We are facing a title that has become a classic for many people, including myself. In short, Machinarium is one of those rare games that does not rely on classic dialogues or lengthy text, progressing entirely through visual storytelling. We control the little robot Josef, who has been thrown into a scrap heap, and our sole objective is to return to the city and…

One of the coolest looking games I've ever seen, with fully hand drawn artwork and fun, creative puzzles. I've played it multiple times, and it's so warm and endearing, despite its apocalyptic, depressing, and rundown look. If you have any interest in point and click games, you must play this game.

unlabelledView post →My top number 1 game I ever played, out of all 30 years of gaming. I even got a tattoo on my right arm, both Josef and his girlfriend and the owl and the cat :D The soundtrack from Tomas Dvorak is part of my daily live, I love listening to it. I even got both 12'' vinyls from the game music, and Josef toy of course. So you can clearly see my commitment to this game and the love I have for it. I've played it around 10 times over since October 2009, on numerous platforms. I remember it…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →In 2010, Humble Bundle put this game in a bundle. I opened it but realized I had to go to work. I swore I would return to play it because it was visually really cool and what little I knew of it suggested good, strong, puzzling. Along came 2015 and I re-opened this to stream. Setting up OBS took about 15 minutes and I was all set to go. Some acquaintances asked me to come stream a game with them instead. I switched over leaving it to rust. Then 2026 suddenly had me open it back up and I was…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Playing this game brought back a flood of wonderful memories. I vividly remember being eight years old and sitting next to my older brother while he played. I didn't really understand what was happening on the screen at the time, but the excitement was infectious. Fast forward to today, and I have finally beaten the game myself. It was a beautiful trip down memory lane. Even though my brother no longer lives with me, every moment spent playing this made me feel close to him again. It is a truly…

I haven't played through the game start to finish on PC yet, but my childhood would not have been the same without this. If you like puzzles and a dystopic yet strangely comforting atmosphere, you will not regret playing Machinarium. The soundtrack is also nothing but a work of art, and I actually have the OST added to my Spotify. Everything about this game…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Machinarium means a lot to me. It was one of the first games that showed me the creativity and beauty of indie games. It might not be well-known among newer players, but it’s absolutely worth discovering. #indiegame #indiedev
unlabelledView post →Machinarium simultaneously feels like a perfect exemplar of the adventure genre's strengths and an disappointing example of the failures that made the genre so infamous and radioactive for so long. The game's main strength is in its personality. Beautiful and quirky hand drawn art, charming character designs and an approach to storytelling with minimal dialog in favor of actions and little animated thought balloons. The music is also perfectly quirky and off-kilter. So why the negative score?…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I first played Machinarium many years ago on my mom’s phone when I was a kid. At that time the game felt very complicated and I could never finish it. But the atmosphere of the game was so unique that I still enjoyed just walking around the map and pretending to play. Years later, after going through a lot in life, I randomly talked about this game with a friend. We both agreed that Machinarium has a special vibe that stayed in our memories for years. So I decided to play it again on Steam. My…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Machinarium was a nice change of pace from the Samorost games, with a bit more meat on its narrative and a surprising tinge of pathos in its decaying world made of metal scraps and rusting pipes. The murky brownish color palette and the calm but slightly eerie soundtrack worked well together to create a melancholy mood for the setting. However, Machinarium wasn’t really a bleak game. The adventure was still brimming with Amanita Design’s whimsical sensibilities, and it was a joy to watch my…

The art style is exceptional, managing to bring both joy and unease at the same time. The whole world feels eerie and captivating. The soundtrack is amazing as well. Would highly recommend if you like puzzle games.

unlabelledView post →If you feel nostalgic for old point-and-click Flash games or enjoy point-and-click games in general, I absolutely recommend this game. Machinarium's puzzles will keep you scratching your head without being frustratingly obtuse, and even if you're feeling stumped, each level lets you use a hint to understand the objective. (The Steam Trading cards also feature a few "solved" levels. Hint hint.) Not to mention, the artwork, sound design, and music are all well done -- they still hold up after all…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Apologies because this is almost certainly not what you're thinking of, but your drawing reminded me so much of the 2009 point and click game 'Machinarium' that I wondered if some of that got blended into the memory. This was definitely a popular vibe for indie media at the time anyways.
unlabelledView post →I WILL ALWAYS LOVE AMANITA DESIGN. It is such a warm cute story, I love the no language / text storytelling that Amanita is always pushing for. The puzzles are fun to solve and there are hints, but not too easy to get, a great balance between challenging and not getting stuck. At no point I found it necessary to look for walkthroughs online. Very pleasant gameplay experience! [Also: this is my timekiller on plane flights]

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Machinarium is a truly charming and beautifully crafted puzzle adventure. From the very first moments, the hand-drawn art style creates a unique, melancholic atmosphere that feels both cozy and magical. positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Machinarium is one of my all-time favorite games — possibly the favorite. I first played it 14 years ago, and it has stayed with me ever since. The hand-drawn art, beautiful music, and clever puzzles create an unforgettable atmosphere. It tells an emotional story without using words, which makes it feel truly special. Even after all these years, Machinarium still feels magical and timeless. Highly recommended ;-)
