I have a ton of nostalgia for this one, and while the remaster itself isn't lavish, the game still holds up tremendously. Also, it has Gogandantess in it so you KNOW it's a winner! www.thejimquisition.com/post/onimush...

unlabelledView post →Onimusha 2's final boss is still peak unhinged Capcom. None of it is prerendered compared to the entire rest of the game and the remastered visuals makes it look crazy for a 2002 video game. Goes so hard.
unlabelledView post →Given out at Summer Game Fest 2025 and via mail-in, and now added to the VGHF Library, this half-sized, 8 page promo for Capcom's Onimusha 2 remaster is designed to look like a classic '90s magazine.
unlabelledView post →One of the greatest games of all time, but this port is extremely crusty. Wonky aspect ratio problems, outright broken pause button, and unnecessary censorship make this so crusty for no reason. You can find better and cheaper ways to play this classic. Capcom should be ashamed of this port.

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Last week—got to play Onimusha 2: Samurai's Destiny Remaster. Game opening is pretty bombastic/memorable. Onimusha games I have played were Dawn of Dreams many years ago with Soki being my main in Tatsunoko/Capcom, and recently played/beat Onimusha Tactics. Was happy to see Tactics in remaster!
unlabelledView post →Onimusha 2 has a better combat system than the first game and it actually has a good story and characters for a game of its kind. Once you learn the Issen timing for each enemy, it becomes so much more enjoyable since you can one shot most things. It is difficult but needs practice. It is a nice mechanic in every Onimusha game. It has more characters as well and has some replay value because of the different friendship routes. Because of that it can take some time if you want to 100% the game.…

Now I slep to stream later today 😴
unlabelledView post →Onimusha 2 is kind of a clunkier retread of the original. There's an odd companion system based around gift giving that gets abandoned a third into the story. Enemies spawn endlessly, making exploring a bit of a chore. It takes far more souls to do a simple upgrade, making leveling up a arduous grind. The story is just a weirder and worse version of the first game's. The pacing is really lopsided, often throwing you into several boss encounters back-to-back. Worst of all, boss arenas often have…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →If that Onimusha 2 port goes on sale you should get it. That game rocks and the remasters added analog controls so you don't have any excuse
unlabelledView post →Today's #RandomGameSaturday brings you what is arguably my favorite Onimusha. Onimusha 2: Samurai's Destiny is a swashbuckling samurai adventure, showing us life in this fantastical world. Great action, fun characters and one of the most in-depth friendship systems ever put into an action game.
unlabelledView post →Overall feels like a good port that runs well on my machine. But it lacks something critical and fundamental to the original. The pressure sensitive shoulder buttons of the ps2 controller allowed you to ready your weapon or charge it with the same button. It felt intuitive, precise and fun. You are missing a unique interactive feature that feels like gripping your sword tighter if you cant play that version. The pressure sensitive buttons of the dualshock 2 controllers were completely non…

unlabelledView post →Onimusha 2: Samurai’s Destiny Remastered ✅ Really fun game; improves on basically everything from the first entry; which was an awesome on its own! The setting is obv great, the story is utterly nonsensical in a great way, the weapons are cool and the combat is fun and forces you to think! 9/10

unlabelledView post →Just very happy to see all the resurgence of Onimusha love from Capcom after many years. The new game looks awesome & the updates to the remaster of Onimusha 2 are real interesting. Very curious to see if they're able to get Onimusha 3 eventually, but re-releasing Dawn of Dreams seems inevitable.
unlabelledView post →As a big fan of Onimusha and Dawn of Dreams, I had somehow missed this and 3 when I was younger. Picking this up after re-running the original game, I was quite excited about it. Ultimately, though, I think this game is a mess. The port seems fine, aside from having to mod in Playstation button prompts on the PC version. But the actual game almost feels unfinished in some ways, and implements a strange gift-giving mechanic for allies whom you will see at seemingly random intervals. It also…

