I’d love to celebrate this. #Gamedev pals- can you recommend any streamers/podcasters (esp narrative games focused) who might want to host a behind-the-scenes “let’s play” / interview with me? Shares appreciated!

It simply dictates what you can or cannot say based on your "feeling" at the moment. Furthermore, it's quite unintuitive. Simply put, this game has potential, but the stupid mechanism ruins it. Oh and sometimes text just scroll past, making me completely lost the content I was reading. This is a disappointment!

You drive a taxi in a new town you have decided to move to with your best friend, and you get to experience the conversations with different passengers. However, I did not enjoy it. The characters are mostly unlikable, the game keeps forcing you in one direction and never seems to offer the option to respond the way you’d like. It also feels a bit too preachy. Works without issues on Linux with Proton (9.0-4).
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I 100% the game, which can be done in 5 to 10 hours. If any game ever deserved a mixed review, it was this one. There are some interesting side characters and stories, but overall nothing worth talking about. First off, achievements only trigger upon exiting the game, meaning you will have a ton of them with the same timestamps, which just sucks. At least they are all fairly easy to obtain and there is a very good auto-save system, so you can continue from pretty much any point in the game…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's fine I guess. As long as you ignore the minor bugs and that the game is trying to push certain political views. It would nice if the characters were voiced as well.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →5/10 main charter just got back into a toxic relationship with her friend she hasn't seen or talked to in over a year story is all over the place pick reply A. B. or C. pick C...you cant do that ok?? im will pick A...you cant do that..... ok i guess i pick B as its my only choice.... this happens a lot, you get locked into a conversation path with no way of changing. but i dont want to tell this person to ♥♥♥♥ off.... can i not???? no... im already angry soo its my only choice

I still think about the amazing music, cozy laidback story, it isn't just a game it's honestly a feeling. It's a feeling I return to. I can't seem to shake it. Please please make a Neo Cab 2!!!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I had a pretty good time with Neo Cab overall. You play as Lina who works as a cap driver and the moment to moment gameplay is simple but engaging. You pick up passengers, talk to them, charge your vehicle, find a place to sleep, and in between all of that you try to figure out what happened to your friend. The daily routine gives the game a steady rhythm that makes the city feel active even if the mechanics are not very deep. The art style is genuinely nice. The colors and animations…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I started playing Neo Cab for 15 minutes and immediately turned it off. The game actively prevents you from choosing the dialogue options you actually want to pick, and that’s apparently “by design.” The concept: you play as a stressed-out taxi driver in a dystopian future, and your stress level locks certain responses so you can only react in annoyed, passive, or aggressive ways. The developers want you to feel a loss of control to simulate economic pressure. But here’s the problem:…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is just a visual novel about a gig economy driver in a dystopian cyberpunk setting. I didn't think I would like it but I did. There's just this slice of humanity that is pretty good, and it gives just enough amount of choices and resource management that works for its very brief runtime. Recommended.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's an interesting idea, but within the first 5 minutes I had lost control of my character and was no longer allowed to make any choices. The choices were there, but I was told off for trying to pick them. Irritatingly, this seems to only affect choices which are different - most of the time it feels like you're picking from different ways of saying the same thing. Visual Novels already have very limited interaction opportunities, so it takes a brave game dev to double down on that and…

unlabelledView post →Why even make "choices" in the game, if you force the player into a single line? No matter the choice you make, you always end at a single point, just with more or less drive money. Very dull. 2/10
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I still feel the need to go back to this game and to try out different things, to play it again, to make different decisions and see what would happen. There is something about this game, and I am not sure what it is, but it makes me more interested than I feel like I should be? I don't know its weird, a good weird though. You really don't get the full story just playing it once, and it took me round 4 hours for a play through. Don't get me wrong, this is not a perfect game, it annoyed me a…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Is this… a cyberpunk game… that’s actually a meaningful critique?!?! I thought that was i l l e ga l Neo Cab is exactly what this genre is supposed to be — a critique of technocapitalism, a roadmap for resistance, and an examination of the way power structures are recursive, playing out in individual relationships in the same way they play out in institutions. What it isn’t is a detective game, at least not exactly — you can pursue the disappearance of the protagonist, Lina’s, friend Savy,…

What was it, something you ate?" Princess Fiona: "No! It's me... in this body." Donkey: (Gasps) "Oh, my God, you ate the princess!" This game reminded me about this dialogue. There is a princess. Somewhere inside. Although it looks like an ogre. Smells like an ogre. And farts like an ogre. And that is not a good view or smell The concept of this…

