Nexuiz
Developer IllFonic
Nexuiz is a 2012 first-person shooter video game developed by IllFonic and published by THQ for Microsoft Windows and Xbox 360. It used CryEngine 3 and it is based on the original free game Nexuiz (due to the name having been sold to Nexuiz, the free game continued its development under the Xonotic name). They took an arena FPS that was slightly popular on PC, bought the rights to the name, and then proceeded to strip away everything that made the original game great and create....well this. They used an engine that can't handle the type of fast-paced gameplay that Nexuiz was known for. They came up with a weird mutator power up system that should have just been a special game mode, and then made that a core game mechanic. The netcode is just bad, so the…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This arena shooter is so much fun and looks delicious. Sadly the developers dropped support for it and it wasn't playable online for a long time. Now the game got re-released in the Steam Store and the player base is gone. Seriously, either no soul is online or the servers are not reachable. I sadly can't recommend this game, because the developers are obviously not capable of maintaining it properly. I'd like more people to own this, so the player base grows, but first there should be…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game is dead. The servers were taken offline in February 2013 due to the closure of THQ. Download Xonotic for free instead (it's a fork of the original): https://xonotic.org/ The original Nexuiz was developed by Alientrap and came out in 2005. It ran on the DarkPlaces engine, a modified Quake engine. It was released as free software under the GNU GPL and was available for Linux, FreeBSD, macOS, and Windows. In March 2010, the name "Nexuiz" was licensed to IllFonic for commercial use.…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Fast paced quake-style game with interesting elements. Cry engine 3. Gorgeus graphics. Great soundtrack. Fluid. Competitive. Varied power-ups. Potential.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Sadly, the game doesn't even run.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's a gorgeous game, with amazing, fast-paced gameplay, but... The devs abandoned the game, and all the players left with them. It's just a ghost town now.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Amazing game, really faced fast arena shooter in similar vein of unreal/quake with sci-fi setting and varied levels. The game looks good and the audio is crisp and clean, the mutators are a integral part of the game and makes the game so much fun, you chose from 3 different random options and there are plenty of those to keep it random and fun at the same time. This game was relaunched after a long time due to the old publishers (THQ) shutting down the servers as they went bankript which is a…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Quake on steroids basicly. CryEngine 3 does a great job an makes Nexuiz a fast-paced shooter experience. Buy it and play it with friends - let the LAN party concept be born again!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Simply do not buy this game.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →If you love fast paced first person shooters then look no further! This game has been released once more and I am happy it can finally be played by people who may have missed it the first time round. It plays a lot like UT and Quake but has its own unique style and it looks beautiful when maxed out, the way Cryengine 3 is meant to be used. Hopefully the online community comes back to this as it desperatley misses it. I also highly recommend Duel Mode with a friend, 1v1, Instagib with the…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I used to play Nexuiz classic all the time, and remember packed servers and fast paced UT-like action, was excited to see the re-release on steam. After almost a week of logging in and searching here and there i STILL havent found a single multiplayer game to join, and the bots are just boring. I even sat in an empty server for 3 hours waiting for someone to join but it never happened, without players there's no real point in picking this up. Aside from that there are some other issues too,…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →DO NOT BUY. GAME IS UNSUPPORTED. SERVERS ARE SHUT DOWN. VALVE SHOULD NOT BE ALLOWING THIS GAME TO BE SOLD.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The online game , team deathmatch and capture the flag stuff, where in the servers are now deceased for a long long time ago, and to add more into it, you need to actually pay for the game , making it one of a collection kind of game,.....Let's add more spoilers to our extremely critical review... Your game will crash the moment the you open it because it seems like the the game originally was designed to function only when the game servers were up and running.....So, it literally turns out to…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It WAS a great game, developers completly stopped supporting it and now its just absolutely dead... I did love how the game worked though, good difficulty bots in bot training, a great sound track, good quality however it gets boring when the game is a ghost town
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I would have recommended this game 4 years ago, it was great... But now... a big NO If you buy this game, 3 games will be added on your steam library : Nexuiz : It doesn't work because the game is trying to connect to a server, the server doesn't exist anymore, so there's an endless loop on the main menu, the game freezes, no button works, Ctrl + Alt + Del to close the game (and sometimes this also doesn't work). https://steamcommunity.com/app/96800/discussions/5/1488866180610827866/ (last…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →>"the server is experiencing an unusually heavy load" >dead game Yeah, sure, okay.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Nexuiz is no longer playable. While in it's 15 minutes of fame is was a decent and basic Arena FPS similar to Quake Arena, It is now plagued with menu bugs, consistant freezing and Server issues that make this game unplayable.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →go away, we got trolled here
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A fantastic arena style FPS - a variety of levels, weapons, low gravity modes - really resembles the new Doom (2016). Can use Directx9 or Directx11, and the levels are graphically superior to most first person shooters. It's frantic and fast so be prepaired to think on your toes. There are hardly no hiding spots in these levels. Highly suggested and cheap.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Dead AF steer clear
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Unfortunately no longer works, even offline/solo. Should really be removed from sale. The game has been abandoned by both players and developers and has been left in an unplayable state.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A few friends and I were part of the Beta for Nexuiz and we truly enjoyed it. We played the original Nexuiz (Nexuiz Classic, still amazing) and really loved the mutators, the level design, and the fast-paced arena action (grappling hooks were freaking COOL). Once the sequal/reinvisionment went live on Steam we bought copies for all of our other friends and played the hell out of it... until THQ went under and the servers disappeared. With no LAN option the game was a total waste of HDD space.…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →well i had it a while ago... and it was very fun... We could get people intrested again!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Don't bother with this game. This is not an arena FPS. Poor maps, poor weapons, poor optimization, unbalanced gameplay with over 100 random mutators etc. It's a mess more suited for people who like ROTT 2013 multiplayer. If you truly like Unreal Tournament and Quake, stay the ♥♥♥♥ away from this and instead check out [URL=http://store.steampowered.com/app/324810/]Toxikk and [url=http://store.steampowered.com/app/328070/]Reflex respectively. There are much better AFPS games out there. Check…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is a VERY good game. As much as I loved to play it on the Xbox 360, it pains me to say that buying this game now is a terrible mistake. The game is abandonware, as the master server is no longer functional. The only way you can get this game to work with bots is to block all connections from the firewall. You can play with bots- but that just isn't as fun.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →An okay remake of a good game... Shame it's dead - play Xonotic instead.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Unfortunately doesn't appear to work anymore, at least for me. Even the menus are incredibly unresponsive. Too bad, as this was quite the fun game.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →In my ongoing and likely futile effort to write a Steam review for every game in my library (#410 out of 612)... it's time for Nexuiz. Now here's another game I discovered in my library with zero knowledge of how it got there in the first place. Everything about the game was a total mystery to me: unfortunately, it still is. Once the main menu loads up, after a very uninteresting opening cinematic, the game freezes. The mouse cursor won't move, the keyboard does nothing, and I'm forced to to a…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Why the hell does this game freeze every 5 seconds?
