60 of 185 · most liked firstwhile it was admittedly kind of fun, it's also mega overpriced for what is essentially an overdrawn series of fetch quests without anything substantial to really back it up, outside of the building - which even then, while kind of cool and it's interesting you have to work within limits imposed, eventually it just becomes tiresome even regardless of how creative you can get with it, because sometimes things just don't work. there's a grand total of twice within the 100% experience where you…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Got it on a whim and didn't know what to expect but it ended up being underwhelming. I saw it being described as a puzzle / metroidvania, but it isn't that great as either. It's slow paced with too much time spent on roaming and dialoguing before you get to build something. It usually doesn't really matter what you build, you're given a selection of parts and a limited area size per build but other than that it doesn't feel like anything you do has any consequences. Most of the things you will…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's super refreshing to play a LEGO game where you actually have to build stuff brick-by-brick to solve physics puzzles. Constructing bridges and machines while worrying about structural integrity is surprisingly deep and scratch-that-itch satisfying. Sadly, the controls are a massive pain, and trying to place pieces precisely in 3D space gets frustrating real quick. It’s incredibly charming, but the clunkiness keeps it from greatness.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I was looking forward to this one, but I was extremely disappointed. I don't know how they managed to suck all the fun out of a LEGO game. It does look nice. The free form building is interesting at first, but it's more tedious than rewarding. The story is dull; it's not captivating at all. The jokes fall flat. While it has a nice presentation, it's just extremely boring.

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Exceeded my expectations I have just completed the game (you have to revisit all lands after completing the story to get 100%), and I am glad that the few negative reviews I read did not convince me otherwise. The time passed quickly, as I was invested in the tales and did not find the game boring. The camera movement is not a problem, as you can view the places from a bird's-eye view. And even if there is not much space for being creative, you still have some chances here and there.…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Just was not fun, the building felt like more like a chore than fun puzzle solving.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →⭐ Rating: 7 / 10 LEGO® Bricktales is a charming and creative puzzle game that focuses on building solutions brick by brick inside beautifully designed LEGO dioramas. The game feels relaxing, imaginative, and very true to real LEGO play, encouraging creativity and problem-solving rather than action. However, the experience can sometimes be slowed down by awkward controls, uneven puzzle difficulty, and repetitive exploration, which may frustrate some players. Overall, it is a fun and unique game…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The building phases are a bit tedious, but with a game like this I can't think of a better way to set it up. Game is nicely made, decent graphics, it's basically a RPG you run around and build things + progress through a storyline. Collect animals, etc. Has a sandbox mode, and more. Not a bad little game, kid friendly, it's nothing like the other LEGO games really, instead of ARPG style where you progress levels and collect gems etc. You instead venture through levels/floors and solve puzzles…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Very addictive gameplay. Simple controls, fun for adults and children (recommend 8+ as requires apt keyboard ability, and decent reading skills). Beautiful graphics, satisfying scenes. The background music is very relaxing. Some of the builds are a little more tricky as there's not always a huge amount of guidance. Enjoyed unlocking new bricks and outfits. Had a lot of fun in the Christmas land building a snowman. My husband found the accurate physics, that resulted in the sleigh…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Fun to play with kids, various puzzles allow to be creative or make you to build in tricky conditions. Additional secrets encourage to explore each tile of every location. Sandbox mode invites to return and re-build the puzzles with fancier look. Meanhwile, I played with kids 8 and 11 years old, and some builds were tough for them, even I as an adult found a couple of puzzles challenging :) For future projects I would recommend to add more hints/explanations for kids (e.g. how to keep…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I don't know who their target audience is. The control scheme seems like it's for an 8 year old on an ipad, but the difficulty puts it at at least 13+ Starts fun enough, gets worse as you go. Looks pretty at least.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It was... fine. I really love the idea and being able to build with actual legos is the pinnacle of what a lego game should be. But, the actual execution here is pretty clunky and frustrating. The controls often don't do what you want them to do, and outside of the building part, the free-roaming sections of the game are also much more railroaded than a typical lego game. I found the powerups to be underwhelming, except for the last one. Also, if you want to have collectathon aspects you really…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →4/10 itttssss a slooowww ridddeee heres a level with 20 things to do in it, you can do two of those things. come back later when you have more stuff. + building system + puzzles - all the rest of the gameplay - cant jump - cant run - 30$ price tag - only 6 worlds
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game is deeply frustrating. On the one hand there is a fun, gentle puzzle adventure that has you exploring different themed Lego worlds. These are fun, if somewhat slow-paced mini-puzzles. Find all the rabbits, collect all the doughnuts, find your way from one end to another. Occasionally you are locked into a puzzle room without being able to switch your special powers and you have to find the correct sequence of events to solve the room's puzzle. All of this is tremendous fun! But…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Very relaxing game, but recommend to buy only when it is on sale.