The game is really well made, sure you have to like that typ(ING)e of game, but if you do, you will love it. Also if you never tried typing games before (What ? You never played Epistory or Nanotale ??? Unforgivable!!), go for it too. Honestly the gameplay and the level design are very well made, there are what is called "modifiers" that enable you to modify the difficulty of the game in one way or…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →avoid this game at all cost, especially if you love typing game the letter D, O, Q are too similar words from multiple enemies are drawn overlapping!!! unfun way to build up combo -- why force player to kill enemies of the same color consecutively? why too many colors? f_cking race condition: i am typing a word "MOM", now another bomb letter "M" appear, continuing typing makes my character shoot the new letter, leaving the word MOM unfinished too many enemy on screen at once, too many…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The best way I can describe this game, is it's like Beat Saber, but for your fingers! Outshine is fast paced, very flashy, and can quickly become very addicting (in a good way). There is a community leaderboard, but it also does a fantastic job of helping you compete against yourself, so you can see & feel those improvements. With over a dozen modifiers, you can increase the difficulty of a run to increase your potential score, decrease difficulty (yep, with a decrease hit to your score), or…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Was the story written by chatGPT? I love their typing games but this one is so bad overall, visually clunky with a boring story, bad art etc. Feels like a student project rather than a game from an established studio with prior releases.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I love typing games since they help me keep my skills sharp. This one feels almost too much in some ways. ex. I regularly type 90–100 wpm. I can't play this game on the highest difficulty because the sheer amount of visual clutter just ruins the experience. I wouldn't use this game to teach typing to someone because of how much non-typing you'll be doing to survive, but as someone looking for a challenge who is already a skilled typist? I think it's good enough to merit a thumbs up.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It is quite a fun little typing action game. With the ability to adjust the difficulty to your liking, it's really accessible. But it has its issues, sometimes there is just too much going on, and then many times the game locks on to a word it thinks you are trying to spell, but locks on to the wrong one, sometimes not even seeing the word on the screen and just hear the wrong key sounds all of the sudden then have to check where it locked on to (if you can see it) to spell that out…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The Good: +++ The engaging fast-paced action typing gameplay is a lot of fun. I don't know of any game that does it better, or even at all. (If you happen to know of any, please do tell.). The game forces you to navigate to avoid terrain hazards and obstacles while fighting (typing) off an onslaught of various enemy types with interesting mechanics. + Cool techno dystopian aesthetic. + Very adjustable difficulty level from hunt-and-peck typist to pro touch typist. Most of the fun comes from…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Really fun game, but honestly it's so frustrating. Eventually enemies start sending out attacks that require pressing letters to destroy which really isnt that bad until you're stuck partway into another enemy's word. You press everything you need to press but nothing happens. Honestly I would summarize this entire game with You press everything you need to press but nothing happens.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Another great typing game from Fishing Cactus! This one's a straight-up arcade game, as opposed to its contemplative story-based predecessors, Epistory and Nanotale. It definitely hits its mark for fast-paced typing action! As with Epistory and Nanotale, it pays to get used to the various enemies' attack types and what kinds of threats they pose, so you know which ones to prioritize. Especially in the later levels, you'll want to choose your immediate targets carefully to make sure you…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Excellent arcade game. It's even localized in italian. Need to show my keyboard typing skills! Really chill and fun. FAAAAAAAAST!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Got the chance to playtest this game multiple times and its great to see how far it has come. If you want to challenge yourself and see how good you are at typing and moving at the same time then please do give this game a shot! It's quite unique as a game as it combines arcade style gaming with typing ad heavily relies on the gameplay. It has multiple difficulty levels and above that there are modifiers to make it even more of a challenge or to make it easier on yourself. Story is there but is…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I like it. But it needs a lot optimalisation work because performance is a joke.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →If you enjoy typing games and want one that will keep challenging you, Outshine is exactly what you're looking for. I found this game from a great review on the website SideQuest and I like what the author, Michelle Caldiera, had to say about the game. If you're on the fence, I'd suggest looking up her review. She talks about how the speed forces the player to play instinctively, it gives you no time to think or doubt yourself.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I liked the enemy design. The levels introduced new stuff instead of repeating itself. Great game if you like to type fast and make things explode. The ending was anti-climatic, but I'd buy Outshine 2 if it existed. Christmas?
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Monopoly is the worst board game, or Coconut Outshine Popsicles is the best flavor. Maybe frozen pizza is the best snack food, but I’m a little shaky on that argument.

