Ocean's Thirteen
Danny Ocean's team of criminals are back and composing a plan more personal than ever. When ruthless casino owner Willy Bank doublecrosses Reuben Tishkoff, causing a heart attack, Danny Ocean vows that he and his team will do anything to bring down Willy Bank along with everything he's got. Even if it means asking for help from an enemy. From TMDB

This time myself, @mandateofheaven.bsky.social, @gaorush.bsky.social, and @jordevio.soy pit two TITANS of films against each other: Ocean's Thirteen and Monkeybone. Also a very insane Aalto tangent you won't wanna miss. youtu.be/qeTmj_e46vo

There was also an all-woman spinoff *Ocean's Eight* (a la *John Wick*'s spinoff *Ballerina*). Anyway, *Ocean's Fourteen* will be the fourth mainline Ocean's films. Don't ask me why I know any of this I only ever saw the first one and never went out of my way to see it again. Thanks, Wikipedia, for helping me confirm details, though.…

unlabelledView post →Pick a movie that could have been great. Recast ONE role to fix it. Ocean's Thirteen is still solid but Al Pacino is goofy and offputting, drags down every scene. Give me Robert Redford and we have a more serious, menacing foil to take down. Instantly a more suitable conclusion to our best trilogy.

unlabelledView post →Ocean's Thirteen was a romp. Cinematic, impossible and tantalising with plot-holes and inexplicable events. I loved it, it's back to what Ocean's Eleven was, but with nitro. A cool gonzo heist movie. Fingers crossed Ocean's Eight doesn't blow it...

unlabelledView post →It is a fair point, but maybe it can be left to the reader to envisage. I know these days readers insist on every detail being pinned down for them, but that was not always the way. Look at the domino game in the movie 'Ocean's Thirteen' we never learn the rules of it.

unlabelledView post →You have to give Steven Soderbergh credit for just going, "I am never, ever, ever going to let the audience guess what kind of movie I will make next." (Except for, I guess, Ocean's Twelve and Ocean's Thirteen.)

This was lots of fun and my favorite of the Ocean films. There's so many tiny pieces and moving parts that my wife and I were completely befuddled most of the time but watching them all come together in the final act was magic. The characters, the acting, the writing, the direction.. everything worked to present a highly entertaining caper of…

I think the lack of Julia Roberts & Catherine Zeta-Jones really stings but I do understand that it would've been difficult to integrate them into this plot. +

unlabelledView post →Good watch, could watch again, and can recommend. This is about as good as the original without the historical mark. I love the alternative motive of getting revenge for a friend, this way it's not about how much you can steal, its about how much you can make someone else lose, and it's against someone might be justifiably shot, not that it would help Reuben. This movie gets every bit as complex with less over explaining than the last movie, keeping it fresh and interesting. All the same…
