60 of 73 · most liked firstGraphics (7/10): The graphics are adequate given the price of the game, it is good enough to allow the user at all times to be aware of the action, but it is not at the level of high budget 2019 games. Sound (5/10): This is an area that I felt is a bit lacking, while there are music in the main menu, in the games there are only limited sound effects, and it reduces the atmosphere of the game. For the price of this game, commentary cannot be expected, however some music or more crowd noise,…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This really is a fantastic game when you get used to the controls, which doesn't take that long. It's by far the best rugby game I've played and as a professional rugby coach, I've been playing them a long time! Smooth passing, great evasion moves, tactical and addictive! What's more, they've added a Super league for free already, and plans to release more leagues. Love the new transfer feature where you can sign players, including youth team players. This has all the makings of the big…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The best rugby match engine going around right now. By far the most realistic game play that keeps dragging you in to play that next match. Yes the graphics are not the best in the world but you can so clearly tell the focus has been on the realistic match play. The control have a fairly steep learning curve but with the new addiction of on screen prompts and the in depth control document, you soon get used to it. Some of the tries you are able to score look awesome and not always a cookie…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Very very basic game, but so much fun to play. Reminds me of Jonah Lomu rugby on ps1
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game has what is probably the best engine for a rugby game is a very long time, while the graphics aren't good don't let that put you off as the engine saves this game and it feels like it flows in a similar way to a real match with good realism. It is a good platform to build on and I'm excited to see what they can do with it in any future games. It seems to be well supported and has already received an additional tournament in the 2-3 weeks I've owned it. The controls are a little tricky…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Well, this is plain awful. I know a lot of people seem to enjoy this but for the life of me I can't see why. With the long strained life of rugby games, this is just another that doesn't deliver in any way. No tutorial so even basics are confusing. One off game? Nope, straight into their weird hybrid championship. AI? Never in a rugby set up, I've never seen players so deep in a game before. Again controls, way too many for what is a 'simple' game. Half the time you're mashing in the hopes…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Great rugby union game. It is fun to play and challenging as well. When you score a try, it feels like you have earned it. There are no awful mini-games for set-pieces like scrums and line-outs. No mini-games for rucks either. It feels fun to play and I don't feel like I have to button mash like some other rugby titles. Unlike Rugby 22 and the Rugby Challenge series, you can actually play some kind of 'career' mode with progression for your players. You get points to spend on player…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I will be frank a game like this with such positive feedback? It is questionable; I will explain why. First of all this is pretty much the core of National Rugby Manager (by same dev team) evolved to allow controllable players, and that is exactly how it feels; like it is an accompaniment for a management game. It has some good points, but nowhere near enough to qualify as a really good rugby game. Full Disclosure I only played 90mins (that was enough) and refunded (in accordance with…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →What a brilliant rugby game. It's hard as ♥♥♥♥ but when you get used to it. You can play it for hours.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I know what you're thinking. "Graphics are bad, looks like a mobile game". I happened to think the same thing, until I watched the trailer for the second time and said to myself this might be better than it looks. I bought the game simply out of boredom for lack of Rugby Games...and it landed up being well...great. excellent, exceeding all expectations. Behind the plain graphics and lackluster animations there lied an ultimate Rugby simulation. The feel of passing down the line feels how it…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →the best rugby game out there. best game engine in any rugby game. not many options in terms of game modes but the gameplay is so good it never gets boring. plenty of customisation options and able to mod the game. obviously the graphics arent great and its not licensed but gameplay makes up for it massively and its so easy to customise teams and players
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is the worst game ever. First you cant change settings for no knock on and forward passes. I know that is part of the game. But in every final my team knock on for ever and I as a player have no control over it and it cost the game. Then second there is no default for your controller so I cant change any of my axis. Third...the acceleration when catching the ball is pathetic. No line out jumps and I cant contest in the scrums. Loading per game also take forever.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Very fun rugby game. The graphics and animations are poor but the gameplay and the passing system is very good and natural. In my opinion, it is the best gameplay on a modern rugby game. At the moment there is only one game mode. I would like to see league mode and online matches. The game has great potential and it is cheap.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Overall a very good rugby experience, very good AI, the graphics is not he best but as the developer stated this game is build around good AI and a budget title for the world Cup. I really hope that the developers build on this and give us more competions in the future. Good game 9/10

