Monsters, Inc.
Directed by Pete Docter
Lovable Sulley and his wisecracking sidekick Mike Wazowski are the top scare team at Monsters, Inc., the scream-processing factory in Monstropolis. When a little girl named Boo wanders into their world, it's the monsters who are scared silly, and it's up to Sulley and Mike to keep her out of sight and get her back home. From TMDB

On its first day of release, Monsters, Inc. earned $17.8 million, then generated $26.9 million the following day, making the latter the second-highest Saturday gross of all time, behind The Mummy Returns. It ranked number one at the box office upon opening, beating out K-PAX, Thirteen Ghosts, Domestic Disturbance, and The One. Monsters, Inc. set the record for having the biggest opening weekend of an animated film, making $62.6 million and surpassing the previous record held by Toy Story 2. 60 of 194 · most liked firstDid ya'll know Monsters Inc is my favorite Pixar movie? :D Ever since first seeing it in theaters back in December 2001! Here's a little pic of Sulley(my fav!), Mike, and Randall! Been wanting to draw these guys again, I do draw sulley every so often but haven't drawn the others since I was young!
positive · AI labelView post →If a recent Pixar film is written/directed by a braintrust Boi it does have that angey peepaw vibe. Early Pixar films like Bugs Life/Monsters Inc are about changing old systems with new ideas. Newer films like Cars 3/Monsters Inc 2 are about how the system works fine respect your fucking elders.

neutral · AI labelView post →Monsters Inc is the best Pixar film and the main plot doesn't even start until like 20 minutes in. The first quarter of the movie is essentially just slice of life but with monsters

neutral · AI labelView post →Monsters Inc is a kinda fucked up movie when you realized the company got shutdown for what was essentially a child exploitation scandal 💀
negative · AI labelView post →rewatched “Monsters, Inc.” with the kid and it’s a great movie but there’s a scene where a toddler just falls asleep instantly in a bed and I’ve never been angrier in my life
neutral · AI labelView post →I love this tweet cause by their logic it applies to every movie that came out that year. Your kids will not appreciate Monsters Inc. They will not find Shrek charming.
neutral · AI labelView post →Here's some concept art of Randall from Monsters Inc drawn by Nico Marlet. I just adore Marlet's art style and it's interesting to see his sketches for a Pixar film.

neutral · AI labelView post →I have a strange/strained relationship with Pixar nowadays. I watched their films growing up and do like them, especially the early ones like Monsters Inc/Toy Story 2, but more and more I have no desire to rewatch them and my top ten favorite animated movies list doesn't contain a single Pixar film.
neutral · AI labelView post →Here's some early concept art from an early version Monsters Inc by Harley Jessup. It's interesting knowing this version of the film was really influenced by Paper Moon, which is a film that has really seeped through all of Pete Docter's films.
neutral · AI labelView post →At my husband’s suggestion we are watching Monsters, Inc tonight. This movie is fucking delightful and pairs very well with Moon joy.

neutral · AI labelView post →The best Pixar movie is actually Monsters Inc
positive · AI labelView post →Randy Newman recorded a demo track for “If I Didn’t Have You” that made it to Monsters, Inc.’s soundtrack. As grand as Mike and Sully’s version in the film may be, there’s something poignant about a rendition where Newman does the whole song himself in the confines of his personal recording booth.

neutral · AI labelView post →I am watching Monsters Inc and drinking whisky. It’s such a good Film. The journey and the story and the characters and the acting and the film making are so good.
positive · AI labelView post →> I'm whooshing regarding the large, yellow... canister? Thingy? What's going on? It's a *Monsters, Inc.* reference. ::: spoiler spoiler In that movie, the eponymous monsters power their civilization by scaring people and harvesting their screams into those canisters. :::
neutral · AI labelView post →The impression I get from the new War of the Worlds film (I haven’t seen it yet) is that one scene in Monsters Inc. where Sully is reacting to what he thinks is Boo being turned into a cube; that but like extended to a full length movie.
neutral · AI labelView post →Boo Cinema is hands down the best track in Mario Kart World for me 🙏🙏 the aesthetic looks incredible, having the course as film reel is such a fun idea, and the music is phenominal 👌 the music reminds me of a haunted Monsters Inc🍿
neutral · AI labelView post →One of the weirdest animation facts I know. Monsters Inc. is the first computer animated film to have computer generated toilets. No seriously!
neutral · AI labelView post →I can’t die. I have to keep going. What if they actually *are* making a new Monsters Inc movie
positive · AI labelView post →Watching Monsters, Inc. 2

neutral · AI labelView post →2. Monsters University is the best of the non-Toy Story Pixar sequel films. The ways it expands on both Mike and Sully's characters greatly enhance their relationship and growth in Monsters Inc. and it also has one of the brutally honest morals of any Pixar film while still ending on a happy note.

With that said, Shi's musical film, Ono Ghost Market, and Monsters Inc. 2 do have me intrigued. (I know, I did not forget Monsters University. But it was mainly a prequel film and not a full on sequel.)

Watched The Fisher King all the way through for the first time in ages and it's still really good. Monsters Inc. also holds up. Hannibal Rising and Scary Movie 2? No. Not at all really. #Letterboxd
positive · AI labelView post →One detail I love about the Monsters University score is at the end when Mike suggests that they work in the Monsters, Inc. mailroom, Randy Newman teases the intro of "If I Didn't Have You"...but not the film version sung by Sulley and Mike, it's the intro to Newman's piano demo of the song!

neutral · AI labelView post →The first movie just felt like it challenged the Monster Universe's preconceived notions of the human world so well that any sort of sequel or spinoff from then on would just feel unnecessary. I loved Monsters Inc in the kind of way that I didn't really need to see anymore of it if that makes sense?

And lucky for him, he was able to fix the problems that Lasseter had caused.
