It adds VR cutscenes and slightly improved graphics while removing some story content and multiple endings and replaces the combat system with one that isn't as good as the original. Get the original instead of this one.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Title: A surprisingly cozy JRPG with a fun VR twist I picked up Megadimension Neptunia VIIR during a sale not really knowing what to expect, I'd only played one Neptunia game before and thought it was just okay. But this one really clicked with me in a way I didn't expect. First off, the new engine makes a huge difference. Everything runs super smooth compared to some of the older titles in the series. No weird stuttering or clunky menus. The battles are actually fun now with the revamped…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Worse than original [url=store.steampowered.com/app/460120]Megadimension Neptunia VII in almost all regards. Just buy that one instead. Pros: - A bit better graphics. The game was ported to the Orochi 4 / Mizuchi engine (same engine as used in [url=store.steampowered.com/app/990050]Death end re;Quest and other recent Idea Factory titles), and many of the assets have been updated. Character models are smoother looking, and many dungeons got a much needed facelift, with sharper textures, better…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →If you have a Quest 3, don't buy this. It was designed for two very specific headsets in 2018. It was a challenge to even get into the game. It launches in windowed mode by default. The VR portion was distorted and unplayable on my headset.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Small warning before you buy. It doesn't matter what you expect from this game or how high your standards are for RPGs in general, the fact stays that Blanc is by far the best girl, and you simply cannot deny this.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The VR content is the reason I bought this game. It's also the reason I requested a refund and recommend against buying it. The game struggles to even launch into VR properly. When it does launch you are forced to remain stationary, or your vision is disabled, which defeats the point of VR. I really wanted this, and bought it despite having already played VII, but it completely fails to deliver on its promises. If you have played VII there is absolutely no reason to get VIIR; if you have…

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Normally I don't write reviews to complain about the quality of the PC Port, but this port is genuinely abysmal. To preface this, VII itself is hands down the best game in the Neptunia franchise, and deserves to be played. However, you should instead play the normal version of VII. It does have less content and is different from VIIR, but it's worth not going through the headache of VIIR's port. Also, I have a PC that's waaaay above the recommended spec. RTX 2080 and i7 9700K. The short…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →No. Just no. This is the VR version if the base game and there’s almost no VT content and you don’t even need a VR set to play it. There are some improvements in the game, including improved graphics; however, the list of improvements are no where near as long as the list of issues. Firstly, there’s one one ending to the game and no Game+. There is end game content, but that’s repetitive and not worth doing unless you are an achievement hunter. The worst part of not having Game+ mode is…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →If you're not sure whether to get VII or VIIR, get this one. There are a large number of small changes between the two versions of the games, but the biggest ones are the combat system, and the way crafting works. Let it be known that the only reason VII is more popular than VIIR is because it was released first, and everybody only took a surface-level look at VIIR upon release. When people are looking back on these games a few years down the line, you're gonna see people come out defending…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's bad. Play the original VII no matter what.

She will never know how much I love her.. please don't take my sunshine away.. The other night, Gear.. As I lay sleeping.. I dreamed I held her in my arms.. When I awoke, Gear.. negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Well... it's the copy of the normal Megadimension, but with some change in the fighting mechanism.... improved graphic (more than the previous) but a lot of us are here for the "Player room", without talking about VR (Awesome althrought i didn't have a device so can't play in VR) Meeting the CPU " Especially the BIG ONE NEP is a great experience.... and also edit the room with your room object desired and acquired after story and after other VR event of our lovable CPU (and the big nep FOREVER)…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →+ good characters + neptastic adventures again + barefoot Blanc in VR + Good OST + nice visuals - pretty much unplayable - many bugs (audio vanishes randomly, pretty much framedrops in some areas) - crashing while transforming - crash in cut scenes - crashes always on Ram's Transformation - crashes when it wanna crash - graphic quality not adjustable (no official patch for it) - you can choose a upscaled 4k (which looks horrible) - or you can choose something different, but have to disable…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game tries to sell itself as an "enhanced version" of the original Megadimension Neptunia VII. In my honest opinion, it's anything but enhanced because not only are the differences miniscule, but I couldn't even finish the god forsaken game due to a technical issue. First of all, this game seems to have a serious issue with crashing. It seemed to be inconsistent at first, but I started to notice how it happens more and more frequently as the story progresses. This seems to corelate with…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Not worth it if you're buying it for the VR Experience.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game is not properly optimized or configured for PC, so don't buy it. The controls are all mapped for PS4 and have no keyboard equivalent, which means that a PS4/5 controller are required to play it. The battle system is too confusing and it creates unfair turns. Can't recommend it. Sorry :-(
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →People lied, kids died buy VII this game is missing stuff unless you really want the VR i guess
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Unfortunately this game is a very poor pc port and from what I have seen and experienced the VR module is not functional and rarely works for most people. No fixes or workarounds either. For myself the game would crash whenever a VR segment would load with steamVR open ei. starting a new game. SteamVR being necessary for use of my Valve Index. This is a disappointment of the primary selling feature for me and I will be refunding it. From what I have read I imagine even if I had got it to work,…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Buy the original. and i loved noire’s new voice
