Please spread the word, and support it! ❤️ (No Players Online Steam page)

unlabelledView post →I feel kind of bad giving this a negative review, and to be fair, it's not like I regret purchasing it. This is a game with a very clear large amount of effort poured into it - it has a lot of heart and soul. I don't think this is a terrible game - just a disappointing one. The original release, with the demo, I found electrifying. It was weird, interesting, as well as being really freaky. It was genuinely, a scary game. It leveraged its mystery through that scariness. This game opens with…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Leaving a review to help the devs get a bit more visibility after they got falsely DMCA'd. It's a neat new take on the original freeware game that came out a few years ago. Definitely give it a go if you're into ARG type horror flicks.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →No Players Online is extremely cool and has you sleuthing around a old PC desktop and has little games within the game. A lot of love and care was put into all the little details!! It deserved better than being stifled immediately after release so please check it out if you can!
unlabelledView post →No Players Online is an interesting project... The original free game was a really cool & creepy "found footage" piece on old FPS lobbies. The retail one goes in very different directions and is a technical marvel - a joy to explore! However, the writing is so bad that it drags the game down :/
unlabelledView post →I loved "No Players Online" so much! What a fun game (I got teary eyed) I'm sure there's more to explore in the game than I may have found, but WOW what a fun time! If you like 90's FPS and some retro PC horror...get your paws on this. :-)

unlabelledView post →Pretty disappointing experience, unfortunately. I enjoyed the original game jam short version. But from the final release, all the good parts were in the demo. The more i played, the worse it got, culminating in the finale that required me to wait while two NPCs argued with each other while i had to navigate pretty frustrating platform jumping. And several times the way to progress was literally "wait until they stop talking" - not a fitting end to something that relied on weird puzzles for…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The devs would love to talk to any journos/content creators etc about NO PLAYERS ONLINE and shed more light on what happened here. Interesting story of a game that got *milllions* of views on YouTube etc years back getting killed on Steam for its full release. Poke me and I'll loop ya in.
unlabelledView post →overall liked this a lot and really don't get some of the negative reviews, which seem to mostly come from people expecting something this really obviously wasn't going to be. like, currently the top rated review of this game is complaining that it isn't Shipwrecked 64. ok? why did you even expect that? what this IS is a pretty gonzo drama story wrapped up in a little spooky package, which is... exactly what the game it shares the name of and is directly labeled as the spiritual successor to…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →our game No Players Online is coming out in a month from now on November 6th! :) (exactly one years since the original game!!)
unlabelledView post →As a narrative horror game, this was really good and has some GREAT parts in it. Very memorable and does some unique stuff related to the 90's internet/video game horror concept I really appreciate. My only gripe is with the ending. I won't get into spoilers, but the game ends in a pretty basic lore dump platform sequence and forgets that it's a horror game. It's nothing that bad, but compared with everything else the game has done/built up to it, I was disappointed that it ends on a…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Be aware if you buy this game you won't get the same experience as the 2019 version. I got maybe ten minutes in the haunted FPS map, which was the reason I bought the game. I spent more time in the random platforming segments than in the thing the game is ostensibly named after. The story direction was also really disappointing. I wanted a horror game, I didn't want to play through a tragedy, or a drama. I wanted a horror game. Pretty disappointed.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Keepin' on with my "corrupted software horror" vibes: Play the retail release of No Players Online. It's absolutely visually stunning with the number of tricks it pulls, and it's a love letter to games and game making as well as a game about how the act of creation can consume us and those we love.
unlabelledView post →No players online while at first seems to be doing something different in the linear story walking sim games genre, ultimately falls into cliches that make an interesting concept into a dull experience. It's hard to say this because you can genuinely see the passion flowing from the game. No Players Online started as a very short horror game on itch.io, where the concept was a very simple. An abandoned FPS game that was long forgotten and is now haunted by a spirit. Simple, fun and to the…

The game's mysterious story smoothly unfolds into an atmospheric and visual gem, keeping you hooked until the very end. Its a short journey, but every moment feels unique and fresh, and it all comes together in a satisfying finale that leaves me wanting for more games like this. 100% recommend to play.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game is amazing. Super fun, intriguing, and spooky in a non-traditional sense. Most horror titles lean into jump scares, disturbing imagery, or gameplay mechanics that emphasize player weakness against overwhelming enemies. This game is different. The presentation, the narrative, and the gameplay all create this unique experience that leaves you feeling like there's more to be said after you reach the conclusion of the story. The presentation is that of an old school personal computer…

unlabelledView post →i feel like 15 dollars is way too much for this. this should be 10-12 dollars tops. nonetheless what was originally no players online, the demo, was actually very well structured and was insanely creepy and mysterious. the full release was extremely underwhelming, with around 3 hours (?) of extra content being added to the demo, and slapping a heavy price on it. style is extremely appealing, and the computer sim was really fun too, but the story itself and the atmosphere wasn't as good as the…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I'm still sad more people haven't played the full version of No Players Online (I suspect because the original itch jam game went semi-viral and they assume it's the same?) But it's a much bigger and less horror-y game that tells the story of how creative work can consume us.
unlabelledView post →Leaving a review to help boost the visibility after that unfortunate turn of events. This is very well produced and very well made hence the positive rating, not a bad game at all. Unfortunately this game is just not very scary. It's a supernatural love drama while the horror take a backseat, more accurately it's hidden in the trunk of the car. I genuinely do not think anyone will seriously be scared too much since the deeper you go, the lesser the horror happen. You'd expect the mystery to…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →i was pretty disappointed with the fact that this game is not a horror at all. refunded midway through
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Having me stand on an inescapable ledge for 2 minutes while someone rattles off self narration of the current scenario like they're a marvel character, no less than like 5 times, is sadistic. The game positions itself as some kind of psychological horror and immediately sheds any sense of mystery by absolutley loading the entire last act with hamfisted exposition and corny dialogue. I thought being told what we are told almost immediately in .txt files felt a little too heavy on the exposition…

