positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Good performance on day 1, 200 player server, and a fully destructible map. Fellas, this one is it.

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →After modern game developers have written tweets to gaslight the fanbase on why it's just not possible to have 100v100 battles or persistent servers or deformable terrain, these devs have researched the technology! DICE should hire them as consultants. It's fun to dig trenches and fight against the enemy with your men. Like my grandpa did.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This was a really cool game for a moment. I saw it on the top sellers and picked it up. When the battles were 100v100, it really was something. The map would change every moment, and you'd really be reminded of that looking over the untouched map at the beginning ceasefire. Half of the players would just be yelling at each other, pissing with their ♥♥♥♥♥ out (literally) while the other half erected a fortress in minutes. The devs were really responsive and clear with their intentions too.…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A HoldFast community with Battlefield gameplay.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The best WW1 game I've played since Battlefield 1. By the way, I don't like that the next nation is the US (for marketing reasons), when they did hardly anything in WW1, while Russia, the Ottoman Empire, and Austria aren't included. The developers should reconsider this and add two of these three countries in the same patch, as we will have three countries from the Triple Entente and only one from the Central Powers.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Finally a WW1 game where every player actually matters. You can dig trenches, build defenses, fortify strategic attack positions, be part of a tank crew and even pilot planes. The environment is completely destructible, and everything stays on the battlefield for the entire match: destroyed tanks, crashed planes, explosions holes and dug trenches. It makes the battles feel intense and much more realistic. There are a few small bugs, but nothing too serious. I’m sure the developers will polish…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Its Battlefield, Hell Let Loose and Holdfast all in one beautiful game.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Can't believe we had to wait this long for a game based on the critically acclaimed book/movie Holes. I don't know why people are shooting at me, but I'm going to find that Yelnats family treasure any day now.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Just reminds me of the good old days of Xbox 360 Arcade almost as if Toy Soliders on the 360 came to live - Just straight up simple fun. Take the game for what it is and it's superb.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Before you buy. THE NEED TO KNOW 1. The game will randomly teleport you back a few steps. 2. you can't change any controls as of this moment including (any sensitivity, flight controls, or button layout) 3. while it is a Third-person shooter you can go in first-person to help with aiming. 4. while there is First-person, the only weapons that aim down sights are snipers, mgs, vehicles, and artillery. (everything else is a relative aim down sights, simulator to fort night) 5. Tanks (in my…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Dead game. There is like 20 player online accross the servers. Not really ideal for game that is supposed to have 100 vs 100 matches
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Over The Top is absolute chaos in the best way possible. You can play with up to 200 other players on a map but I've found the 150 capped servers work best for steam deck. You can crush people with tanks, fly planes into tanks after dropping bombs on them, run around trenches with a flame thrower, stab people with bayonets, and even piss emote. This game is more fun than arc raiders is :P
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →As a child, I yearned for the trenches. So one day, I started digging.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →After reaching ten hours in-game, this is perhaps one of the most innovative, fun, and jankiest shooters I've played; and I'm all for it. - The game is janky, don't expect it to be like Battlefield 1. It seems to reuse a lot of the animations from 'Mount & Blade: Napoleonic Wars' which to me isn't a problem, if it ain't broke don't fix it. Being honest, the jank is like 50% of the charm of this game and despite of that I still felt completely immersed. - Every match is a military sandbox and…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →First off it's a dead game. Even during peak hours on a Saturday the game struggles to get over 200 active players and with multiplayer servers that can hold 200 max players there's almost never any full servers. And so the empty spots on a server are filled in with bots and the bots can range from being useless and stupid as hell to having amazing sniper level accuracy and be super annoying. There are maps that are fun to play and balanced and others that are the opposite and unbalanced for…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →interesting concept, but not enough players. Player count dropped drastically, and its only been out for four months.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →great game but cant play no more as I got permanent banned from every EU server with no warning from killing friendlies with barbwire lol. Long live LORD ROTHCHILD AND Pvt.Willy !!!
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →First match of the game and this is how it went - Spawned in, and we had to prepare for an attack by digging as many holes and a trench as we possibly could while a guy was playing the bag pipes and someone in the background was being told off by his girlfriend for shouting. - Got a few kills under my belt. It felt good. - Our soldiers got slaughtered with only me and 4 others remaining. We thought this was it. We had captured this point only for a well-placed grenade to come flying over…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Depending on your playstyle, this game quickly can become a trench digging simulator. It's a simple art... digging a trench while bombs are falling and bodies are dropping all around you. This game definitely needs a little TLC, but if the devs stick to it, this game could very well become a fantastic shooter to fill that "Great War" itch. That being said, the UI is absolutely atrocious and the game feels very clunky. But if you can get past that, then it is very much worth the price tag.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Game slaps. 200 players, global VOIP, little to no lag or frame drops, whole lot of madness. Are we back?
