60 of 142 · most liked firstThe first 3 Jack Ryan movies are a trip. • "Red October" is an ensemble masterpiece • "Patriot Games" is extremely solid and Ryan is now played by one of the biggest movie stars of all time, Noyce replaces McTiernan • "Clear/Present Danger" is even better, Noyce at the helm again and the rest
unlabelledView post →Look, The Hunt for Red October is a perfect film. PERFECT. But is Patriot Games somehow better?
unlabelledView post →IMO October is a better movie than Patriot Games but Ford makes for a better Ryan than Baldwin because he’s less smooth and a little more rough (and rumpled) around the edges. A Harrison Ford punch is not the punch of someone who’s done it a lot, even though he’s done it a lot.
unlabelledView post →I will die on the hill, and take as many of my attackers with me as I can, that Harrison Ford was a terrible, terribly cast Jack Ryan and that Patriot Games a is a terrible adaptation of the book and Clear and Present Danger is actually worse. The Hunt is the only good Clancy movie.
unlabelledView post →LOL..remember the scene in the Gladiator movie when Commodus, played by Joaquin Phoenix, announces games he will hold at the coliseum to gain popularity? What are the odds he just watched the movie and came up with the idea to hold the "Patriot Games"? 😂
unlabelledView post →"High school athletes will participate in what Trump called the “Patriot Games,” a televised competition led by Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy, the president previewed." -CNN July 3, 2025 ⬆️⬆️⬆️ This screams "Hitler Youth." perspectives.ushmm.org/item/hitler-...
unlabelledView post →when I was a kid we rented this from blockbuster, and like every movie we rented, we made a copy of it, and I watched it all the time. Between this and Patriot Games, I had a really overblown sense of how much I needed to worry about the IRA.
unlabelledView post →You know what's annoying? Paying for Amazon, Disney, and Netflix and not being able to watch Patriot Games. A movie from 1992 without having to pay and additional cost. They can bite me.
unlabelledView post →Patriot Games is a top, elite film. Quite why I'm watching it at 8.30am I have no idea. But a brilliant favourite of mine. And Harrison Ford is a legend of the screen. Nice guy too apparently.
unlabelledView post →Not that anyone cares, but --since I'm adjacent to the topic -- I really enjoy the movie Patriot Games. I get the feeling of probably most people's 3rd favorite Jack Ryan movie, but I've always gotten a kick out of it.
unlabelledView post →it's funny because there are so many scenes from PATRIOT GAMES that are just burned into my subconscious, but also on a rewatch it's a legitimately bad movie. just not even in the ballpark of either HUNT FOR RED OCTOBER or CLEAR AND PRESENT DANGER
unlabelledView post →Samuel L Jackson seems an easy answer. You get a lot of Marvel and Tarantino, some Star Wars, the best Die Hard movie, a Time to Kill, Jurassic Park, True Romance, Hard Eight, Juice, Patriot Games, Goodfellas, The Other Guys, The Incredibles, Sphere, Coming to America
unlabelledView post →I will die on the hill that in comparison to The Hunt for Red October, Patriot Games was bad, Clear and Present Danger was worse, and Harrison Ford was the most miscast actor in the history of film.
unlabelledView post →Not that I really need to see it, but if I won the @greatesttrek.bsky.social 's #maxfundrive drawing to pick their next movie review, it occurs to me that they could review Patriot Games, and continue reviewing movies focusing on Jack Ryan. I'd call it: The Most Manly Marathon.
unlabelledView post →#GenreRoulette #WorldMusicThursday Clannad - Theme From Harry's Game Heard this during the movie Patriot Games and had to sit thru all the credits to find out what it was youtu.be/4zHTcxVjX0I?...
unlabelledView post →Someone should turn this into a movie. Patriot Games?
unlabelledView post →thinking about Patriot Games (1992), the direct sequel to The Hunt for Red October, and these movies are carried by Harrison Ford. Just his facial expressions show how seriously he takes this compared to everyone else who are like watching a game youtu.be/t8loKEw-wlA
unlabelledView post →One of my favourite movie exposition / obvious studio note moments is in Patriot Games where the hero's daughter loses her spleen (!) in a terrorist attack and a gloating terrorist calls later to explain what a spleen is.