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Technical issues you should know about before buying this game: You need to install it on your system drive or background music and voice acting will be missing and it will crash at some points. The VR scenes render at the wrong FOV making them look broken for any headset you can use on the computer. Even if you set the game resolution to 4K, the gameplay will not actually render at anything higher than full HD. This is a shame because it seems to have lots of fun content otherwise.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Good for those who never played the original VII. For previous owners, it's alright I guess. The VR is gimmick but alright I guess. Graphics are better, no doubt. Longtime series fans may not enjoy the new battle system. It's weird to complain about DLC, but I hate how they didn't bring in the DLC characters from VII into this. It gave the game some extra spice. Overall I'd rate this game a solid 8/10. Probably a 7 if you're coming from VII and are here to double dip.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The crafting system of this game is absolutely intolerable. You need to make hundreds of each item to finally get the stat layout you want. Some items don't even get certain stats, and there is no direction in the game that explains which ones get what. You just need to experiment endlessly and waste resources. Then you still need more crafting items (which are obtained by a very annoying system where you send scouts out to gain resources) in order to keep everything upgraded. The only way out…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Still an amazing game, and the best out the series. Story: This is divided into like five sections, so quite a long game. To sum it up, a CPU who could not control their power, ends up getting sealed away. As such, forming Zero and Heart Dimension which is linked to their existence. This as well plays into the rest of the stories, as the antagonist, a half of the CPU. Was the one planning their way, all to try and get revenge against those they thought abandoned them. While this is a game…

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I dig it. If you have knowledge of gaming history, you'll really get the meta humor. I can see how someone can make a religion around this.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →10/10 game, legit better genshin. i wish i didn't spended so much money on genshin and just play this instead megadimension neptunia viir
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →As far as Neptunia games goes, it is decent, one of the few instances that I wish for more nuanced Steam reviews. VIIR streamlines a lot of the story and removes useless DLC characters, which I find as a positive, and has a much more robust (if time-consuming) crafting and item system, which, once again, I love (being a hardcore fan of looters and the like). VII (and by extension VIIR) is still home to some of the most useless and try-hard characters in the series, and tries to push way to far…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →thumb down because I bought it as a VR - ready game and it is not. It is not even PLAYABLE at all because the VR-Control mapping is totally messed up and even with mouse and keyboard it simply DOES NOT WORK. All the times the VR-Controller gets in sleep mode the game input (especially mouse) is locked as well, and pressing with vr glasses keys on the keyboard you do not see is a pain. The key mapping for the keaboard is a pain to and not configurable. The game actually seems to be fun and has…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →If you are reading this, then you are most likely an existing fan considering whether to buy this or MegaDimension VII. There's a lot of disagreement in the reviews, so let me break it down: First, you do not need a VR headset to play. The VR cutscenes are sparse, bland, and not connected to the main game. The biggest change in VIIR is the combat system. In the original VII and all of the Re;Birth games, you walk up to the enemy and press a button to attack. Press the button again to…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game is a masterpiece, and to describe it you need only a few words - "Nep Nep"
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I think I prefer the new battle system to the old one, I get why people aren't fans though, this one just works better for me, as the old one worked better for a lot of others. Overall an amazing game though, owned it on PS4 and most recently Nintendo Switch. Looking forward to completing it again on PC. Apparently you can only get the good ending, but I guess I'm cool with that considering I've seen the other endings already. If you haven't played this game before then maybe youtube the other…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Probably the most exciting Neptunia game I've had the chance to play, thanks to the Steam Summer Sale. Storywise, this is a pretty tight plot considering what kind of style the Neptunia series usually would go for. My prior experiences with Re;birth 1 made me believe this installment would be a slapstick comedy-filled game, but I was pleasantly surprised to experience a fairly serious story. Three separate parts in one game, all which culminate into the final third of the story. Speaking of…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →If somebody feels like the Neptunia games might not be for them, but wants to give them a try anyway, I recommend starting with this one. I tried playing other Neptunia games in the past, but always got bored quickly. I've played a maximum of 10 hours of previous games. I wanted to like them, but never could. So I gave up on them for a while until this game popped up in a big sale. I got into it. I like this game quite a bit. I don't quite know why I couldn't like the previous games, but…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Bought this since I loved the original, but honestly don't bother. The VR Sections are a bad joke, it didn't let me recenter and I was stuck in a rather uncomfortable position, the subtitles floated around who knows where, just not anywhere close to my view, not that they where in any way shape or form necessary. I managed to watch 3 VR events and I was ready to puke afterwards, I don't know how they managed to make a simple room so ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ nauseating. They even managed to make the game…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →If Megadimension Neptunia VII was the series' heavy-hitter, then VIIR is the high-definition "Director’s Cut" that decided to add a whole new dimension—literally. This isn't just a remaster; it’s a total engine overhaul that brings the goddesses into your living room through VR. The core game is still the massive, three-part epic involving the "Zero Dimension," a crumbling world where Neptune meets Uzume—a new CPU with a megaphone and enough "cool" energy to power a small city. But the real…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →An incomprehensible and completely unnecessary remake. Just slapping a few fan-servicey, barely interactive VR scenes on top of the base game for a quick cash grab would've been one thing, but they also reworked the engine and visuals (for the sake of minor improvements), brought a different combat system all the way back from mk2 (which is atrocious UX-wise; sometimes you need to press 4 different buttons just to end your turn!), added a bunch of loot-based postgame content (which boils down…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I like it. I don't like it as much as Re;Birth 3, but I still enjoy it.