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →(Former playtester) As simple as it sounds a somewhat arcade shooter where players dig their own trenches which stay between matches opens the door to a ton of replayability, and depth as what's best to do in defense and attack varies so much from scenario to scenario based on what each team is doing.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Open mic screaming, trumpets and mid battle pianos while tunneling into the earth to dodge artillery 10/10 would establish a front for this game
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Game is awesome. Old guy here, been playing war games since medal of honor. This game is crack. Super fun, a little wonky, but I like that and I assume they will make improvements. Best 15$ I've spent on a game in 5 years. Its the consistent trench and engineering for me that makes this absolutely my favorite. Lost a part of the map you built a ton of infra on? No worries, you'll probably play on that map again and get to revisit what you already built. Great game guys! You did good!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →200 idiots digging randomly with shovels screaming obscenities at each other only to get lit up by machine guns, mustard gas, tanks, and planes. Did it serve any useful purpose? Probably not. Is it fun? You betcha. Remember kids: if Tolkien wasn't scared schittless by this war, we'd have never gotten The Lord Of The Rings!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Pros: great gameplay. Feels good. Being able to voip to the enemy puts this game a 10/10 easily. Can drive tanks and man the guns. Fly planes and drop bombs. Dig ditches and build stuff. Really great love all that. Cons: doesn't feel like what WW1 would have felt like. Its a spawn rush to die game like all shooters. If there was more penalties from dying I think there would be more reason to take your life more serious but then again that doesn't appeal to most people. Worth buying.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →There is fun to be had here, but its quite janky fun. Guns and actions feel floaty. The ui in this game is pretty bad. No party system to link up with friends before hopping on a server. It in general feels like it needed 3 more rounds of polish. That being said, its still decently fun. The trench digging and structure building is a fun aspect. I always appreciate in a large scale fps destructable buildings (not that half destroy a building crap like battlefield did). I hope this game finds an…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Okay, I'll be honest here. Based on the look of the game i was thinking this was going to be a "return before 2 hours" game for me. But almost immediately upon entering my first match, I realised that this was gonna be a keeper. It does something alot of games dont do these days. And thats being FUN! The Chaos of flying bodies everywhere, explosions and vaporised soldiers surrounding you in the thick of battle just make a match of this a blast. If you like historical tac shooters but want…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Absolute cinema lmao. 200 player battles and I had zero performance issues. No lag and good frame rates maxing everything in 4k. The gunplay isn't the best by any means but it is certainly not terrible. You can play in 1st person or 3rd person. It seems like it was designed with 3rd person in mind as you sometimes hit invisible walls in first person. The community is amazing. There is a ton of teamwork but it never takes itself seriously. I am a Hell Let Loose player and while I enjoy the…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Easily the most fun I've had in a war game in a long time! Definitely one of the best and most entertaining WW1 games on here for sure... and with customizable battlefields in which you can dig your own trenches and build fighting positions, every battle is sure to differ in some way and make each game different and more fluid than many other multiplayer war games. Combines all the best things of Verdun, Holdfast, and War of Rights.. complete with an awesome and hilarious community, complete…

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Cheap, compact, and fun. 8 GB of pure chaos. The environmental destruction is pretty great.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →(EDIT) DO NOT BUY. DEAD GAME. DO NOT BUY. DEAD GAME. This game is dead. It has over a 97% drop from launch in player numbers and I have not seen a full server in over a week in North America. DO NOT BUY. DEAD GAME DO NOT BUY. DEAD GAME ---- Original Review ---- Almost a great game. Really requires admins/moderators. But I love me some 100v100. I love digging trenches. Just wish I could dig tunnels. Give me tunnels. Give me underground digging. ROCK AND STONE! (Edit review: Lost…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The game is dead. When I played it during the free weekend, there were tons of players online. It was really fun, and that experience convinced me to buy the game. But after the free weekend ended, the player count dropped to basically zero. In the evening, there are only around 50–70 people playing. It’s not fun playing against bots all the time, especially in a paid game. You should make the game free-to-play and add monetization instead. I’m pretty sure the player base would be dozens of…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Over The Top: WWI has everything I love about gaming. Massive scale battles with unlimited strategies and playstyles. The sandbox nature allows the player and community to create their own fun, with VOIP this leads to immersive roleplay and hilarious banter. The trench building and destructible environment is a really unique feature where the map changes as the battle goes on. You will not find any of the rubbish that plagues modern AAA titles here, instead you will find a refreshing game made…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A funny WW1 game, Britain/France vs Germany. It's reminds me of Mount & Blade Napoleonic Wars, mixed with Enlisted. AI Bots make it a little boring, but 200 man battles with players are insanely fun. Would be great if they implemented Russia and the Ottoman Empire.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Most charming shooter I've played. Trench building is incredibly fun. The only limitation is how short the matches are, a lot of that digging feels like it goes to waste when a match ends
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →10/10 I went into this game expecting absolute slop — it is anything but. Persistent trenches between matches, choking gas attacks, artillery that will send you flying, soldiers screaming for medics or trying to intimidate the enemy… this is warfare at its finest. I’ve dug trench lines that stretch for miles. I’ve cut men down by the dozens with MG fire and bayonet charges. I’ve burned enemies to a crisp. I even made a French player scream in fear. War crimes? Committed more times than I can…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Been addicted to Over the Top the last few days. Really fun and chaotic multiplayer. I've been wanting a game with this kind of terrain deformation and janky but satisfying gear for ages and this is really doing it for me.
