55 of 55 · most liked firstMe and @distortio3.bsky.social have gone down the rabbit hole of what are called "crackhouse movies" (ie, Space Chimps, Planet 51, Escape from Planet 51) and we are planning to watch them. I have a list of movies like this that are free on YouTube here. Anyone got any suggestions?

unlabelledView post →Oh, please let the film for next month’s Classic Review be better than whatever the hell Planet 51 was…😬

unlabelledView post →The fact that AniMat thinks that a sci-fi movie from 2009 is worse than Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs is honestly surprising and a long-time coming. Regardless of your thoughts on his opinion on the latter (I love it imo), we can all agree that Planet 51 made the first Cloudy movie look like Up.

IT'S 23% ON ROTTEN TOMATOES. HOW DARE THEY. Planet 51 is one of my favorite movies ever. I just love the concept a lot
unlabelledView post →Glad that Illumination taking another shot at an original film again considering they desperately need more of those. The premise sounds fine, but I hope it’ll do something unique or amusing with the ET “alien on earth” story, but maybe it’s just cos I still have PTSD from my rewatch of Planet 51.

unlabelledView post →Planet 51 is a 2009 animated science fiction Film. The film stars Justin Long, Dwayne Johnson, Jessica Biel, Gary Oldman, Seann William Scott and John Cleese, the film follows an astronaut who lands on an alien planet, as one of the aliens helps him return to his ship while evading the military.
unlabelledView post →Shoutout to Planet 51, the only movie (that I know of) where Dwayne Johnson plays a character and not just himself. Even in Vaiana it was just the Rock’s voice coming out of Maui.
unlabelledView post →Me seeing the poster for the animated movie Planet 51 which I've never seen: Isn't there a scene where the astronaut protagonist is naked and is questioned about his dong? Also Me: Maybe I should watch this movie.

unlabelledView post →I'm seeing the film later today and I think a majority of us can agree sci-fi films like The Mandalorian and Grogu and even Monsters vs. Aliens bury Planet 51.

unlabelledView post →My favorite niche of kids movies, is alien kids movies. Lilo and Stitch, Planet 51, Escape from Planet Earth, Earth to Echo. Phenomenal. So Elio is like this one Disney movie I've actually wanted to see recently.
unlabelledView post →68. Planet 51 (2009 Movie) This was fine. A serviceable 2000's animated film with popular actors and current pop culture references. Feel somewhat bad a friend spent $4 to rent this.
unlabelledView post →Tonight at 7:30pm CST on the Hyper Dynamo stream, we return to the greenest movie of the 2000’s… that’s right. We’re going to PLANET 51 (the game) to return Captain Charles T. Baker, who will almost certainly not have The Rock returning to voice him, back to his home planet. twitch.tv/hyperdynamotv
unlabelledView post →I just realized there's only green aliens in Planet 51 Sure we only see like one part of Planet 51 in the movie, but when the fuck does any media involving other planets involve realistic planets capable of sustaining advanced life with multiple environments?(1/?)
unlabelledView post →Kevin, Kevin, Kevin--don't forget to add Planet 51 to your Bad Movie Night Letterboxd list. (Also it's lacking the two that Lindsay showed a couple weeks back "Egg" which was the first feature and "The Suckling" which the second)
unlabelledView post →Tonight's Bad Movie was Planet 51 which was just as good as Lost Highway I swear! (Lost Planet???) For the record most of my comments in the chat consisted of saying words and then adding the number 51 to them cause I'm clever like that you see. (nods)

unlabelledView post →This was a funny movie! Without spoiling the movie I loved the way they shifted the point of view and switched it around so that the human was the "visitor from out of space". Great idea! Also, loved the obvious "Alien" inclusion into the film from the Sigourney Weaver movie franchise and to make him a pet like our dogs would be, hysterical!

The controls were alright, but 100% completion was a nightmare that she never completed; every mission, every collectible, every minigame, etc.)

unlabelledView post →I watched a movie called PLANET 51, a sci-fi family comedy produced by a Spanish animation studio that would eventually morph into Skydance Animation. It's The Rock's first animated movie. It is quite the bizarre film, folks. youtu.be/-lG6Gnwe1GY?...
unlabelledView post →Can anyone else who grew up in the late 2000s-early 2010s on Cartoon Network confirm that they showed Planet 51 WAY too often? I swear every weekend they aired that fucking movie, it was like their own Barnyard. Very much a dirty crackhouse movie
unlabelledView post →Hah about that. The very first time I listened to a Killers song was by the movie trailer of Planet 51 of it playing 'Spaceman'
unlabelledView post →Studios have their own style, and it's pretty clear that their style has gone more towards animated and cartoony. Planet 51 wasn't even a DreamWorks movie! Let them have fun and try new things like come on. This is nowhere near what it was like when that first Sonic trailer came out.
unlabelledView post →If the movie ended with the population of Planet 51 beating that white man with hammers I think that would have been justified in this particular instance Also I hate to say it but The General was the most fun character in the roster I kept waiting for him to be on screen again
unlabelledView post →It was more of a wet fart than anything reception wise. It's like saying Home or Planet 51 is a movie everyone hates, shit unlike those two Ruby Gillman DOES have a fanbase (not that i'm a part of it)