unlabelledView post →I read Jurassic Park when I was 12 in excitement for the movie. A year or so later I tried to read Patriot Games but that one went a bit over my head.
unlabelledView post →Growing up in the 80s, when someone said "terrorist," I immediately thought of some Irish guy and The Troubles. It was less 24 and more Patriot Games...but even that movie had the Irish terrorists training with nondescript Arab baddies.
unlabelledView post →Up next in the Jack Ryan film series is Patriot Games. #filmsky #NowWatching #NW
unlabelledView post →It’s the kind of movie they used to show on like TBS on a Sunday afternoon. It’s made for a dad who is doing other things but occasionally wants to watch a bunch of stuff blow up. I think my dad and I watched Patriot Games 3 times this way.
unlabelledView post →This Jack Ryan movie was my favorite for many years but then I switched over to Patriot Games as my #1. This is now #2 followed by Hunt For Red October #hatm
unlabelledView post →Feel like the move here is take one of those forever working actors cause you get an access to such a wide collection Like, Sam L gets you over 150 movies. Including: Coming to America, Do the Right Thing, Goodfellas, Patriot Games, Jurassic Park, Pulp, Die Hard 3, every Marvel movie, so many more
unlabelledView post →He will get his. If you saw the movie "Patriot Games", there was a schemer like Reichsfuhrer Miller who had the "get out of jail free" letter from the president in the White House safe. Peace MBM
unlabelledView post →Well, the obvious problem is "Patriot Games" had nothing to do with "The Hunger Games". It was a Harrison Ford movie based on the works of Tom Clancy. But, on the other hand, the fact that Trump is illiterate should surprise nobody. 😊
unlabelledView post →similarly "Patriot Games" the movie removes a lot of the weirdness in the novel about Cathy Ryan's pregnancy... (Clancy/pregnancy is well-trodden ground on here)
unlabelledView post →I remember ALMOST nothing about the Harrison Ford movie "Patriot Games" except that when villain Sean Bean pulls a van alongside his family's car to shoot at them with machine guns, a random other car starts ramming Sean Bean's. I don't remember if we ever even get a shot of the intervening...
unlabelledView post →I judge people's taste in film by whether they think Aliens is better than Alien and whether Patriot Games is better than Hunt for Red October. If the answer is yes, I will disregard their opinions about film.
unlabelledView post →Patriot Games is the title of a famous Tom Clancy novel (and Harrison Ford movie) about Irish terrorists attacking the British royal family. Naming your national unity festival after a story about political violence and assassination attempts
unlabelledView post →The dude cannot do anything original. He just waters it down. "Make America Great Again" was a Reagan-era slogan, "Patriot Games" is both the name of an old movie & the plot of a bunch of YA books. The arch has been done before, but better. And that's not even mentioning the 1930s Germany parallels.
unlabelledView post →He’s even calling it “The Patriot Games”! It’s like the White House movie night was “The Hunger Games” and he looked at the villains and said “That’s a great idea! Look how generous these rich people are to the poors!!”
unlabelledView post →Gone with the wind. Bog-standard historical bodice ripper, the movie cleaned up the storyline a lot. Patriot Games.
unlabelledView post →TIL that Sean Bean is English, not Irish, and now PATRIOT GAMES is a very strange movie.
unlabelledView post →Carried on my originally-unplanned-but-now-doing-it-on-purpose Jack Ryan retrospective with CLEAR & PRESENT DANGER. Good fun and better than Patriot Games. 2.5hrs is a little much though (although granted, the last film I watch was 1hr longer than that, but hey, who's counting).
unlabelledView post →Happy Birthday Harrison Ford! 🎉 He’s a living legend of cinema, and spy movie fans can catch him in Hanover Street, Patriot Games, Clear and Present Danger, Frantic and the Indiana Jones films. But what’s your favourite Harrison Ford performance? 🍸
unlabelledView post →I watched a YouTuber react to "Patriot Games" who knew nothing of the movie's context, even though it was only slightly older than she was. That's understandable, I think, for a movie reactor, but not for someone who's had "past bylines [in] Rolling Stone, Politico, TNR, The Nation, Slate, etc."
