You need to decide how much you want to grow your base organism - the more you grow, you're more protected, but move slower, or not at all! Also, growing your base also means playing defensive - which might not be ideal! The graphics are really cool, the music is superb and there are actual live-action cutscenes! It shows how much passion and heart went…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The module system adds a lot of creativity for strategies that I've never seen in an RTS before. Every unit and "building" is essentially a combination of different tiles, meaning the player decides the roles of units and what early/end game units look like. After just playing and talking to the community for a few hours, my brain is already filled with endless smart and silly ideas. Some reviews tell you to wait for the full release. I think it depends on what you're looking for. The game is…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Interesting concept, but horrid controls that can't even be remapped, no tactical pause/slow (personal gripe, but still), and weirdness involving unit positioning where rotating them to face the way you want is a pain in of itself. Also a number of bugs like getting stuck with having one unit selected and having to screw around with the menu to be able to de-select it. I will say that I really like the cheesy live action cutscenes, brings me back to the old Command and Conquer days. While I'm…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →An "organic" love letter to the RTS genre. A must buy RTS title. You play as a massive organic entity, equally capable of expanding into a sprawling base and a creeping swarm that blankets your enemies. The incredible part is how well you can transition from gigantic static entity to a flood of zerging attackers. It feels glorious. As an older and slower gamer I don't think I can even see the skill ceiling on this game. But, as an older and slower gamer I love that I feel like I can play…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A special RTS is this gem. I've played RTS games since I was a kid, many of the classics like AoE, Starcraft, Warcraft, C&C. Moduwar took me by surprise in a couple ways: 1. The live action cut scenes such a wonderful throw back and for such a small they are done quire well in my opinion 2. The concept. It's a true RTS with base building, however, your base is also your army. As a living organism you grow organs to unlock other organs then can split them off to move around as your "soldiers".…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's not often that a game comes along and tries to reinvent a genre. When it does eventually happen, most games crash and burn because they either overextend themselves or they find themselves in a niche so tight that they never gain any traction. Any game that attempts to be a jack-of-all-trades reaches everyone but captures no one. Any game that attempts to master one single element finds a devoted cult following but sacrifices their wider audience. Moduwar has found a sweet spot that it…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I didn’t realize how much I missed the old-school RTS vibe until I started playing moduwar. it feels like it was made by people who loved those games as much as i did. there’s something about it that hits that nostalgia button just right. not only the gameplay but also the live-action cutscenes, they have that semi-cringe, charming cutscenes that reminds me of how games used to not take themselves too seriously but still pulled you in. What's different here though is that you don’t build a…

unlabelledView post →TLDR: Too clunky at the moment, but with a bit of polishing it could be great The Good: The premise and idea is awesome and I love how each 'unit' is put together, you choose the pros and cons and come up with your own preferred unit size and abilities. Don't misjudge how small this section is, it does a LOT of heavy lifting. The Bad: Its... clunky. very very clunky. It feels like I should be able to pause the game so that I can design my units/base how I want to, including a separate…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Played 2 levels of the campaign so far. Unique take on RTS games, you definitely won't feel like you've already played 100 similar games when you play this. Very fairly priced, definitely recommended!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →ModuWar is a real-time strategy game where you play as a creature that can split and combine various parts of itself. The overall premise is that you are a Modu, an alien creature, peacefully living on a planet. One day, humans arrive on the lush planet, and at the same time, another alien force attacks, beginning to enslave the planet's inhabitants. You are one of the fortunate Modus who has not been captured by the aliens; however, humans have captured you instead and conscripted you to fight…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The vibes are strong on this one. From the soundtrack to the menus and sound design, to the "full motion video" vibes of the 90's, Moduwar has got it all. While the current content is fairly short and introductory (there's more modes and Skirmish to try out though), and some of the controls are somewhat clunky or lacking, the atmosphere alone got me on this one. Being able to spread your main unit & home base is cool, but growing out of that and into building purpose-built units with its own…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I enjoy this game but it's still clearly very early and has some significant flaws. It has a lovely look and feel, very much like Red Alert 2, campy FMVs, weird units, and an easy to learn strategy. It needs: A button to select all units Waypoint movement A better reason to make large Modu More complex Modu like fliers or true submerged units for the end game An explanation in the campaign as how a water only species is going to conquer the planet.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →If you are willing to try a completely different type of strategy game then it is definitely worth your money. This game can be a bit tricky for newcomers but honestly I think that is what made the game so appealing for me. What I totally like are the cutscenes throughout the game which were shot with real people. It gives the game a nice and funny charm. I really hope to see more of this game in the future.

