I played it on a Steam Deck and the experience is really good. The game runs smoothly, the controls feel natural, and it's perfect for playing at home or on the go. The story follows the movies in a humorous LEGO way, and there are plenty of characters to play with https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3742379249

I had no prior experience with the Lego games and Im enjoying this quite a lot. I think it helps that I like the movies. Speaking of which, this is how you do movie tie ins (a rarity nowadays) full of wit, funny moments and doesnt take itself seriously. Imagine how boring this would be otherwise. I cant wait for my son to grow a bit older and play in co-op with him :)

There isn't much LOTR material for us fans and this is a must-have, nuff said. If you've ever played a LEGO game (as of 2026), you know exactly what to expect. But now it's with Lord of the Rings. It's awesome.

If you've played a LEGO game before, you already know what the gameplay is going to be like. It's simple, easy, and clearly designed for kids. The combat is basically just button mashing your way through enemies, the puzzles are straightforward, and you're never really in any danger of failing. And honestly...that's perfectly fine. What surprised me most was just how well they adapted the movies. I was expecting the usual LEGO-style retelling, but they actually use the original dialogue…

Game has a lot of fun moments and the overworld is beautiful, story is well done with appropriate amounts of lego humor, but the amount of bugs in this game make it quite a frustrating experience if you want to complete it for the full 100%. Examples: invisible walls, platforms you unexpectedly slide off, the character switching showing unexpected behaviour, and there are known bugs/glitches that will halt your progress/end your run completely if you happen to be unlucky. I have gotten stuck in…

LEGO The Lord of the Rings is easily the worst LEGO title I’ve played. The game is absolutely riddled with bugs. Quest items fall through the floor, platforms are blocked by invisible walls, and scripted events fail to trigger, forcing restarts. It feels like the game is constantly trying to softlock you. These aren’t isolated issues either. They’re widely reported. Across multiple forums including Steam and Reddit. In my 20 or so hours the bugs I have come across include but are not…

Better than the Rings of Power-- Open world Lego game that lets you explore different parts of Middle Earth, (Examples include: Shire, Mordor, Mount Doom, Helms Deep, Rohan, Cirith Ungol, Minas Morgul, Gondor, Bilbo's Trolls, Weathertop, and Bree). For a Lego game there is a lot of detail for example Frodo's sword Sting glows when around orc enemies and stops when they are defeated. The soundtrack by Howard Shore comes directly from the movies and is not earning bricks listening to various…

LEGO® Bob™ Official Review: This game was buggy as hell. first lego game i've played that made me use the cheat codes to 100% the game. Story is great since it follows the 3 main movies, levels are not too long but the free play feels like a chore. There is no red brick to help you locate the hidden treasure in each level, so even on your free play run you can still miss treasure. HIGHLY recommend looking up a guide for each level before you load in so you can know where to grab them. 6.5/10

would I recommend this game? NO, absolutely not. Is the game content itself bad? Well, if we can assume you'd only be reading this if you are fine with legos/lego-story style games/movies, then it's probably fine in that regard. Then what's wrong with it? BUGS. Bugs everywhere. Not sure if it was a rushed console port (there were definitely references to the same game on xbox/ps) or Tt just cut a lot of corners on quality control / made little to no patches after release. General movement is…

Let me just say that I don't have nostalgia for this game. I only played LEGO starwars as a kid. That being said, this game is actually really fun and polished. Plays smooth, uses some audio from the movies, puts a funny spin on a lot of scenes from the movies. It's a great LotR game, a great LEGO game, a great game. Really fun. Also I played more hours offline on steamdeck. That's another thing. It's steamdeck certified, (I play it exclusively on deck) and is perfect for deck. Controls are…

The game is buggy. I have to reset the 14th level because I accidentally equip two of the armors on Frodo Baggins. It is less of a bug but more of a feature that should have been in the game for convenience. Level 14th is the 3rd level I have to reset due to a bug. Level 9th and Level 10th are the two before. I have to beat the big ass spider again, I have to achieve true adventurer again, I have to spend 30 minutes trying to complete a level again because of a minor mistake I made. I spent my…

