Critics, per Wikipedia
PC Gamer wrote "Randal's Monday gets it painfully wrong, mistaking convoluted and crazy for funny and logical to the point of being tedious and infuriating to play even with an in-game walk-through for when you've had enough." IGN said "Randal’s Monday has a clever premise that deserves better treatment than it does in this crude, baffling adventure". GameSpot concluded "Randal's Monday is blind hero worship that ignores decades of design theory and leaves an unpleasant aftertaste thanks to its thoroughly unlikable, homogeneous cast." In 2017, HobbyConsolas named Randal's Monday one of the greatest Spanish games ever released.

That said, several of its puzzles felt frustrating rather than clever to me, and at times they completely killed the fun. Some solutions rely on overly complicated design or logic that’s hard to follow, which can make progress feel arbitrary instead of rewarding. The UI doesn’t help either and could have been handled much better. There’s clearly a lot of creativity on display, but sometimes it feels like the game…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Pigeons are blocking the way, and the protagonist says the pigeons look hungry, so I try to give the pigeons a sandwich, but the protagonist responds with "That's just stupid". Is it? Is it "stupid" to try to give hungry pigeons a sandwich?
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →My Playtime: 10.9h (100% achievement, finished the game) Grindy Achievement(s): No. Optional Achievement(s): Yes (9 achievements). Difficult Achievement(s): No. Intro Randal's Monday is a point-and-click game that tells the story of Randal who is reliving Monday due to a curse. The dialogues have a lot of references to other Eastern materials and might be confusing to follow unless you know what they are talking about. Pros: - A button to show interactable objects - Hint system that acts like…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Nice visuals, animations, and audio but the writing is sadly abysmal, dialogues and story are the opposite of engaging. Not recommended.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I wanted to like this game. I really tried to like this game. I was originally expecting Deponia-level quality, given that Daedalic is the publisher (only the publisher, NOT the developer, don't be fooled). I played through a good chunk of it in 2015 before my computer died on me and I lost all the data, and then I tried to play it again from the beginning more recently, after forgetting most things from my previous attempt. But I just. Could. Not. Get through this game. Randal is a typical…

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Randal’s Monday, developed by Nexus Game Studios and published by Daedalic Entertainment, is a point-and-click adventure that revels in its love for classic 1990s adventure games while drenching itself in dark humor, irreverence, and an overwhelming amount of pop culture references. The game follows Randal Hicks, an unscrupulous slacker and kleptomaniac whose life spirals into chaos after he steals his best friend’s engagement ring and inadvertently becomes trapped in a time loop. Each morning…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Tons of boring, uninteresting, bloated and uneventful dialogue Uninteresting characters Paired with bad and emotionless voice acting Neat idea but gameplay is lost to waiting for or skipping dialogue which is about 80% of what you'll be doing
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Waiting for Randal's Tuesday
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A love letter to classic LucasArts adventures packed with pop-culture references, dark humor, and a time-loop premise that’s genuinely fun. Unfortunately, the classic adventure-game curse strikes hard here, the moon-logic puzzles will have you smashing random inventory items together in sheer desperation. If you're a hardcore 90s nostalgia nerd with patience to burn (or a walkthrough open), it's worth a look.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A hardcore point-and-click adventure dripping with cynical humor and an ocean of pop-culture references. The puzzles are delightfully cruel, and the voice acting is top-tier. However, the protagonist is intentionally insufferable, and the slow-paced, text-heavy dialogue can test patience. A love-it-or-hate-it gem for classic adventure fans.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game is really quite bad. The art style of ctrl+alt+del comics mixed with edgy pop culture references from 2012 era reddit. The game has basically no original ideas and everything takes forever. A very tedious affair.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I had high hopes for this game. The visuals looked great and I thought the story looked interesting. Wrong. Long, drawn-out dialogue, and a story that I just didn't care about. While I did finish the game, I ended up using a walk-through just to get the game finished and off my list. I'm not sure what would have made this better, but I'll think twice before purchasing anything like this game again.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The game gets pretty bad at times but what did people expect if the game is still pretty green it's because it was their first game and the studio closed a long time ago but hey it's sad to think sometimes how a group of people have their wings clipped for not creating a masterpiece on their first try
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Starts off with a fun concept and solid enough gameplay, but quickly plummets into mediocrity. I typically love Daedalic's adventure games, but this one was truly mediocre. Needlessly-long-winded dialogue that is neither funny nor informative. Characters that are neither interesting in personality nor memorable in design. An extreme reliance on references to pop culture and video games as a replacement for any kind of personable experience, used almost like a constant point of humor that is…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It starts off great, but fails to land. They set up rules then break those rules like a yu-gi-oh episode. There were so many times I got stuck, because they could have given a much better description of what you needed to do or hint to items. So to me this game fell flat and the ending was just... bad (no spoilers)
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Yeah I'm a gamer 😎 *Refuses to play any other game besides Wizard101, Alice Madness Returns, Randal's Monday, or The Sims*
unlabelledView post →Such a bad game. I really wanted to like it it because of all of the insane amount of fun references to hear and see everywhere you go and the kevin smith characters and references, but the puzzles are so convoluted. The one puzzle that really sent me over the top was one in the prison. I used the hint system for it, and in the hint the developers said that there is no sort of clues to the solving of the puzzle which has hundreds of different possible combinations that would have to be tried…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Farcical, slapstick, and a little grotesque, this visual novel focused on a protagonist you would love to hate. One moment, you hated his guts and the next, you could not help but empathise. The dialogues can be a little long so unless you are looking forward to investing yourself in a story, you may tend to get bored and find it draggy. The puzzles can be a little hard; sometimes it makes sense and sometimes you have to be absolutely nonsensical with it, although I believe the game was trying…