I get to build my modular monstrosities and slow pace the levels. And yes there's plenty difficulty levels for people looking for a challenge. The game play is super innovative, tower defense + strategy but you can move the things you build around, merge them, split them... I feel like playing zerg but way more plastic. And the whole vibe is very starcraft, I love it. Don't…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Honest review: I've played a lot of different rts games like Star Craft, Universe At War, Supreme Commander, Command & Conquer etc. Personally this game is up my alley. Biggest take, ocean symbiot/necromorph monster, just plain dope. The ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ soundtrack is amazing!! Hooked on it, no lie. Just like Universe at War the game has me hooked. Bit of a learning curve for sure, but with practice I've been able to mop the hardest Npc's. Eventually i'll play online. Gotta test that. Of course the…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Clunky mess, but on a positive side. FMV looks like junk from early youtube or internet forums. It's great. Gameplay is quite unique, enjoy becoming an evolving blob fish alien !
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Honestly it's a pretty great emulation of a boomer RTS kind of game with a slightly more modern vibe. The cutscenes are quirky - Live-action with probably B-quality acting, but frankly A-quality sci-fi setups and some fitting modern animation. If Venture Bros got a live action that felt true to the quality of the show - and I mean that as a compliment - this is how it'd feel. The UI needs work. For one, you can accidentally grow modules through the module/organ selection grid and even when you…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I grew up playing Red Alert and Warcraft, and Moduwar instantly took me back to those golden days of classic RTS games. It seems like the main inspiration for Modu is Dune 2000—Modu reminded me of those iconic sandworms, adding a nostalgic twist while still feeling fresh and original. I strongly recommend Moduwar. It’s a cool and creative spin on the RTS genre, with a really original story and innovative gameplay where you control Modu, a living creature that keeps changing and growing as…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I have been following this game for years and hopping to see this launch. Even if the publisher didn't ask me to make a video about it, I would have been here writing this early review to tell more RTS players how this is the "New and Unique" game they have been asking for years now. With 4 game modes, two of which are admittedly very similar (arena and survival) and so far 4 campaign singleplayer missions this isn't a lot of content but it is a very strong start of a game that plays so…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I've just started the game but played the demo back in time. Strong 'good old RTS' vibes with the cinematic in game that I love & also like the twist that your body is your base I'm seeing a lot of improvement vs the demo and can't wait to spend more time in the game
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Played a very early build. Has potential and will revisit later. https://youtu.be/Ltu4e8Fr2zk
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Got this on a Humble Bundle (Games in 5 hours) and looks interesting so... yeah. Lets do it! Cutscenes have this really camp classic C&C vibe and I love it. Actors are not native English so the accent/pronunciation of words get a pass from me. Game itself depending on situations in the early levels can vary between too easy, reasonable challenge, & unfair very quickly. Enemies in some campaign maps just randomly spawn in designated areas and enemy AI seems to be able to recover huge losses…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Very fun creative game that I highly recommend! Its fascinating! I have enjoyed the updates and the discord is a good time! great community definitely give it a shot!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Super unique and fun, very addicting to me designing the different Moduspawn! Does a great job of giving that hivemind/colony feeling you get from Zerg, Carrion, The Thing and the like, although seemingly more benevolent. You can have a Medium Modu and act as a Mothership, floating around the map supporing your units, or you can settle in an area as a Hive, a highly fortified stationary Modu, sending your tendrils throughout the canyons! Some features I would love: The ability to set a…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Can't reccomend in it's early access stage. The live actions cut scenes are a nice throwback to the old school command and conqure and the theme of playing as a living weapon is kinda neat but thats about it. I would have refunded the game but i am hoping that my money will go towards making the game better.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's a cool idea at the core but I could not get into it. I find the controls unintuitive and that just makes the realtime aspect frustrating. Perhaps I'll give this another look once it has some more polish.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Moduwar has amazing potential. The staff are nice, and very receptive to the community on discord, and the game itself plays really well. the unique twist on how to make units is really interesting, and the story is well written, and decently acted. Plus, it's liveaction which brings me back to Command and Conquer. I'm loving this game so far, and I can't wait to see more!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game has a solid ground to work on and i really like the concept. The cutscenes are campy and remind me of the old C&C games with it's inhouse recording and endearingly awkward dialogue scenes so i can't help but smile in a "watching a kid play by the sandpit" way when they start up My only issues i have currently with the game are threefold: Firstly, the difficulty, the game is way too easy atm and i hope that's something they work to improve but i still enjoy it for what it is…

