positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I've tried to give this game a solid go, but I just can't seem to get past the terrible combat. At first it's just about serviceable, but 6 hours in, it's not getting any better. It really needs reworking from the ground up as a twin stick shooter in my opinion. Instead, your right stick is wasted on a room rotation gimmick, which admittedly at first seemed cool, but as you progress, it doesn't really serve much purpose. You carry around a shield which you can't really control and may or may…

I thought the game was simply pixel art when I started, but then discovered I can rotate the view around. the car movement is also cool, and fighting enemies in it was satisfying. cool writing, I gagged at some jokes (like running over the poor guy at the hideout, in the beggining, haha) a very solid start with solid mechanics, will play and explore more

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I just started playing this and wasn't going to try it, but I am glad that I did. This game reminds me of the late 80s games with a modern update. If you are looking for something to go back to that nostalgic era, this is a great option to try. Gameplay and Exploration Dungeon exploration is fun with puzzles to solve. Driving feels a little floaty to me but it works. This isn't usually my kind of game, but I am having fun and hope to give it some more time soon. Combat and Controls Fighting…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is a hidden gem. RoadOut is a game with Zeldaish dungeons but in the over world, you are a car. So far the highlights have been the story beats and the main dungeons. The main dungeons usually revolve around one or two mechanics that are explored through various puzzles and combat until a boss battle occurs. The quality has been solid so far and I look forward to continuing to discover what twists dungeons bring. The story beats have been satisfying so far as the writing is strong,…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Okay a bit late to this one however, I may only have like 40 minutes on the game currently I am planning on going back to this one on stream and playing a bit more during my next stream. With that out of the way let's get into the actual review The Combat - It is like if you meshed together Enter the Gungeon combat format and gave it steroids like holy I don't know what the other reviews were on about but on mouse and keyboard the combat feels Glorious. You can shield bash to stun enemies,…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Still early on, but I'm amazed at how entertaining this is. From characters, to music, to gameplay, to narrative. Puzzle, combat, driving... it's all A LOT of honest fun. And the pixel arts looks great.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I play a mercenary named Claire, I drive a weaponized car through a post-apocalyptic desert, I beat the hell out of three rival factions with ridiculous names (the Wasteheads — really?), and between contracts I throw down in Rock'n Roll Racing-style combat races with a banging synthwave soundtrack. What else do you need to know? If that doesn't sell you on the game, nothing I write will.

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Streaming #RoadOut for the first time! This sick-ass RPG has it all: driving sequences, exploration and stuff to collect, badass combat, a talking bear, etc. There's not much else to ask for. Big thanks to the game's publisher for the review key :D
unlabelledView post →RoadOut is a fantastic shooter that seems to have a little bit of everything. Run-and-gun, death races, boss fights, crafting, puzzles... seriously, everything. Fun game, great sense of humour. Published by Dangen, always a mark of quality. Great game, fun post-apoc setting, wacky characters, Action RPG with car missions as well as dungeon crawls, exploring, honestly there's something here for everyone and it's just full of surprises. positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Road Out is an RPG. The game name is a little bit deceiving. There's a lot of exploration involved. You may think you're stuck in a room, but you'll have to use your shield to push switches around to get the right combo kind of game. Road Out is a good puzzler type, with the puzzles not being overly difficult. The developer has been making updates regularly for a few days in a row to make the game better. The save feature works fine, as I think there may have been a save issue before. At this…

unlabelledView post →The bass lines in the music is amazing! Art and Narrative are good. Mechanics and game feel can be a little jank. I'd say it took a few hours of playing on and off again and a restart before I really dug it. The amazing bass line in the jungle pushed me to do this review.