Lovely experience! I read that many people had crashes, so I decided to try it on my old 2015 laptop. I played this on my old laptop (Core i3-4005U, GeForce 930M, 2GB RAM). So far I didn’t get any crashes on both old laptop or PC, but there was a bug/glitch for me on the level “Battle of Pelennor Fields” where my Legolas got stuck inside the Oliphant’s legs/body when I jumped to the rope, so I had to reset the level. Honestly more fun than expected I was in the mood for a LotR game and even though this is basically a kids version of it, i feel it scratched the itch You'll probably get the best experience out of it if you have someone to play with in coop mode, but even played solo it's good stuff Downside is it's a bit of a half assed port to PC, uncomfortable controls that completely ignore the mouse, a few bugs, occasional crashes Nothing that prevents it from being playable, and very much enjoyable

The game had potential but in the end I have to give it a thumbs down. I remember playing Lego Star Wars: The Complete Sage back in the day on XBox. Thought it was a pretty good game. This game, however, was a let down. If you're getting it on sale to keep in your backlog and probably never play it, get it. As a huge Lord of the Rings fan, I really enjoyed the experience. The use of voice lines from the film are to the games advantage and disadvantage as you get a more accurate depiction of the films with the cost of very little to none jokes during the cutscenes. The 100% journey I'd say is somewhat worth it, though it is made up of heaps and heaps of fetch quests. This is the only LEGO game I have fully finished, and it feels somewhat satisfying for it to be this one. My only major gripe is that…

As a longtime fan of the Lord of the Rings movies, I wasn't sure how well the story would translate to a game for younger audiences. But playing LEGO Lord of the Rings with my 6-year-old has been an absolute delight and a great way to introduce them to Middle-earth. The game captures the epic scale of the films while wrapping it in the signature LEGO charm and humor, making it perfect for family game night. The best part is how the game manages the more intense parts of the story. Rather than…

In the golden days of youth, when the world was still wide and filled with wonder, there came a tale not penned in parchment nor sung in ancient tongues, but built—brick by shining brick. That tale was LEGO The Lord of the Rings, and to me, it was no mere game, but a gateway into the legends of Middle-earth. From the peaceful fields of the Shire to the broken wastes of Mordor, the game faithfully echoes the great journey of the Fellowship, capturing the majesty and heart of Tolkien’s world…

A really enjoyable game, especially if you’re a fan of the movies or LEGO games. The gameplay is fun and the game works really well on Steam Deck, where I had a great experience playing it. The graphics are definitely starting to show their age these days, but they still have plenty of charm. When you look at the potential of what a LEGO game can actually achieve, this is probably as close to perfect as we're going to get. If you are on the fence about this one at all, get it. The game structure coupled with the voice acting make it feel more like a story driven game and less like a game about running around and breaking things to collect blocks.

EDIT: My opinion changed a bit, I would give this game a mid vote if I could. This game is a collectathon, but if you have glitches that prevent people from collecting everythint, then you messed up. I had to use some codes to fix my collectibles and it still left me with a missing thing. That's pretty bad. The rest that I said originally still applies though. Very good game, excellent for split-screen co-op and it runs well even on a toaster. After the second level, it will start crashing unless you are running it in Windows 7 compatibility mode. Right click the game in your library, then click Browse Local Files. Right click on LEGOLOTR.exe and click Properties, then go to the Compatibility tab. Turn on compatibility mode, it will probably be set to Windows 7 by default.

Not bad, I received it for free so can't really complain. The gameplay is that of a typical lego game, and the story follows pretty accurately to the movies, albeit in a silly lego way. I did have two annoyances. One was my settings never saved, so every time I loaded up the game I had to redo them. This game relied on twitch gaming (precision platforming) more than previous version which is just frustrating for elderly players like myself.
