Puzzle Agent
Developer Telltale
Puzzle Agent (formerly Nelson Tethers: Puzzle Agent) is an adventure/puzzle game by Telltale Games, in collaboration with Graham Annable. It is the first game to come out of Telltale's pilot project. The game was influenced by the works of David Lynch, Stanley Kubrick and the Coen brothers (most notably Twin Peaks and Fargo). This is one of two Telltale Games titles that have an original character, the other being… From Wikipedia (CC BY-SA 4.0)

Being able to emulate a mouse with trackball-style physics in a controller was so cool. I've stuck with it over the years. The two trackpads are just so nice to use, especially once you get familiar with the crazy wizard tricks you can do with Steam Input.

He worked at Lucasfilm Games/Lucasarts, written/drawn books, designed Puzzle Agent I & II for Telltale Games, has [great Youtube cartoons](https://www.youtube.com/@grickle), and posts great cartoons to [social media](https://mstdn.social/@grickle) too!

unlabelledView post →Fun short visual novel with puzzles. Most puzzles are quite easy but some are pretty hard. Story has horror/mystery & comedy elements. Reminds me of the game "Professor Layton". Cool hand-drawn style. Great voice acting & music. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3388613080 https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3389526672 Worth checking out👍

unlabelledView post →It is funny and short with some Twin Peaks vibe. Highly recommended. Pity there are no achievements.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Precious few video games have ever made me laugh out loud as much as Puzzle Agent. It's wonderfully odd, with a wonderful cast of bizarre and endearing characters. Also, I am *terrible* at lateral thinking but I made it through using only the in-game hint system.
unlabelledView post →Gameplay-wise it's just Layton Professor. Story with puzzles that are like separate puzzles from puzzle books that don't interconnect with each other. Both Puzzle Agent 1 and 2 are part of the same storyline with largery same gameplay so you probably should get them together, albeit 2 leaves many plotholes and loose ends, woot. But Graham Annable style, wooh! That newspaper cartoonist style turned cozy, woah, it's not just static visual, it's in the whole game. Slightly thriller, many small…

unlabelledView post →Didn't much care for any of the puzzles. I liked the story even though it was short and the artwork was good. But the puzzles were only difficult because the rules were confusing or because they lacked context. Otherwise they were all pretty easy. Only had to use a pen and paper on a few.

unlabelledView post →Very funny, very cute, the puzzles probably won't completely break your brain. Worth the couple/few hours it'll take to work through.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It is fun and silly. Sort of a Twin Peaks meets Fargo meets Puzzles
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Puzzle Agent 2: 4/10 consider me old-fashioned, but if your game has "puzzle" in the title, i may just be expecting said puzzles to be good. not, for instance, a bunch of repeated sliding puzzles and "guess what i'm thinking" riddles. sorry to michael for not streaming this for him, btw. #auggymedia

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Puzzle Agent is an adventure/puzzle game by Telltale Games. It released in 2010 and was the first game in their experimenting with other ways to make and play games. I loved this game, though it should be known that Puzzle Agent and Puzzle Agent 2 are actually one full game. This first game will end on a cliffhanger that is picked up and resolved in the second game. The puzzles were quite difficult but also a lot of fun. And I certainly didn’t expect the spookier elements but it totally made…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I loved this game, a really fun way to add puzzles into a short story game. Some of the puzzles were a lot more challenging than others but the overall game was a really decent level.

All puzzles are in a pen and paper aesthetic and under no time stress. Good difficulty level of challenging but not hard. Very different levels sometimes between very easy to maybe lacking in foolproof instruction clarity. Opportunity to hint system. A good bonus is the voicelines for all dialogue! Cliffhanger. Be…

Yes, I grew out my real beard but shaved my mustache for this one. If you’ve gotten this far you are required to play Puzzle Agent. 🧩
unlabelledView post →Truthfully, this game was just not my vibe at all. The puzzles weren't always formulated clearly, and the plotline... Well, it left quite a bit to be desired. It was too wacky, but that might also just be a me thing 🙈
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →How would you rank a Professor Layton game? Or, if it's indies only, Telltale's Puzzle Agent?
unlabelledView post →Difficulty level depends on how familiar you are with the types of puzzles used, but I found it ranging from "easy" to "requiring some patience and note-taking". One or two puzzles were harder than intended because I got confused by vague instructions. I liked the weird vibes of the town, but be aware that Puzzle Agent 1 and 2 are very clearly one story split in two parts, so the bigger mystery won't be resolved here.