unlabelledView post →Harrison Ford was the best Jack Ryan. Both this and Clear and Present Danger are great films. #admitonedaily #patriotgames #1990smovies #ticketstub callsheetapp.com/movie/9869
unlabelledView post →It’s the closest thing we’ve ever gotten to a Rainbow Six movie and also like 45 mins too long, my dad loved this one, even more than Red October and Patriot Games. And it does kinda rock, the big finale is just Harrison Ford calling the President of the United States a fucking asshole. Great flick.
unlabelledView post →I guarantee you that's why he's calling it that. "I'm calling it Patriot Games. Just like the movie. Have you ever seen that movie, folks? Ah, that was a great movie. Harrison Ford! Amazing actor, folks. We love the Patriot Games!"
unlabelledView post →Democratic Gov. JB Pritzker reposted the White House’s “Patriot Games” announcement with a still from “The Hunger Games” film, comparing Donald Trump to the fictitious dictator Coriolanus Snow. www.notus.org/trump-white-...
unlabelledView post →One of the most annoying things about the movie “Patriot Games” is the lame cadence the cadets are calling during the academy scenes
unlabelledView post →Like Red October? Better movie technically. But you put Patriot Games on, get like 4 beers in you, great time
unlabelledView post →Which was a plot point in the film and book of Patriot Games.
unlabelledView post →BLOWN AWAY: Truly and sincerely fucking ridiculous and proof that 90s studio sheen gets even the most brain-damaged hokum an automatic thumbs up from me. Rivals PATRIOT GAMES for the great anti-Irish movie of the 90s. This put me in a great mood, man.
unlabelledView post →The Film 4 channel mis-listed Patriot Games when they mean Patriot Day. If you know me, you'll know why I'm vexed.
unlabelledView post →Hot take: Patriot Games is the better Harrison Ford-Jack Ryan movie than Clear and Present Danger. #filmsky
unlabelledView post →My hot take about the Patriot Games is that Clear and Present Danger was a much better movie.
unlabelledView post →Columbus, Houston, and Nashville are among the local markets that will get preseason football tonight on ABC, instead of The Patriot Games (not the movie, the Hunger Games PE Olympics).
unlabelledView post →That so-called Patriot Games/ Hunger Games / title of some movie Trump watched sounds like some stupid BS. How does anyone determine the "top" girl and boy high school athletes in all 50 states? In what sport? Do they letter in multiple ones? State record holders for dunks? TDs? Homers? Strikes?
unlabelledView post →Everyone is making Hunger Games Jokes, and some people are saying no one's original. I'm here to say, you're right, but it's REALLY hard to make a joke tying in to the actual "Patriot Games" movie or novel.
unlabelledView post →I thought it was AI, but multiple sources have reported The Patriot Games. Maybe he saw the Harrison Ford movie (we know he didn't read the Tom Clancy novel) and decided to invade Ireland?
unlabelledView post →“Uh, “Patriot Games” is a Tom Clancy book and a movie.
unlabelledView post →Jimmy Neutron: The Movie, Patriot Games, Chocolat, and Better Luck Tomorrow!
unlabelledView post →Which is Better? Jimmy Neutron: The Movie (2001), Patriot Games (1992), Chocolat (2000), and Better Luck Tomorrow (2002) or The Oogieloves in The Big Balloon Adventure (2012), Nuremberg (2025), Frozen (2013) and The SpongeBob Movie: Search For SquarePants (2025)
unlabelledView post →My late, great father-in-law, Mace Neufeld, was the producer of Patriot Games. Thanks for celebrating his work and I hope your birthday was as epic as the movie!
unlabelledView post →Samuel L Jackson gets you a ton of genre coverage as well. Goodfellas, Pulp Fiction, Jurassic Park, Patriot Games, SW Prequels, Kill Bill (as 1 movie), a large assortment of Marvel movies, Kingsman, The Incredibles, more Tarantino movies, and a bunch of other random things.
unlabelledView post →In 1992, when I finished high school then started college, I also almost always chose movies that disappointed me or otherwise didn't work for me. I chose badly, over and over. Like PATRIOT GAMES, a good film but which depressed me. I mostly bounced off BATMAN RETURNS. I should've seen BOOMERANG.
