Mr. Deeds
When Longfellow Deeds, a small-town pizzeria owner and poet, inherits $40 billion from his deceased uncle, he quickly begins rolling in a different kind of dough. Moving to the big city, Deeds finds himself besieged by opportunists all gunning for their piece of the pie. Babe, a television tabloid reporter, poses as an innocent small-town girl to do an exposé on Deeds. From TMDB

(And, yes, I absolutely loved “Deeds” when I was a teenager and think “pixilated” needs to make a comeback.)

unlabelledView post →(Mr. Deeds Goes to Town was the Established Classic Capra I hadn't seen before this watch-through, and honestly, it's a movie about how getting a financial windfall might prove annoying if you just wanted to hang out in your small town and compose doggerel and play your tuba.)

unlabelledView post →One movie a day for 365 days. 110/365: Mr Deeds Goes to Town. It's the first and the best Capra did on the little men, the John Does who try to change the world with their naivete, sense of justice, rustic charm and deep individuality. Coop is to die for. Arthur is pixilated too.
unlabelledView post →Frank Capra's 91-year-old film Mr. Deeds Goes to Town is about greedy dickheads trying to criminalize kindness and individuality kinda like the sociopaths in power right now.
unlabelledView post →Okay but why is 'Mr. Deeds" so good? Like Sandler has always had a major hit/miss ratio, and while he has several more iconic films, I'd argue 'Mr. Deeds' is his BEST film. Its so wholesome and good.
unlabelledView post →Quote this with a performance that stole a film: John Turturro in Mr. Deeds
unlabelledView post →It should also be noted that the original's box office taking was a bit more impressive considering the competition. On its first weekend, it was the second highest grossing film right under the Steven Spielberg film, Minority Report and fell to third against the Sandler comedy Mr. Deeds.

Screenplay by the great Robert Riskin. Recommended.🎥

Her comedic timing is on point and she had a warm onscreen rapport with Sandler. What can I say? I’m a big MR. DEEDS fan 🤩

I support it. I don't shoplift only because if I get in any trouble with the law Willow will be deported.
