change of pace to more chill games like Stardew Valley (providing you know to expect it) but in conjunction with a lack of auto-saving and frequent crashes, it becomes very unreliable and frustrating. It also becomes very grindy in the…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game has so many cool concepts going on, but the implementation is very poor and makes for a confusing and boring gameplay. The graphic style is poor and makes it harder to discern what's going on. Even on a high end system the loading times for every little house or area are really bad and detrimental to the gameplay.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's a sad review because I came in wanting to enjoy the game but I can't personally recommend. Combat is very much; Press this button alot and occasionally push this one. There's no opportunity for skilled play or positioning when you're fighting in melee, it's do alot of damage and hope your enemy dies quick enough not to hit you back or your dex will make them miss. There are, in my opinion, too many systems and gathering, mining, crafting etc, seem unnecessarily slow. To break up some rocks…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I appreciate what this game offers, I really do, but at this point I have to admit: I spend more of my time frustrated, confused, and running back and forth trying to make progress without understanding what is going on than I do enjoying the game. I am not shy of complex games, or games that don't hold your hand (Oxygen Not Included, Cogmind, Slay the Spire), but this game just...I don't know. My opinion of it is very complex. What made me give up was when I get to Nymbus Islands. I can't…

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →48 hours of my life wasted. Spending well over half of that time just trying to figure out what to do. I've never played a game with so little information on anything and everything. Its got hidden mechanics that are viewed as quarks among the community but really just hinder game play. You are allowed to have 3 Chimeras (fighting pets) that can have up to 3 combat skills each. Too bad you can only use a max of 4 skills and there isn't even like a "pool" of skills. It picks 3 from the First…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Npcs will walk right into you , making you unable to move until they move since theyre impassable. I just had my first death after i got attacked while in a dialogue. You lose a lot from death and to have my first death happen to me completely out of my own control is pretty sad and leaves a ♥♥♥♥♥♥ taste especially since this is basically first impressions. Feel like i just wasted an hour and half.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Edit: Vethergen is combative and stalks downvoters; he did it to me after I had criticisms on his Discord and also posted a negative review here. It's kind of creepy, and counterproductive; he's not very receptive to feedback, and thinks hours played somehow negates your opinion of the game's shortcomings. I don't generally see other solo game developers behaving this way. Okay, I will warn you: this game has a TON of make-work and very little direction, tutorial, or documentation. If this…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →seems to try and join the genre of stardew valley or harvest moon or rune factory. even adds its own touch of being a creature collector/top down combat RPG. however, to me, like kynseed it kind of falls off for not being intuitive. I hope all goes well for the dev but i just didnt feel satisfied with serin fate.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →"The 'no hand holding' design philosophy is only good when the gameplay is presented in an intuitive way" YES. Tamaster's review echoes my experience to a T. I get a sense of frustration and boredom vs fun. I must know the stats of what I'm actually buying and crafting. I want inventory management and crafting to be more user friendly. I want the combat to be more skill based. I gotta say though, the the dev communicates a lot with the community. As of now, Vethergen has almost 10,000 posts…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Have put a good amount of time into it and can safely say that I would absolutely recommend Serin Fate. It's like Stardew Pokemon, but you're a wizard! It is absolutely a game you can sink sometime into. The only thing I could complain about is this game would benefit from a very detailed wiki page. There just isn't a lot of info out there and there are many things I am clueless about still. There is some way to breed chimeras and I think I would really enjoy that if I knew a little more about…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I thought for a while about whether or not I should recommend this game. On one hand it is full of charm and was obviously a passion project that the dev Vethergen put alot of of heart and effort into. At the end of the day though, I would still cation the average player against buying it. Serin Fate is full of questionable design choices that plague the entire game. First, I will talk about the Grind. Anyone getting into a game like this comes in expecting the Grind, but I think it is…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →After some back and forth with the developer, I'm gonna give this review another shot. I think I might have been a little harsh previously. It doesn't change my experience with the game, but if you're on the fence about it and you need your next Stardew fix, this will help you decide if the game is for you. So first off, as far as I can tell, this entire game was built by one person and it was their first major project. On that laurel alone, this game is an impressive feat. The scope was…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Honestly, I think the game has a lot of promise in its premise... That's about it. Here's a grab-bag of thoughts I've had while playing, for those curious: The characters are more like humanoid boxes meant to dispense whatever the writer wants them to say than actual characters, and the story is pretty bland to start with (though a bland story isn't always bad, when the character writing itself is lacking, it sticks out more). This has the odd side-effect of causing it to feel like the…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game is charming but the progression is terrible.