negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Aaargh, this game! How can you love something and hate it at the same time? That is this game, right here. It's so close to being an awesome game and yet, so far... so very far. It feels so incomplete, so, "Beta test". The character models are abysmal, mainly in Multiplayer. Where are the textures for ships? Just flat color everywhere... and the interior textures look like panels from a 1980's hotel lobby. It is as-if they got the game up to a point and then just left it there. So much to…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Good concept but poor execution. I loved the first 6 hours of gameplay breaking the learning curve but then the nonstop barrage of bad design wiped me out. Being wiped because turret CPU turned off while attacking a grunt is a game ender. Terrible ship controls, no reliable targeting system, ability to teleport to a station but not teleport back to the ship, etc. Normally I'd dredge through all of the bad design to reach lategame content but being rendered defenseless for literally no reason…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Unfortunately this is full on abandon ware. What was once a ambitious space game is now a desolate mire of bugs and instability. The forums are filled with dev posts stating they released 1.0 and therefore have no obligation to repair any flaws in their code. so the squids will remain glitchy, UI will lag making it difficult to complete objectives, and event points will spawn in planetary objects that will be impossible to interact with. This is the kind of complete product the executives of…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Its dead. Though I am not sure it was ever alive.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Is this game abandoned now? No updates for 2 years now and terrible bug where you get rep loss for parking outside and eventually your ship is destroyed for no reason. Cant recommend this game especially since it hasn't been updated for almost 2 years now.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Not finished and no longer being worked on, save your money
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Developers abandoned the game.... There hasnt been an update in over a year and the game is no where near finished. I really enjoy building ships in this game however that is about where the fun stops. There is nothing to do once you build a ship. Game is very empty. The ship builder is fantastic though and you can really let your imagination go wild.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →You can still buy this abandonware? Steam should be ashamed.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This whole game feels like Abandon ware at this point in time. You get no support for dedicated server issues from either their website or discord servers. Documentation is woefully outdated, referring to steps that was removed years ago. I deeply regret buying this game to play with my friends on a dedicated server at this point.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →DO NOT BUY - Abandoned I picked it up hoping it would develop into something worth while, but I can't even start a game.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →GAME IS ABANDONED , GO CHECK "JUMP SHIP" on Steam Similar gameplay being worked , had a demo but not released as of 09-07-25 , maybe its out now? go have fun!
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →WARNING. ABANDONWARE
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Developers cashed out, said its a finished game and just left it alone to die. No more bug fixes, patches or anything. Very disappointing.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I bought this game several years ago, with high hopes. It was a fun game, yes. For an early access game, I loved it. Sure, it wasn't perfect in singleplayer, but it worked. After several years of silence with plenty of bugs and what feels like an empty game, I sadly don't recommend people purchasing this game anymore. I hate to say it was wasted potential, but it sure feels like it was.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I hate to give a bad review, but I must. The ship building and interaction is fun and has hidden depth. Yet, at this point it is basically abandon ware. They had the option to make a great game but looked for a pay day. The Developers claim they are working on things, but no updates come. I loved the design and the building.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Game is no longer receiving development/support, riddled with bugs and next to no active players. Highly suggest you look elsewhere. It was fun while it lasted.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game is very underrated. I've played Elite Dangerous, but this game, tough the graphics are outdated, has allot more under the hood then most space games. System management, players can take roles as a crew member in a self made ship, You can actually recreate any spaceship/crewrole in the SF universe. It's best to play it in coop. You can still enjoy the game by yourself, but it's easy-er to devide tasks. It does not compare to space engineers in any way. The ship editor is a top down…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A pretty neat spaceship sim, with a detailed ship builder Making a little fleet with your friends and claiming a corner of space was fun Too bad it has become abandon-ware, or "finished" Can only wonder how cool this game could have been
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Nice game, had promise, but it's abandoned so i would not recommend to buy due to this. If it was free or cheap, then it's not a bad game to play.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Great game, however is also Abandonware
