What people are saying
Overwhelmingly positive, with praise for polish, physics, and soundtrack.
Players celebrate the polished pixel art and tight controls, calling it a rewarding precision platformer. Many highlight the addictive 'just one more try' loop and satisfying physics. [1][2]
A few critics note steep difficulty and occasional slippery controls, but most agree the challenge is fair. One negative review alleges poor level design and 'shill' reviews, though this is an isolated claim. [14][36]

unlabelledView post →Interesting concept, better physics. Growing up with 3D games that hold your hand meant I missed the platformer wave, but this is a great place to start. It’s tough—prepare for some "skill issue" moments—but trying to beat your ghost with different craft is incredibly satisfying. Fun Physics? Yes. Tough but Fair? Mostly. Recommended? Absolutely.

unlabelledView post →Played this game during the demo and got addicted to going back and forth between friends and hunting times. Same story on full release. New mechanics I've come across in zones 2/3 add a lot to the levels (some of the space debris interactions are actually hilarious). Easiest $12 buy I've come across in a while. 10/10
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I've adored the pixel art-style since learning about this game, but I thought I wouldn't enjoy the gameplay as much as I actually did until a friend gifted it to me. My fingers are displeased with my APM once I recognised and started using air breaks, thruster limiters AND resets. Honestly want to see the speedrunners get their hands on this game, that'd be such a banger to watch. By the way, the ART STYLE... It's peam.

unlabelledView post →Loving the soundtrack and the difficulty. While aiming for the maximum score, the satisfaction you get from figuring out the optimal pathing and then trying to execute that idea is super gratifying. ALSO big neuron activation upon seeing your name pop on the leaderboard after numerous trials and errors finding the fastest pathing. Would recommend to friends

This level took me much longer to do because it wasnt enough to just complete the level, I needed to be faster than all my friends and I saw the line. Dont mind them playing mahjong in the background

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Incredibly well polished game. I'm not usually a huge fan of precision platformers but I've found myself playing through this one trying to get better and reach the higher scores almost without thinking. The controls are so tight and it feels like any mistake is mine rather than the game. It has options for those who may usually struggle with games like this in the form of various ships, one you start with is a little slower but can take two hits, and its insane how much more forgiving this…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is one of those games where you find yourself going "ok just one more, I'll get it this time" again and again and again and again. It's just plain simple fun in an addictive way. I hope they make the lore more accessible for people like me who aren't exactly the best at the game because the few entries I've read have been fascinating and I wanna work out what happens next. Oh well, just have to try that level again... and again...
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Went into this thinking I'm going to fly through the levels Humbled within the first handful of levels 100 deaths within 30 minutes 10/10
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Ah you know the drill! Always keen on seeing passionate Australian devs making a great little game. Was happy to test it in its earlier stages. The soundtrack alone makes it so worthwhile and the gameplay is positively addicting. Might get a steamdeck for this to play on my way around.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A really challenging and rewarding game, giving you that "just one more try" feeling. Slick visuals and great sound track, definitley recommend!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Some more Nullstar because the game is fun and satisfying af.
unlabelledView post →I'm too old for this game. The best thing I can say about this game is it took about 8 seconds for me to determine it was not for me. You've got this droney thing you can steer with the d pad or joystick, and you need to navigate the obstacles to collect the various glowing things. It's easy. Then the game slaps your hand and says you merely achieved the goals, but you didn't do it --- > FAST ! < (KAPOW!) Oh okay, how do we go faster? Well you've got four thrusters on your ship, and if you…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Its a fun little game, similar in style to flash game like you would have played on newgrounds 20 years ago. You can finish the game relatively quickly, but for a game like this you don't want it to be too long. Its tough, but fair for the most part. The ships can be a little too slippery and finnicky to control at times, sometime that can be frustrating for games like this that require precision. I played through the game and never unlocked a new ship, which is pretty dumb, as it should just…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Glad to see the feedback about the 'instant spawn after death' be incorporated into the full release of the game! The mechanics on disabling directions is a new one to me, and feels like a rewarding skill to master, albeit a bit confusing initally (disabling a direction will still cause the boosters to fire opposite of where you are going, obviously). I first played the demo on Keyboard, but would wholly recommend a controller to make the full use of this mechanic, which even the game pushes…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →only up to level 12 and the momentum building is so unique and challenging in the best way. admittedly a steep learning curve, but i've already hit flow state in multiple levels. very cool :D
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It does exactly what it says on the box, and it does it well. Hardcore difficulty that taps into your precsion platforming addictiion - and makes you keep coming back for more punishment... because you get so close. The micro levels are just the right size for that "maybe, one more go-around" type experience. Great sfx and style variation between biomes (Worlds?)... not sure why we start in the CBD and head for the suburbs? There's a few QoL features that I can really appreciate, the #1…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Music and art is good and pretty, controls are tight and the gameplay is incredibly skilled based but i will never get to the global leaderboards because i drive the ship like i am 105 years old.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Saw 30 reviews with 100% recommend. Bought the game. Beaten W1 and grinded most of the WRs. Got bored due to poor level design. Moved to W2. Disappointed at space garbage appears from W2, that causes "random" blocked. Stopped playing. Checked profile of review posters. Most are shills within 1hr playtime, and not even beat W1. A few with over 10hrs but no achievements unlock. I’ve let it go with this reviewe :)
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Nifty dexterity / precision game with fun physics. Levels throw twists at you regularly to keep it fresh, but are also well paced so as to not frustrate you for too long. Banger Audio too!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Great for speedrunnners with an amazing soundtrack

unlabelledView post →Developed by Smash Attack Aus and published by indie.io, Nullstar: Solus is a fast-paced precision platformer that thrives on fluid movement, technical mastery, and rewarding exploration. Set in a distant future where corporations scour the remnants of extinct civilizations for an immensely powerful energy source known as the Nullstar, the game casts players as a drone pilot sent deep into a colossal abandoned structure. Rather than presenting its narrative through lengthy cutscenes, the game…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I'm only an hour in but I'm already itching to pick it up again when I get the chance. I didn't realise how much I needed a game like this to suck at so I can be angry at something other than the economy. The music goes hard too and brings me back to my peak terraria days, with some rad solos to boot. Personally I find using the joystick a little more natural and quick than the D-pad, but it's nice I can flip-flop between the two depending on what maneuver I'm trying to pull off.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Really atmospheric pixel art style and incredibly smooth gameplay and transitions to go with it. The mechanics for gaining more speed can be tricky to get the hang of, but they are consistent and offer a good challenge
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The game is freaking good man. Play it!!!!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Fun & addicting 2D precision platformer. It knows what it is and does what it sets out to do at a very polished level. - Fast paced level design that encourages mastering levels and speedrunning - Soundtrack that had no right to go that hard - Polished and readable pixel art
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →(My playtime is low here, because I've mostly played on PS5) This is the first game I've played in a longtime that really has something really unique in terms of movement mechanics for timetrials (last game that felt like that was Aero Racer / Rocket Racing, which is so old now). Switching off thrusters to produce more power to the remaining ones is such a novel concept -- and a really brain-bending one. As a result this feels like a complicated mix of a puzzle game mashed with fast-paced…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Been following this one for a while! Smooth gameplay, great tightly compacted levels, 3 star levels are just within reach. Plays well on Steam deck as well. Well done guys on the launch.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Played this game for only a short period and already having a real fun time with it. I love that the levels are quick with different routes and objectives like aiming for a higher score, really kept the fun for me in the game. Am definetly coming back to this game on the regular.
