Jeremy Peeples from Hardcore Gamer gave the game a 6/10, praising the soundtracks but had a mixed opinion about the graphics as he described it "a perplexing blend of impressive and sub-par". The original MX vs ATV games had way better physics than this does. The engine sounds are horrendous. It's simply the most unrealistic supercross based game I have ever played. I have tried many times to get into it and play it, but I just can't. The customization is very weak as well. Always choose Supercross and MXGP games over anything MX vs ATV.

The biggest weakness is a lack of identity in the normal track/world list. The outdoors maps really aren’t much. I must say that the presentation of the rider in first person completely redeems this game. It’s incredible. I haven’t played a game that feels better in first person.
