Memento
Leonard Shelby is tracking down the man who raped and murdered his wife. The difficulty of locating his wife's killer, however, is compounded by the fact that he suffers from a rare, untreatable form of short-term memory loss. Although he can recall details of life before his accident, Leonard cannot remember what happened fifteen minutes ago, where he's going, or why. From TMDB

neutral · AI labelView post →MEMENTO was released 24 years ago this week. Acclaimed by experts as one of cinema's greatest explorations of memory, and the film that catapulted the career of Christopher Nolan, the making of story is one you won't forget… 1/47

neutral · AI labelView post →Q: What’s a movie where you just didn’t know whether it was going to work or not, but it turned out to be great? Tobolowsky: Memento by Christopher Nolan. I get the screenplay and it’s 340 pages long, and I go, “Oh God, amateurs, amateurs.” texashighways.com/culture/arts...
neutral · AI labelView post →“This film is where the beginning of Nolan’s career meets the apex. A 'Memento' for The Ages, in which our hero keeps recovering fragments of lost memories, sharing his confusion with the audience, as he discovers that his role in the epic may not be as heroic as he - or we - first thought.”
neutral · AI labelView post →I hear an undulating high-pitched whistle that makes my nose bleed. _Stargate SG-1_ S10E8 "Memento Mori" This is a joke about how there are a lot of actors who portray characters in both _Stargate SG-1_ and _the X-Files_ (just like basically every other sci-fi show filmed in Canada). Carter, Hammond, Dr. Lee, etc. I found out recently that IMDb has a neat advanced search function that allows you to compare two shows to quickly see which actors appear in both:…
neutral · AI labelView post →One time my rented DVD of "Young Adult" glitched so that the scenes played out of order. Up until the end credits started playing halfway through, I had assumed it was some kind of Memento/21 Grams timeline-fuck movie, and gotta be honest, it was really working for me
neutral · AI labelView post →If you recut Memento into the correct order it's just a movie about the dumbest guy ever

I know this is not an original answer but ever since I Memento in a theatre, I’ve been following Chris Nolan (pun not intended) and I just love his whole approach - his commitment to avoiding VFX, his dedication to theatrical film releases, his ambition. It’s been so inspiring.
positive · AI labelView post →'A first for Christopher Nolan': Memento is finally getting a 4K Blu-ray — and it a surprising twist, it has director-approved Dolby Vision HDR.

neutral · AI labelView post →This was The Matrix (before The Matrix) meets Memento (before Memento). This movie is spectacular.
neutral · AI labelView post →Memento has withstood the test of time, thanks to memorable performances, intricate storytelling, and what the film ultimately reveals about our all-too-human willingness to deceive ourselves to escape unpleasant truths.
neutral · AI labelView post →1. Oppenheimer (his only truly great film) 2. Interstellar (you know what fuck it the fourth dimension *is* love) 3. Memento (I saw this as a 14 year old and I'm sorry but it was my favorite movie for like 3 years)
positive · AI labelView post →2& Years Later is an extraordinary, breathtaking film. Danny Boyle remixing a zombie movie into a thing full of wonder and humanity. One of the most vital British films of the 21st Century and EXTREMELY timely now. Memento Mori indeed.
neutral · AI labelView post →It's like somebody asked a toddler to write the film 'Memento'
negative · AI labelView post →my favorite part of Memento is when Guy Pearce tattoos “I’M MEMENTO” on his chest so he doesn’t forget he’s the movie

neutral · AI labelView post →For me, DUNKIRK is still Nolan’s best and most total film — it’s as mythically heroic as THE DARK KNIGHT, as dreamy as INCEPTION, as morally uneasy as MEMENTO, and as much a Borgesian labyrinth as INTERSTELLAR. Every shot a perfect study of movement and behavior. A masterpiece
neutral · AI labelView post →Hard to remember that 25 years ago, no distributor would buy this movie because they didn't think audiences would get it. New ep gets into how Steven Soderbergh was so spooked that MEMENTO went unsold that he said indie cinema was dead back in the year 2000.

neutral · AI labelView post →Movie idea: Oceans 11 meets Memento. They all keep forgetting what they're doing during the heist every 15 minutes.
neutral · AI labelView post →Interestingly enough, early in development, Christopher Nolan was supposed to direct Troy, but he was not yet a well-established director and got pushed out. He wasn't well-known outside of indie film circles who loved him for Memento. Batman was offered to him by Warner Brothers as an apology.

unlabelledView post →Rewatching Memento, a film I love, for the first time in years, and it's really shocking how much worse it is now Nolan has an actual body of work. Like, it's no longer an imaginative, narratively-daring, thriller, it's just "more Christopher Nolan shit".
unlabelledView post →The Odyssey: Very good! Louder than the Daytona 500! The Spider-Man kids can actually act if you put them in a real movie! Give Leguizamo his make-up Oscar! Give me a life-size Darth Safdie cutout! Most effectively nonlinear Nolan film since Memento, imo!