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A very good game considering the budget these guys had.I feel that they had a much better AI than most of the bigger rugby games with bigger budgets.they executed the basic principals and rules of the game to best of their ability and really outsmarted some of the bigger game developers.Well done...Regards The Rugby Guru!!!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I made the mistake of looking at the screenshots and the video of the game and writing it off as a cash grab by developers who are trying to cash in on the Rugby World Cup hype. I was completely wrong! I'm a rugby fanatic and have been looking for fun rugby games for years and have always been disappointed. Every game feels the same, with scripted animations for a tackle and unrealistic passing in any direction. I came back to this game by accident as I was searching for Rugby 20 if it was…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Its not great but its 20 bucks. I can see potential but its so flawed. I do like to basic but polished graphics , the stats are cool and squad management is easy. Love the fact you can play 1995 teams and easily amend the names to be correct. These graphics with Jonah Lomu Rugby ( 1998 ) gameplay and modes and we would be in business.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I don't write many reviews, but I felt Rugby Champions deserved a shout out. Many of the Cons will probably get addressed as part of the dev cycle, so I'll try to update my review. Cons: - Graphics are functional, but outdated - Presentation is a long way away from EA Sports - Control Scheme needs learning - No tutorial - Only 1 tournament (World Cup) - No MP (doesn't bother me!) - Sounds feel like placeholders - Some areas of the game (eg Line-0uts) are not player controlled Pros: - They've…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Great base for a Rugby game. Takes time to learn the controls but worth it. Has one the best if not the best Rugby flow feel (Simulation style) of many rugby games I have played and I have played them all. The game does not feel premeditated it feels like anything could happen. Would be nice to have more control of scrums and lineouts, and a little more control in rucks, but the over all feel is Rugby. The gang tackling and momentum on offense and defense is great in this game. It feels…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Look for the price this is actually remarkably good. The graphics while not amazing are certainly not shabby either. The pitch and players look fine and remarkably sharp when you consider what you're paying. The crowd looks like some early 2000s game but who cares that is not what you're focused on. What did surprise me is the amount of detail that has gone into this game, especially if you upload the two rosters for the 1995 World Cup and 2019 World Cup which have all the correct players. The…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is actually a very good and fun game to play. I have played most if not all rugby titles and Rugby Champions would be ranked within my top 5 rugby games of all time. Sure the graphics is outdated but it is all about the gameplay. I am super happy that a company finally nailed the AI of rugby. They feel smart but not God-Like and they actually use rugby tactics. Yes this game lacks in the feature department but lets give the Devs (2 man team) some time. So far this has been a pleasant…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Rugby game with 2019 World cup tournament mode and rosters made by the community to update player names (stats need updating tho). The game doesn't offer AAA graphics and reminds me of EA Rugby 2001 (much improved on the graphics front tho due to the Unity engine). The bonus of this is that I get to play the game on my crappy laptop and my gaming desktop. The gameplay is fun and much improved from recent years attempts, given that the game is developed by a two man team, you have to take your…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →overall i really nice game like it alot the game is smooth im def playing this game more nice game 7/10
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The best rugby game i've played since rugby 08, the thing that this game lacks is to be connected to rugby union team manager games. If i could only played this game with tactics and all the structure that RUTM brings, that would be the only rugby game i need
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Takes about 5 hours to get used to but once you got going there is no rugby game like it. Also the AI is great ive played 50 hours and still cant play on max difficulty unlike all other rugby games
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →sigh so frustrating with slow play from half back and off sides not ruled. To be fair its been a long between drinks since we saw a good rugby pc game but unfortunately don't waste your time here.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Solid rugby game, the best yet! great foundation to build on.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Well took a risk all rugby games have been rubbish last good one I remember was Jonah Lomu so that shows my age ;) Really pleasantly surprised with this title knock on's, intercept passes it has a good basis for going forward. No commentary but that is fine given how much of it is terrible - miss "He's diggin' like a demented mole" but hey cant have it all. Has room for improvement but what two devs have done here is better than quite a few other efforts I have tried from bigger companies.…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I would only recommend this game based on the price and due to the world cup currently being on however with two other rugby games coming out in a few months I feel this game will become the forgotten one. Therefore that is why I have it on a thumbs down. First this game is fun to play and scratches the rugby itch however it is lacking very basic features of the sport such as control in throw ins, control in the scrum and mauls. This is due to the fact that this game is only being developed by…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →European Rugby Champions' Cup, last pool game, @BathRugby 63 Edinburgh 10. A surprisingly one-sided thumping, 9 tries to 1 - and that despite a couple of butchered try misses. Alfie Barbeary MotM again, with Borthwick watching. Top place in pool secured -> home advantage R of 16
unlabelledView post →Probably the best rugby game out there right now, new updates are great!! Some glitches, occasionally game-breaking. But for the most part its great. definitely satisfies that rugby game itch.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →best gameplay of any rugby game ever
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game gives me hope that rugby games could make a comeback. The graphics are really not good but the UI and playability far supersedes any rugby game currently on the market. If you're looking for something in-depth I wouldn't recommend it as there's not many game mode but if you want some good rugby fun, buy this. It's dirt cheap too!! My only quarrel is the controls, it took some getting used to but I'm still not comfortable with using 'A' to sprint. It would be nice if there were…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →One word Addictive!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Best Rugby game out there