unlabelledView post →I'm replaying MGR, and it is indeed, peak af This game was ahead of its time. It is the definition of Over-the-Top
unlabelledView post →Proximity chat is awesome. People role-playing as Germans, talking mad sht, blasting music through a shtty mic, thanking you for reviving them and then immediately getting shot again. This is peak gaming
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →You spawn in, your officer blows the whistle, and suddenly 30 of your comrades get shredded by machine gun fire and artillery. Absolute chaos. Hilarious game though
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →As a huge fan of Battle Cry of Freedom it's good to be back. For fans of chaotic 3rd person multiplayer games like Holdfast or Mount and Blade you'll find large, frantic multiplayer action on detailed, destructable maps with deformable terrain. It could use some more content in maps and weapons but the maps that are here can play quite differently than one another, with useable vehicles, fortifications and fortress guns, instruments, cameras, and probably lots more.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →An incredible game, and very promising. I see that the devs are making hotfixes everyday. Nonetheless, the public servs really need a kickvote system... Some players are just taking the engie class to block or destroy the spawns of your own team and there's no countermeasures against them as I'm writing this.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I knew this game would fail because the saturation of artillery was too much. Every game would go like this: spawn, explode, spawn, explode, spawn, explode, spawn, explode, and so on. I get it, "there was artillery in WW1!" obviously. But the artillery in this game is far too frequent and too close together, if you get caught in an artillery barrage, which is all the time, you 100% will not live even if you're hidden in the bowels of a trench network. After getting blown up for the 10000th time…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I absolutely love this game, dig dig dig. Drinking some beers? dig dig dig. Hard day at work? dig dig dig. Taxes due? dig dig dig. I love digging and this game lets me dig as much as I want to dig. Shout out my dirty boys in the NA3 and NA42 server
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game is so much fun. I've always wanted a good WW1 game, and this scratches so many itches. Like building stuff? Check. Like breaking stuff? Do you enjoy clawing at the dirt in hopes of making a hole big enough to protect you from almost certain death? Check. Feel like dying over and over in endless attempts to capture a small piece of territory? Check. Chaotic and hilarious voice chat? Check. Teamwork makes the dream work in this game. Get in here and join us in dying for a cause we…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →WW1 was a baller time of joy and bag pipes and pianos and shell dodging and glorious beautiful comradery. I love to build trenches. I love my WW1 bros. CENTRAL POWERS ALL DAY LONG. 10 out of 10 what an epic ww1 sim.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →unfortunately, game is dead. never any full servers anymore and whats left are never NA, meaning too much lag to be worth playing. was fun whilst the NA servers were still alive but thats no longer the case
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →By Jolly Jove i love this game. I can roleplay as a captain and command the lowly trench diggers to pick up the pace while I tell them tales of old and listen to old billy playing the bagpipes he brought with him. God save the Queen I do say. On occasion, the Gerry's do come over the top into our trenches, blaring 'Cascada - every time we touch' on what seems to be an old JBL Bluetooth speaker, as they burn us to ashes with their FlammenTroossen. I was once in the midst of a great…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →>Open game after I haven't played for a few months >Select server >Spawn into match >Go to frontline trench >Get obliterated by artillery after less than one second >Spawn again >Get shot by a guy I never even saw >Spawn again >Commanding officer is yelling at us fortifying our position instead of advancing >Get hit with gas >Die again Ahhh, realism.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The devs really weaved some magic here. The most succinct way to describe this game is; Chivalry if it was a WW1 game. It's got the perfect blend of serious gameplay and pure absurdity. You can feel immersed and under intense pressure from all the fire one moment, then burst out laughing the next. I knew it was a top notch game when I lobbed a grenade that just missed an enemy, but the explosion caused a tree to fall and crush the guy instead. And I got the credit for the kill too. Also…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's got it's issues but it's still insanely fun somehow. Devs respond quickly to issues, and it's reasonably priced. What more do you want?
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Way more fun than it has any right to be for $16. It's like a hyper-chaotic mix of Battlefield and Red Orchestra. My only gripe is the Stormtrooper and Specialist classes are way too overpowered with the LMG, SMG, and Auto-Rifle options. Automatic weapons that can be hipfired and carried around without movement penalty. They are just so ridiculous and oppresive to play against in a game with mounted machineguns and bolt-action rifles. You're basically a one-man army that can decimate an…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Usually these large-scale spawn-die-repeat type games don't really do it for me but there is something different about this one. I can't put my finger on it exactly but I do enjoy it. I will update my review if I figure out what exactly it is that turns me on about this game.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Its a fun game. Nothing to complicated. Just enjoyable.
