Only because of the price I will not reccomend anyone to play this game because base game provide you almost nothing and you have to pay for every plane. Crazy staff. I understand everything but the price for all DLCs is around 1k euro! For that price I can by an used car or pay for my house. Dear 1C Games - are you crazy? This price is very big. Despite that fact that I like your previous games but this is nonsense. Your previous game with all DLCs - Il-2 1946 was costing around 20 euro total.…

I must preface this by saying that I do enjoy Il-2 Sturmovik, I always have. My relatively low hours do not mean I am unfamiliar with flight simulators or the broader World War II wargaming experience. When I was getting further into gaming during the pandemic and, more specifically, got a machine that could run it, Il-2 was very high on my list of acquisitions. Unfortunately, I cannot currently recommend the game. Il-2 suffers from many problems, both inherent to the genre and unique to the…

DO NOT BUY THIS FROM STEAM! BUY IT FROM IL2.COM! There is no offline mode in the Steam version- no internet, no game that you paid for. This is going to be unplayable 10 years from now just like Crysis 3 thanks to the defunct Origin servers.

As a game it's just not very good. Career missions are autogenerated and suck so much. I can't imagine anyone playtested this. Like, you'll get a mission, intercept recon plane or some such. OK, great. The recon plane is flying at 5k and you start on the ground in a Lagg3 or Yak1. There ain't no way you are catching up to that plane, and will just be chasing it for an hour before you give up. It's just so frustrating, but hey, at least in this mission you had something to do. In other…

Huh.. I am genuinely surprised that War Thunder is adding infantry. The end result kinda looks like serious milsim Battlefield? Wild considering that War Thunder started out as an IL-2 Sturmovik spinoff and was retrofit into a F2P game. You can still find some of the old campaign missions in there!

I want to write a positive review for this game, but I just can't. It's got great bones but it suffers from some pretty glaring problems. Firstly, the cost. It suffers from what some have called "DLC-itus". To play this game currently you'll have to shell out the same cost of about three AAA titles on top of the cost of controls. The second biggest problem is the actual "simulation" part. There's lots of little broken problems that stack to create an experience that will put off most casual…

    - Russian company (official twitter said "defund ukraine) - Busted flight models for some russian planes - No important WW2 staples like drop tanks and heavy bombers (not even as AI only planes) - terrible AI, the only tactic the AI knows is to turn continuously. It's not the worst game ever but please only buy Il-2 and its DLC's on HEAVY discount, otherwise you're supporting some bad people AND getting ripped off.

The game itself is good: the physics are solid, the graphics are great, and the VR performance is genuinely impressive. BUTTTTT, the quality of life is horrendous. It is honestly one of the worst disasters I have ever seen in a game. Device compatibility is a mess, there are constant bugs with bindings, settings, configuration, and so on. You may end up spending hours, or even days, troubleshooting and digging through forums just to fix one simple issue. Once you finally get everything…

I literally have no idea how to even take control of the plane, I tried everything and I can't figure it out. I don't know what I'm doing wrong but it's just unplayable for me. Now that the developers have listened to the players and reversed their decision to make the game online only I can leave a positive review without any qualms. It's a great game and if you're into planes, sims, WW2 and/or history you will sink many hours into this one. The monetization scheme is a nightmare at first sight, but considering how steep the learning curve is, the base game alone will provide many hours of fun. And just when you think you may just be ok, the AI, or a teammate, will RAM into you, or pop a 20mm through your head and make you cry. It is an awesome game. Do yourself a favour, save some moola and get a HOTAS and at least TrackIR. the difference will blow your mind

Not enough content for its huge price tag, the ai is booty crap, and you are limited to very few planes. On the other side, the graphics are almost perfect, the flight mechanics beat most modern flight sims, the planes have detailed interiors, and the damage model is crazy. I could go on about the explosions or the voicelines, but i dont think this is worth the price. I love almost everything but its absurd price. Not the best place to spend your 100$ steam gift card; go buy ten other games.

IL-2 Sturmovik: Battle of Stalingrad is a visually stunning flight simulator with incredible physics, but it ultimately fails to capture the sheer scale, freedom, and endless replayability that made IL-2 Sturmovik: 1946 the undisputed king of the series. As a game, it is definitley not worth the price at full price. And the DLCs DEFINITLEY not. As a game it's subpar. The missions are terrible without the PWCG, timescale only goes up to 8x instead of 16x like in RoF and the career mode is mid at best. This game might surpass war thunder in how touchy the planes are. You can touch the ground for a zeptosecond and your plane explodes for no reason However, as a tech demo kind of person, I love the flight physics and damage model. The damage…

probably the best combat flight sim available in the market as of right now, but it suffers from the outdated graphics engine, especially when it comes to rendering aircraft against the ground or at a distance there's instances where an aircraft will render out of view unless you zoom in due to some weird LOD shenanigans, and although i like the game, it's not enjoyable being in the middle of a fight and suddendly losing track of the target because they went over a city or trees, making their…

This is the preeminent WW2 combat flight simulator. If coming from War Thunder, and you’re considering this, this is what you have been missing out on in terms of fidelity. This title, ‘Battle of Stalingrad,’ is the foundational game in the Great Battles series. Access to other campaigns, such as ‘Battle of Normandy,’ is locked unless you have this base game. Arguably the best WWII flight sim available right now. Detailed damage models, realistic flight controls and a dynamic career mode that can be a lot of fun. Yes, they're going to nickel and dime you on every DLC, and the campaigns being an additional ten bucks is super annoying. But IL-2's main competitors are DCS and War Thunder, and even after you buy a DLC or two, IL-2 is still just a better value. Also, the sales on steam bring that cost down a lot.

100GB download that offers almost nothing in return. The base game is essentially just a generic quick play mode; every actual story, campaign, and mission is locked behind a DLC paywall. On top of the greedy monetization, the game is incredibly slow to load. Coming from IL-2 1946 I find the FM in Great Battles to be more forgiving, contrary to what I've read. I'm not sure it is because GB is more arcady or because it's control is smoother and more responsive, I find it easier to land and less likely to stall in. Perhaps 1946 simply has poor controls? Never flew in real life so I can't tell. I get it that Difficulty =/= Realism, or Ghost 'n Ghoul would be the most realistic game ever. Sometimes it just bad controls. As to the AI, yeah I think it…

Great game although expensive for planes and can be difficult to get multiplayer running when wanting to just play yourself and a friend. However the game itself and the VR is an amazing experience. Many other players along with myself wish the "making a server for 1v1" was as easy to do as it is in DCS. Lesson to be learned here for the Developers of BOS. You make an amazing game but cannot make the setup simplified and easy to play alone with a friend. Come on man.....!