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Best typing game I've played so far by fishing cactus. As compared to the other games that's a bit more chill and story oriented, this is very focused and you can tweak the difficulties to your liking - going into flow state typing, raising difficulties and all. Wished for a few more levels haha.

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I can't play this game. This is the same gripe I had with Nanotale and Epistory. I've no doubt the game is fantastic. I finished Epistory and I've played a bit of Nanotale. But, as someone who learned to type with words and sentences, I have to train myself to not hit space bar at the end of each word. I have to not hit backspace if I'm aware I've made a mistake. Also, as words come towards you, if you hit the wrong letter, it will start typing a different word, which is not always a word…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's the only Typing Game I've currently got in my library. It's outstanding well. The WPM I create more then doubled since I started, that didn't even take an hour. For barely 4€ it was a great deal. And I can recommend outshine for a game of that genre, so that you have one. Among hundreds of games. 1 Typing game. That's something like Outshine. After barely an hour and ones through the easiest difficulty I want to recommend it to myself for even more game time. Get that as an addition to my…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Outshine is a unique and stylish typing-based action game that demands quick reflexes, though its content is not very long.

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Outshine is the third typing game I've purchased by Fishing Cactus. I absolutely fell in love with Epistory and Nanotale but could not get into Outshine as easily as I did the others. The game play is much faster paced and focuses more on the play and less on the story and I think this is where it fell short for me. After the amazing storylines of both Epistory and Nanotale I was a bit disappointed in the lack there of in Outshine. It's a good game and worth the try if you like the pacing and…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A typing game that also builds your micromanagement skills. This review also encompasses acquiring all the achievements. To preface, I average around 100 wpm under "normal" circumstances. Pros: - good typing practice. In some scenarios, you build your vocabulary lmao - lots of gimmicks that provides an extra challenge. These modifications can be toggled on or off and include: faster/more words, backword words, no hit runs, no mistakes, etc. And let me tell you, they are challenging alright.…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I've played the other Fishing Cactus typing games without much issue and being an 80 WPM typer I was feeling pretty good about this one too. Firstly I realized there are multiple difficulties, and 80 WPM is recommended only for the second highest difficulty. Highest is 100 WPM. Holy crap. I chose the 80 WPM one and at first was doing pretty good. By the time I got to the end of the second zone though, I was struggling regularly. The last mission before the second boss is insanely hard and it…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I've played a ton of typing games, the only good ones are Outshine, Epistory, and Nanotale. This game is great, ridiculously fun. Strong recommend.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Challenging game, providing one likes typing. Played on easy through the game and intend to raise the difficultly for next time I play it. Like the options for game play such as reversing the words on screen and increasing the difficultly really is challenging.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Outshine is a fun typing game. Graphics, mechanics and delivery are alright. It is also met by nice people - I met them presenting their game at Gamescom 2022. If you like typing games and like to see some nice twists added to them, I recommend picking this one up.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Outshine takes the familiar act of typing and reshapes it into a fast-moving action experience where accuracy, speed, and quick judgment determine whether you survive. Developed by Fishing Cactus and published by Fishing Cactus and PID Games, it is a single-player typing action game built around the idea that every correctly entered word becomes an attack. Instead of treating typing as a secondary minigame, the entire combat system revolves around the keyboard, giving the game a distinctive…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The premise of the game looks really cool, the vibe is nice, and the story is enjoyable too. Even though this game is good, it's not really for me. I'm not that good at English blind writing, so I can't fully enjoy this game, but I do see the appeal - especially the competitive side of it. To sum it up, the game is a well-deserved 7/10 for me. It would be higher if I were better at those kinds of games because it is actually really cool.