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →warning this game dont work on steam deck fps drop to 0 and when you to setting is even worse
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A very crash happy remake of a game that honestly did not need a remake. The story is the exact same, the combat has been fully reworked in a way that makes you able to replace standard attacks with special moves after the first act of the game (which you can imagine makes most fights stupidly easy), and I honestly can't tell if the game's visuals have changed. If you own or have played VII you can easily skip this title, because the little VR scenes are nothing more than a gimmick that took…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →as expected of idea factory it only supports 2 vr headsets and just crashes on everything else
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →i love gay people
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It was alright, I could look past the technical issues and dull mid-game to enjoy the meta humour right up until they blatantly state most of the main cast is underage with a very creepy, predatory tone. Couldn't look at the game or any of the "fanservice" the same after that.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Disclaimer: Most of my playtime of this game was spent on the GOG version, so my Steam playtime is not reflective of my real playtime. Megadimension Neptunia VIIR is a remake of sorts of Megadimension Neptunia VII, featuring higher quality graphics in the OROCHI4/Mizuchi engine, VR support, and an overhauled combat system. If you’ve already played VII, then what’s the point in playing VIIR? I’d best explain the biggest differences between the two so that you as the reader may make a more…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →If you're buying this to play on Oculus Quest 2, I wouldn't recommend it. It wouldn't even run on my headset. Black screen the entire time. (Although I have read that some of the cutscenes will show up in the headset). It does play on the PC monitor, at least. Had I known how many issues it had when trying to play in VR, I would've purchased VII instead of VIIR. Very disappointed.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →My opinion game is better then the first version in general but combat is boring.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →An interesting remake with a nice, dating simulator-like VR feature, ranking challenges, and improved visuals and audio. Although, this one places a slightly different itinerary of events and gameplay (omitting the other endings including the NG+) with some good and bad and perhaps containing a buggy package. The trophies are pretty easy too. :P I like the remake based on the overall experience but I like the original more in terms of the gameplay and combat. If you are a Hyperdimension…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Pretty much the same as VII the only difference are the VR events and theres just the true ending, no bad or normal ending Battle system and how everything else works if you ask me about what should you choose (VII or VIIR) it would be VII if you want to try and get the normal and bad ending for the achievements and all that.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →game blackscreened on first install, restarted PC and it fixed itself. i leave to go do something and pause in a VR event and the game stops accepting any inputs after i unpaused, which then forced me to force close the game, losing any progress i had saved from way too long ago. then moments after that, the game crashed in the middle of a cutscene for no reason. idea factory please spend more time debugging for christ's sake
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Like the original Megadimension Neptunia except it was not aborted and its mom did take folic acid
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I don't know why I like this game, but this is a good game
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →from what Ive seen and heard this game takes VII and ruins it, the vr part of this game is bad, short character interactions and you cant even play the game in vr you have to take the head set off, combat is really bad, like really bad, most actions in battle cost BP, even your basic attack it sucks, overall there wasnt enough pros about this remake that makes it stand out or even better then VII, just buy that instead, also this game from what Ive heard only has one ending, down from 3 in the…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Other than the non-skipable VR segments between chapters It's a fun neptunia game, Gameplay is solid and characters are lots of fun as well, Definitely recommend this, especially if it goes on sale
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Doesnt sem to want to work with Steam Index headset. Glad I only spent 10 bucks on it during sale. I already own VII and I guess Ill just play that. Sad I wasted $10. Not a big deal at least. Hope they fix it either way.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Good God, the original is so much better it's not even funny. I believe the stories are the same but I'm not playing through the entirety of this "remake" to find out because the battle system is one of the worst in the entire series. Only the original Hyperdimension on PS3 might have a worse battle system (and even then, I'd probably choose to play that game over this one). It's somehow worse than Re;Birth 3's system, which had differences compared to R;B 1 and 2 that were bad enough for the…

While the core story remains the same, the game introduces performance upgrades, rebalanced combat mechanics, and a new virtual-room segment that emphasizes character interaction. Its goal is to refine the original experience while providing additional immersion for fans. The narrative is split across three interconnected dimensions—Zero…