unlabelledView post →I really like the humor and art style, you will probably enjoy the game the most of time! Right, MOST of time. Some puzzles are absurd ("homemade lockpick" - I'm looking at you) and solutions are made to find them on random tries... And the user interaface, if you need in "Point & Click" games switch the pages, then you created it wrong. And here you will change pages so many times!
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The game definitely consists of a lot of dark humor which I rather enjoyed. Kept me amused for a hot minute and the puzzles aren't super complicated either.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Just a bad game imo. Aside from the inane puzzles that take way too many steps to complete and the random logic behind them, this game suffers from grave insincerity. The characters always quip about crazy stuff that has happened off screen in the past but during the gameplay, Randal is the most mid, average and cowardly guy. Plus, all the characters are extremely obnoxious and unlikeable. I had wanted to play this game for years and while I don't necessarily regret it, I expect it to be a lot…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Randall’s Monday — Played: 69.7h | Achievements: 18/21 | Steam Deck: Unknown TL;DR: A geeky, comic-style point & click that feels like Groundhog Day got kidnapped by nerd culture and forced to tell bad jokes (good bad jokes). Randall is an absolute jerk… and that’s exactly why it works. If you love old-school adventure games and pop-culture chaos, this one’s a yes. Some games try to make you the hero. Randall’s Monday makes you the problem. You play Randall: a lovable piece of trash who…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I wanted to be like Rufus or ...Randal! R&R
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The story isn't very engaging and the lead character isn't half as charming or witty as he thinks he is. This is another point-and-click where the answers value random experimentation over logic. Just not the kind of game for me.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The game has a lot of references like ghostbusters, back to the future and ground hogs day, in fact it has far more references than jokes, and most of the attempts at humor don't work. From the whole game I only remember one thing which I found funny. In concept there is a lot of room to have fun with the idea of resetting days and the idea of the universe shifting to match your changes, but it doesn't manifest. Adventure games live and die on humor and story and this one doesn't have it. None…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →21/21 achievements Well, uhmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm, simply sublime, the game is incredible, plus it has a story that i would say is unique because i've never played a game like this where u go back to the same day, but whatever, its simply cinematic (btw the game has some DAMNNN good puzzles)

