What people are saying
Mixed: some love the vibe, others call it a shallow asset flip.
Many players praise the game's synthwave aesthetic and relaxing atmosphere, calling it a perfect way to unwind. They highlight the ability to use custom music and the stylish visuals as major draws. [3][6][11][25]
However, critics argue the gameplay is repetitive and shallow, consisting only of moving left and right to collect blocks. Some also allege it is an asset flip, using marketplace assets without original development. [27][28][33][36]

The "developer" paid for/pirated a few Unreal Marketplace packs, dumped them all in a blender, and submitted it to Valve as if they're real game developers. Two notable criteria for what makes an asset flip instead of legitimate use of stock assets are whether those assets comprise the majority of the game, and whether the "developer" properly…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game is awful. You press left and right to collect glowing blocks to get money to unlock more levels and cars. That’s it that’s the game, two buttons. You’re led to believe it’s a rhythm and driving game but it’s neither. Your car engine doesn’t make a sound which is whack. The game feels sluggish. It’s not fun. On top of that it barely runs on steam deck which is absurd for such a simple game. Do not buy this game it’s garbage
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's hardly a game. Drive and pick up blocks. Rinse repeat. When you have done the first level enough times to buy a car or new track. It's the same game. Should be free. Can't believe they have the nerve to charge for this. Even a 1 dollar, which I don't care about, it's still not even worth that. Out of my almost 500 games, this is the first time I've bought a "game," which doesn't deserve to be called a game. Avoid. It's just pathetic.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →As in my previous review for Synthwave Burnout, full respect to the devs for at least trying to make a synthwave game... because I know it ain't easy. But the more I play the games by Whale Rock Games, the more I feel like I got my cash grabbed. Almost all of the assets are the typical ones you can find on sketchfab or the unreal marketplace, and none of the game feels super original. Plus, the gameplay is very generic and while the game has more purpose than Synthwave Burnout (which had…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Got it as a part of "Fly and Drive Bundle"(cost me $2). Its a nothing game for a nothing price. I expected nothing from it yet somehow my expectations turned out to be too high. There is NO rhythm. bonuses/obstacles do not match the music, at all. If you want to relax listening synthwawe while playing a simple left-right scroller with retro aesthetics - there are games that do it better.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I purchased this game as part of a developer bundle. It took me five minutes to find out that it absolutely is not worth the full price tag. If you see this, be warned. It's most certainly not as advertised. No acceleration. No deceleration. No turns. Rail driving. No actual racing. Just collect over saturated bricks and hope you don't suffer an epileptic seizure.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is a relaxing rhythm runner with a neon synthwave aesthetic, where you can enjoy a dynamic ride. The game offers 6 locations and 6 cars, and the gameplay involves collecting beats and dodging obstacles on an endless highway.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →dont like it, literally press A & D and thats all
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Gameplay feels repetitive, boring, and a bit sluggish; can't recommend.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I bought this game for my niece as a birthday present. I started the game and went to the other room but after a while i heard an explosion and police sirens outside. Turns out i left my car keys on the desk.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →visuals are ok i guess but the gameplay is brain dead. u just move left and right. the beats dont even match the music properly?? feels like a mobile game ad.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A real dive into the 80s! When you're speeding down a neon track to synthwave music, it's like you're in an iconic sci-fi movie
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's slow and not a race, and you'll get tired of collecting points. The only thing you can do is listen to music. There are no achievements
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Repetitive and shallow. The core loop gets boring fast. The synthwave aesthetic can't save the lack of engaging gameplay.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →boring driving racer beats gets so same old retro style fails totaly
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A dynamic driving simulator in which we have to drive a car to rhythmic musical compositions in cyberpunk style. Our main task is to accurately get to the beat with the music, collecting musical beats scattered around the track. The more accurately we follow the rhythm of the music, collecting beats, the higher our game result will be. Colorful game tracks and several cars with different characteristics will add dynamism to our driving, and bright graphics will immerse us in the world of neon…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Terrible game legit never play this or get it, its just a worthless asset flip game. infact all of the devs games are, worst of all they sell their steam keys to grey market sites and said sites resell them under the guise of "random games" when most of if not all of them are in fact literally just this developers games
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Recipe for a good mood: -3d rhythm racing game -synthwave style -good music The atmosphere is created fabulous. This game is must-have to play.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Got redundant fast. Hard to imagine paying full price. I think it was in a bundle for a dollar or two usd. There does not seem to be any different pattern based on the song. Sorry just not enough here to recommend
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I wanted to vibe, not to suffer. The "rhythm" part is a lie. The orbs just spawn randomly, it has nothing to do with the beat. total immersion breaker. 2/10.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →What a piece of crap.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is a minimally interactive flashgame, where you can press A and D to change lanes. You can't steer. Only positive is the visuals. Don't buy this.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →a relaxing game with a wonderful soundtrack. after playing quite a bit, I immediately set my wallpaper through the wallpaper of these cars. some people just like riding with obstacles, others don't like it and they just want a sandbox. I want to say that in any form, this is a very cool idea, with its excellent graphics and relaxing atmosphere
