60 of 65 · most liked firstI came into this expecting an adventure game with combat focusing around assembling words, and while that is *kind of* what it is, it didn't quite hit the mark. What the 'puzzles' actually are are an opportunity for jokes- assemble a word, if it's one that works you see a small scene play out and things progress, if not, try again. It's not a puzzle as much as it is 'select the funny you want to receive', which... can be charming, but overall ended up feeling like a let-down. Little polish…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I don’t want to suggest against Leximan, but I have some strong feelings about it that I hope will be addressed. The game has charm, and I played through the entire game on Steam Deck without issues. While this game might not be for everyone, it has me looking forward to more from this developer. If you're interested in my detailed thoughts, I encourage you to read on. Leximan has potential, but it's held back by a lot of rough edges. I unlocked 22 achievements in about 12 hours, including the…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →In short: awesome. The story kept me guessing what's going to happen next. Never a dull moment with the gameplay as it introduced many mini games that connected well with the story. My favorite: getting to unlock the „Character moments” . The music simply, splendid! 10/10 🦊
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Leximan is a fantastic and fresh game. It takes a lot from Undertale and Earthbound but it is still a unique experience, with a lot of humour and strange characters. For everyone out there who are looking for something to play on their Steam Deck while enjoying their holidays, this is the game for you!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I just wanna start off by saying I like this game. But it is fundamentally flawed by being almost completely unrealized. I bought this game because I thought the premise looked really really neat. And you know what? The premise is really neat. You’re meant to combine little fragments of letters and words to create some sort of narrative or move in the game. This is either to solve puzzles or dialogue options or anything else. Unfortunately the game feels almost completely unrealized. The…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Definitely worth buying and trying if you like games like Scribblenauts! Such a cute little game! You can tell the devs put so much love and time into it :) Really funny and it actually has secrets to discover!!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Leximan is a charming little game, it has loveable characters and a nice retro vibe. It's not long, and at points I felt like fleshing out some of the side stories would've really helped elevate the game, but overall it felt satisfying to play. There are some visual bugs (such as characters supposedly being in a room with you and talking to you but their sprites are not present, or the opposite of that issue) and points at which the direction of game-play could have been a little clearer,…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is less of a game than a series of minigames, and the whole thing comes off as less than the sum of its parts. The core concept is clever, but it is almost never actually used in the game outside of carefully scripted jokes.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A fun, creative little game. It knows when to wrap things up and stay out of its own way. Apart from one minigame, nothing felt like it was going on too long. A good time.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →So far really enjoying the writing and the impact of dialogue options in both the story and the battle sequences (why add water when you can just add more fire to a burning wizard after all! :D ). And I love the ragdoll animations during specific events happening in the first hour! The game works really well on any resolution tried, all the way up to 4k. Soundtrack is decent. The only minor annoyances for me are that the controls feel a bit odd at times: it is much easier to just right-click…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A truly delightful and fun game made by talented people! The soundtrack gets special marks for being an absolute jam and a vibe. Absolutely recommended for anyone!

I played for about two hours and called it quits, for a large portion of minor problems, with a select few listed that I personally feel are the most readily noticeable and take umbrage with. Note: These are largely opinions, and, as stated previously, I did not finish the game and have since refunded it, so some of the opinions I did list may not show up later on, or they may be worse than expected. Please…

I cover a wide range of genres both paid and unpaid, providing unbiased opinions as well as regular giveaway events. Video Review https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z1oLN6Zca2M A hilarious little narrative magical adventure At first sight, Leximan does not appear to be particularly fascinating. It's not trying like most games to be overly visually appealing, and it's not exactly a "Game" in the…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →As a language nerd I was excited to get this during early access, and it's been a blast so far! With game mechanics that remind me of Undertale and a sense of humor that brings me back to West of Loathing, I think this game has a lot of heart and potential -- I can't wait to see how it develops! I think more can be done with spellcasting options (sometimes you can create real words that haven't been planned for by developers) and there are some sections that could use some polish, but overall I…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A fun little romp through magic and whimsy. The storytelling is wonderful, the characters defined. I can't wait for the Jhonko spin-off.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Very creative game about a "word mage".