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Whatever you do, do not buy this game. The multiplayer is dead, when it even works, and the game itself is... terrible.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →unplayable do not buy
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Completely dead game. Average amount of players last 30 days according to Steamcharts: 0.0.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game is dead, never completed, nearly unplayable because the servers are down and required to access the content offline, and should not still be on the store.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Unplayable, can't connect to servers or even a bot game. It freezed when I loaded in and when I tried again, it crashed during the loading screen. I had to restart my computer cause the game wouldn't close. The game would freeze for 10 seconds at a time in the menus. So trying to even change settings was a hassle. I really wanted to try this game out now that I have a good computer. Not worth buying.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I made such a mistake buying this game
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →No more multiplayer. AVOID.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game is basically a ♥♥♥♥♥♥ Unreal Tournament with even fewer people playing it. I bought it for like a dollar and I still feel ripped off.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →As a fan of Unreal Tournament and Arena Shooters in general, Nexuiz was a game I had high hopes for. Comparing it to Unreal Tournament may not be fair but obviously it never got to that level and the few players stopped playing. Nowadays I'm pretty sure you can't play online and trying to play against bots also crashed the game. Even though I do not think anyone would buy this game, Nexuiz still should be delisted.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Bad like everyone says. So unoptimized- barely works nowadays and then has the nerve to run like ass. Should be unlisted. I only got it cause I've become obsessed with arena FPS and I had to experience this infamous piece of software. Feels gross.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Dead and gone, I don't remember having fun during its prime either.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →good but nobody plays
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Got this game a long time ago, and it didn't even work then. Constant freezing and kicking me out of the game. It seemed like it could have been a fun fast-paced shooter, but I never really got to play it. I can't even imagine what kind of dumpster fire it is now with what I'm assuming is 0 technical support from the developers.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I wouldn't trust the devs.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I feel scammed out of precious gaming money when I barely had gaming money.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →this game is poonami and i want my money back
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is the single worst arena shooter ive ever played the game is so badly optimised that it is constantly juddering, there are no servers for the game. the art style is terrible and they have out right stollen map designs from mario kart i mean seriously mario kart
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →this game no workey something wrong with it it brokey. i take back my mouneey. im crine son ts frying me 😂😂😂😭😭😭
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →nex-to-unplayable. the servers for this game shut down years back so without a firewall rule it doesn't really boot up.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Load of fun high speed shooter.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's broken and forgotten. Was and is still fun.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I have mixed feelings about this game, especially at it's current state. It's straight up Abandonware, and it's been that way since Steam put it back up on the Store in 2016. It kinda sucks that the game went down like it did because it looked like it had a lot of potential to have a massive playerbase and community, only for THQ to defunct and take Nexuiz with them. If you were to look in the reviews, workshop, community, and discussions, you can see a huge gap between all the positive reviews…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Actually not a bad game. It's basically a slightly modernized version of UT deathmatch. For 10$, it's okay. Why negative? - Since a long time, this game is abandoned by its devs. - No ones plays it anymore, which is devastating to a multiplayer-only game (included bot match is only fun for max. 1-2h). - Not sure if it's a issue on my side or due the suspended dev support, but it seems to not run (freezes all the time) on modern machines (mid-class PC with Win10) Don't buy a long dead game…

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →good shooter, runs great on my potato inspiron 530 with an sapphire 6570 ddr3 1gb
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game. Where to start? Well I guess first off is to say, honestly this game isn't bad, it's just dead now. In a nutshell Nexuiz is a Unreal Tournament clone, and in and of itself it does the job well enough. At the time this was released, I do believe the gaming industry was in an arena shooter desert where they were far and few between, so we needed this game. However, it never picked up any real momentum due to not having enough marketing, and, well, Cryengine. Cryengine looks pretty,…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →They took a great game and made it worse in every possible way except graphical fidelity.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Nexuiz can't decide if it wants to be a hardcore strafe-rocket-jumping arena FPS, or a more casual version of Quake; this leaves the playebase alienated. I paid $2.50 for this game and I feel like I wasted my money. 2/5
