60 of 75 · most liked firstPeople seem to be complaining about the graphics but the designers made a choice to make it cartoony and the look is consistent so I'll say the graphics are pretty good for the style they went for and give it a pass on that front. Now here is what I don't like about the game and why I will give it a not recommend rating: 1) The game world looks dead If the numbers weren't moving you'd swear the game had crashed because there is just about zero animation. 2) Music is the techno equivalent of…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Fun game but not enough depth. It's better than the average online game about oil mining you'll find and a little deeper than the mining in Capitalism 2 but overall just not enough on the management side. You're simply yielding a resource and selling it for the market average, hoping to get a good deal.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I would recommend this game if it worked. It does not. As soon as I open a second oil field, the whole game crashes. Every time. The upshot of this is that only a handful of scenarios are playable, including the tutorial.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game is seriously overpriced: I played for not even 2 hours and filled half of a map already. It is sooooo repetitive: You build the same 5 buildings all the time to make more cash. Then you build more of those buildings to make even more cash and to be able to build more of those 5 buildings. Not really entertaining. (you can build more than 5 buildings but they are all the same. Only difference is the capacity) The music is very anoying too (ok, it can be muted but still) For 2€ I…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Introduction It’s time to drill for some black gold, baby! Economic simulations are aplenty on the Steam Store. But titles which might focus solely on oil extraction? Only a handful to be found and none of them were rendered in 3D. Until Oil Enterprise, that is. Launched in 2016 by Crafty Studios (better known for their “Realms of Arkania” remastered series) and published by industry veterans, Astragon Entertainment. Speaking of an entirely different industry than game development, I do have to…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Great game. It sends you right into this feeling of "Dinner can wait .. I just want to build this oil pump and then I close the session". Given this and the fact that only two people are tackling the task of creating this game, it gets two thumbs up from me!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Whoever was unfortunate enough to waste just a single penny on this game, hasn't read any of the reviews. This is one of those 'let's call it a game, and rip off people as well as possible' developments. I can not put into words how bad this game is...leave alone all the glitches. No seriously - this is a WARNING - I have spent money to come to this conclusion, so that you won't have to. Don't waste your money on this.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Not fun. Bubble heads insulting and cartoonish to the point of this appearing to be a kids game. No tips help or logical instructions as to how the game works. I have tried to like this game but it simply is in too unfinished a state to be playable. WHEN YOU STICK A PUMPJACK PUMPING STATION AND TANK IN THE GROUND YOU PRODUCE OIL. Not in this game. Where's Waldo what do I do next. Terrible tutorial, just all around not fun. Same folks who made mining simulator.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The game is very random and unforgiving. A lot of times you lose for no better a reason than the game is random. Contract cancelled random thing broken down, million dollars in debt you lose. It's impossible to predict and sometimes you may spend hours on a single level just because you're getting bad starts. The game is also a lot smaller than it seems. You see the giant map and all the possible places you can expand to when you suddenly realize.... none of the levels are long enough to…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Graphics are really meh.. The English used within the game, is well borderline english. LOTS of Bugs and Glitches thus making the game UNPLAYABLE... I have yet to get more than 10-15Mins through any scenario Before either a Bug.. Glitch.. Or game CRASH happens.. Only Scenarios work for me, anytime I try starting a game of a different type it never works, wont let me choose what country I want to start in just doesnt want to do anything. Essentially this game in itès current version is…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The game has potential, but in its current state (as of 8/14/15), it has a VERY long way to go, even for Early Access. I'm a huge supporter of early access games. I own probably about 50-60 ea games. This by far, ranks as being one of the most incomplete. It seems more like a pre-alpha. The Good 1) The graphics seem fine/good for this type of game, although many have complained that the cartoony graphics break the immersion of a business sim, making it feel more like a BigFish Games flash…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I find the game lacking in content which means it doesnt justify the price and then the Devs decided to change the game status from early access to finalized build without really changing anything. So a lacking product with devs that have questional morals. Dont support them by buing this product
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Interesting game which demands good strategy to keep your company flourishing. The scenarios vary from easy to challenging. In some you only need to make some profit on one oilfield with 2 or 3 pumps and a few other buildings, in others (or in a free game) you need to manage a multitude of oilfields on different continents with dozens to hundreds of buildings and a well managed scedule of delivery contracts. The game is still in early access but progress has been very good so far. There are…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's a fun game...alot like some of the older tycoon type games. You have to buy all the equipment needed to extract and sell the oil and manage profits and production wisely to not go bankrupt. However, This game needs more depth/strategy to it for it's price tag. (It is still early access and the dev's do seem to be still adding to it) After completing a few of the intro scenarios and 2 failed (bankrupt) attempts at free play I was able to devise a strategy that had great results for every…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's a pretty good game. I've always been a fan of the tycoon games and this has the potential to be one of the good ones. Some of the missions are abit confusing though (but it's still alpha, so it's ok) and there's abit of a misconseption from the developers that seem to think that their language (german) is the international language. The news here on steam are in german first and then english. Some of the menues are in german (I'm guessing they make the game in german and forgot to…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Very good business strategy game with gameplay for hours. Definitely recommend