A variety of modifiers and difficulty options allow you to adjust the game so it matches your typing speed and abilities, it has a fantastic art style, an energetic and motivating soundtrack that I could listen to for hours and accessibility options including a dyslexia-friendly font. If you're shopping for a typing game, this one's well worth the price and I can highly recommend both it and its soundtrack!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →If you like typing games I guess it is quite OK.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Playing #Outshine, which is a typing game. There's an achievement for getting 100 words per minute (WPM). Guess what I got?
unlabelledView post →Way better than it first seems, A lot of speedrunning potential, and very polished
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This has helped me type alot faster !
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This was really a miss for me. I actually love Fishing Cactus typing games until this release. This isn't one of those adventure games. It only reveals the storyline after you pass the level in text format. Think I will wait for their next release instead. A next adventure typing game as good as Epic tales or Nano tales !
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Outshine is flashy, arcade action set to the tune of frantic typing that perfectly scratches that occasional need to jab at your keyboard with great speed and accuracy. It's engaging on lower difficulties but far too overstimulating at higher ones. As Outshine gets harder, it becomes more about target prioritization and visually processing the debris that’s on the screen. It can be downright difficult to see all the individual letters homing in on you when you’ve got so many other…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I LOVE typing games. This one is difficult, in a good way. You not only have to type words, but you have to pick which one to type, because you need to get rid of enemies directly in front of you first. You're not only typing, but using the shift keys to move left and right. It'll take me awhile to get into the swing of this, but it's definitely bringing new elements into the typing game genre. Totally recommend this for typing fanatics. Personally I can type an average of 90 words per…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →if you like typing games I highly recommend this one. If you haven't really liked any typing games I still recommend it. It has a great story and a great soundtrack and it's more than just a typing test with some graphics. It takes strategy and skill. I really enjoyed my time with it, though I wished for a little more at the end.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's an interesting mix between typing and arcade style game. At first it was really confusing for my brain, but I got used to it quickly after a little bit of practice. The hardest difficulty is actually quite hard both in typing and action aspects, so don't be like me and start with something easier to get used to the game :) Overall, feels pretty balanced and satisfying.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Fantastic tying game. Challenging and arcadey, as well as imrpoves your wpm. 10/10
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Very cool game if you like typing. I do. The bosses are pretty cool too with a really good short story.

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's pretty fun and well-made, for a typing game. There's plenty of options to step-up or step-down the difficulty. It has a neat style to it and the music is good. The story seems like an accessory to the gameplay, but it turned out to be a cool story. Cool enough that it made me want to finish this and talk to someone else about it. My only complaint that I can think of is that I didn't like how words would mush together when two enemies were stacked up. It makes it difficult to see one word…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Somewhat zen typing game. Good fun to just practice your typing a little. Does not teach you to type; just place to practice and go with the flow.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Quick little typing game. If you're a fast typer, I recommend this to try
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's a decent typing game from the devs of a couple of other typing games that I also enjoyed. Gets really hectic at higher difficulties and has a tendency to snowball out of control if you can't keep up with the options you chose, but if you don't try to push yourself too hard it's pretty chill. If you get motion sick easily, I strongly recommend turning off the screen shake; the final boss made me feel woozy almost instantly the first time I got there.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It is quite fun, still early as i haven't gotten past the first region (prison) yet (only play a bit at a time, need to rest my eyes after each stage). Though there is a lot of visual clutter, your character can also block some things in front of you so you don't know it's coming towards you before you get hit, having the camera be a bit higher up would help and the "road" not blocking off line of sight at times, it just moves so squigly it makes things hard to know spatially where one thing…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →i liked the typing based gameplay ;-P
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →okay game, it has own flaws like not a best font for a typewritting game, enemies blocking each other, different words changing each other in typing, slop visiuals. but different mechanics and boss fights are fun only for super sale or 3rd party key
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Want to see how much brain rot you've gotten over the last decade or 3? Try the typing chaos that comes with this game!
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Fishing Cactus, THANK YOU SO MUCH! This game proved to me that i'm a bad typist, and slowly I became a good one through this game. It had an amazing story, I just hope that someone breaks the endless cycle one day. I used to type at 30-40 WPM, now i type at 95 WPM! I used to have only 75% accuarcy, now i have 91%. I did get stuck on the levels Security, The Slums, and Treetops for a while, but in the end I got it right. There are only two bad things about the game - You can't rapidly switch…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →typing with tension... music that makes you a bit tense. A fun game for the keyboard, but not really a typing practice since it is all single words and the sight reading to transfer into text is not really tested.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Its ok. Not for me though.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's an alright game, but it has issues that I feel can be fixed with an update or two. If you're playing this then you know what typing games are typically like, and this is another good one. The problems are with the text size, the overlapping text, the multiple words with the same starting letters, and attacks that are hidden from you because there are too many effects or enemies on screen. Sometimes enemies just die for no reason in the middle of a word and you accidentally start typing…
