unlabelledView post →Before it leaves at the end of the month, watch Jonathan Demme's RACHEL GETTING MARRIED (2008) At once tender, painfully honest, and incisively funny, the film abounds with the rich and eclectic characters Demme specialized in creating, brought to life by a virtuoso ensemble cast.
unlabelledView post →Good lord, Anne Hathaway is something in Rachel Getting Married. I’ve always liked watching her, but this is next level.
unlabelledView post →"Many directors find truth in skepticism, but Jonathan Demme often found it in the sparseness of in-betweens. He knew the great promise of rehearsals: for wedding dinners & musical performances & people trying on new ways to heal.” - @lindseyromain.bsky.social on RACHEL GETTING MARRIED
unlabelledView post →Still thinking about Rachel Getting Married. I find myself writing about Hathaway’s performance in my head while I’m walking, which means I’ll feature the movie in my newsletter eventually. This @brightwalldarkroom.com piece by @lindseyromain.bsky.social gets across what’s so special here.
unlabelledView post →Saw Rachel Getting Married (2008) last night. Will try to formulate more coherent thoughts than “this is the best film I have seen in a long while” but it is certainly that
unlabelledView post →RACHEL GETTING MARRIED (Jonathan Demme, 2008). What an amazing film this is! I’m struggling to think of a better portrayal of a family trying to navigate the trauma of grief, guilt, blame and addiction, all while trying to get through what should be a joyous celebration. unlabelledView post →Still haven’t seen it but she’s absolutely incredible in Rachel Getting Married which is one of my favorites. The hate happened around the time she won the Oscar for Les Mis, a movie that sucked ass but not because of her.

unlabelledView post →Just found some papers in a drawer that reminded me: Jonathan Demme's film "Rachel Getting Married" had a working title of "Dancing With Shiva," which I preferred. More evocative, less generic. I enjoyed working on the film (as sound designer) & Jonathan was always a pleasure, in my experience.

unlabelledView post →RACHEL GETTING MARRIED // Sorry, but this movie shreds. Also, I think this film — more than mumblecore, more than Woody Allen — is the blueprint for the tv sadcom, which, sorry again, is a good genre of tv.
unlabelledView post →among other bangers released in July, Rachel Getting Married is one of the best movies about family (or anything really) I've ever seen, Demme really snapped on that one, top 25 movie for me probably

unlabelledView post →Unfun fact: I once tried to get my parents to watch "Rachel Getting Married" to understand me and, from my understanding, that did not go well. They did not not finish the movie.
unlabelledView post →Rachel Getting Married feels like a horror film specifically tailored to me right now.
unlabelledView post →It has come to my attention that Laura Dern—who worked with Jonathan Demme on Enlightened—says in her quote that she worked with Jonathan Demme on Rachel Getting Married—a film she does not appear to have a credit on.
unlabelledView post →Among many other directors, Roger Corman launched Jonathan Demme's career. In return, Demme gave him a memorable role in "Rachel Getting Married," the movie that helped me the most in my quest to stop drinking. So the director of "X: The Man With X-Ray Eyes" helped save my life. R.I.P.
unlabelledView post →Y’all if you are, I as am, decades late to this particular film, I want to let you know that Debra Winger plays a minor character in Rachel Getting Married.
unlabelledView post →I only saw Rachel Getting Married very recently, and good lord Hathaway’s performance in that film is something.
unlabelledView post →For my April new release book for HRCYED I’m reading YESTERYEAR, which is a book where a tradwife influencer is sent to the past. It’s supposed to get a movie adaptation starting Anne Hathaway and I hope they let her go full RACHEL GETTING MARRIED mode on this because this heroine is so unpleasant.
unlabelledView post →Wypipo! I know I'm *extremely* late to this, but...WTF do y'all see in the movie 'Rachel Getting Married'??? I feel like I have to be missing SOMETHING.
unlabelledView post →3. Rachel Getting Married. The best movie I've seen about recovery from alcoholism.
unlabelledView post →Watched Rachel Getting Married last night, a great movie that despite being really raw and intense also finds time to be like 25% about Demme just hanging out filming musicians
unlabelledView post →I'm realizing that the fact that "Rachel Getting Married" is on my Five Movies To Get To Know Me list is probably a red flag. Also possibly the fact that it might be the lightest movie on that list.
unlabelledView post →When you’re rewatching a movie that has labels from a long dead company. Now watching: RACHEL GETTING MARRIED (2008).
unlabelledView post →I was gonna blost that the guy who made Silence of the Lambs is kinda just, "he made that one movie" kind of director, and said movie is mostly just fine But like, he also made Rachel Getting Married So I guess yeah, he made a fine one and a Very good one Commendable.
unlabelledView post →Now for another movie about alcoholism and weddings. Now watching Rachel Getting Married
unlabelledView post →Someone should program a film festival of titular characters that aren’t the lead characters. CHASING AMY and RACHEL GETTING MARRIED are 2 more.
unlabelledView post →apparently, today i am failing as both "wypipo" and a film professor because not only have i not seen Rachel Getting Married, i forgot it even existed. i checked the wikipedia entry. tbh, award recognized or not, it doesn't seem my cup of tea (e.g. it sounds kind of boring).