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A nice game from the Crafty Studios. The graphics are well made and the game mechnics make totally sense. I used to play Oil Empire in the 90s and this one is a really good follow up in these kind of games. The balancing is well made and it's not too easy to get rich :) There are lots of scenarios available and a free play where you just go :) The development seems to come along good in the "early access" phase and I'm really looking forward to the finished game, when it's ready. This one…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Some great concepts. A liittle buggy but not bad. I work in the Oil and Gas Industry and this is the 1st game I've tried with petroleum references that hasn't insulted it though having well sites at the plant site is pretty rare in my region. Will be interested to see the game develope if that is the plan.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A Modern Oil Management Simulater https://youtu.be/ylhTZJrBOXY + A pretty nice and relaxing soundtrack + A great tutorial, easy to learn, and the user interface and clean and simple + The gameplay mainly consists of building a pumpjack, refinery, pumping station, and storage unit. Once you have these you will start gaining barrels of oil each day which you can sell on the market or take out contracts. Contracts are far more profitable, but if you fail to meet the daily quota you will be hit…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →One of the most repetitive games ever, I don't understand why so many people recommend this game, seriously, guys, are you thet primitive and can't master games that require some time and skill?
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I asked for a refund, what happen to the good tycoon games ?
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Great game, it reminds me of some old style games which is a very good thing! Development on this game is pretty good and it is being updated regularly! Back it up!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A very barebones game, bad implementations of assets and AI. Very limited building options. I tried it a couple of times trhough the years, since the game released already in 2016. I bought it as an early access game in the hopes it would become a nice casual economy sim, but alas I was deceived with yet another milkcow of Astragon. TransOcean 2 Rivals (and TO1) is also from Astragon. Both TO's are based of Ports of Call XXL by a german game developer. Which was released as early as 1995 also…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →At the time of this review, I'm only 4 hours in, but I think it is a decent game. For me, I work in the industry, and I know it is pretty complex, which explains why there isn't good simulators for it as opposed to aviation, rail, or even retail industry. What I found great about this game is even in its simplicity and cartoony style; it does capture the following: - The oil business is about optimizing processing. - Optimization is not a simple accomplishment, as the measurement of each…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The idea of the game is good but it has absolutley no deepness in economics or building. Place a few buildings, earn money, place more, earn more and so on. If you have filled one oil field, go to the next and get even richer. Thats really boring and for this price absolutley not worth a recommendation. Tycoon games from the mid of the 90´s are beating this by 100 times. In a sale for 2 - 4 € its maybe worth to try for a few hours of fun if you have absolutley nothing else to play. In total I…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Fun game overall. For now it looks like the variable that provides the challenge is time. Fun for scenarios but not freebuild. The concept is outstanding and the trade system works very well. In addition, its fun to work within the trading system. I would love to see more challenge around logistics by using tankers or oil rigs and having the ability to own fleets of both. That would introduce an entirely new overhead cost that would be fun the manage not to mention the challenge of…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Was hoping for a remake of Oil Imperium (aka Black Gold), but alas, it's not... The game is quite simple, yet it's a tad demanding. Gameplay is limited, and there's not alot to do but after the demanding start. Once you've gotten a base income sorted, there's not many challenges. Yet it's still fun to see how big you can make your company. I'd really appreciate it if there we're more elements from Oil Imperium, not just a game that resembles something you'd find in iTunes... I still recommend…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Light on features and those that are here could be generously described as unpolished. Multiple bug complaints in the forums haven't been answered by the devs in months. Would seem that this project has been abandoned. It's not terrible, but with so many feature-rich and polished simulators available I can't recommend this one. By lack of polish I mean: 2 x crash to desktop, a bug where contracts immediately fail (unaddressed in forums for 3 months), tiny amount of room to build your HQ with no…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I like the game :) But I think you should have a more detailed tutorial that explains things like contracts, maintainece, etc, more indepth. The tutorial scenario as it currently stands is very light on content.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →UPDATE 6/15/15 More content has been added and the difficulty levels have been tweaked a bit. There's still more things I'd like to see adjusted, but as it stands, the game is pretty fun to play and am switching my recommendation from negative to positive. Kudos to the devs for being very active and releasing content on a quick & regular basis. --- UPDATE 5/31/15 The game has admittedly improved a bit since the posting of my original review. More campaign missions and a free play mode…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Very Little Content. Not Very Fun.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I was amuzed, but very shortly because it's quite a shallow game. I'd say it was a tablet game if not for the price. Pick it up in a steam sale, I'd say.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →One of those games I see in my Library and think 'I must have been REALLY desperate for a new game' I wish Steam had an 'Indifferent' button. It's not good, it's not particularly bad, it's more why would you bother?