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game legit had me busting out laughing. The gameplay is beyond addictive and it's like nothing I've ever played before. I highly recommend if you enjoy games like Undertale or Everhood. I hope to see more from this dev in the future.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Nice little game, could use some more polish. The game teaches you in the beginning about battles where you put words together as spells, as well as the ability to use word spells out of battle too. You mainly choose word spells based on plot/text clues, and I feel like battles early game didn't really change from battles late game, you just needed to read the story to know what to do. I felt like word spells out of battle was more for discovering secrets and easter eggs, than for progressing…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Honestly did not expect the game to be THIS good. I wanted to give it a shot because of the Undertale-esque look, half expecting to not go past one session. Now I'm 9 hours in, not fully done, and really not wanting it to be over. Great humor, super fun game mechanics, literally several genres of games integrated into one. An absolute treat.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Just finished the game (true ending, natch) and I had a lot of fun with it! Genuinely funny, surprisingly heartfelt, and constantly unpredictable! The basic gameplay is basically an adventure game, but the genre shifts frequently with lots of minigames and hidden secrets. The basic iteration of the main "combat" involves picking word fragments to form a "spell," which is always fun, especially if you go for the funnier options. Not everything will work out (of course!) but the game does reward…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I cleaned my bathroom, punched a kid, apologized to his dad, made breakfast, started a fire, tag teamed with a golem, slapped the principal in the face, and called him a noob, and that was only the demo. Edit: I have now played enough of the full game, that I regret writing my review on the demo. This game is fantastic. Edit 2: The game has yuri.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →this game told me off for trying to romance a fire elemental, made me build a whole tower then immediately destroyed it again 10/10
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I thought for sure that the target-audience of this game is people that pretend to have mental disabilities because they think it makes them more cute/interesting. "Yeah I was diagnosed- I took a test online." Turns out, the game is actually funny. And fun. A shocking turn of events. It has some of the classic RPG tropes in the first few minutes. >Multiple-choice answers that don't make any difference. >"THAT'S your name?! What a DUMB name!" >Go, choose your item! (only 1 item is…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Unfortunately, I can't really recommend Leximan. The core mechanic is basically that you build words from sets of letters in encounters to help resolve them. This is presented as being very creative, but usually there are only a few words you can make and even fewer that will progress or resolve the encounter. The choices made this way are also not really meaningful in most cases, usually just changing a single sprite in the overworld if that. You can also use the Lexicon to freely type…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →When I first picked up this game, I wasn't expecting too much, I thought it was gonna be a one and done thing that was neat but really short. Instead, I was pleasantly surprised, the game itself feels rather long despite its length, with a good amount of memorable moments and an overall pretty good vibe. The fights feel rather creative and the occassional changes to pace were welcome, even if some took a bit to get used to. I can see someone playing through this a few times to try and see what…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →IDK how to express in words about how good this game is and how much it's in my heart right now. The only thing I can say is that it was so worth it skipping doing my HW for this game :)
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Fantastic game! Hilarious comedy that I didn't expect. Every time I think that I will be "breaking the game" by creating a joke word the writers have a scenario for it. Great to have a game that doesn't punish you for being silly ^^ Great for easter-egg hunters and I am looking forward to watching the story unfold. I wrote this to offer some constructive consideration too - I genuinely think this would be a clever way to practice learning a new language. Perhaps worth adapting? Thanks for…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Such a fan little game Great humor Highly recommend to fans of Undertale