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It is astounding that only 12% of players have killed a Skrill Grunt. Or only 7% of players have opened a Rift! Yet there are so many Negative Reviews. I started my own dedicated server, and I must say, it was easier than some other games I have set up a server for. And then in the span on a couple days I spawned into my server, and began playing the game. I mined resources and built my own ship... A ship of 3 decks, and an asteroid mining station none the less. I then figured out…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Game is not being developed anymore. There are still many issues, and they are not being fixed. I still love the ship editor, and do burst of times in there, wishing the game kept going, but sadly, outside of this there are too many issues. First of all, joysticks are absolutely not supported in any ways or form, for a spaceship game. Combat is very very bad. To the point where it's only playable by putting the game in some kind of creative mode. Community is also pretty dead,…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →dead game, no updates since just after release even so clearly wasn't ready, needs alot more works and bugs fixing.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Game isn't bad for early access ... too bad it claims it isn't anymore. It is still missing elementary features like e.g. undo and redo in the ship editor. And is chuck full of bugs (even game breaking ones). So much so that I thought it was still in EA after picking it up, till I realized the version number with the fat 1.0 in front. It has the making of a nice game, but not with those features missing and those bugs, don't buy till those are fixed, and I have little hope they'll ever will.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →abandoned by devs 2 years after release
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →For starters, I'll give a quick review in case you don't like to read. The game is good at what it does, but it also lacks on several things. Now for the breakdown, in case you DO like to read. Interstellar Rift is a good game for several reasons: ~~The main one being how well it runs on nearly any machine even when combating swarms of enemies or multiple enemy ships (in PvP) ~~The Enemy variety is pretty decent, and encountering several types at the same time can result in death (kaboom)…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Imagine a game where you can design your own ship and basically play Freelancer with it. Instead of arduously placing one brick at a time and minecrafting out a ship, you use an elegant design tool and simply save your designs. You then more or less play a Freelancer-esque game to get the materials in order to build bigger and better ships. Requirements drive your designs and the ships evolve for each situation. You can design a space station and have it trade with NPCs or players, you can…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's not focused on exploring. Without the ability in solo to turn off life support I find this feature tedious. I was looking for something more casual. There's a command console but godmode doesn't prevent death from no oxygen. I wasn't looking to fly a ship and refill oxygen over and over. So this is not for me. There should be a management tag on this since it's focused on that. I refunded. If you're looking to build ships and explore Avorion will suffice but unfortunately you can't walk…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →do not buy, abandonware
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I thought I could do a space walk in this game, and it turns out, you can't. I figured out that "asteroid mining" is just using a machine that collects the asteroids in the area, and you're not really chasing the asteroids to break them apart much. The UI and pretty much everything else is pretty interactive. I wish I could enjoy this game, but I just don't. I feel locked inside the ship.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →First Thoughts I was always interested in space games, when I was looking for a new game with my best friend and stumbled upon a ship building and space exploring game, it was an easy choice. The more we played and the further we progressed, the more the initial hype and interest started to fade away, due to the lack of other players and repetitiveness of the game's core. Rating 5.5/10 🌟 Positives [✔️] Detailed Ship Building: The game offers an extensive ship-building system, allowing us…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Interiors and inventories are very well done. Metagame and combat are far too basic and completely underwhelming.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Unfortunately this game is deader than my great grandma. It hasn't received an update in ages, most, if not all servers that you can readily access are completely devoid of people, and it doesn't have particularly many feaures. It's just a little too simple to be realy quite as engaging as something like Stormworks or Space Engineers, which is quite a shame, as the game seems like a pretty darn promissing concept.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Can someone pick this game back up and continue development? There is so much potential for this game. I like the idea for a more Co-op/ PvE type of play. Hirable Ai to do specific duties and have them susceptible to damage that will need both food and medical when needed. Oh the joy it would be.