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Serin fate is a game that I adore. To be clear I have yet to finish Serin Fate (Not that I can't, I just enjoy the magical farm life perhaps a bit to much). Despite that I feel like I can give an fair review of the game. I'll start by touching on it's weaker points and move into the positives. So Serin Fate tells you very little. Most of what you can do is hidden and requires active exploration and experimentation from the player. This relates to both game mechanics and to the story…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →yet another possibly good enjoyable game ruined by ♥♥♥♥♥♥ or non existent key remaping .. in this case there is no ability to map actions to the mouse (which sucks cause attack isnt done by mouse ether for some strange reason ) that means people like me who have harder and slower adaption times are more prone to getting frustrated and not being able to enjoy the game .. honestly from the lil i did play before was fed up if i could truly map the controls to the way i like i would probly really…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The game is big, and has a lot of stuff to do. You are probably going to die, and the game is very long so I don't recommend doing the hard mode that deletes your save. I've only gone to a few different areas so far, but what I can see is very cool. The bad reviews don't stay accurate very long, because the developer works quickly. I pointed out some of the things that I got confused on with the first quests on the discord, and the developer added more information in the game, and something…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game looks like the typical indie game that tried to mash together too much ideas, genres and concepts. But it just works. Don't expect much polish on it, but what truly matters is definitely there. This game really has its own tropes, which is a rarity nowadays (but might confuse even seasoned gamers though). If you have a common interest in farming-sims, creature collection and mild adventure/rpg with cryptic but rewarding world building and progression, you might actually enjoy it much…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →So I agonized over whether to give this game a negative review, as I find it very interesting and unique, but also unbalanced, counter-intuitive, awkwardly difficult, and needlessly frustrating. Ultimately the only reason I went with a recommend is because i was able to get a Steam key for under ten dollars on another site and at that price i would wholeheartedly recommend it to others to experience. I'll lead off with the good because like i say, this game IS very much worth trying. First…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I've not beaten the game yet but after 24 hours of play I feel like I've got a pretty good handle on the game. I'll start by saying you should absolutely heed the games warning that it is not easy. It does not hold your hand. Many things will not be readily explained to you at all and you will find your game play experience greatly benefiting from reading few a few guides to fully understand what is really expected to you. In example you will be given a quest to 'bury some monster bones' and…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A difficult game with lots of mechanics, cute art style, and minimum hand-holding, that can take a bit of time to learn but is very pleasant to play once you know what you are doing. The final boss named Spined Ling is incredible.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I picked up Serin Fate because it looked to mix things I liked. Magic, exploration, farming. ... And it does, to a point. This is, however, not quite a Stardew experience. Relationships with the characters are limited, farming has a few neat twists but isn't as expansive or important - mostly, and magic isn't... what you might expect. You don't really cast spells to hurt. You cast them to mine, to chop trees, to summon rain, to capture creatures pokemon style, to fish, to.. well, you get the…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I've been tracking this game for some time before release and let me tell you...WoW! This is one heck of a game! I'm not into farming games in general but this one was approached with a unique blend of RPG and monster catching. After 100 hours and upon completing the game, here is my review: Gameplay Three main elements comprise the core gameplay loop: Farming, monster catching, and overworld exploring. Each these elements are unique in its own right, thanks to the Witchery (magic) system.…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It looks fun, but it's just very hard. No instruction. The graphics are ugly. Gameplay is difficult. When you're trying to fight off bad guys, your speed is SLOWED so they catch up to you. It's not very fun...It just makes me sad really. How their pictures deceive people. I wish it were a farming, crafting, mystery battle game....but it's not. It's a confusing, scattered, ugly mess, with terrible controls.... :( I wasted my money trying to like the game....now I can't get a refund.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I really like the game, but there is just way too much jank in it to recommend it to anyone else. Just to name some of the problems: -Almost none of the items have descriptions that tell you what they do. -There's a quest book, but it doesn't tell you where to go and there's often no clue on what to do next if you want to progress the story. -The title screen's cursor defaults to "New Game" and if you accidentally select it Alt+F4 is quicker than waiting until you can cancel back to…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This seems to be one of those love it or hate it games. I have been very interested in reading people's opinions about this particular game and I want to throw my hat in the ring. Its a little bit gardening sim like Stardew Valley, and a little bit Pokemon, and a little bit Zelda. Not one of these systems excels in its design, but the combination is delicious. It is definitely a grind. I went to the same room and killed the same two bees for in-game weeks as part of my daily in-game…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →No, i had fun with the game but this isn't a game i would recommend to my friends or other people play it, basically. Serin Fate is a duck, an ambitious duck: tries to swin like Pokemon-like games in creatures raising and battling, to walk like the adventure and RPG features of games like Zelda series and to fly like Stardew Valley in the farm simulator and town relationships; all that with a touch of witchery (and necromancy). Being a duck isn't the problem here, actually, is a good idea,…

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Serin Fate is a console ported 2D retro pixel hybrid adventure/action game that seems to be trying to rip off Final Fantasy, Stardew Valley and Pokemon all the same time. It's considerably worse than all three games, lacking polish, with poor quality graphics (even for pixelcrap). Gameplay is tedious and clunky. The game seems somewhat incomplete despite departing Steam Early Access. From a technical perspective, the game doesn't meet basic minimum requirements that most PC gamers expect…

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Tons of depth and things to do. Stardew, but harder with a lot more combat. The games explains enough and lets you figure out the rest.
