I remember watching the Hunchback of Notre Dame and Pocahontas trailers on my little VHSes over and over just to see it, lol

To all the moms whether you have kids or cats or dogs or rats or birds or loved ones that you help mother, I send all my love to you & hope you have a beautiful day today! Here's a timeline cleanser. "Wingapo" is Algonquian & used in this cat's favorite movie, Pocahontas.
unlabelledView post →It is definitely just outright censorship sadly - discussed this elsewhere, but one of my videos from about a month ago was only recently hit with limited ads, apparently since I brought up the real story of Pocahontas, with her being SA'd, as opposed to the Disney version. Funny how that works.

unlabelledView post →It's been 30 years since Disney released their most unexpected success. They thought this would be their B-movie compared to Pocahontas when they were making both, but The Lion King surprised everyone by being one of the biggest hits of the 1990s and a true cinematic masterpiece.
unlabelledView post →You could say “well she’s not a princess and in a kinda dark, fucked up fraught movie” but that also covers Pocahontas and Mulan. Also I don’t really care because it’s a toy line, but this movie is bleak as hell.
unlabelledView post →The LLM lied. Those aren't quotes from Lion King, Pinocchio, Pocahontas, Aristocats, or Winnie the Pooh. (Christopher Robin did say that, but not in that specific movie. And it's not particularly antifa either) Also, Dr Dawson isn't from the Aristocats. He's from Great Mouse Detective, and didn't say the line there either.

Holy cow - the animation is mind blowingly next level. Apparently, it was the first digitally finished animated film, ever. Yet, it completely tanked at the box office. Its director also later did Pocahontas, and animated most Disney hits in the last 30 years. Do yourself a favor and rewatch this gem. No need to watch the original first. It’s a completely different…
unlabelledView post →I’m never sure how much of social media is staged but there is a woman on Instagram who gives her cat buttons to communicate with her, and the cat appears to have used the buttons to repeatedly request the Walt Disney film Pocahontas
unlabelledView post →Stephen Schwartz made up the term "blue corn moon" when he wrote the song Colors of the Wind. This is the only historical inaccuracy in film Pocahontas.
unlabelledView post →It's really sad that Disney's Pocahontas has such an offensive premise with stereotypes dated even for the 90s, because the film is visually really beautiful and probably has my fav color palettes in the art design
unlabelledView post →Pocahontas is such a complete fucking trainwreck of a movie lmao
unlabelledView post →Share an ANIMATED movie title that begins with the letter “O” or “P” 🎥 P is for… Pocahontas ❤️
unlabelledView post →I’m watching the Disney Pocahontas and ignoring the obviously problematic love story, I’m impressed by the frank depiction of white greed and racism this movie managed to pull off. I don’t think they do this in mainstream children’s content anymore.
unlabelledView post →Oddly all I remember about the movie is I got my first pack of M&Ms with the New Blue M&M in it when I went to the theater to see Pocahontas. I then found myself desperately holding up the candy in the dimly lit theater looking at what I voted for more times than I should have.
unlabelledView post →This #TimelineCleanse is one of the cutest yet. This cat Flounder Meatloaf is obsessed with the Pocahontas cartoon movie. Her owner arranged a real life meet-up with a Pocahontas actor & the cat had a blast.
unlabelledView post →You know, the only Disney villain they'll never try to give a redemption movie for, or ever try to get the POV of, is Ratcliffe from Pocahontas. (y'know, like with Cruella or Maleficent) Which kind of makes him the best classic Disney villain, right up there with Claude Frollo.
unlabelledView post →As a movie Disneys Pocahontas is fraught with so many problematic elements of sanitising history and playing into sexualised stereotypes. And they also cooked with “you can own the earth and still, all you’ll own is earth until” as a lyric
unlabelledView post →Idk if this is true but I remember hearing that if you couldn’t cut it as an animator on Pocahontas you got demoted to the “stuff animal movie” aka The Lion King
unlabelledView post →Katzenberg also wanted to take Part of your World out of Little Mermaid because he thought kids would think it was boring, and also he considered Lion King a film of less importance when they were making Pocahontas.
unlabelledView post →Is 1995 taught inside Disney as a warning that nobody has a clue what audiences want? They really banked hard on Pocahontas as their grand film for the year and it was a debacle ultimately. Meanwhile the tossed off Goofy movie and the weird computer side thing were classics.
unlabelledView post →I paused Pocahontas to make dinner and didn’t notice Ratcliffe’s angry face until I came back to unpause the movie
unlabelledView post →It got to whatever the orchestral music that plays right at the end of the movie, when John Smith is put back on the boat to England and Pocahontas runs to the end of a cliff to wave him off. When that track played, my mom asked, "Is that that part of the movie, where Pocahontas says goodbye?"
unlabelledView post →I’m not sure I follow this. Pocahontas grossed $346 million worldwide while Goofy Movie grossed under $40. I know there’s a bunch of millennials who care a lot about the later but I’m not sure the actual economics are there when it comes to downstream markets.
unlabelledView post →I’ve never watched his stupid Blue Pocahontas film and nothing anyone says can ever make me lol
unlabelledView post →Can’t believe I forgot to mention one major grievance from Jeffrey Katzenberg: pushing for Pocahontas to be Best Picture material while Lion King would be a B project. I think Ed from the latter film speaks for all of us.

unlabelledView post →I never even saw it. From what I heard it's basically Pocahontas in space. The main new thing was that it was the first major 3D movie, so I'm not very surprised it didn't stick.
unlabelledView post →I said it and I stand by it! A GOOFY MOVIE is a home run and stands tall next to any of Disney's other classics of the era. In fact... A GOOFY MOVIE > TARZAN, MULAN, HERCULES, and POCAHONTAS Come at me, Disney pervs. (I like most of those other movies)

You know how a physics problem might say "assume a frictionless environment" or something of that nature, in order to focus on a specific point or phenomena? Unobtanium is sort of like that. Picture a bunch of aerospace engineers in the mid-50s, talking about how they're gonna put a person in space. They're throwing all their spaghetti against the wall, hoping some of…

unlabelledView post →Something that upsets me is that Pocahontas (1995) is named Pocahontas and not some other made up name of a person who did not exist because this movie is legit good and the stink of romanticizing a child’s rape to a white colonizer is impossible to wash off

unlabelledView post →Each year I like to draw one character (usually a Disney princess) in a winter/holiday outfit and since it's her movie 30th anniversary and one of my favourite characters, I did Pocahontas, based in the 90s doll Winter Moon. #fanart #pocahontas #disneyprincess
unlabelledView post →Revisited Pocahontas and I think this movie is a true dud. The central romance is stupid, it feels gross to make a Disney princess of a real person, and the climax both-sideses colonial violence, and nothing in it is great enough to make up for any of it.
unlabelledView post →This paired with the tired trope of "White man better for native woman, native woman's fiance bad and rude cause he rude to white man and want to kill him" makes the romance in this film unbearable to me. Pocahontas did this, and they just took some of the worst from that film. I hate it here.
unlabelledView post →While I wait for my Disney dolls to ship I want to mention. Pocahontas was always my favorite 2D animated Disney movie since I was a kid; it’s stunning. But the story is awful. Please educate yourself on the true story of “Pocahontas” and how the movie capitalizes on such awful tragedy.

unlabelledView post →How I'd describe Pocahontas is that this was clearly Disney's Oscar Bait film after being genuinely surprised by Beauty and The Beast getting that unexpected Best Picture nom back in 1992 and wanted to chase after that high again. I mean, it's an historical drama/ sorta romance as animated musical.