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This isn't just a game; it's the best interactive synthwave visualizer. The sounds are spot-on and utterly immersive.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →NeverSynth, developed and published by Whale Rock Games, is a visually entrancing rhythm-arcade game that transports players into the heart of a synthwave dream. It offers a simple premise executed with striking artistic flair: you drive endlessly through neon-lit highways while collecting beat markers synced to the background music. The game merges retro aesthetics with music-driven gameplay in a way that feels meditative, energetic, and intensely atmospheric all at once. It’s not trying to be…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I personally didn't know... It was possible to have a game this bad ngl. Excuse me for the break down here, but: The quality is ♥♥♥♥, at the back of the sides, you see the side walls clip with the back cg... Every time one of those light poles spawn in, or get close to you... the quality tends to suffer a bit, that or lag slightly... I'm on a gaming laptop... Games like subnautica run like a charm, so I don't know why this doesn't. Each pick up is 20 coin... so depending on the song that you…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I think all the reviews for this game are Ai generated, as the game itself... Cash grab Ai generated game. It is a huge 0. The same blocks are coming, with no sync to the sound at all.... Why Steam?? Why are you let thes things even happen is the store... Its a SCAM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →"Never Synth" is a third-person game that serves as a rhythm-based driving simulator. This game is a dynamic action-packed experience where you get to control a car to the beat of the music and collect beats. The more beats you collect, the more in-game points you earn. I must say, "Never Synth" provides a unique and refreshing gameplay style. The combination of driving mechanics and rhythm-based gameplay is quite exhilarating. The controls are smooth and responsive, allowing for precise…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →God, this is a game worse than the 8-bit 80-90 games. it's just terrible, don't take such a slag. It's not worth the money.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Apparently this game doesn't even try to sync the notes on the track with your custom music. Audiosurf was able to do that in 2008 so there's no excuse. I can't recommend the game if you intend to use your own music.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Neon race with neon music, you need to dodge obstacles and collect money. You can unlock new cars and tracks with them.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →NeverSynth delivers a stylish retrowave experience by combining rhythm-based gameplay with high-speed driving across neon-soaked highways and vibrant synthwave landscapes. The ability to use your own music, unlock new cars, and chase beats to the soundtrack makes it a fun and immersive ride for fans of arcade racers and electronic music.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →We’re driving around and chilling, there are no issues with the game, and you can upload your own tracks and change the car.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Довольно затягивающая игра, которая привлекает своей необычной графикой и атмосферой. После тяжелого дня самое то расслабитьс)
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Not impressed. Graphics are dull, controls feel wonky, and bugs pop up constantly. Price doesn’t justify the experience.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Game is literally just you moving left and right
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Well, it's a super boring game, nothing cool, even the desktop wallpaper is cooler.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Looks promising but ends up feeling repetitive and dull.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The idea behind NeverSynth sounds good — driving to the music and catching the rhythm — but in practice it feels very raw. The gameplay is extremely repetitive: you just drive down a straight road, collect beats, and after 10–15 minutes you realize the game has nothing new to offer. The rhythm system feels inaccurate — hits often don’t register properly, and sometimes it feels like the game itself isn’t sure whether you hit the beat or not. Car controls are stiff, the sense of speed is weak,…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Purely aesthetic game. Perfect high experience. We tried to make it play all star and it crashed.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Cool game with cool music and graphics. I recommend it to anyone who just wants to relax.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I bought this game on sale for 84 cents. It has a very retro feel to it. You collect money while moving right or left down 4 lanes on a very retro looking road while dodging barricades and listening to synthwave music. Eventually when the song ends the level is over, and you get to keep the money you leave the level with. You can use money to buy new cars or new levels. The new cars can maneuver better, and the new tracks are just as retro in design as the first. This game might be a little…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A good game for relaxation when you need to think about something important just driving forward
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Well, it's typical of this developer. Which is to say, it's a very, very low-effort "game" which is inexplicably reviewed very well. I regret having spent any money on this company.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Utter trash, you get ten dollars per pick up, and the cost of items is in the hundreds of thousands. It would be fine if it was free, but it isn't, so it's deplorable
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Moreover, the developers deserve applause for their commitment to player engagement. Regular updates and new content additions keep the experience fresh and ensure that players always have something to look forward to.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →There's no game, avoid
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Really stylish neon arcade racer with killer music. Perfect game to just sit back, relax, and cruise to the great synthwave beats!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The entire gameplay, at least for the first map, was switching between 4 lanes with your car, and having to drive into the small pellets and avoid the large poles. The levels last as long as the music you give them, and the beats don't even try to sync to the music. Also, I have a gut feeling that the 992 "mostly positive" reviews are fake. There's nothing good about this game. 0/10 game.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →NeverSynth is an awesome game—really beautiful, fun, and with interesting, engaging gameplay. It’s a dynamic, stunning game that’s absolutely fire. I recommend it to everyone—good luck and all that!

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Pure synth magic! Awesome retro beats and neon visuals.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Dynamic rhythm simulator: drive along the highway, catch beats, download your playlist. Retro atmosphere and cool cars are pleasing!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's not expensive, but man, does it look gorgeous. A retrowave rhythm game with style.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Cool racing game, there is a good variety of cars, and honestly, you don't really need anything else
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →There is something insiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiide youuuuuuuuuuuuu. Да не умер он в конце фильма Драйв!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →NeverSynth is a blast! The synth‑wave vibes and fast‑paced action go together perfectly — I got totally hooked from the first level. The visuals pop, the soundtrack slaps, and the mechanics feel tight and satisfying. A great pick if you love retro‑futuristic games with a killer beat! 😎
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →"A 15-minute game." It's extremely primitive and gets boring very quickly.
