What people are saying

Split verdict: some praise improvements, others cite bugs and shallow content.

Many players note the game has improved significantly since its rocky early access launch, with smoother gameplay and a solid foundation. The tense, hardcore zombie experience and permadeath mechanics are frequently praised for creating memorable moments. [3][7][11][19]

However, critics point to persistent bugs like connection loss causing character loss, a shallow endgame, and a dwindling player base. Some also feel the game has lost the atmosphere of its predecessor and that the developers' frequent changes have hurt its identity. [18][22][25][34][35]

Praised improved post-launch state · tense hardcore gameplay · permadeath creates memorable moments
Criticised connection issues and bugs · shallow endgame content · low player count · loss of original atmosphere

It's sad because there is so much to love about this game, but every time the game does something amazing it's held back by the developers doing something stupid. So the highlight why you should hold off on giving them any money, here you go: Gun: Sound, look and feel amazing, some of the best gunplay I've personally experienced. Understandably for a zombie game with resource management, ammo is rare, so guns are really valuable, right? RIGHT? Well, yes and no, guns are really useful, but…

Lost my lv 75 Char due to "Lost connection to host" If you are developing a hardcore game with permadeath mechanics you should absolutely have mechanisms in place to prevent loss of hours of progress due to technical problems the player cant have any control over.

Everyone is talking about gameplay but I want to talk about something else. This feels like the first true "multiplayer" game I've played in years. I play a lot of games, almost all of them multiplayer but they feel like singleplayer experiences if that makes sense. We've lost a lot of the sense of community, everyone is in a private discord with their friends, nobody talks in games except for callouts or to trash talk your last play. well this game felt like I had returned to early 2000's…

Original Review: Ignore all reviews before August 11th. As of 1.0 release this game is great. It's not easy, if you're expecting L4D or a more arcade style game - this isn't it. I suggest watching some vids if you're on the fence. Please don't go in blind and then give a bad review because you had 0 idea what you were getting into. Also, you can mute players - there's a bad review saying you can't. It's wrong. EDIT 2 (28AUG26): Still recommend, having a blast. Check out the devs known…

The game is in a solid state now. It's finally hitting it's stride that it SHOULD have started with during it's initial release. Almost all complaints from 2 years ago have been properly addressed and have been ironed out legitimately. The shining elements that it did show back then, can finally truly shine brightly now. The game understands and completely nails what makes zombie games fun. The zombies. If you're a romero fan, you'll find a lot to love here with the zombies in this game. They…

There’s a reason the game has fewer than 200 players. Constantly changing the core gameplay is exactly what drove people away. You can't improve a game when you're always replacing its foundation. Instead of refining what's there, the developers keep scrapping it and starting over. The game has never had a clear identity, and the player count reflects that. The Discord doesn't help either—it's an echo chamber where people defend every bad decision. A game full of bugs isn't excused just because…

I like the game, despite its many flaws, errors, bugs, and everything else on the list... but this is Early Access. I also understand that the game is being developed by a couple of developers, not a full team. Therefore, I will leave a positive review and support the project, rather than participate in its demise, like most of the indignant people. I will leave an objective opinion and point out the pros and cons, as well as a few suggestions for improvement and content. I hope the developers…

Have you ever watched the opening to 28 Weeks Later and thought- "You know what? I want a game just like that." Well look no further because NMRiH2 is it. I mean that in a good way. It's not L4D, more like Resident Evil Outbreak. It gets the heart rate spiking at times, and bad teammates are just a difficulty modifier. So you must be thinking. "Why the negative review?" My Answer: Because even if you're 20 feet up climbing a ladder, zombies at the bottom can somehow still attack you.…

The first 10–15 hours were fun because I was still learning the game and discovering the different map variations. However, once you have seen everything, the thrill disappears, and grinding further starts to feel meaningless. In my opinion, the game is still too shallow, and the loadout and inventory systems are good examples. When you complete a mission and successfully extract your survivor, you only receive credits and XP to unlock perk slots. You do not keep any of the weapons,…

My history with the game: I've been playing NMRIH for over a decade now and NMRIH 2 was something I've been watching closely since it first got announced. When NMRIH 2 came out into early access, I bought it. The game sucked buns but I was hopeful for change. Few weeks to 1.0: I've been playing the game on and off, as there wasn't much to do in the game, and everyone was sweating trying to finish all the missions as fast as possible. The 1 thing I was wishing they added was a solo mode. I…

The Game has changed a lot from when it first released. much like the Undead in game (at released), it refused to stay dead no mater how many people unloaded full Mags into it. They've listen to the community and changed a lot of aspects like The UI and Objectives, and weapons. the Game is genuinely fun if you like hardcore zombie games, and if you have it and haven't touched it in a while, you should give it a go.