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Made me laugh in the introductory section, which is always a promising sign. The demo was good: it was a strong enough way of selling the game it's mildly sad it's not still around, though I get the logic of why not.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →What a delightful little game. Though I expected the word-assembling to be the main mechanic, this is actually more of a collection of minigames than anything else, and I'm OK with that. In the 4 acts (most of which are split up into two sections), each features a different type of minigame that sticks around for a bit, doesn't wear out its welcome, and then it's on to the next thing. Your penalty for failure? Try again. It's essentially impossible not to complete. Note, though, that…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →At first glance Leximan may look like another word game, but it's far more than this. In fact it's a retro 2D graphic adventure set in a crazy world of magic, mayhem, friendship and fun. Leximan endeared itself to me the more I played it and I've got to say it is a bit special. The graphics are cleverly done. Although Spectrum-esque in their appearance, there are some gorgeous visual effects used to set the atmosphere. For example, there's a forest adventure where a subtle glow and mistiness…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Incredible game. Leximan is a light hearted humorous word puzzle game that fills in the hole that Scribblenauts left in my heart long, long ago. The writing is consistently funny, the puzzles are satisfying if not very challenging. The minigames thrown in to add spice to the game are very welcome. That is not to say the game is perfect. There is some jank, occasionally words are missing out of sentences, animations don't play properly, and the music will disappear. However, despite the…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The supposed central mechanic of making words from fragments doesn't really seem to matter. Whatever word you make will generally have the same outcome. Play this for the writing if you like it, but it's not really a puzzle game and I didn't find it fun or rewarding.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Nothing could have prepared me for the first hour I have played with this game. I am scared, yet curious
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game has literally made me laugh out loud several times. An absolute gem worth picking up.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Loads of fun and very funny.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Leximan Holy shit this game is funny, the alternate answers to encounters legit make me want to play the demo 4 more times this shit got jokes and their good can't wait

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Incredibly funny and a must play for all UNDERTALE fans. Doesn't take itself seriously from the start and continues to do that during the whole game. Very love-and memeable characters. One of my all time favourites <3

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Liked it very much!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Good game, Like the characters and Story. Shame the whole write words to affect the Overworld kinda goes out the window after the first hour or two.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It wouldnt let me shag
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I only reccomend this game on a sale. It's main gimmick needed to be used more. It's whole thing is based on forming words from floating letters and seeing what happens but after a few hours it seems to have less and less funny results, so i was a bit disappointed.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Nice little game full of funny surprises and different (mini-)game mechanisms despite expectations. You can tell the small dev team loves what they are doing. Well worth the time spent playing it.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I don't think it's -better- than Undertale/Deltarune, but I -enjoyed- it much more. Cute, silly, compassionate, and none of the gameplay gimmicks in each sequence overstayed their welcome. A good, tidy experience I'm glad I got to share.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game is clever, fun and has an intruiging story line. It also does whatever it wants in regards to what genre it is, and has as much ADHD as I do. 10/10!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →the game is cool and fun i tried to play it when it first came out but wasn't able to play because my pc's language was Turkish and didn't let me cast spells that had variations in turkish like I being İ in Turkish which ultimately led me being not able to go past the tutorial of the game which makes you write "FIRE". I then changed my pc's language to english but because of that all my accaonts resetted and whenever i didnt played to game i had to manually change the language again for a…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Almost good. The charm and wit of Undertale, but with less engaging gameplay and generally more of a slog. And I didn't even like Undertale.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Solid, well paced, fun narrative game. Cute, fairly simple, good humor. Don't expect intricate combat, encounters are more narrative puzzle type beats. Satisfying experience, will be keeping an eye out for the next project, whatever that may be.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Its a good game but not my thing. It was nice at first and I don't know if it truly gets better later but I thought it was cool at first when all the goofy stuff IN the first tower happened but as soon as it burnt down I didn't like it as much. Might try it again later but for now I will refund it. You are an extremely talented dev (or dev team. Either way) and I wish to see you continue your journey and make more games like this. Very creative too. Just got this game months later. It is cool…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I wishlisted this game in 2023. I saw that it came out. And after remembering how great the game looks, I bought it. But now I'm refunding the game. Even though the graphics and the gameplay are great. Because I can't play it. I have spent an hour trying to fix the issue of not being able to cast "fire" in the VERY BEGINNING. I have sent bug reports both to their support e-mail and website. But I'm not going to wait for them to respond. ( As of I'm writing this the game is straight up broken.…
