It inspired me to make a fan patch for the game since, not only does it not include any glide wrappers to make the game compatible with modern systems, it also missed a LOT of original content from the game such as cutscenes, artwork etc. Using my patch though you should be able to experience the game as it was meant to be. In my opinion MDK is a pretty awesome shooter. It's insanely easy to play (especially with a modern WASD+mouse control…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I find pretty hilarious that MDK has a code left by the developers that completelly bypasses the CD check, the game requires the original disc in the drive to play. But if you use the code "-iamapirate" you can play it without the disc.
unlabelledView post →MDK is a must own! MUST OOOOWWWNNN !!! The first time I saw this game was on a PC in a Tandy Electronics store in early 1997. lol, boy I tell you, I played it as much as I could. Which was only 15 mins. But when I had to leave, I knew I had to get away from games like Doom, Quake, Heretic, Descent, Blakestone 3D, Wolfenstein 3D, Duke Nukem 3D ... etc. These 3D platform shooters were the next big thing! The graphics amazed me back then. Now that I play it, I gotta admit it isn't as great as I…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →If i was just rating the game i'd mash the "yes" button as hard as i could, but unfortunately the steam version was released very broken requring hunting down fan patches and modifying game files to even work, and even then it's still really buggy. Then to add insult to injury, the steam version is missing the end credits video when you beat the game. Get the GOG version instead of the steam version, it installs and plays without modification and is the complete game.

Mostly inspired by MDK and Turok. (work in progress) Wishlist it here: store.steampowered.com/app/3860970/...

Don't worry, your companion (Val'tynha) cannot die and you can teleport her to your location anytime, alien technology. You only fail if Val'ty (player) dies.

If you don't know yet, Val'ty's game is a short FPS inspired by games like MDK, ParanoiaScape and Chasm The Rift. #WIP #retrofps

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A true underrated classic! A little dated at this point, but it really just needs some minor control tweaking. Trapped in 480p but otherwise, its fun as hell.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →VAL'TY is a short retro fps mom-game inspired by alien conspiracy theories, MDK and Turok. Play as Val'ty and her 9-years-old daughter Val'tynha, eat enemies, find new abilities, and stop Ashtar Sheran's plan to subjugate dissident aliens. I don't know how this would hold up for somebody who has never played this before... i would guess not at all. I really can't tell you if you would like this or not. That said, i can not recommend buying it on Steam, you should probably buy it on GOG instead, it…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →@retroblast.bsky.social’s recent post got me reminiscing about the Dreamcast and I recall watching my older cousin play a game called MDK 2. Never heard any of my friends talk about it and have seen zero mention of it in about 25 years. Has anyone played that one? I thought it looked fun, as a kid.
unlabelledView post →Great game just like I remember it except one HUGE problem... They completely cut out the ending! After you defeat the final boss the game just abruptly ends, no awesome song and cutsceen. Also the screenshots they showcase on the steam game page are all from the beta version of MDK and none of those are actual screenshots from the current game. I'm happy to see the game on steam but steam has a lot of cleaning up to do with this game. Edit: I hear that steam may have patched this problem with…

unlabelledView post →Pros: ✅ The compatibility on modern PC's, on Windows 11, is surprisingly good. I played the 3DFX version, which runs smoothly and looks great even today, though it’s possible the original version could cause some problems. ✅ The story is almost non-existent, though there are a few logical plot points that give you enough understanding what and why are you doing the things you do in game.…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I'm working on #Val'tyFPS (very early in development). It's a simple FPS game inspired by ParanoiaScape, MDK, Akuji, Chasm: The Rift, and Quake II. It follows a quirky alien and her daughter as they invade a living spaceship. Featuring maggots to eat, plushies to collect, and walls of rotten flesh.

unlabelledView post →If there's any upside to be found, at least fans of Earthworm Jim can rest on the knowledge that most of the better parts of that game were probably helmed by the folks at Shiny, while Doug mostly did concepts and artwork. Which is why MDK was the true EWJ sequel, and they did that without Doug.