Do NOT buy this game unless you have a dedicated squad of friends to play with. If you plan to rely on public matchmaking, save your money. The core issue with No More Room in Hell 2 right now is the player base's complete misconception of what the game actually is. A massive portion of the lobby treats this title like a hardcore extraction shooter. They load into matches with a total "every man for himself" mindset, sprinting straight toward loot spawns, hoarding high-tier gear, and treating…

Keep releasing updates that most of the player base dislikes, the last 100 players are happy tho! I would say the game was more fun to play a year ago than today in it's current state, with everybit of fun taken out of it little by little. Don't even mind all the huge nerfs to weapons, both melee and ranged and the huge perk nerfs on top, as much as that one update that lowered the speed of everything in the game, making matches play out much slower than before.

No More Room In Hell 2 is perhaps one of the biggest and best examples of how publishers ruin everything. This game has a perfectly playable and fun looking build that had been shown to YouTubers and streamed by the developers weeks before the original launch date. For some reason torn banner bought the series days before launch and then threw away the entire 2022 build and recoded the game in a year only keeping the assets. So the game launched and was obviously horrible and I didn't buy the…

Short and simple. It's not perfect, but it is fun despite some of the jank. The game is challenging enough to keep you going and the permadeath makes every run that much better. Needs a bigger player base, but you're in a game on casual/easy within 2 minutes. It's worth getting it on sale. Edit: After adding another 30 hours of gameplay, game keeps getting better. Let me break down some of main arguments against it and why I think they're bogus. 1. Melee - Awkward at first and physics…

The Developers won't give up on this game and i think that it deserves a second chance. NMRIH2 is like if L4D was more realisitc and slow, all it takes is 1 bite to end your run so you have to be very careful about how you handle your encounters with zombies. The game is an extraction shooter with perma death so every run feels very tense, and what helps the tension factor even more is the way zombies behave and sound There is multiple zombie types and some of them suddenly start running at…

I wouldn't recommend if your a solo player. game does not let you progress in a solo experience, just spent 1.5hour playing solo, didn't progress, feel like the game is pointless if your friends don't have it and you don't want to play with others. I know i might be the minority but surely not everyone wants to play with random people. If there was solo progression then id happily recommend it.

LONG VERSION: There's no way in hell that you can legitimately recommend this game brother. So there's permadeath but also peer to peer server connection (basically means there are no NMRIH2 dedicated servers and you connect to another player hosting the game). So let's say you just joined a bad host and you got a bit of lag or it's even worst and completely unplayable, well too bad because if you loose connection or quit (alt F4 or kill process trough task manager is the same ofc) you kiss…

Long term NMRIH1 Player here. It’s honestly just sad. I got NMRIH2 for myself, thinking it might be fun like the original, but it was only because of the arcade-like feel, after a couple of weeks, I’ve had it. I uninstalled it because it just doesn’t feel the same. It doesn’t have the lore, the realism, or the grounded tone that made NMRIH1 special, the whole governmental structure with FEMA, the National Guard, the real sense of survival and realism that the original introduced. NMRIH1…

No More Room in Hell 2 has come a long way since launch, and I’ve been playing on and off throughout its development. I can confidently say that the game has improved significantly over time, especially with the 0.9.0 update. It’s hands down the most immersive zombie early access game to me. The skill ceiling is impressive, particularly with mechanics like shove kicks and melee combat, where managing your stamina is crucial for survival. The game also does a great job of incentivizing…

The game is fun, but it gets old fast. It's worth about 100h of playtime if you're into it and play until you're good enough to play comfortably on Nightmare difficulty. Devs definitely took the wrong route with this game. Based on what I know now, I probably wouldn't have bought the game. Modding support is the most crucial thing for a PvE game in 2026+. The market is saturated with new games. No dev can deliver enough new content fast enough. They not only haven't planned modding support,…

