Lost Sea is an arcade survival roguelike game, developed and published by Eastasiasoft, releasing on July 5th 2016 on PC, PS4 and Xbox One. Due to a plane crash in the Bermuda Triangle, your character finds themselves stranded on a tropical island so obviously your aim is to find a way off it. In order to do that, you must explore the island in search of food, other stranded…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is a game that comes close to good but fails to hold together. There're just a lot of things that aren't explained well, or are poorly designed--for instance, there are crew members you can pick up. That's cool, but you can only have one at a time initially, upgrading to more is /extremely/ expensive, and a great deal of content is gated behind their abilities. You can't even store a few different ones to tediously return to the ship for--all crew not currently assigned as direct…

This did not influence my review in any way. ========================================================== ---------------------------------------OVERVIEW------------------------------------- ========================================================== Lost Sea is a classic console-style action adventure game with rogue-like elements. In Lost Sea, you find yourself on a tropical island in the Bermuda Triangle after your plane…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Lost Sea is a cool little exploration, action game featuring rogue-like mechanics such as permadeath and procedural generation. Journeying from one island to the next you explore through mutliple regions, encounter differnt enemies and collect items, tablets, crew members, gold and experience to help you progress to further reaches of the game. Rogue-like lovers or players who enjoy exploration and strategy will find a lot to like in this title but it is far from a perfect experience.…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Lost Sea is a rogue-lite adventure game in which you explore procedurally generated islands, fight monsters, purchase upgrades for both yourself and your ship with the treasure you find, and recruit allies with a range of skills to assist you on your journey. .Story. You’ve been marooned on an island by a convenient turn of events. You meet a scientist who explains to you that, by finding magical tablets, you can travel from island to island and hopefully escape. So… You do just that.…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The game as a great art style that matches the theme pretty well. The music is ok but all the song are pretty alike. It might be expected from a randomly generated tile base rogue-like, but still it was just enough for me to notice it. The camera positioning for me was a big problem. For some reason having the character a little bit more toward the top of the screen instead of in the middle or near the bottom gave me a bit of a head hick. Also, the tile are very repetitive in 3-4 island I…

Your hero has been stranded onto a tropical island due to a plane crash. With the help of other stranded crew members that you find on your path and upgrades you can purchase at each island's dock , your quest is to navigate through the islands up until you reach the final one which allows you to enter a portal that leads you to an unknown place, presumably somewhere…

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game was way too hard for how simple it was. I finally beat the first island, only to die on the second to discover that you don't just go to the start of that island, you go back to the start of the entire game. Nope, no thank you.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A tedious game, incredibly repetitious and lacking any depth. The game's graphical style and quality are decent, and here and there parts of the gameplay show promise if further polished, but none of that promise is realized. The game's procedural generation can only barely be called that. Maps are nominally 'randomized', but because all maps are composed of a small set of pre-created map-chunks haphazardly pasted together, soon there is no feeling of exploring new places, but rather a…

I didn't die once but from the description it seems like it has rogue-like permadeath mechanics. Fair warning: It does not support mouse at all and recommends that players use controllers 100% of the time. Keyboard controls weren't to my liking. Gameplay seems cool to me but this game isn't my cup of tea. If you are in to this kind of game, I think it is worth the…

I hope you were able to follow me because while some games are easily implementing A and B, some games just lost sea. Lost Sea is a fun little game I would let my kids play, if I had any. A light and colorful game, where we’re stranded in the most famous Bermuda Triangle. The goal is to survive against…

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Lost Sea's visuals accompanied by the fantastic soundtrack make the hunt for tablets and finding the way out of the Bermuda Triangle, enjoyable. The randomly generated islands and the skill/upgrade system help improve the replayability of the game. Having said that, the island's procedural layouts do very little to make them feel different from one another, and the skill system never made me feel like I was progressing as a character in meaningful ways. Luckily, for those who can look past…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A good little roguelike hack and slash. The graphics are cool and colorist, but even though there isn't much diversity of elements to see, demand excesive hardware or the screen can freezes causing the deletion of the save file if program is closed by force. Also have another issue, the Keyboard only can be binded by editing a file (check Steam forums). Very simple mechanics: by getting experience and gold coins, player can unblocks skills, space for inventory and crew that works as powerups.…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →3/10 you go around collecting crew members that walk behind you, each with different powers. My problem with this game is they get stuck on the smallest blade of grass and you have to back track ALL THE TIME!!!! Just to recollect crew members. If they are not following you when you leave to the next island you just lost them When you meet new people it doesnt auto send them back to port so if one of your guys dies before you get back you could replace them. You can send them back to port by…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I really wanted to like this. Most annoying part of the game is how you can attack your crew. That means you have to move very carefully so they never step in front of you. What a pain in the ass. Even without that the combat is simple. Run up, hit, run away. Lost Sea really needed more character mobility. You can unlock some but they still feel stiff. Also enemies have invincibility frames after getting hurt so you can't spam attack which slows down everything. There's not enough variation…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Way too repetetive. You do the same things over and over without having much fun. Fighting is dull and there is no real motivator to boot this game up again after playing it once. 15 bucks is way too much for this lackluster game. Cant recommend a game I didnt have much fun with.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I think we've all been there, had one too many drinks at the office Christmas party and woken up in the Bermuda Triangle. After waking up on a beach as one of the many available characters you must find your way through enemies and puzzles to find all the tablets, recruit crew and hopefully, get off the island. For my full review check out the link below :) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CRh3NsDkkog This is a great game with decent graphics that harken back to the glory days of the…

When we were going through our separation, I felt lost and unhappy. I was self-destructive. One day, I was so angry with everything spiraling out of control that I punched a concrete wall in a moment of overwhelming emotion. This resulted in breaking my fifth metacarpal in my right hand—the hand I worked with, played games with, and used to carry my children to bed—the hand…

I don't normally enjoy games with perma death, however, so far it's been fun to play for a short while and is worth the price I personally payed. I don't know how many more hours I will get out of it, but think it'll be fun to load up now and again! The item slots are frustrating as you're only allowed one item at a time…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Lost Sea is an indie action adventure that features some lovely visuals, procedurally generated levels, an absolute ton of loot to collect, and a combat system rather evocative of the old Zelda series, though a whole lot easier and simpler than that. With all of that said, its also worth mentioning that Lost Sea is designed with a more casual audience in mind, so if you're a hardcore fan of roguelikes you will find very little for yourself here. On the other hand, if you're looking for a…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Default control settings - got to edit a config file - no problem Permadeath - ok, maybe, but first fights can be quite hard, no blocking or shield or escape move Gaphics are pretty refreshing and action can be tricky. Fights quickly become a bit of a fun challenge like a fight in Zelda - you have to get a good strategy for each enemy kind. Will update my comment upon further playing.

unlabelledView post →The forced perspective camera for this game actually made me feel sick. It's just tilted at completely the wrong angle forcing you to repeatedly rely on the map in order to orientate yourself in the undistinguished landscapes. A top down or third person perspective or variable perspective would improve this game significantly overnight. That said, after four hours of playing, I felt I was doing nothing more than I had already experienced in the tutorial island for no particular reward or…