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Puzzle Agent If you like puzzles, this is a charming little game. Where most adventure games center around figuring out what item to use where, Puzzle Agent has a more traditional puzzle format, more focused on logic puzzles, brain teasers, and self contained puzzles, which is neat. Cool art too
unlabelledView post →This review is powered by red wine. This game is ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ amazing, the storyline is gripping, the puzzles are enter-♥♥♥♥♥♥♥-taining. Its a great game to play with others locally, not like anything we've played before. Puzzle agent 2 is great aswell, with this 90% discount on at the moment its really a no brainer/

unlabelledView post →You have no idea of how much of a fright the gnome jumpscare gave me when I was playing the demo of Puzzle Agent growing up. The full game moving the related pipe puzzle to a different part of the game also messed with me a little bit and perhaps unintentionally set the right mood for the game.
unlabelledView post →Still my fave telltale game is Puzzle Agent and the ost rules. Very Fargo/Twin Peaks youtu.be/lKmYt53EaOA?...
unlabelledView post →When I first started playing Puzzle Agent I was surprised the puzzles were bog-standard paper-and-pencil puzzles with some annoying "complete the circuit" point-and-click classics thrown in. My disappointment grew as I continued playing until it reached outright annoyance that the devs weren't doing anything original with the format, and I'm ashamed to admit I looked up the answers to some of the more intelligent puzzles just to get through with the game. But then I remembered that I love…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A small Telltale adventure filled with puzzles! This is an excellent small and quick Telltale game. It's very simple and you won't get Monkey Island level puzzles but it has a very nice graphic style and is easy to play. You are a FBI agent from the Puzzle Division, you will go to a town with lots of colorful characters. Many different type of puzzles will be presented to you. The less you use hints or the less you provide wrong answers will give you a higher rating in the Puzzle Division…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Diary of a Wimpy Kid meets Twin Peaks meets that random mobile game your mom plays. Short yet sweet, challenging at times (I’m stupid.) but absolutely amazing. The game has a really amazing small-town feel & storyline to follow along with. There's also hot dish & gnomes. 10/10

Dark Souls 2 because it's better then 3 (*^^*) Also because I could not find good gifs of Age of Wonders Brigador Dominions Gloomwood Risk of Rain Signal from Tölva Last Door Shotgun King Darkwood House of Doors Puzzle Agent Oxenfree I like too many games (^_^;)
unlabelledView post →In the end my favorite part of this game isn't even puzzles - though they are pretty decent, even though on an easier side (except few trickier ones near the end). My favorite part is the story - it's fun, with some colorful characters, a bit silly, but also unexpectedly, pretty spooky And the cliffhanger does its job and makes me want to go play Puzzle Agent 2 immediately
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →TLDR: I stopped the game at this point, because there are puzzles that even when following the rules, do not take every possibility into account. Sometimes there are hidden rules, that are not told to us, but are assumed to exist, causing you to fail puzzles and get frustrated. Full Review: The game feels weird. The art is a certain style, but I don't mind it and it fits the humor and voices that are used. The game holds your hand a lot. You do not roam around the area's freely, where you…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →An enjoyable animated movie with puzzles in-between scenes. The difficulty is just right, the story is intriguing, the art style is cool, but the ending is one of the most abrupt and unsatisfying endings I've ever seen in any media. Still worth it tho.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I just played through the first Puzzle Agent game, and while short, it definitely satisfied the itch. Yes, gameplay wise it IS just a Layton clone, but it had a plenty interesting plot on its own merits. I look forward to playing its sequel.
unlabelledView post →Came back to play it again after 15 years. Love the humour, music and atmosphere. The characters are all unique.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The story of this FBI agent is just a mean to address you 30+ puzzles of various difficulty. So, negative? No, because, maybe the music, the drawings, the locations, the suspence...put these ingredients together and you get an elegant and well balanced game. You must love the puzzles, clearly, the winter scenarios of loneliness in the remote USA, and being not so scared by gnomes. Gnomes?

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A great vibe and incredibly fun story! If you're a fan of David Lynch or the Coen Brothers you will have a lot of fun with this game! The Sheriff is my favorite character from the game.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is a puzzle adventure game where you solve a bunch of individual small puzzles to advance the storyline. I gave up on it in less than an hour; it didn't age well at all in my opinion. It felt like an inferior version of the Professor Layton series, with humor that I found quite grating. (Much of it is basically "isn't the rural Upper Midwest funny? Har har? Oh they are going to eat HOT DISH! And it's cold outside!" I don't know if it improves later.) The artwork is cool, but the animation…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Post a screenshot of your first 5 Steam purchases and let Bluesky judge you I stand by these, I think.
