There are many better games in the genre: Shapez Factory 2, Factorio, Omega Crafter, etc. And many genre-adjacent games that are more fun: Planet Crafter, Palworld, Schedule I, etc. Now, I have very mixed feelings on this game. On one hand, I love the genre, and this product is well built, is polished, and runs well. On the other, it's a frustrating and inelegant mess of a design. - You…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Don't get me wrong, I really like the game. It is fun and cozy. But I cannot in good conscience recommend the game due to what can only be described as developer greed. The game went full 1.0 release in May. There have been now, 5 overpriced frivolous DLCs. That do nothing but be cosmetic effectively. Which in that regard, is good. But not at the price they are asking. There is still so much that needs worked on in the game. Still a large amount of bugs and the endgame balance is very…

unlabelledView post →Disappointed, the game looked cute and I had been waiting for it ever since I saw the promotional video, but its restrictive compared to other games in the automation genre I have played, making it not fun. You can only build oddspark factories on specific spots, limiting how one builds the automation process.

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The game starts off with a solid path for progression and quickly escalates into arbitrarily large amounts of resources being needed for small amounts of progress. The Requirements to have late stage buildings in a specific zone forces you to utilize multiple trains and redo most if not all of your manufacturing multiple times. To move your base or production centers isn't a smooth process forcing you to again place a multitude of small chest that allow you to pull the items from anywhere to…

unlabelledView post →This feels so unintentionally clunky because of poor design choices, I can't recommend it at all. You have very limited slots for "what kind of minions" you can equip, so to optimize anything you need to CONSTANTLY swap them in and out. That forced pigmin gameplay component adds NOTHING, it's just so incredible tedious. This tree needs chopper-minions, this stone needs stone-minions, this path needs carry-minions... jfc. And instead of path finding, "every minion just goes RIGHT all the…

unlabelledView post →I consider this a cozy factory builder, intended more for new players to the genre. It's intentionally slow paced, and any attempt at building a statistically perfect factory is blocked at every turn by the game design. The game itself actually has a lot of depth thanks to the train system, temperature zones, logic layers, and a variety of creature sparks. However I found I ignored a lot of that depth. The logic layer in particular stands out for containing a flip-flop circuit, which seems…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Very cute game that mixed both pikmin and factory themed gameplay ultimately made a bit too redundant. With the base price already being a little high for the overall experience, I am very saddened to see they took the approach of shifting to paid dlc for additional content. In all honesty, when I saw the accouncement for CoasterRush, I believed it to be an update and happily looked through the patchnotes but once i realized it would cost roughly 25% of the base game I really cant help but feel…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I loved about 90% of this game. Pikmin meets automation. Yeah there was a bit of running around and some of the automation got really demanding but I was having a ton of fun with it. Unfortunately for some reason the end of the game, probably at least the last 20 hours I played, were utterly miserable. You need resources from sludge combat that you simply cannot automate due to the way it automatically scales to outmatch your defenses. And then you have to go into a restricted area where…

unlabelledView post →Yeah the game is cute and all, but it seems the devs stopped caring about the game and is just churning out cosmetic dlcs that are in no way worth what they are charging. I mean, it is fun enough but at this point I can't really recommend it anymore. There are still issues that need to be fixed but not a word from the devs about actually doing that, just more DLCs that are while not earth shatteringly expensive it is a death by a thousand cuts at this point. Very sad to see as there is a solid…

I had my whole art team paint little Valentine's cards this year to promote our game "Oddsparks". And even tho it had little impact, I think everybody enjoyed the opportunity a lot!
unlabelledView post →It seems like work life, when you think that you are evolving and accomplishing, the game comes and makes everything 1000X harder. I'm playing with 2 friends, each one doing one task, as it is still frustrating. I have mixed feelings about this game.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →In Response to Common Complaints: (For context, I am currently 60 hours in, have nearly 1k hours in Satisfactory, a sizable chunk in Shapez/Zachtronics-verse/Atrio, and no less than three separate therapy appointments that have used the fact that I refuse to buy Factorio, because I don't like the visuals, as a metaphor for why I think I'm going to die alone.) TL;DR This is not Conveyor Belt Automation. This is secret Programming Automation wrapped in adorable visuals. There's an optional…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I was getting annoyed with the game for a while but tried getting through it out of pure spite. Don't get me wrong the game is not without charm or promise, but it just doesn't work properly. Progression is pretty arbitrary and stops giving you relevant or useful things, at some point it's just unlocking a bunch of nonsense for no real purpose. A lot of system are also fighting themselves or just don't work properly, everything from available space, elevation, path logistics is fighting…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Why do authors create mechanics that waste our time instead of letting us just play the game? Inventory should be bigger, like 4 times. Stack size should be customizable - at least in our inventory - like from default to 9999. Characted walk speed should be tweakable. We should be able to truly fully control the camera - i mean from 0 to 90 degrees - perpendicular to earth. We should be able to walk "throug" small rocks, trees and bushes - as, well, they are small, so passable. This is so…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Honestly, the Stumpy spark is probably my favorite. These little guys are just too cute... Oddsparks is such a fun game and I would totally sleep with a Stumpy spark in my arms 💚
unlabelledView post →The game has its moments, but its not a solid take on the automation genre. Everything is "technically" there, but its execution is lackluster. Much of it can be forgiven for the positives it brings to the table, and it is worth a play through with some caveats. I beat it on normal. I restarted 3/4 of the way through, kept the normal settings nd my tier to rebuild a more orderly base. Some tips: Unless you are hyped on achievements, lowering the quest threshold and making the game easier is…

unlabelledView post →I enjoyed the demo of this game, and the full version has some improvements (like having chests full of aether sparks, so you don't need to grind 50 mobs at the start of the game). That said, it will be free on Epic from 4-30-26 through 5-7-26, so maybe get it there and give it a try before buying it here.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Months later, still the same ♥♥♥♥ user interface (console port and bad at it), extreme lack of QOL EVERYWHERE. But they added fluff and clothes . . . . . . . . . . You're gonna have fun for a bit, and then frustration, and then rage. Move on to any of the hundreds of better automation games.