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The game is a completionist nightmare. The game has a ridiculous amount of back and forth walking. The power abilities are annoying because you can only carry 1 ability at a time causing you to backtrack to get a specific ability for obtaining the collectables in a completely different area. It's very time consuming when you can only walk and there is no faster mode of transportation. This could have been been avoided if they had implemented an ability wheel to select what you need after you've…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The building mechanics are straight-up awful. You can’t rebind the keys. There are no rotation keys, and the block movement keys are miles away from the up/down keys. What’s the point of this? Hotkeys aren’t even shown in the UI—you have to dig into settings to find them. Zero QoL features, and the toolkit is just as bad. You can’t leave blocks floating mid-air to attach support lines later. Every new block must connect directly to existing ones. No multi-select. No copy-paste. No block…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Wasn't very engaging and overall felt slow and clunky. At no point did I really want to play more. Buy on deep sale if you really want it.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I love LEGO. At first I felt a bit bored, but I gave the game a chance and finished it. Honestly, it’s pretty good not bad. The idea of being able to build however you want and be creative is great. it’s better than being forced to follow a specific design. Some parts of the building process were a bit frustrating, but overall the game is decent. I just wish it had been better.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →For me, Lego Bricktales played more like a Lego bridge-building simulator than anything else. While it has some neat ideas, the execution unfortunately falls short in several areas. The Pros: Interesting Concept & Design: The core idea behind the game is quite interesting, and the small diorama-style hub worlds are lovingly designed and full of charm. Character Customization: You can customize your own character using pieces unlocked from the different worlds. Whether you want to look like a…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Playing this with my four year old son. He's addicted.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The story isn’t trying to blow your mind, but it gives you a pleasant backdrop while you explore each biome. The building challenges are the star. Even though there are boundaries, the game lets you get weird, clever, or over-engineered with your solutions. Solve a puzzle, explore a bit, unlock a new area, repeat. It’s the kind of game you can pick up for 20 minutes and feel good about.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Such a tedious game. Moving around is so slow and there is now real awards for it, unless you like the building feature. The last achievement is also ridiculous. What makes this frustrating is this game has clear potential. If the game allowed more freedom and the builds were less tedious this would be great.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A game for family fun, full of goodness and positivity - classic Lego, but now on Steam.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Very fun game with lots of space for creativity. Buy on sale though.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Good, but minimalistic If you like story-driven LEGO games, this one may not click well: It's focused on building things and solving puzzles The story exists just to make some sense But it has nice building features, the graphics looks great, and it will entertain your inner child.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →My 4 year olds died of boredom. They just kept asking when will actual game begin.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Love it. Lots of building with constraints before you unlock more creative bricks. I wish there were an export feature. When you play Bricktales, note that there is an ability-switcher wheel you can access by holding the tab key. For some reason, the game's tutorials never tell you this.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Dissapointing, thought I could play it in vr if I got it off of steam, I was wrong
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It is remarkable just how many games based on the famous LEGO brand have been released, yet how few of them actually feature building as their core mechanic. Over time, LEGO games have become synonymous with a seemingly endless stream of adventure titles set in the worlds of DC (playing as both heroes and villains), Marvel, Harry Potter, Jurassic Park, Middle-earth (based on both the good and bad films), and—of course—Star Wars; there was even a LEGO game based on *The LEGO Movie*. Yet,…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game is very endearing for avid Lego fans especially IRL Lego construction. Though it is at its core a puzzle game where you have to solve problems in shapes of obstacles or even plain marvelous figures to satisfy the story. I always dream of modern rendition of Lego Creator, aside from Lego Worlds and Lego Fortnite, this game proves that we desperately need another sandboxed build-your-own constructs or maybe take another steps further and let Lego games explore other concurrent gaming…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Bought on a discount, looked like a fun lego game where you can actually build with legos on your screen instead of having to empty your wallets at a local lego store. It is fun; the puzzles are pretty simple so nothing to worry about difficulty wise. I haven't finished it yet but so far my favorite part of the game has been the desert area. There's building but you have to unlock bricks as you go along and there isn't any SNOT building yet so it's not a lego building sim (not sure if one of…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →There is a sense in which a game achieves greatness by being the best example possible of the game it set out to be. When a dev team achieves their aims so perfectly that there is literally no way that the game could be changed to improve it while still being recognisably the same game with the same vision. In this sense, Lego Bricktales may be the greatest game ever made. Unlike most Lego-branded videogames, Lego Bricktales understands both what it is to play a great videogame and also what…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →C (Fiddly controls, found it surprisingly difficult)
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I bought this on sale thinking my wifre and or kid might like it. I tried it and it is very bad. It seems like the whole premise is to build exactly what they show you? I do not really know as I did not make it out of the introductory part. If another family member plays it and likes it I will update this review, but I would not waste $ on it.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →If I had this as a child, my hour count would be in the hundreds. Insane how much creativity this game envokes, from a person who has hypophantasia. From a creative standpoint - superb. From the mechanical side - iffy. Even thought there's a lot of creativity involved, it's sometimes limited (not talking about sandbox) on what you're allowed to do, whether it be because of available pieces or the limited area you're allowed to build in. In which case it becomes more like a puzzle game, than a…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Building anything is an absolute nightmare. Its not fun in any way and will just make you mad. Avoid. edit: Still a ♥♥♥♥ game no mater how many hours you play