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A game of great promise lost down the drain of time, do not buy unless you got a good deal of friends willing to jump in and start a faction style pvp server competing with eachother. To preface, this review is more of a postmortem than anything else, I haven't touched it in a great deal of time but there also hasn't been any new content updates or balance patches between then and now so most of what is stated should remain true. This game's main draw is its ship building control scheme /…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The ship designer is amazing. It is like an improved and modern version of the old ship designer from Shores of Hazeron. The feeling of walking around a ship while it is travelling through space is similar to that game and even Star Citizen. I like that contrary to Space Engineers, the ship feels like a whole, instead of a combination of blocks. The missions are ok: your typical trade/gather/hunt missions from space sims. I like the fact that (at least in-system) the travel is "real". You…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →On the one hand it's really great how you can construct ships here, but on the other hand there is basically no game that I would consider as such. From my point of view, this is just a ship crafting box with boring gameplay after that. Could have been a lot more.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I enjoy this game. My friends played it through with me up until we got to the last critter. We got our $$ worth in that play through. Ship design isn't too difficult and there are plenty of things in the designer to make the ship you like and want. There are PLENTY of ships in the workshop if you need ideas. It is a sandbox game, you can try to get to the maximum loyalty with all the factions, all the good factions or just the bad faction. You can hunt down the Queen. You can build your…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →First off to note: This game is pretty much "Complete" as far as the devs are concerned. There have been no updates in almost 2 years as of this writing. That being said there are SOME bugs i've found, but nothing game breaking. Few inventory issues. I'm only 30 hours into the game so far so take that with a grain of salt. As far as the game itself, it plays fairly easily however it should be noted this game DOES NOT HOLD YOUR HAND. This is a SANDBOX game. You have missions, you can build…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Look, first off, this "program" has the highest quality and (relatively) simple ship building mechanics on the market. That said, it's just about the only enjoyable feature. If you want a ship building editor that allows you to design your dream ships and then transfer that design to a drawing or just have something cool to walk around in... go for it, on sale, because it's great for that. I've tried to get into this game for a full legitimate experience 5 separate times and my tolerance for…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This feels less like a game and more like a sandbox... which would be fine if the thing wasn't presented like a survival game. The tutorial is half-baked at best, so you're not gonna know how to do damn near anything, the singleplayer mode basically locks out most of the content (as any decently sized ship needs at least two or three people to function), and god help you if you try to do combat (or get attacked, for that matter!) in a ship less maneuverable than a fighter, and with less…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Best ship editor I've ever had the pleasure to use. I'm not going to claim this beats some other games... you aren't gonna be walking around planets or anything outside your ship or a station here, but designing the ship is just amazing in this game. It lets you do things like clip light fixtures into some of the equipment, so for example you can end up making a lamp on the side of something with what is normally a standing light fixture, something I could never do in certain other grid…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The game is no longer developed. If you are looking for a space game where you can build ships, bases explore planets, mine, craft and so on, try [url=store.steampowered.com/app/383120/Empyrion__Galactic_Survival/]Empyrion Galactic Survival Its much better and still in active development. Interstellar Rift had so much potential but has been abandoned. I do not think it will be resurrected. Time to move on. ** our of 5
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's an interesting game, one that appeals to my enjoyment of building, but it's still feeling a bit bare bones. It should've remained in Early Access, than assume it's done. Not entirely sure weither or not I got my money's worth yet either, but I'm going to keep at it and make sure I did. I may have been better off just getting Space Engineers. :/ At least some of my friends play that.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A game that could've been good let down by the developers. I've given this game a good go a few times on the main servers, but it's killed by a lack of attention & consequent lack of players. Game is abandoned by devs (who seem to take a ♥♥♥♥ on the wall approach to releasing games, having a decent amount of games with interesting ideas abandoned), and feels almost eerily quiet with an all time high of 27 players in the last 30 days. Shame.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Needs more NPCS and Life with an update to the skybox. ok now that the wishes are out of the way pretty solid 7/10 game. haven't gotten super into it deep or even remotely finished it yet so that could change still. I think it could be a absolutely solid multi-crew MP space game for sure. Captain = check, Crew, ammo loader & engineers = apply today!