unlabelledView post →Unique, somehow feels like an oldschool RTS arcade game - which I don't think is a genre that even existed? Fun and you can tell the developers put a lot of love in to it.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Pathfinding is often weird, Attaching/detaching modules is finicky, Selecting/deselecting units is unreliable, Minimap is often hard to read. But I really like the gameplay, building and detaching sections of your base to become your army is great, the FMV cutscenes are also really nice.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is a gem! From the stylish almost claymation graphics to the FMV cutscenes and utterly unique concept, this wouldn't feel out of place in the 90s wild west of video games. Luckily in the current era there's some very welcome comfort features here like a comprehensive tutorial and popups for any button you're confused by. This is essentially a combination of an RTS and Spore. You play as Modu, a lifeform that's adrift on the water, and now the pet project of a desperate human race…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Moduwar, developed by Biohex Studios and published by Firesquid, is a science-fiction real-time strategy game that takes the traditional RTS formula and rebuilds it around one of the most creative concepts the genre has seen in years. Instead of commanding armies made of tanks, soldiers, and mechanical units, players control a living alien organism capable of growing, mutating, splitting apart, and evolving during battle. This biological approach completely changes how strategy, expansion, and…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Open and honest I got this product for a discount and got the supporter addition as well all for 15$. Ever wanted to play Navy in Command and Conquer as well as some eldritch Zergy body Horror Force? Then this game is for you. There is nothing on the market quite like it and I hope more factions in games mimic the Modu species maybe even with more horror. As for this game its fun if your going in to play as a living grey goo type force. The Potential is there. When I looked to see it was in…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It feels really unique, but still familiar as someone who grew up with C&C and other rts games. The cutscene cheese is incredible. Some things it needs to work on: Your mouths stop harvesting when you load a save. Unit movement needs some polish. Mouths attacking jellyfish will snap forward and back in a janky way, and will sometimes struggle to figure out how to deliver food back to you.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I really believe in this project and think you should too. RTS has suffered for years and this brings new life to the genre in its campaign. The follow-through on a concept is exemplary, the setting is fresh and new, and the indie feel of the production is heartwarming - the cutscenes especially make me laugh and smile about the small-budget production with lots of heart. That said, a lot of work still remains before this can be considered complete. This is exactly the type of game that early…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →the cutseens are low quality and i love it, the gameplay is decent and a nice break from other RTS formats. over all its a good experience. get it now and support the development of the game!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →YES! Good and fun, just lacks length imo, cant wait for more updates!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Such a unique and fun game! Awesome soundtrack and art style. It somehow feels nostalgic, like the RTS golden days of Command and Conquer, but also very fresh and original. It's well worth the price.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Great! Only complaint is that, for some mysterious reason, the game started lagging fairly heavily after I had covered around a 12th of the entire map for campaign level 5 in my biomass. In all seriousness though, the game handled pretty well, and generally runs well, even on the highest graphics settings.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The controls feel a bit weird to me. Having to right click instead of left click for movement. The rotation of Modu being to right click and drag around is very odd. I found it very difficult to figure out how to orient Modu the way I wanted without doing guess clicks. Its very unintuitive in my opinion. As well as map navigation being what felt like backwards. In most games that I have played where the scroll wheel is used for map navigation you would click and drag down to go upwards…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Nostalgic RTS vibes with a new twist
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The latest innovating RTS game I've played was probably Rogue Command with its roguelite loop but Moduwar got me on a few things that most of other AA or indie game of that genre haven't! It's colourful but its soul is dark, the units and creature are weird and squishy, but in all the right ways. Moduwar feels like if someone we never asked decided to blend the DNA of H.R. Giger with some organic fragment of the grand Coral Reef to create a beautiful monster. You don’t just build units, you…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Core mechanics are there, but crucial QoL features such as save/load are missing. Wait for 1.0 release, don't rush buying now.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Yehey Playing as an Alien
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is such a labor of love. The cutscenes give me Red Alert 2 vibes, and the gameplay feels a little like red alert crossed with the Zerg. You play a modular monster being weaponized for war. You can deconstruct and reconstruct your body into different setups and sub-bodies to make different units. Size and organs matter - you can build lots of little yous, or build bigger yous. So strategy is up to you - zerg rush, or (my favorite) deadly behemoths
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Moduwar is an rts game which does things differently. I am going to start with the things I don't like and that is that there isn't enough music in the game, secondly it's that visibility for creating larger organs is rather bad. Other than that, I love the FMVs, I love the easy gameplay, and I love how easy the missions are to understand (except for mission 3).
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I've always considered myself to be a somewhat adaptable life form myself. Doctor says I need to get that checked It's just nostalgic enough to feel familiar old-school, but just different enough to feel fresh and exciting. Overall, a great experience! Game is currently in Early Access The good: The main modulation concept of the Modu is great: it feels like I'm learning "with" the Modu how to operate it and it genuinely feels like I'm generating my own unit types The first few missions…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Clunky as hell. Didnt even get past the second level. A timer that dose absolutly nothing and just resets when it reaches zero. Resources depleat extreamly quickly. Absolutly too many enamys for the second level. and almost every single one turns invisible and you cand hit them unless you have the eye on your guy which is too expensive with hoe scarce the resources are.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Crusty as hell but it has what most games coming out today don't have, sauce.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I'm giving it a positive review even though I'm refunding it for now. I love the atmosphere. I love that there are campy live action clips in the campaign. I think the core concept is really cool and adds a lot of potential strategies for gameplay. I refunded for now because it felt like this game needs a lot of polish still. But I'm keeping it on the wishlist and will definitely revisit it later.

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →So far so good. A fresh RTS with campy C&C / KKND vibes. Two missions in, the best way to describe it, is as a "tower offense" hybrid where you can take your entire "base" on to go. Also, tentacles.