unlabelledView post →The first hour of the game is fine, and it seems like an nice, atmospheric game otherwise, but the wrong dates and other small things just keep taking me out of immersion. I can't get into it. It's like seeing a character in a TV show point at something that's blue and calls it red. And then the explanation for it is "actually, they live in an alternate universe where blue is called red" why don't you just call it blue still? You're confusing people for no reason. Or how about a WW2 war movie…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I don't know. Feels like style over substance. The idea of "digging through an old piece of hardware to play a seemingly cursed game" is an ancient trope at this point, but tropes are tools and there's clearly lots of juice to be extracted from this fruit still. But this felt a little too stale, a little too familiar. What was not familiar was the... timeframe. The game apparently takes place in 1995, with the interface somewhat resembling what we had back then, but the "cursed FPS"…

unlabelledView post →This game is a bit of a mess. The storytelling is extremely basic and not nuanced at all. You already understand it after the first creepy sequence but then it just keeps explaining it over and over. I thought that was a bit lame but the gameplay was really fun. I love clicking around the old computer looking for ways to progress, combining the games was fun and especially the dating game was hilarious. The ending however is TERRIBLE. unlabelledView post →I was very excited to check this game out, I enjoyed the original game from back in the day and even further enjoyed the demo released a few months ago. The final product is a massive disappointment, it fails to deliver on almost every front. First of all as many say this game is not horror at all, the most you get is the occasional loud noise and creepy atmosphere but that stops fast, there is a lot you could do with the setting and you can see from a technical standpoint they can pull a lot…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Really, really disappointed. After waiting 5 years for a clever horror game, I am given a "find obscure BS: the game" clicking around an old computer trying to figure out how to advance what little plot there is. Horror? Nah, let's make it a mystery and remove all the things you got excited for from the demo FIVE. YEARS. AGO. This was in my wishlist for SO LONG, and after beating Amanda the Adventurer 3 I was so hopeful for a true horror game. Refunded, I am tired of this.

unlabelledView post →Great game, not a horror more of a drama investigation game. Love it!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Played the demo a while back and thought "why is this a demo, how could they expand on this idea?". Well they did, and holy moly did they outdo themselves. Some of the most unique ideas I've seen in a story horror game. It felt like I was uncovering a big mystery that no one else stumbled upon. I would absolutely recommend this to indie horror enjoyers.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →No Players Online JUST missed halloween, but it's a horror game about exploring a haunted, dead game and its surrounding OS. Jitter is a monochrome, physics'y space space mining sandbox with some crunchy mechanics. Thrasher is the follow-up to psychedelic VR-optional 'rhythm violence' gem Thumper.

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →No Players Online is a masterclass in the power of 'Unity of Effect' to tell a story. Playing the game feels like you actually turned on the old family computer and found some shit you shouldn't have
unlabelledView post →It feel like a lot of the game was cut in developpement . The whole soul transfer system was what made me excited for the game and there is barely a use of this mechanic . It feels like we see only 40% of what should have been every part of the game, from the soul transfer to the FPS itself .
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Final game is worse than the original free version from itch or a demo. It's not the horror game I waited for.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A good game with marketing issues The game is good. It was fun and interesting to play. I passed it in one sitting. But not without issues: Disappointment Like some other players, I am disappointed that this game is not a sequel to Demo. The full game completely rejects horror. It may seem ‘scary’ at times, but it's like a small doggy barking. I'm very upset about this because I wanted horror, but the game focuses more on using a virtual OS, playing mini-games (I like this part) and a tragic…

Played this game in pretty much one sitting front to back with small break in between, my first two hours with game was pretty fun and found the game to be interesting. unlabelledView post →There are a ton of cool ideas and things in this game, but the back half just fumbles everything amazing that carried the demo and the first half. It steers itself in a totally different direction and feel. I genuinely felt baffled at the final part because I didn't know if I was playing the same game. Another annoying thing, is that it over explained things SO MANY TIMES. I was able to catch on to the story and what was happening rather fast, which made the 3+ times they explain whats going on…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This review was rewritten after the resolution of an issue the developers very unfortunately had forced upon them, in which the game was falsely DMCA claimed and the game was delisted from Steam for roughly three weeks. This really is a worst-case scenario for a indie team that's just finished a game after 5+ years of development, and I feel incredibly sorry for what they've had to deal with. The development of this game seems to come from a very earnest place. The team has worked for a long…

Unfortunately, I felt like the game lacked both in content as well as…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's not exactly terrible, but if you're looking for a fleshed out version of the original demo's concept of exploring creepy abandoned multiplayer servers, you are likely to be disappointed. This game feels like it's chained to the original demo's stellar idea and wants desperately to do something completely different. The full release of No Players Online suffers from a drastic shift in tone almost immediately following the near 1:1 copy of the demo. It quickly trashes the gameplay of…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game has some cool parts, but the writing is really bad. It can't really decide if it wants to faithfully represent late 90s internet culture or if it wants to just be a horror game with a fancy interface. The fancy interface is impressive sometimes, but it's clear the devs are too young to actually know about any of the stuff they're trying to do with the retro setting, so it becomes quite silly very quickly. Mostly a chore to play outside of occasionally looking at interesting set…
