It is an online multiplayer game for one-on-one matches, but multiplayer is dead. It is originally a smartphone-game, while there is a "pass&play"-mode for two players on one phone (screen), but forget that on PC when the opponent is not allowed to see the positions of the Assassins. Anyway, if you don't have a friend to play it with the game is pretty useless. I'm also…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The game is good if you have someone to play with. Otherwise move on: Negatives: the AI is horrible and cheats (it will arrest your assassins even if it has no way of knowing they are the assassins. the knights will move past bystanders and go for the hidden assasin directly.) No was you can play it in single player mode The game will kick you out lobby if you alt tab out of it. Since there is no good chat function in the game and you want to write to your friends on messanger . Guess what?…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →DO NOT BUY ANY GAMES FROM TWIN SAILS INTERACTIVE (rebranding of Asmodee Digital). I encourage you to check how many bugs their games have, and how little they care about fixing them. Go stroll over their products and the bugs reports, but most importantly, the developer's reply. They have the habit of releasing stuff and strolling to the next product without ever looking back. I have personally written six emails to their official Ticket System, spread from March to now, asking for…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Multiplayer lobby doesnt have option to make a private game and game autostarts when someone joins so you have to hope your friend is the first to try to join your game. Luckily there is almost no one playing so its not that hard to get your friend in. One of the two maps glitched out the same way for me in both the games i played on it. An assassin i selected switched to a peasant then a random peasant switched to assassin. I won the round because of it, but that just made it worse since it…

Mechanically, it functions pretty much identically to the board game, so those familiar with the physical version will grasp all the mechanics easily. The game itself is fun, but this version of it has a lot of issues. King and Assassins is clearly designed for multiplayer, yet no one plays it. This leaves you with…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A board game remade to PC - which for my lazy self is a solid (and solitude) idea. Think of this game as Game of Thrones Season 2 - where Joffrey is trying to get through the Town Streets to the Red Keep. It's a fairly simple premise; if you play as the King, then your goal is one of two things: * get the King to the Castle * kill all of the opponents assassins if you are the Assassin's team: * kill the King Simple idea, but complicated when it comes to its strategies. The King is…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Stop asking me if I want to play online after every single game.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A stones throw away from being an absolute gem of a game. With the addition of a few more maps and some more flexibility in unit starting locations (I.E. let players have some choice) this game would have a lot more replayability.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The game is horribly unbalanced. It's almost impossible to win as the King. In addition to that, the AI cheats. And yet, even if they randomly arrest an assassin in the first round every other game, that's not enough to win when AI plays the King. Maybe this is fun against another player? I'm not sure I want to try any more.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It is a great little and quick strategy game with one huge flaw. The AI is terrible. That wouldn't be so bad if I had been able to find an opponent. I can not recommend it as is.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →i bet the board/phone game is better as this is a fun quick game. the rogues do have a big advantage and unless you can arrest one before they go all stabby the king WILL die! p.s. the ai clearly knows where your rogues are. you'll need to make an account to play online (i hear its dead anyway) so they can sell your info to "trusted" 3rd parties because private servers are so anti-3rd party. playing as king/knights here you lead a pompous a$$ of a king that is so weighed down with gold from…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I normally think people are being silly when they say this, but I legitimately feel like the computer is programmed to know more than it's supposed to in this game. Playing the assassins feels impossible because the knights will go out of their way to go arrest a "random" citizen (really one of my assassins) who literally has not moved the entire game. No matter how many times I play, I get frustrated feeling like this is the case. Fine game if you wanna play with real people, but the practice…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Nope! Deffinitely not. Crap-load of bugs (every round you will encounter plenty). No sounds options (either have them or not). You can't enter settings if you start the tutorial. Absolutely no randomness (even in lobby you pick which side you want to be on). Only two maps. Overall, the idea might be good, but the exectution is beyond poor.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →https://youtu.be/8voFjjl2C8A Instabilities in the matchmaking and slow response time to input does not present the base game in a positive light.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It was fun as a short strategy game. It could be much better. Almost no replay value due to comments already made. No campaign. AI is broken. No one is online to play. For pass and play, you have to hide your screen between turns. Also annoying you have to sign up for an account for online features that don't exist.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Fun game, poor implementation. On my second game with AI it got stuck and wouldn't finish its turn. I had to surrender.