Positives The journal was done in a very creative fashion, where the main character reinterprets main beats and draws essentially a comic. Story line selection was nicely integrated in a mechanic that makes sense in universe. Neutral Art style, graphical fidelity and music are all aggressively mediocre. The emotion tracking gizmos…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Neo Cab is a stylish, emotional game where the mood ring mechanic controls your choices, affecting passenger interactions and endings. P.S.: Although the game’s system requirements are low, it has no built-in FPS limiter, so I recommend setting a frame rate cap through your NVIDIA Control Panel or AMD Software . 🎚️ Difficulty 🔲 My grandma could play it 🔲 Easy ☑️ Normal 🔲 Hard 🔲 A challenge to be reckoned 🔲 In the heat of confrontation, (Only PVP games) 🗺️ Graphics 🔲…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This was just not very enjoyable. We hate big corps but we are going to keep wearing a bracelet that tracks our moods etc? That's like wearing a fitbit and being against google. It makes no sense!
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Neo Cab is one of the cyberpunk games I still find myself drawn to. It's a queer anti-enshittification resource management visual novel that tackles with the theme of breaking free from toxic relationships. The soundtrack is so chill it lulls me into a trance.
unlabelledView post →whats the point of having choices if half the time you cant even pick them because of some emotional state
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The idea for gameplay is good and the graphics are very good as well. It tried to do something unique and that has a lot of merit. But it was not really an enjoyable game. First I hated the fact that the game does not allow you to choose most dialogues. It also does not make any sense; it feels like it was written by somebody who has barely worked. Often the game forces you to be very rude with your passengers. Who in their right mind would be that rude to a paying customer? Very unrealistic.…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The negatives, there are some light spoilers: - The story starts with a genuinely interesting premise, but it quickly falls into every cyberpunk cliché imaginable. Evil corporations, corrupt systems, rebellion against technology... none of it feels particularly fresh and that's very disappointing. - Your dialogue choices barely matter. The game gives the illusion of choice, but most decisions only slightly alter the route you take or tweak the epilogue. No matter what, the story keeps dragging…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I finished Neo Cab in about 2.4 hours, unlocking 7 out of 18 trophies, which honestly feels pretty decent given how short the experience is. Overall, I liked the game, but it also has one major flaw that really held it back for me. The biggest issue, by far, is the lack of voice acting. The entire experience is text-based, and while I usually enjoy narrative-heavy games, here it becomes exhausting. There is a lot of reading, sometimes too much, and it really breaks immersion. There were…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Got it in a Humble Bundle. Wish there was a "meh" rating on Steam, but on balance, there was more good than bad. I loved the visuals and the music. The characters all look disctinct, and the lights of Los Ojos lighting the interior of your NeoCab make the simple scenes (with minimal animation and no audio dialogue) feel more alive and "in the world". Individual conversations with paxes were fun. Not spectacular, but interesting enough for me to want to follow through with their storylines. Some…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →First visual novel game, definitely not the last, and I did like the build up somewhat, but the agenda pushing as a narrative at times was a little off-putting for me. Not a bad story though if you can look pass some of the self-righteous characters, and dialogues.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →4.5/10 emotion system in the game that once your player gets x amount of said emotion they cant use some dialogue options. feels like im forced to pick 1 or 2 of 4 options quite often doesnt take into account the fact you could just strait up lie to people so they give you 5 stars reviews. what ever you choose it feels like thats your opinion going forward and other story choices are locked
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →For a dialogue game, the dialogue options are very limited. At some point I had three or more options, but only one was available for chosing. Why bother, then? It'd be better if it was a cutscene, more honest. I probably should go back and try to get to different endings, but I disliked the characters so much I don't really want to bother.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Robocapitalism has won Neo Cab is one of those games where the vibes alone could carry it. Los Ojos is a beautiful, cozy, neon nightmare: a city of automated cars, a corporation slowly replacing everyone with machines, and you playing Lina, one of the last real cab drivers still stuck doing the emotional labour that AI apparently cannot replicate yet.... And the emotional labour is basically the whole game. You drive Pax around, listen to their problems, try not to upset them too much, and…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Hmmmm. Ok, this here's yet another game that would have benefited from a Meh option between Yes and No... This was, ok... I guess? A near future setting that's edging towards cyberpunk-ish dystopia but still far from it seen through the lens of a cab driver. Side Note here - But Lina is definitely NOT "the last human cab driver" as purported by the summary. Neo Cab clearly is an existing organization, she just moved to LO does that mean now this is the only city that NC provide services in?…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Didn't enjoy the main character's personality, which only made the fact that your choices are locked much worse.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A complete douchebag simulator. Seriously, the only decent person is, ironically, the ex-convict. Everybody else is super annyoing, passive aggressive, delusional, or super manipulative, and the protagonist is a complete lose (emotional) cannon herself. The most annoying thing is how inconsistent the game is in giving you options to control any situation. Like, sometimes you can really give them a piece of your mind while otherwise you have to listen to the most long winded insulting nonsense…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I expected it to be horrible and it still wound up to be far below my expectations this is trash like, actual trash as someone who grew up in LA this is like talking to the average demoralized yuppie here, as a game it's a form of psychological torture that you cannot wait to be free from, from the second you click "new game". do yourself a favor and don't even try it.