unlabelledView post →I DEMAND remasters of Onimusha 3 and Dawn of Dreams! Now to this game: I really liked the first game, and I couldn't understand why the second one had a much lower rating. Now I understand lol. I can't recommend this game unless you're an Onimusha/Capcom or Japan-Fanatasy-Setting fan and want to play through the entire series. While the core gameplay is still good and the combat is fun, the developers experimented with the other systems and, in my opinion, didn't do a very good job. Namely,…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Censorship aside, Onimusha 2 is basically everything I want in a videogame. The game tells a simple and engaging story. Cutscenes are not frequent and they are quick, so you spend most of your time actually playing the game. The game encourages you to use every weapon you find because they all have their own magic bar. This allows you to main a weapon you prefer while strategically using others magic attacks to deliver a lot of damage to bosses or oneshot stronger enemies. The characters in…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →First the elephant in the room; Why does it costs 30 bucks? I mean I paid 20 for all the 3 ps2 era devil may crys (And even then I thought it was too much). Then they are baffled that sales numbers are poor. Talking about the game: -Typical devil hunting story with charismatic characters. -There are more or less the same characters as always (a fat big comical monk, a serious musketeer, a young lady with an armour that doesn't cover enough, a young ninja that can't shave yet but boy let's go…

unlabelledView post →Resident Evil, but make it samurai. Onimusha is a series that I’ve been meaning to play for years. Originally released in 2001, it still very much holds up. A solid action game with snappy combat, and some very cool weapon upgrades. Now I just need to track down Onimusha 2. ⚔️✨
unlabelledView post →Replayed Onimusha 1,2, and 3 to get ready for Way of the Sword. Onimusha 2 is my least favorite of the three, but it's not a horrible game. Personally, I wasn't a fan of the gift system, but I can see how some people might enjoy it. If you're a fan of Onimusha, you'll like this one.

This game is SIGNIFICANTLY better than I expected, Im having such a good time with it. 🥹 I didn't think I'd like Jubei like I did Samanosuke, but the dude is unintentionally hilarious. 😂 #Onimusha2
unlabelledView post →This game kinda blew my mind, I wish I hadn't waited before buying it. In fact, I think this remaster is so good that it probably hurt its sales. Maybe if it had something to complain about, it could've generated more traffic. People always say they want remasters of games that actually need it and not just popular ones, they want the visuals to not be worse and any changes to remain faithful to the original experience. If even a fraction of those people bought this game then maybe we'd…

unlabelledView post →Worse than Onimusha 1 in pretty much every way. The backgrounds look like blurry ♥♥♥♥ in motion. Samanosuke > Jubei. Now hurry up and give us Jean Reno
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Anyway Onimusha 2 for ps2 is a fantastic video game with some really terrible and frustrating boss fights. I’m playing the switch remaster (which is actually a remake inside RE engine) and having a blast with it. Won’t ever top the first game for me, with that being more resi evil, but still good
unlabelledView post →To be fair I haven't actually played Onimusha 2, so I could be talking shit, but the first game had so many unlockables it was insane. I played through it like 20 times & there was always something new to see. I want a GOOD game with GOOD gameplay. It might not be my place to judge, but it feels off
unlabelledView post →Alright we all know September is going to be insane with game releases* so here’s how I’m prioritizing things in a post-state-of-play-world** 1. Onimusha 2. Control Resonant 3. Blood of Dawnwalker 4. Wolverine * Phantom Blade got moved to October ** Subject to change after Xbox Showcase/SGF
unlabelledView post →Most lethal enemy in the game: the fixed camera angle. PS1 Resident Evil with swords and magic. But seriously, I loved this game as a kid after seeing a video review of it on one of those old PS2 magazine demo discs, so I was excited to try this remaster. I never really got into the other games (aside from a brief but oddly intensive spell with Blade Warriors), but this one always stuck with me. Not much structure to this review - just throwing out observations like pieces of bread. Looks…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's classic Resident Evil but with Samurai's & I love it! I owned Onimusha 1 on the PS2, beat it 3x. However I have never got around to the rest of the series, now having access to this series again I am having a blast. It feels good playing games that Awaken your inner child's past gaming memories, this title was created in gaming's PEAK ERA & it shows. The Censorship Fiasco that surrounds this game is not a big deal, It doesn't effect your Experience or Gameplay. To be honest I would say it…