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Great, cheap rugby game. You don't get all of the thrills of a 'tripleA' rugby game, but it's less than half the cost, so who cares! The rucking and run of play feels like rugby. Controls are complicated at first, but once you get a feel for them you can control the run of play quite well. Presentation is lacking of course, there's no commentary or anything like that, but it beats playing Rugby 08!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →ok if you like a hard game this is for you,,as i cant even win on easy mode,,they just did an update and i played as australia againt georgia and got beaten ,they were offlode kings, and that was on the esayest level out of 5 levels.i think i would get beaten 500 nil on hardest level,so i cant say to much about game as this level of dififlulty is rediculus
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I've loved what I played so far. There's a Roster shared already which has all the proper names for the players, so that gets rid of the hassle for me. Still getting used to the controls, especially since I forget to use A as the sprint button; I wish there was a way to edit the controls. What I like most about the game is the AI, as opponents take advantage of space, defend realistically, and don't make weird offloads and passes their M.O. One can only play the World Cup so many times, so…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Game is clearly unfinished. Game crashed during my first match, the flow of the game is near unplayable and feels like something that should be free through a browser
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Not the way the 3-time defending Major League Rugby Champions wanted, but fortunately for the New England Free Jacks it is only one game. The Free Jacks have their home opener in Quincy against Old Glory DC April 11. #FreeJacks #NEFreeJacks #FreeJacksRugby #MLR2026

Slightly odd game. 2 Bath tries in the first 7 minutes, & the visitors having a man sent off after 25, suggests a stroll, but it was never quite that. Bath still in with a chance of progressing to the knockout stage.
unlabelledView post →Good gameplay makes up for abysmal graphics, but the unliscensed teams suck. good game overall though
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Good rugby game for cheap! Graphics aren't to die for, but definitely has some replayability. I wish you could have an expanded tournament mode with retirees and new players, but the different difficulties make up for that.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Dont try to play with a playstation controller. Button mapping makes no sense and no way to re map them. All controls are told to you on xbox controller with no tutorial. No way to sprint.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Been looking for a Rugby game. I'm a beginner and I like this game after understanding some of the controls. Kicking is the hardest part to understand what buttons to use. I like this game/
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →this is actually better than rugby challenge 4 that couldnt quite improve the movement and gameplay mechanics of Rugby challenge 3 which was really close to creating something truly special. If you combined this with the graphics of rugby challenge, you might actually have a decent rugby game.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Sadly the gameplay is just too clunky.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I mean the ai always seems to just have its way
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Absolutely terrible the game states that you must use a controller to play the game fair enough I prefer to but it doent seem to respond quickly enough. For a game that came out in 2019 the graphics are shocking and I was expecting to see something like 2010 because that is what the graphics look like. Very disappointed.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Controls are confusing, cannot reset the to default, animations not great players seem to float around, crowd is just plain terrible. Can be better but lots of work to be done
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Basic graphics but a very promising gameplay model with you could really enjoy getting used to if it wasn't for that plague of all recent attempts to create a rugby game, a shockingly awful AI model. We all like a closely contested game, but devs only seem to be able to achieve this by making you make endless handling errors the moment you establish a decent lead. Suddenly your whole team is unable to pass catch or tackle and players actively run away from the ball carrier so you only get…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Very good gameplay, just needs more competitions and ability to edit team names.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Criminally underrated.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →i mean its good and and realistic like a rugby game should be but its so blan and boring it needs more competitions like the pro 14 or six nations just add either a custom tournement or unliscensed tournements bc then the people that mod the game can make some good use of it, i like this game allot but it can be sooooo boring
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →7/10 Has certain issues but should be fixed in the next patch or so Passing/offloading is really smooth. Really captures the essence of Rugby. Really a good purchase given the price.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Very good game. First game in a long time that has felt like a real rugby game. The value for money is amazing and there are already custom rosters available which help with the licensing issue. I'm always willing to support a rugby game that has potential and this one definitely does!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →finally a rugby game worth investing in, the graphics will come with time but the base of the game is solid with a fun gameplay. Very similar to rugby 08 and 06. Easy editor to create real life WC squads. There is some stuff to work on but it seems that the developers are listening to the community and willing to make changes.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →For a non big budget Rugby game like Rugby Challenge or EA Sports Rugby 08 it's a step in the right direction. More enjoyable than all other current rugby games other than the Rugby Challenge Series. It lacks the depth you would expect, but it's game play can be fun (if not painful in the way the buttons are set up) It' probably slightly too high priced for the level of content included but in all it's a fun to play game.