unlabelledView post →A great game. I did not love it the first time, but 6 years later I managed to beat it without looking at a walkthrough. Every puzzle can be solved in a logical illogical way. Try to remember other quests you've played when you get stuck. Or realize that this is not a serious game and everything is possible. Listen to the dialogue. There are always hints. Appreciate the logical absurdity of the game. Become Randal. Great quest. I haven't enjoyed a Point & Click title in a very long…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Randal’s Monday is a gem for fans of dark humor and classic point-and-click games. The sarcastic dialogue and endless pop culture references make it feel like it was made for nerds like me. The puzzles are challenging but fair, and the time-loop plot keeps you guessing. It’s witty, chaotic, and ridiculously fun!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Awesome point and click game with great story and characters. Positives: -Story -Voice acting -Characters -addition of being able to choose between old school / new school controls Negatives: -Not really anything major, one crash after alt tabbing while playing. -Few instances of sound quality dropping 4.5/5 Would recommend
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Game is funny. Has a story that involves a time loop. You get to play as Randal from Clerks. That being said, just like the movie there's tons, I mean tons of dialogue. Be prepared to pay attention. It's voiced so you don't have to read if you don't want to. You can't die. You can't accidentally use an item wrong, so you won't ever have to start over again. But remember to save in case you want to get all the trophies. There's a lot of gameplay for completionists. Lots of fun references to old…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Прикольная рисовка, не могу вспомнить, что напоминает. Возможно, Гектора. Отсылки, кровяка, пока из всего издательского каталога Daedalic этот релиз зашел мне больше всего.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The game is very rich in easter eggs, which are literally left and right, and it was fun just being "Oh this is from this game or this movie" and there were still plenty that I didn't recognize. It's also quite humorous and doesn't take itself too seriously, but some might be put off as they don't shy away from stronger language either. Did quite enjoy the puzzles, even with the couple of times I got stuck on one particular thing, that just eluded me for some time. After finishing the game, I…

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Everyone is cynical and annoying.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Randal's Monday is one of those games I've known about since it came out, loved it, completely forgot existed, and then randomly remembered years later while talking to a friend about something unrelated. Despite it having its flaws, I have a real soft spot for the game. Beyond being a love letter to classic point & click adventures and being absolutely packed with references (I even dare say way too many) to just about every form of media imaginable, the game has a strong identity of its own,…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Average at best 5/10 Note: for people that liked the first part there is a second part "Randal's Tuesday" (released not too long ago) which seems to have gotten almost no attention. Mechanics/UI: -Has a function to show interactable objects which is useful (even though I many objects are not relevant) -inventory system is kind of tedious in my opinion. And I find it to be a bummer that the character isn't hinting at how an iitem can be used 90% of the time. Puzzle: -often illogical (the gun…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I originally beat Randal's Monday on.. I want to say the Playstation 4 as I was looking for Point 'n' Click Adventure Games as I waited on my delayed Physical Edition of Broken Sword Reforged. The graphics leave a lot to be desired but I have a feeling this is a stylistic choice, the plot is wacky and zany straight out of an 80's Inspired Era which it clearly takes inspiration from but has some dated 00's references to enjoy which as we're all nostalgic for that era right now sits right at…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A dose of humor and absurdity in classic adventure style. each scene feels like a comedy film with unexpected twists and funny characters. highly entertaining and full of laughs highly recommended.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →is fun and funny
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Fun game with good puzzles and a lot of great references to other series.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Randal’s Monday is anything but ordinary; it constantly keeps you guessing where the story is headed, making it hard to look away. The dialogue can sometimes be a weak point, but overall it’s engaging enough to keep you entertained. It may not be a classic on the level of The Day of the Tentacle, yet for the price it often goes for, I can’t give it less than an 8/10.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →After the first few chapters you have to play with a walk-through in another tab because the game expects you to make insane devices that any rational person would predict failing, and then when you use the gizmos in the game they don't work, so i really don't know what they were thinking. If you don't mind that, I ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ love this ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ lmao. It's not a good game by any means, but the art is fun, and its just hysterical. Maybe not in the intentional way, but HAL9000 from Space Odyssey…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Way to many bugs. First bug as soon as game play started. ESC key will not open menu. No way to change video settings. black bars covering most play options. No way to correct if you can not open the menu. playtime 8 mins.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Marvelous game! Pros: - Outstanding voice acting. Randal's voice actor was born to play Randal. - High quality humor and hillarious writing. - Very interesting and engaging plot. Cons : - Some puzzles are plain unsolvable without bruteforcing. Overall, the game is a modern hidden gem.