unlabelledView post →Rewatched RACHEL GETTING MARRIED a few nights ago for the first time since it came out and was pleasantly surprised to see him pop up for like, maybe 5 minutes of screen time. Good movie!
unlabelledView post →2015's 'Krisha' is an extraordinary but emotionally brutal film. It reminded me of 'Rachel Getting Married' in its fly-on-the-wall realism mixed with the bracing truths of fractured families. The movie itself is outstanding, but it was probably a mistake to watch it on the day before Thanksgiving!
unlabelledView post →Loved him in Rachel Getting Married too, and the music in that movie is really cool as well

But this is the first time in one of the upstairs theaters since HAPPINESS, back when they had beanbag chairs on the floor. Weird movie to watch on a beanbag chair, I’ll tell ya hwhat
unlabelledView post →I didn't realize RACHEL GETTING MARRIED was directed by Jonathan Demme but suddenly it makes so much sense to me. What a great fucking movie
unlabelledView post →Anne Hathaway delivers one of the best performances of her career in Jonathan Demme's 2008 film, Rachel Getting Married.
unlabelledView post →Rachel Getting Married is a great movie. I saw it years ago and I still think about it often. She gives an incredible performance.
unlabelledView post →Post a pic from a film which you think was underrated or never got the attention it deserved. Rachel Getting Married
unlabelledView post →This is always the issue On a side not, I’m pretty sure I saw Tunde on a tv show or movie earlier this year, can’t remember where though. I remember him popping up in Rachel Getting Married. I was like…wait, I know that dude!

unlabelledView post →I'm watching Sharp Objects and it kind of reminds me of the Anne Hathaway film Rachel Getting Married? I feel like I was the only person who didn't really like the family in Rachel Getting Married but in Sharp Objects it actually tells you why they're dislikable
unlabelledView post →"Rachel Getting Married" isn't a movie about a trans woman but damn if it doesn't feel like it could be at times.
unlabelledView post →#NowWatching Rachel Getting Married Been quite sometime since I last saw this movie with Anne Hathaway but it’s perfect time to revisit it! #filmsky
unlabelledView post →I was not, but I did thoroughly enjoy reading some of those. One for Rachel Getting Married had me howling. Such a tearing into that movie
unlabelledView post →I watched Rachel Getting Married on criterion last fall and he had a cameo and it got me on a Robyn kick. Great movie.
unlabelledView post →Lovely stuff Rick - thanks a lot. Will come back to it, particularly after seeing The Searchers for the first time at the PCC on Boxing Day. Keen to see Rachel Getting Married too. Re A Real Pain, I wonder if you've seen Old Joy - feels like a boiler plate for the movie, particularly the ending.
unlabelledView post →Always great to see Rachel Getting Married getting some love! Tunde is superb in that movie too. Could definitely do to see him act more.
unlabelledView post →Rachel Getting Married (2008) by Jonathan Demme. Very miserable film about the stigmatisaion of mental illness and drug addiction. Though it kinda has a hopeful ending but yeah the film hits a lot of spots. Ordinary People (1980), also very sad. OP is the better of the two tho
unlabelledView post →"hey, didn't I see you on cops?" For this month's movie swap, @amandaluberto.bsky.social and I watched a couple sisters screw up a couple of weddings lol... I watched RACHEL GETTING MARRIED for the first time, and Amanda watched MARGOT AT THE WEDDING. open.spotify.com/episode/2B7V...
unlabelledView post →Have you seen the movie Rachel Getting Married?
unlabelledView post →Rachel Getting Married is the perfect movie trust me
unlabelledView post →Meant to say "at least twice". Probably four times. Another movie I find emotionally painful, but an excellent watch, is Rachel Getting Married. The few people I know who have seen it, hated it. Being a (non-practicing) alcoholic, I probably relate to it more than most.