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Oil Enterprise is a fine little gem of a game, of course there is room for improvement when it comes to graphics quality or animations. But the bits and pieces fit together nicely, the mechanic is rather easy to understand but not that easy to master perfectly, and it has a very good replay value with all the scenarios and especially with the upcoming multiplayer. So, thumbs up from me!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Old-School-Tycoon game you say? Minimalistic, tough and excel-esque micromangement? Sounds boring? Nah. Crafty Studios really do catch the charm of the old Amiga times. The relatively dry gameplay gets spiced up by some cute comicish artworks and an excellent tutorial. I’m a few hours in it and really start digging it (you get it, huh?). An additional plus are the freely placable buildings on your drilling grounds, which do not really have an strategy effect, but allow you to get a grip on…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →By far the most stupid game ever that I've tried. It makes absolutely no sense and that is just the tutorial. DONT'T WASTE YOUR MONEY ON THIS RUBBISH!
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's just not fun in the current state.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →How many days has it gone? Oh a week... Wonderful timespender... 10/10 would buy again
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Simple, casual, outdated visuals - but hell, there is indeed soem fun hidden in this one! Chasing the sweet spot on the Oil market for tgetting the best $ for your precious black gold is quite entertaining, also betting on your own capability to fulfill high-risk contracts in the future, especially when one of the random events kicks in. A nice small business simulation, will update here after I play more.

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Nice game .... however i wasnt able to find the details i mean it does not have a detailed economy ...may be next time
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Fun game but constantly crashes so that it is unplayable. I have enjoyed what i've gotten to play though.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Play this game for 2 hours then refund. It's these types of games that suck you in the first hour, then gets repetitive as you expand globally. Do keep it if it is on 75% sale though
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Interresting but not deep enought. The "design" is not very good but it s not a key point. This game could be the starting point for a deeper simulator: take over IA competitors, stock options, change of technology that changes the reserves, by-products etc. There is few good oil simulators. There s a place for someone to develop a better option. Or Oil Enterprise does it or it will done at some moment. Buy it for ideas!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game had potential but after buying it me and my buddy who also baught the game cant connect to each other to play together, total waste like this
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Fun game that is enjoyable
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Very fun in a small space, but some problems exist preventing me from enjoying this game more: -Building placement. Spacing is very unintuitive. CLEARLY room for buildings, yet cannot place because of some hidden size variables. This is not communicated well. -Information. x does y is very vague, and the in-game help is missing for many terms, with no Google support either because of this game being obscure. Pop-ups unrelated to where I am such as the Ural one for every level or Africa…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →it kills the time spent 7hrs playing solo after the 1st scenario, unlocked all lands and built all the hq buildings think the price tag should half of what its listed at.... not much more too complete yes more scenarios but ..... can i be arsed not really.....
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I posted a yes recommend because it's fun for a few hours clicking away. I haven't really got very far into the scenarios but I'm afraid to say I'm already bored. I love this type of game but there is just too much clicking back and forth, I wish there was a way to automate the sales contracts. Other things seem to be a bit of a mystery, needed better accounting, things happen that I didn't seem to have much control of - in short, the problems are too much clicking and not enough…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →not a lot of depth to the game. dissappointed
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Good for what it is. It is a bit on the slow side and lacks any real depth. However, it is not designed to be an incredibly in-depth business game, so it is what it intends to be. A good game that will pass time. 6/10
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Really cool game I totally enjoy it!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's okay. Some of the maps are small.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Oh how I crave for a good oil tycoon game. But this isn´t it. Just a small scale game for children, at best. Not much to do or manage at all. You build a pump, a refinery, storage tank, some logistics like export pumps, repair-crew and security. That´s it. You sell your oil and repeat. More money, more pumps, more refineries... not much happening here at all.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A bare-bones oil management simulator that’s very boring with a basic gameplay loop of building structures, collecting oil, selling it and repeating with nothing more to add on.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Far from a real tycoon sim, Oil Enterprise is a bare-bones disaster. Watching your cash flow get destroyed by ridiculous contract penalties when you actually have the oil is peak bad game design. It’s trash, illogical, and barely functions as a complete game.