Big No More Room in Hell 1 Fan here to this day I miss the ambiance and pacing. This has practically none of that for some reason. shares a lot of mechanics melee and infection wise but none of this stuff is "unique" imop it was the feeling of the previous game, it was actually scary. The game is solid, has its own pace and although can seem a bit clunky and slow, i didn't notice any of the issues discussed by some people here, being hit registration of melee and bugs. Essentially they made a round based zombie game that's too good for market and very few will understand. The game plays by horror movie rules and if you don't slow down and play at the pace that is expected while learning the item economy you aren't going to like this game. But, if you take the time to learn how interacting with the game works you will probably have fun with it more than most zombie games that have come out in the last 10 years. At launch this game was in a really bad state, like terrible, and they really screwed this game by launching it too early. My biggest complaint at launch was how just bad everything felt but the gameplay is very smooth now and feels fairly polished. I cannot recommend this game in its current state. You can lose characters that you have put hours into simply due to a loss of internet connection with seemingly no option to rejoin and try to save your character. You can also spawn in while still loading the game and take free hits from zombies that wander over leading to you starting already halfway dead and infected. I have to tell this by saying, that mostly with an (E)arly (A)ccess title, one should be fully mindful that bugs and problems are to be expected. And that is exactly the issue, one that it feels like, nobody literally comprehends. Wouldn't bother with this game honestly. Already has less players than NMRIH 1 as of 28/03/2026. Lost multiple characters to bugs being trapped in crates for simply vaulting them among other bugs and disconnects leading to having to create a new character only for it to happen again, from what I understand reading forums these bugs have been around for a while. There are better ways to waste your time than this.

Now this is a cautious thumbs up because I think this game has the chance to be special if more content and polish keep coming, especially considering 1.0 is supposedly launching this Summer. If there's one thing this game does right, is the zombie threat: every single one must be treated seriously, since a single graze or bite can lead to infection; every room must be secured not to get cornered; every horde kited around carefully. Add to that the forward momentum maps offer as you complete…

I've only played it a hand full of times so take it with a grain of salt but where is the singleplayer i understand it would be hard but everytime i have played so far it's a group of people who have maxxed characters and speedrun the map like they have got minutes to live, give it at try if you like playing online but if you like playing singleplayer for those extra tense moments i'd find something else

⭐⭐⭐⭐☆ — Would get eaten by zombies again. No More Room in Hell 2 is the perfect game if you’ve ever wondered, “What if Left 4 Dead had less hope, more panic, and teammates who communicate exclusively through screaming?” The zombies are terrifying, the guns feel chunky, and every mission starts with confidence and ends with someone yelling “RUN! RUN! RUN!” while I’m trying to reload. The best part is teamwork. Nothing builds friendship faster than watching your buddy get surrounded by zombies…

It was fun while it lasted.... I've 90+ hours in with 1 character at 100 and 2 in the 90s. All had beacons on Saturday morning until I spawned into the first game only to get disconnected as I got to the supply crate....character was saved but lost the 2000 credit beacon. Didn't have enough credits to buy another beacon so switched player. Spawned in...and it happened again. So 2 players lost beacons due to server disconnect within 5 minutes of logging into the game on Saturday and I haven't…

Please, please redesign your game. Here are your problems. Combat is slow, clunky, inconsistent, and unsatisfying, which is a real problem when engagements are frequently forced and the zombies tend to respawn indefinitely. You can't clear safe zones, and with lower player counts, your pitiful swings will barely scrape by on even casual. The character's timing is lethargic, lacks weight, and seems to suffer incredible inaccuracy. It also doesn't seem to understand when an enemy is downed, or…

I had High Hopes for this game but some updates feels like your getting your hopes up for a good update just to come back and the gameplay feels worse than before? The combat used to feel impactful, now when you hit enemies it feels like hitting them with a balloon animal. If I gotta take the time to overhead make it at least feel worthy, now im spamming light attacks like its chiv. Fix your game before you push the content out. Came back for the newest update 4/14/2026. Its funny this game…