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Finally forced myself to finish the game, after postponing it for a month. I already would have hard time recommending it, between annoying pathing, poorly designed crossroads and crappy little +1 hills, that will mess up building placement. But forcing automated combat in the endgame has done it for me. So crossroads - some building have multiple inputs. I found 2 ways to handle and both felt wrong. Either have a lot of crossing (and they can deadlock if it's too tight) or some minor logic…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I would give this a thumbs up for fun idea, Pikman and Factorio combined in one. Thumbs down would be the nonsensical LGBT rainbow garbage and dlc. I'm not sure why they thought adding all of that sexual orientation flags junk would somehow enhance the game. It's pointless to advertise what you like to f#@$. It's tiresome to see. The DLC is crap also. They started out strong, but then the devs just gave up it looks like. If you get it on sale and like automation style games, give it a go.…

unlabelledView post →game was fun, but the "forced" placement of too many buildings forces you to really span a lot of the map, but resources you really need get harder to bring together, and things burn wood faster than a fat guy thru cheetos. Everything that can burn fuel, takes a lo fuel very fast, even when not actually smelting items. All renewable fuels come from trees in one way or another as far as i can tell, (maybe you can greenhouse automate fire shrooms? idk, would still require fertilizer, from tree…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Pretty fun game but I'm currently stuck in tier 3 due to enemies I need to kill for a quest not spawning in after killing them. I've ran through the entire woodlands area a dozen times at this point and don't feel like doing another loop around. Hopefully this gets fixed..
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Don't really know how to describe it but the game feels really shallow I tried to get into it many times but other then it looking cute it doesn't have much going for it in my opinion the automation just feels clunky and not really thought out as much like what do you mean you don't have a small bridge or a tunnel for the sparks to pass under ??? No i don't want to put a stupid cross walk and watch them hit each other or awkwardly wait for their turn to pass it doesn't look satisfying or…

unlabelledView post →Outstanding factory-buildinbg game with a great spin on the genre, awesome UX and progression systems. Only downside I can think of is that the endgame can quickly become a slog, the quest requirements raising substantially.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →So the game has the feel of Pikmin meets Factor.io which I like, and I will give it full credit there. It is cute, it is intricate, but the the villagers giving quests kind of felt like the creators were ticking the so called "check marks" for inclusivity. The villagers are more forced into their positions than anything else. No character drew me in to ask why the mayor is in a wheelchair, or how the quartermaster lost a leg, or anything like that. None of the characters felt like they had…

unlabelledView post →Game itself is fun so far, but I'm starting to get very weird vibes from the characters. Why are all of the black characters so stupid that they can barely function, but the white characters are immediately 100% capable at their jobs? On the one hand: We've got a basic logger who figured out how to create complex machinery that mindless bots can work to create complex things. On the other hand: We've got the scientist that doesn't understand how a lever works until you give her hundreds of…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Pretty cool game in concept. Unfortunately it tries to do 3 things (combat, exploration and automation), the 3 are disjointed and slow each other down, rather than supplementing each other. Automation is its own content island whose only connection to other 2 areas are the quests that unlock interacting with something in the world (you can see that thing. It literally tells you to complete a quest to interact). By the way, automation is identical to any other game, except it's not as deep…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Jerky sluggish-feeling rendering - it's actually fairly responsive but I think there's some sort of buffering or something that makes it feel sluggish. Game takes too long to get going, and appears to consist almost entirely of "bring me 100 somethings that'll take 2+ minutes to collect", at least to begin with. I saw the vague beginnings of automation stuff but it's like "we're not going to let you have access to anything that makes the automation actually work yet" in a way that made me give…

Great on the PC and the SteamDeck, it's cute, fun, has a nice story, reasonable quests, and lovely factory elements, including automation. I highly recommend this game. I had several runs of trains and didn't experience any issues getting items, including fuel, around the map.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is sooooo cool! It's like Factorio but less complicated and you can play with your controller. I also like the quests, it always gives you a next goal. I also like to throw my minions.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Should have the LGBTQ label, has alot of that rhetoric jammed into the game.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Oddsparks is a charming, more relaxed take on the automation genre. The art style is great. Watching all my little sparks running around working is one of the best parts of the game. The mechanics are much simpler than something like Factorio or Satisfactory but there was still plenty here to keep me engaged the whole way through. The tutorial section is a bit long but the game really comes into its own once you get into the mountains and the game gives you supply chests (same as dimensional…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Oddsparks: An Automation Adventure might look like a cozy take on factory games because of its presentation, but don’t be fooled. While it does not lean into heavy min maxing like some staples of the genre (Factorio, Satisfactory) and does not really offer a way to fully centralize your operations, it succeeds by doing its own thing. The key lies in the adventure part of the title. This is as much an automation game as it is an adventure game. Progression is driven by quests, unlocks, and…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Edit : Buy the game nearly on release, one year later it's free to get on Epic :') damn The game doesn't scratch the itches I wanted to scratch except Cute. It feels really slow to progress and we don't get that "haha" moment of automatization. It's cute looking, but not cozy feeling, no industrial complexity and the bitter aftertaste are the DLCs that lock mechanisms behind pay walls when it should have been implemented in the base game. A little bit more optimization wouldn't hurt either!…
