Hotel Rwanda
Inspired by true events, this film takes place in Rwanda in the 1990s when more than a million Tutsis were killed in a genocide that went mostly unnoticed by the rest of the world. Hotel owner Paul Rusesabagina houses over a thousand refuges in his hotel in attempt to save their lives. From TMDB

unlabelledView post →I’ve mentioned this before, but we chose to go to Hotel Rwanda on a first (and only) date. The movie was too much to process, so we both just warn him after and never talked again. She was a friend of a friend and, I assume, lovely.

unlabelledView post →TCM Pick of the Day: Hotel Rwanda (2004). With a stellar cast that includes Don Cheadle, Nick Nolte, and Sophie Okonedo, this film was based on the real-life story of a hotel manager who saved more than 1,000 citizens during the Rwandan genocide. It impacted me more than any film I can remember.
unlabelledView post →Not really a breakup story, but for a first date, we decided to see a movie and went with one that we were both interested in. We chose to see a Hotel Rwanda on a first date, and then never spoke again.
unlabelledView post →One of the student workers stopped by to say he's watched 4 movies in the past 20 hours. One of them was Hotel Rwanda. He stopped by the circ desk to ask, what was the movie I mentioned last night that came out the same year as Brokeback Mountain? So now he's going to watch The Constant Gardener.
unlabelledView post →I handwrote a 5 page essay, in class, as part of my final on the movie Hotel Rwanda. I have never seen Hotel Rwanda. I got an A
unlabelledView post →I read once that in the DVD era Hotel Rwanda was Netflix’s most profitable movie because it would come up on people’s queues when they weren’t paying attention and then sit unwatched until they either sent it back. Anyway, I’ve been interested in the war and I’m probably going to watch it.

BTW, I viewed my favourite thus far, Taiwan White Terror-era "A Foggy Tale", from a circle seat at the Hong Kong Cultural Centre's Grand Theatre. Like I previously memorably did for "Hotel Rwanda" and "Bubble Fiction: Boom or Bust".

unlabelledView post →I had a first date with someone to see a romcom, and, when we got to the theater, she said she wasn't in the mood for that and she really wanted to see HOTEL RWANDA. That was NOT a good date movie.
unlabelledView post →See the film Hotel Rwanda to learn how we actually have a terrifying amount of power right now if we chose to use it. No one sees the power because it hasn’t been fully used yet. It’s there. We have it. ♥️🤍💙
unlabelledView post →"Hotel Rwanda", because she was a Don Cheadle fan. Good movie, important movie, but man does it take the mood out back and shoot it in the head.
unlabelledView post →Most awkward movie you've seen on a first date? I'll start. Shakespeare in Love. Not as bad as Hotel Rwanda.

unlabelledView post →OT, but have you ever seen Hotel Rwanda? Besides Cheadle's spell binding performance it's also a movie that very much does NOT make Western Whites the Saviors of anyone. And the scene with Cheadle and Nolte is just devastating.
unlabelledView post →I have a movie idea it's like Hotel Rwanda meets ten things I hate about you.
unlabelledView post →i think of it as: If every movie I watched for 2 years was Schindler's List & Hotel Rwanda - I'd stop watching movies Those might be important, but I also need "dumb" movies like Avengers or Star Wars in my life to appreciate them, too

unlabelledView post →I rewatched the movie, Hotel Rwanda, today. It shows how one group of people was brainwashed by the media of the time, into a rage that murdered a million people.
unlabelledView post →Watching...Hotel Rwanda is a very good movie.
unlabelledView post →My most formative political film experience was watching Hotel Rwanda in high school. Contemporary Issues class in an alternative highschool where our textbook was current newspapers. Teacher was an ex-juvenile defender lawyer who spent several years following the Grateful Dead to every show.

Kagame has promised to accept undocumented immigrants deported by the Trump administration. You know what he'll use them for.
unlabelledView post →They taught us nothing in school!! Actually they just hid our history and white-washed it! Extremely powerful film. From genocide of the Native Americans, the persecution of the Jews and The Hotel Rwanda...put it all together. Need someone with a platform to share.

unlabelledView post →Hotel Rwanda My sister and I watched it, and we didn't speak a single word as the credits rolled by. Amazing and intriguing movie; I don't want to see it again
unlabelledView post →The only one that comes to mind; where it was a good film but I would not choose to watch it a second time, is Hotel Rwanda. ( I saw that with a church youth group, and I'm starting to think some of them did need to watch it a second time.)
unlabelledView post →There’s a line Nick Nolte’s character says in the movie Hotel Rwanda. I’m not going to repeat it, but it wrecked me when I saw the movie in the theater and it still haunts me today.
unlabelledView post →But what would you choose if you had to choose an EXCELLENT, top-notch film? One that was simply too emotionally difficult in its subject matter or plot to revisit a second time? The OP wasn't asking about bad movies, imo, but the great ones. Eg, Hotel Rwanda, Schindler's List, Shawshank, etc.

unlabelledView post →The very first thing that came to my mind as probably the most impactful movie I’ve ever seen is Hotel Rwanda. Then on the complete opposite side of the spectrum, but still extremely impactful and important to me, I would say Everything Everywhere All At Once.
unlabelledView post →Hotel Rwanda (great movie, not for a date, also I was the third wheel)
unlabelledView post →Given my knowledge of all the terrible shit humanity has done for power, we’re in a bad place but no where near being buried alive. Only if we can fight back though. I highly recommend the film Hotel Rwanda. Only reason Rwandans were saved was bc of Rwandans.

unlabelledView post →I didn't cry as much again as much as a result of viewing a film until I watched Hotel Rwanda at the Hong Kong International Film Festival some years later. I cried so much then that I was emotionally numb and couldn't really have an emotional reaction to the next film I viewed at the fest...
unlabelledView post →Good to have this as a reminder to think about heroes. The living person whom I admire most is Paul Rusesabagina, whose sheltering of more than 1200 people during the Rwandan genocide of 1994 (dramatized in the movie Hotel Rwanda) I see as a model for doing the right thing while surrounded by evil.
unlabelledView post →I once took a first date to see Hotel Rwanda, also not the right film for date one.
unlabelledView post →this is not as triggering as Hotel Rwanda. Hotel Rwanda was the start of the genocide. This film has to do with a British woman wanting to know her African roots after finding out she’s a survivor who was basically smuggled out of Rwanda by a YT woman (adoptive mother) as an infant.

unlabelledView post →Rewatched Hotel Rwanda (2004). What an utterly gutting film. An incredibly grim reminder of how quickly and violently things can turn when hate is being preached on all the media around you and viscous people are handed guns and told they can cleanse society with them. Kept thinking about ICE.
unlabelledView post →Gorillas in the Mist, Schindler's List, Elephant Man, Hotel Rwanda. Like Kids, they all left me hating people after I saw them, even if the movie itself was good.
unlabelledView post →Watch Nick Nolte's rant scene in in the bar, in the movie, Hotel Rwanda. That's why. Sad.