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Something about this game that brings me back time and time again. Love the devs are still working away on it so I nominated in this year's (2021) Steam Awards. Love the music. Love the flying through space. Build your own ship. Love it is MULTIPLAYER - The way all good games should be. Love the ship gets damaged and needs repairs when in a fight. Have even watched quite a few live casts. Hope they keep going, an interesting Space game but better played with friends.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I don't get people here. A released game means it is done. Everybody say "abandoned aware". Do you ever bought a playstion 1 game said same thing? Released means the development is finished. However. I am sad this game did not get the right attention it needed. So far I know 3 students were working on this game until the release with some patches after it. Interstellar Rift has some unique things I liked. You can design ship always everywhere, when you have the resources for it and "update"…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Its on sale right not for €4.87 Its still too expensive.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Ship building, alien shooting, explosions, trading, factions, some exploring, all the good stuff. Other players are (mainly) friendly. The main restriction is higher tier resources from higher tier systems are harder to find. For those wondering, there are unlikely to be more updates as the game is considered "completed", so that means not early access, not alpha, not beta, but a complete game. Fun and worth playing ? Yes.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I admit, I came onto this game a long time ago in 2020. Considered it another Space Engineers clone and moved on. I could not be more wrong in that assessment. Really only recently have I gone back and appreciated this game with new friends working together. Even if the physics are jank as hell and make no sense sometimes it kept getting better. Now I feel the game can stand together with SE, as the builds have charm to them. Everyone has their own colors their own hulls, and while SE has that…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I really liked this game. I wish the developers were still working on it. It has so much potential to be great indie game. I still jump in a and play once in a blue moon. the ship editor is so cool and their are so many nice builds for ships or bases on steam. This game inspires the creative types to build amazing things. I don't know of any other space game that allows you to build your ship, inside and out, and allows other players to share space in your ship to battle or mine or be the…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is pretty much the definition of "we have Elite: Dangerous at home." Yet if it's an Elite: Dangerous knock-off, why does it have such a great, full-feature interior ship-building and design system that allows for individual module placement? To be honest, it may be worth a purchase just to play around with that. You can design the ship of your dreams...then fly it around in a lifeless galaxy.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I believe this game has the best system out there for ship building and multi-player. The way it's made, I could totally see entire fleets of ships being in one area without lagging the heck out of everyone since the only thing it needs to load from any ship/station other then the one you are on, is the hull's shape. It's a brilliant solution to the problem EVERY other space game would struggle with. The way it handles crews in the ship is also fantastic. What's more, I seriously think this…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I wish it was more, but I couldn't put it down for weeks.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I've just started playing, but I'm already annoyed enough to pretty much put the game down until I can muster up enough patience to try deal with the annoying controls. The normal player movement control scheme is annoying enough, but just forget using a controller/joystick for flight. From what little I've been able to find on the issue, for the last several years it been something of a "we're looking at it" problem which they're apparently blaming on being hard to implement with the game…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Needs some work. But a great game.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I really like this game. I wish there were more people playing online. The ships have lots of displays and devices to control things so that multiple people can be useful at the same time on the same ship. Things would be easier if I had a companion to help run my ship. Fighting NPCs (pirates and aliens) has been very interesting, with your ship shaking and fires breaking out as devices get too damaged. I recently installed sprinklers in many of my ship's rooms to help combat that. Using…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →1. Resolution is a mess - The image won't scale to the dimensions of your screen so some times you'll see only the middle and some times you'll see only the sides of it. Heavens knows what is controlling it - it's sure isn't me. This is a recurring bug with some players' systems. 2. Once you ran the game once there's no way to close the app via steam or the task manager short of a total logout of windows. *Edit*: Claimed to be fixed, remain to be seen and tested. My specs are more than…