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →"King and Assassins" is a mobile app that's been dumped on Steam as if it was a real PC game (it's not)... it's a cash grab from greedy mobile devs. This mobile app looks like it might be some kind of deep and interesting tactical turn based strategy, but no, there is no limit to just how much mobile app developers can disappoint the gaming industry. This is just a simple boardgame that's been ported to a mobile app and then dumped on Steam as an afterthought/cash grab. Gameplay consists of…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Terrible game. Single player, the AI thoroughly cheats as both assassin or king. Multiplayer is dead and bugged.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I can see how this would work as a board game. The problem is that this is essentially a bluffing game, where the way you can guess which peasants are the assassins is through the facial expression of the people moving the peasants. But that doesn't really translate to a video game at all.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Watched the tutorial and then played some practice games. AI cheats/is broken, because it knows exactly where your assassins are even if you have not moved them or they are nowhere near the king. Limited replayability options.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is an example of a game that's substantive enough to be a board game but doesn't really work on the computer. By making a lot of the administrative stuff easy, this game boils down to essentially a shareware puzzle. I haven't encountered bugs on this game, so much as it suffers from very dominant strategies. The guards always conga line peasants away in masse; the assassins simply mob the King. There's two boards, which means that the game can be played perhaps five times without…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →200% recommendation. This game is great fun whether you're playing against online or against the computer. A very rare example of a simple premise that challenges you to think outside the box, vary your tactics and think 4 or 5 steps ahead.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →There is really no playing this game because you can only play with friends that have the game. There is no online play, which confuses me because it shows a rank board and looks like it should have some kind of rank play set up, but it doesn't exist? I got to play the tutorial...woop woop. And that was it.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →King and Assassins is a king vs assassin murderer game. The objective for the King and his knights is to get the King to the Castle Gate within 15 turns and not get assassinated. You have 7 Knights and 1 King. The objective for the Assassins is to kill the King or delay the game for 15 turns. You have 3 Assassins whom you can hide among the villagers. Gameplay-wise, it's all LMB. As the King, you start the game with only 1 Action point meaning you can only move 1 square at a time. Later on,…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →3/10 need to make a Asmodee.net account to play online almost no content in this game
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The game itself is really cool. It's assymetrical strategy game where on player must protect their king while traversing the board while another player has to hide their assassins within the civilian mobs until their time to strike. It's well enough implemented and I enjoy the core play. The problem is that this digital adaptation designed for multiplayer, and the multiplayer is dead. For a solitaire player there is a single mode against an AI player with two boards to choose from. While fun…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →There are many issues with this game technically, but I would recommend getting it if it's on sale and you have someone to play with. The game itself is small and simple. Based on reading the other player's intentions each match is short and entertaining if you aren't looking to invest in a longer board game. The problems are the digital port and online matchmaking. There is no one online so that's a problem from the start, maybe because when you have a match up and change to a different tab…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Good game, but servers are pretty empty. Fun if you have some friends you want to play with. After a few games the rules seem to favor the assassins. But that just makes winning with the king that much sweeter.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Not worth a tenth of it's price. 2 setups, simple gamellay, empty servers (for a time my friend and I were the only people playing). And it still managed to crash a few times.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's a game for you and a bud. Grab a bud. Maybe even two buds. Show your buds a good ol' time with this bud pleaser. Strategy meets buds in this budacious ol' time.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The AI you can play against just sreight up cheats if you are playing the assassin. It will just pick out your assassin's to arrrest even if you havem't moved them all game. haven't tried online, but the game seems very bare bones.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I recommend "Lost Cities", "Odin's Ravens", and "King and Assassins" as solid two player games. The first two especially are so easy to pick up for a quick game