unlabelledView post →Looking at some of the promotional materials, I had thought you might have a few driving segments but the game's sole focus is on its narrative. This is fine, but I very quickly realize even the narrative is not going to click with me. Right off the back on day one drive, I ran into a moment where I feel like I'm completely detached from the character emotionally, and I was forced into picking a different dialogue option that I wasn't intending to pick simply because the main character…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Neo Cab is an interesting visual novel set in a world becoming increasingly automated, with the player playing as Lina, one of few real humans still working as a cab driver. The NPC's you meet along the way are all interesting, and engaging to talk to, however very few have any plot significance and the game was over too quickly for me to become attached to more than two or three of them. Of these NPC's I believe I only reached the conclusion of one of their (optional) story lines, and I…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A very short, but very good game. I didn't enjoy not always having full control of my "choices", but the varying ways to tackle each situation and the different outcomes always driving me (no pun intended) towards wanting to know more about the characters, world, and plot made this a game I will happily place in my "will recommend" pile.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game tries to teach you with every piece of dialogue from the perspective of a leftist extremist who believes he is superior and morally above others. The main character is emotionally unstable and has a dependent personality. The main character's best friend isn't a true friend at all; she exploits this dependency and otherwise hardly cares about the main character. Life in the leftist bubble is shown precisely - borderliners and narcissists take advantage of the weak and seek to…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game is a good game, but nothing that blows my mind. I really wanted to like it, it seemed right up my alley. But the lack of choices, the main conflict of the game, and the weak ending just made it a solid okay. Even though this game gives the illusion of choice for dialogue choices, it's not really full of choices. You are limited. You pretty much have a path and you follow it down the line. I wish there was more to this game. It has such potential, but overall, it wasn't a complete…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →some interesting tech and good points on surveillance and corporate overreach but there's not much depth there. and the story is very linear though it tries to hide it behind the variety of dialog choices. also the city is so empty, which some would probably justify by "it's night, what did you expect?" but it just feels liveless. overall a very "meh, whatever" experience
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The good points: some very topical themes such as surveillance, consumerism, false friends and corporate overreach. Also, some very lines of dialogue. The bad points: almost no nuance or self-reflection at all. The good guys are the activists, grassroots, diverse. The bad guys are capitalists, corpos, very samey. Compare with Disco Elysium - the devs of that game also wear their politics on their sleeve but they are not afraid to examine their own ideology's failings and context and do the…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I like a lot of things here but feel simultaneously as if I missed out on a bunch of things (characters I never spoke to) and like the game aggressively pushed me in specific directions. I kind of want to play again to try out more things and meet more characters, but then I'll have to click through really long required dialogue trees so idk.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Fails its own premise where it presents sim about choice and connection, but its rigid narrative and lack of accessibility options force you own a frustratingly linear track. Meaningul ful choice is an illusion leaving you a passenger in your own cab.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I wish i could dump my so called bestie. And another thing is giving drivers 3 stars because they are not a therapist is total nonsense but game is overall enjoyable.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I like the idea of this game but once I got near the end I was pretty much locked into a narrative that didn't even go along with things I'd picked earlier because of the emotions so it felt super disappointing that I couldn't follow through with the choices I wanted. Vibe basically did a full 180 because I couldn't pick certain options. Nothing like my character being completely outraged with another character's actions and saying so, but being forced to just be okay with it and shrug it off…

You become limited by decisions and cannot really play the way you want even when there are options. they are just blocked. You simply cannot develop the character in your way.

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →There is a mood system in this game as a sort of unique mechanic. It could have been something big, but instead, it just influences some dialogues you have with your passengers. Not too much, just some. But what broke the 'immersion' or puzzle aspect of the mood system for me was not only the applications, but also how you influence your mood. You have 3 passengers per night, making 5-7$ per ride. There are some dialogues that make you end up with some more cash, sure. There are some ways…
