Loveless
Zhenya and Boris are going through a vicious divorce marked by resentment, frustration and recriminations. Already embarking on new lives, each with a new partner, they are impatient to start again, to turn the page – even if it means threatening to abandon their 12-year-old son Alyosha. Until, after witnessing one of their fights, Alyosha disappears. From TMDB

positive · AI labelView post →Did I buy some elaborate cap guns just for this video? Yes. Did I buy a Burger King toy of Dr. Arliss Loveless from the 1999 movie Wild Wild West just for this video? Yes. Did I buy a fedora just for this video? Please. I had that already.

neutral · AI labelView post →It's #LetterboxdFriday! And I don't honestly know if an HBO crime miniseries counts as a movie for these purposes, but Letterboxd thinks it does, so so be it. tbqh who cares, when it was bookended by The Loveless (biker Willem Dafoe) and Joyland (Pakistani erotic dance theatre). Solid movie week!
positive · AI labelView post →I think Dr. Loveless was less racist tbh And yes, I have seen the entire movie including the scene where he tries to defeat Will Smith with racial slurs while Will tries to defeat him with ableist ones lmao
neutral · AI labelView post →Zvyagintsev, director of the acclaimed films "Leviathan" and "Loveless," was left in a coma and unable to walk for a year after an extreme reaction to Russia's Sputnik V vaccine in 2021.
neutral · AI labelView post →I haven't seen a movie blow itself up like this since the camera picked up a woman in the Russian movie Loveless and as with that movie I'm pretty disturbed, which I guess is a compliment
positive · AI labelView post →Been a while since I’ve been able to catch up with my film watch list, these were all pretty good though. Fresh (2022) ***½ The Kid Detective (2020) ***½ Alien Romulus (2024) ***½ The Loveless (1981) **** #letterboxdFriday #lastfourwatched #film
positive · AI labelView post →Or if you are in the mood to lie on the floor in despair LOVELESS 📽️ is a very good bleak af movie (and I want someone to discuss the restaurant scene with)
positive · AI labelView post →I think the “they needed a dick stand-in for Dafoe in Antichrist because his dick was so distractingly enormous” is funny because he has a nude scene in the first movie he ever did (the Loveless) it’s artfully obscured for the most part, but you get like a frame of him flipping out of bed haha
neutral · AI labelView post →Loveless is probably one of the most hilarious things about the movie and it's mostly because his racism borders of being Wakka/Frieza at times with how utterly cartoony it gets
neutral · AI labelView post →The Loveless, biker movie debut of both Kathryn Bigelow and future Mulholland Drive cowboy Monty Montgomery (sharing writing and directing credits), starring Willem Dafoe, leaving Criterion at the end of the month; 82 minutes of pure vibes, not Scorpio Rising but not a million miles away at times

positive · AI labelView post →I had a dream someone proposed to me via text. But it was like a lifelong friendship oath proposal like in Loveless and I had to finish reading the text to get to that part, so I was trying to finish reading but had to finish watching old movie clips they sent first and I woke up and will never know
neutral · AI labelView post →We saw The Loveless, directed by Kathryn Bigelow, starring Willem Dafoe in his debut. An intensified biker movie with a fantastic ending and great music by Robert Gordon, who also starred.
positive · AI labelView post →Sorry everyone but my new sexuality is Marin Kanter with a gun Anyway, big recommendation for The Loveless, it was a surprisingly good movie to chill out to
positive · AI labelView post →That movie did Dr. Loveless so dirty. On the show, he was an erudite genius, a worthy opponent, a villain you'd like to see win. Instead we got a Confederate creep in a giant spider.
neutral · AI labelView post →Loveless is a brilliant film. A harsh and unpleasant film to watch, but shot-through brilliance. A perfect piece of winter cinema.
positive · AI labelView post →I think Loveless is a film that hates its characters and spends 2 hours indicting them. The way it presents Maryana Spivak is startling, it is so against how mothers are usually presented. I guess it could play as misogyny, as the father (Aleksey Rozin) is given a much easier time at least initially

neutral · AI labelView post →Today's first movie was The Loveless. And while the plot was pretty meh to me, I did get to stare at a young Willem Dafoe be eyecandy for the entire film. And I'm stealing screenshots for Max tbh. Its not a complete loss.

unlabelledView post →Took me way too long to listen to that. There's a scene in the Springsteen movie where he is listening to the band Suicide and Loveless does what Suicide (the band) did to him. There's something about the push, the weight, the warbling, the layers, the dissonance that is extremely comforting.
unlabelledView post →I saw WWW in theaters. There’s almost nothing memorable about that movie outside of Branagh’s performance. He owns the role of Loveless.
unlabelledView post →Yes, I know different roles have different requirements so you can't compare every film. He's done a lot of films though and some are similar to his role in The Loveless. I'm sure you can find similarities between this and The Lighthouse but I'll save that analysis for another time.

unlabelledView post →Just looked up the DP: Mikhail Krichman, who worked on Zvyagintsev's LEVIATHAN and LOVELESS. So *of course* I loved this film! (See my Zvyagintsev love, and especially my love of LOVELESS, which I also saw at [drumroll please] Middleburg, on that other platform.) Don't think it's fest-best though.

unlabelledView post →Omg, I need to see this! I'm obsessed with Dafoe's 2nd film, The Loveless, which is also biker gang themed. (Young Willem Dafoe is for anyone who ever secretly wanted to be James Dean but couldn't bring themselves to romanticize the 1950s.)