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Although the building part of the game was fun, the other aspects felt like filler and really unnecessarily enlongated the experience. I pushed through to 100% Bricktales, but woulndt recommend to you to do the same.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →If you like bridges, damn I have good news for you.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Game is so aggressively mid, tedious fetch quests and building. not fun at all
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →6/10 Bricktales is a solid middle of the road experience. It's nothing special but it's also not bad. I wouldn't recommend it at the full price, I grabbed it during the latest 90% off sale and to be honest, that price felt about right for the experience. There isn't a lot to really say regarding the game other than it would have benefitted from a proper "sandbox" level where you could build anything you wanted using all available pieces. However, even without that, the game is fine enough…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game doesn't take too much strategy or skill but has a fun story line to follow. Playing the game through for the main story is pretty straightforward, then if you choose to try to 100% the game, it just requires you to wander around all the worlds again after finishing the main story.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Pretty fun little physics bridge builder game. Captures the ethos of Lego better than most of the old travelers tales games even.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Way too slow to be enjoyable.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Its not what I expected. Its just a series of physics puzzles without any development of techniques in an organic manner. No guidance on what pieces even do or how to use them. I just cheesed the first few puzzles, then hit one that I have NFI about. There is not even any hint system, and everyone seems to suggest to just look up solutions online. The story is pretty simplistic, the controls arent the best, and the movement is awkward. Just not fun,,,, Refund requested.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Bricktales is a genuinely enjoyable puzzle game that nails the visual side: each area is crafted like a real LEGO diorama and looks absolutely stunning. The physics-based building mechanic adds a satisfying layer of thinking to every construction, and five unlockable abilities keep things fresh across the game's worlds. On the downside, the brick placement controls can feel clunky at times, some tutorials are unclear, and there's no quest tracking for secondary objective which can leave you…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Yeah I enjoyed this. Sometimes the snapping is a bit annoying. This idea would be grand for a VR title, where you could touch the bricks sorta like in reality. A significant portion of the builds are bridges, the figure builds are very limited in size. Creative mode at least gives you more pieces to actually build somethingmore than functional with. To complete the game, you have to go back to levels after getting all the special moves, this felt like padding for playtime.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Great game to play with our 6 year old - nice difficulty curve with the puzzles.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →An addictively challenging game, with the fun of Lego building.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →not for me, feels very clunky with the controls. Only did a few sections and already was bored and frustrated with how unresponsive it felt. A rare miss for a lego game as I usually enjoy these quite a bit. I don't see myself coming back to play this again
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Bricktales sets itself apart from many other Lego themed games in its integration of building freely as a core component of game progression. Lego is not just an aesthetic skin for the game to wear. Aside, it is a charming little game. I also never thought I'd see the day that an officially licensed Lego game would run natively on Linux. Big props to Clockstone and Thunderful for taking a proper multiplatform approach.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I think it's generally a pretty alright game. Fun puzzles and great graphics in the lego style makes it pretty fun! I do have some complaints, but most of them are personal pet peeves and minor issues, which is why they don't really change my overall rating of recommended: The controls can be pretty annoying. Showing your minifig around with your mouse works just fine, but trying to use the arrow keys feels nearly impossible due to the game only ever showing one angle at a time. When you're…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Absolutely terrible controls (Xbox controller or mouse+keyboard) make building and exploring a frustrating chore, and in my dictionary "frustrating chore" is the absolute opposite of "fun".
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A few very obnoxious sections which im sure will get worse as the game progresses. Go from point A to B, change power, B to C, perform action, C to B, change power, B to D, perform action, D to B, change power.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Really fun, as a Lego fan this is a fantastic game to explore your creativity. Awesome singleplayer game
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It can be a little simple at times but the puzzles get more difficult as time goes on. There could be a more clear instruction on some of the builds, but it is still very fun and simple while staying engaging.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Most puzzles are loosely constrained, bite-sized sandboxes, where you can sink as much time as you want, but ultimately lack any real challenge; I sort of wish they scored you depending on the cleverness of the solution; the ones I really appreciated were the physics-oriented ones, but they are few. Then there's the metroidvania-ish, collectathon aspect, for which I couldn't care much, after an already lengthy "main campaign". Ultimately a recommend for Lego fans, not so much for hardcore…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A very respectable effort at bringing the joy of building Lego into a video game: it's more construction-based than Lego Builder's Journey, and its sumptuous dioramas look almost as good. With some admittedly awkward-at-first controls (at least on mouse and keyboard), you explore various Lego builds in isometric view, where you come across points where you are placed in a blank slate for building certain structures, like bridges, ramps, vehicles, or cranes. It's absolutely great that once you…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Not super complex and at times not very interesting, sometimes even dead boring, but it sure is just a super relaxing time building Lego in a very satisfying way in a very satisfying game. Great game to fall asleep too. 7/10