unlabelledView post →Game is simple to learn while player can still have fun. Setbacks are: 1. There are only 2 maps so limited playability 2. When playing against AI, your hidden assassins are "detected" automatically as they can be captured in first round (4 villagers within range and hidden assassin is arrested always first on first move) 3. There arent many players online (due to reason 1.) so you are limited to play with friends (still fun) but again maps are small and there arent multiple ways for game to…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →[My first ever review, and it's a negative one - I felt that strongly that I had to say something] I played through the tutorial, and plaed several games as king and as assassin and got no where really as either. Not sure if the AI knows something I don't but everytime (as Assassin) the guards shackle all of my assassins (when not revealed) regardless of whether I have moved them or not and have never shackled a civilian by mistake (whether moved or not). As King, there is no reason to use…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →the game is SO SO SO buggy when playing multiplayer it felt like they failed at even coding the basic multiplayer implementation.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Boring game nobody plays.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The good: - Graphics are good for the purpose - The game is well optimised - The digital adaption is well done The negative: - Controls are a bit wonky when controlling camera with keyboard+mouse (and why can't I end turn with enter?) - Only two boards means very limited replayability - The AI is only for training. It's quite dumb. - There is zero activity in online games (!) - No local vs. mode, which makes game unusable in combination with the nonexistant online community. If there was a…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Neat little concept that requires multiplayer...no one plays this game.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I played 4 rounds with a good friend of mine. We each went 1-1 on both the assassin and king side of the game. I have zero issues with the balance, but perhaps after a few dozen plays I might be able to pick something out. Too many children picking this up and uninstalling after 1 practice play, also they need friends. Get some friends. Playing against the AI is sad.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A very quick uninstall. The dynamic here simply doesn't work. And the game-play is so out of balance.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Funny for some time but doesnt seem to complicated
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Too light. One play through is all it takes to understand all that the game offers. A second play through would be too much of the same for me.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Interesting concept. I wouldn't make assassin able to move between guards so easily. Although, the game says that it has a "Single-player" mode, it only has two stages for training only. This is not what "Single-player" means. On top of it, doing the "training" keeps telling me i had enough training and i should go play online and create an account which i'm somewhat "pressured" to do so. I am not interested in creating an account. I've paid for the game, i want to be able to enjoy the…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Simply not enjoyable. Basic and bland. Not every board game translates well to the digital medium.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Conceptually pretty neat, but unfortunately I am always having to re-learn the game every time I play.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Solo or pass and play work fine. Game is broken when playing multiplayer online. Additionally, game has no written rules to read, only a playthrough tutorial. No rules reference or AP cost reference in game making playing difficult.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I don't mind the digital adaptation but the game itself sucks
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Another board game I have not played. What I did play of the game was playable.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Fun little 1V1 game with an easy to learn set of mechanics. Biggest problem i've seen is the random disconnects mid-match.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's a short game. It's enjoyable to match wits. My kids even the six year old win sometimes against me. I have yet to see anyone waiting around for a game online though, but I'd like to try against another adult.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Multiplayer is dead, not that you'd want to play it anyways. AI difficulty seemed fine but hoenstly 1 game is all I really needed to get my fill.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I'm feeling quite negative: - Bothers you to play multiplayer after every single-player match - Doesn't remember your single-player match settings (there's only a few, but still...) - Only has volume toggles, not sliders, so everything is loud af
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Simple and interesting premise, but should have included more tilesets to play against the AI.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's a bit too simple
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Dull against the AI and no one plays it so not useable for multiplayer
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Boring alone. Haven't played with a friend, can't recommend.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →After playing against my girlfriend for 5 games in a row as the king, I decided I wanted to try assassin. She immediately arrested 2 of my men and I rage quit out of salt. Very fun.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →great for online friends loads quick, looks nice, simple to learn hard / hard to master
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Another Asmodee game where a major element of your success is random chance. Protect the king but go six rounds without the chance to arrest anyone? Too bad. I suspect the online play is better, but playing against the AI is rigged. The last game, the AI made 4 arrests, 3 of which were my assassins, deftly picked out of the crowd. Clearly the AI has access to knowledge it should not. Boo. Stick with chess. 3/10
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The miniscule amount of energy I had to exert in my fingers to play this game is not worth the bland unenjoyment I felt for it.