Thought its not very known, its a very cool game, with a good ammount of action, funny moments (The world's smallest nuclear bomb used to open doors through the game its a little gem) and big open locations. Unfortunately, the Steam version suffer of some bug and glitches, (quickly fixable thanks to the Fan Mod released that you can find it here, http://steamcommunity.com/app/38450/discussions/0/864973123467667345/ ) and a very bad…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Apparently many of the old Interplay games available on GOG/Steam are getting huge price spikes, with the Redneck Rampage collection going from 9.99$ (start of July) to 29.99$, Toonstruck now 20$ (still 9.99 on the Epic Game store) or MDK 1/2 jumping from 10$ to 20$.

unlabelledView post →MDK *10/10 This game is a Gem. Unfortunately its age always prevented me from trying to play it on modern systems, because I was sure it would give too many troubles because of old 3dfx compatibilities issues. I WAS SO WRONG. But not because there are no issues. Of course this is the classic "old-game-released-forgotten-and-unsupported" so as soon as I launched the game all I could see was the character and the skybox... No walls or enemies or items or other models... LUCKILY there's always…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →55. MDK (1997) Found this game randomly while looking through old games and honestly its now up there on my favorite games of all time list, the gameplay is kinda simple but there's a decent amount of variety where it never got too stale for me, it was just a fun time to go through and i want more.
unlabelledView post →MDK is the sort thing that isn’t well captured in words. One can describe it in such terms as would make it appear entertaining if ultimately unexceptional. Perhaps the best description would be something like 3D Contra, with Contra’s mixture of platforming and non-stop movement and action, only without the variety of power-ups and such. Instead you get a variety of expendable items and, as perhaps more befits its fully 3D environment, some sort of sniper riffle with several types of ammo.…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Good old PS1 era game. Fast and trippy gameplay, just run in tunnels and shoot with your eyes closed while listening to one of the best original soundtrack ever. Try it on one of those nights you have 3 hours to spare, it's fun.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →There's just something really special about those 90s PC game soundscapes with their 10000 different beeps and chunks and whooshes, but also just the crisp sound of footsteps and whirring machinery in a half life or an MDK. Great stuff. You probably remember exactly what a game sounds like.
unlabelledView post →Well done Kurt! MDK is a fast third person shooter that puts you inside Kurt's remarkable coil suit to fight against aliens that are trying to conquer Earth. For that, you're equipped with an infinite-ammo chain gun and a sniper rifle, combined with a lot of items (nuclear bombs, did I mentioned that?!) that can be obtained along the game (I mean NUCLEAR BOMBS!). The campaign is linear, with six worlds to complete. It's a classic, tremendously funny. I still can enjoy it like I did in 1999.…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Val'ty is a game being made by me and @lunaayarts.bsky.social It is an alien mom game inspired by MDK and Turok. No Gen AI! The game's story might be 'cringe', but I wrote it by myself. Val'ty's character is kind silly and weird, but so what? That's her Val'tian way. Cool updates soon.

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →this game is truly awesome! but when i downloaded it and started the game i didn't find the textures. but i fixed it thank to this patch http://steamcommunity.com/app/38450/discussions/0/864973123467667345/ ) i really recomend you to download this patch. this game has poor quality but you will forget it cuz of the amazing gameplay. the controls suck but well well. recommended!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I just implemented sniper mechanics, considering it is a game inspired by MDK. I also made it harder to hit distant enemies if you're not using the sniper. Now it needs more D&D elements as well, as it's also inspired by my D&D character. Maybe a Mimic character?
unlabelledView post →If it wasn't for nostalgia clouding my judgement and making me buy this in 2023 with the hopes of it working as intended at launch i would have stayed away from this game. While i had fun in the 2000s with this, today is not enjoyable at all to play.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Yes.. it's definitly refreshing to play this game again after so many years. This is the very first game that offer mortal .. gernade.. and many different object interaction that's uncommon for FPS game at that time. Replaying this game after 20 years it feels quite a bit easier then what it was but it's still so much fun to zoom in and kills an alien that tries to taunt you miles and miles away. You play a ganiter that works for a madscience and work with a humanoid looking dogs to save…

None though seem to quite so effortlessly succeed as Shiny Entertainment. MDK basically has no writing or characters.
