60 of 96 · most liked firstHostiles (2017) Scott Coopers brutal revisionist western begins with a cliche “Indian” attack & the remaining film deconstructs it. The westward expansion & genocide of the Native Americans is portrayed as psychopathic. Everyone is broken by the violence. Christian Bale’s racist soldier most of all.
unlabelledView post →A pretty good article about Hostiles before tonight’s #hatm viewing! The movie starts at 5pm PST. See you there! ictnews.org/archive/host...
unlabelledView post →I do want to know which movie though - Duck Duck Go’s suggestion, 2017’s ‘Hostiles’, is probably incorrect. The IMDB goofs section for that film doesn’t mention anyone searching for a nearby hospital on the internet in 1892.
unlabelledView post →Not for Halloween viewing but I'm also a big fan of Cooper's HOSTILES - a western where every time someone tries to do a cool western thing it goes disastrously wrong. (His Netflix movie THE PALE BLUE EYE *does* work for Halloween but I didn't love it or review it.)

He was #BOTD on 2/28/1972.
unlabelledView post →Thanks @herberthistory.bsky.social and #HATM!! Hostiles is an excellent film and it is very much reminiscent of the style of The Missing with Tommy Lee Jones and Cate Blanchett. Dark subject matter, but beautifully filmed. Everyone have a good week and stay safe out there!! Love you guys!! 🙂🙂❤️❤️❤️
unlabelledView post →Hey #HATM peeps! 👋 It’s good to be with you guys again after a tough national week. As a Trans woman, I’m obviously scared of what MAGA has threatened to do to us. Thus, the movie is a welcome distraction. Hostiles is a good movie, but very dark. Hope everyone is hanging in there!! 🥹🥹❤️❤️

unlabelledView post →Hostiles is damn near a Scorsese film with nearly everybody dying and all. Just missing Leo DiCaprio and one of the Wahlberg brothers, lol!! 😅😅 #KilledEmAllOfCourse #HATM
unlabelledView post →The movie is called Hostiles. The theme is right there. But I just am not sure if giving one of the major redemption arcs to a former Confederate works the way the film thinks it does. #HATM
unlabelledView post →#JulyMovieChallenge #Moviesky #Filmsky 20. Native American in a movie. Hostiles (2017)
unlabelledView post →I watched a bit of the movie “Hostiles” with Christian Bale and I drew him because j loved his moustache and how cool he was in the movie
unlabelledView post →Hostiles. Great movie. I rewatched it again recently.
unlabelledView post →A fraction of the phenomenal cinematography in “Hostiles” (2017) #WestWed #Hostiles
unlabelledView post →Tonight’s movie: HOSTILES, one of my favorites. A revisionist western that deals with themes of trauma, grief, reconciliation, and the treatment of Native peoples in America. Seems like an appropriate choice for Independence Day.
unlabelledView post →I also thought highly of Bale’s performance in “Hostiles,” a film that conveys insights into the complex relationships between Indigenous peoples and whites in post-Civil War America.
unlabelledView post →FLASHBACK: On a day like today exactly eight years ago, December 14th 2017, Robert Pattinson attended the premiere of Scott Cooper's movie HOSTILES where he was photographed while talking to actress Joanelle Romero in Beverly Hills, CA/USA.
unlabelledView post →I like to think he just wanders through the wilds of America, and just wanders into whatever movie happens to be shooting. #Hostiles #HATM
unlabelledView post →#HATM #Hostiles What's your favorite film with Christian Bale in it? I'll go first...The Dark Knight.

unlabelledView post →I’m pretty sure I have seen this one (because Christian Bale) but it’s weird how I don’t remember much of it. Maybe my colonizer ancestry guilt complex blocked it out? #HATM #HistoriansAtTheMovies #WatchParty #Hostiles
unlabelledView post →Ok joining #westwed to watch #Hostiles, and I figured out how to post! lol watch out. I joined you all a few weeks back for the Mathew McCaunaghey film but couldn't figure out how to post here.
unlabelledView post →#NowWatching Hostiles (2017).
unlabelledView post →Tonight’s movie: HOSTILES, a personal favorite. Directed by Scott Cooper and starring Christian Bale, Rosamund Pike, and Wes Studi. It got mixed reviews and isn’t without some problematic elements, but it powerfully deals with themes of trauma, grief, and reconciliation.
unlabelledView post →I think it's Hostiles. Staring Wes Studi and Christian Bale. Good film, IMHO.
unlabelledView post →I don't mind The Pale Blue Eye, but Bale isn't especially great in it. Ford v Ferrari is a good shout, though I don't think I really liked it all that much. Hostiles is what I was thinking about, and that is a decade old now. And his next film - David O Russell American football film with Nic Cage.
unlabelledView post →“Hostiles” (2017) is a frontier/western movie in which a U.S. soldier has to escort a Native chief and enemy to his native land. Slow burn with strong acting and great vistas. 🇺🇸 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
unlabelledView post →I never saw “Hostiles” when it was released in 2017. Fantastic film w/wonderful characters starring Christian Bale, Rosamund Pike, Wes Studi, Jesse Plemons, Jonathan Majors, etc. #FilmSky
unlabelledView post →Next up was Hostiles from 2017. I still think its crazy how little interest there was for this movie on the award circuit, cause it's heartfelt, deeply reflective experience of a film. A very underrated Western in the pantheon.
unlabelledView post →this scene/scenario reminds me of #Hostiles, which we watched a while back #Westwed . different outcome here...
unlabelledView post →Well this movie starts fast 😳#Hostiles #HATM

unlabelledView post →#HATM #Hostiles I'll join for a bit this evening! This is my first time watching this film.
unlabelledView post →We just watched an older movie with Christian Bale (Hostiles) & at heart it’s about combat PTSD. Mankind has just found more awful ways to wage war & we always seem to quit caring what happened to our veterans once their fighting days are over.
unlabelledView post →#Movies #Westerns Just finished streaming the #Hostiles (2017) starring Christian Bale, Rosamund Pike & Wes Studi which was a slog. The movie is mainly about an Army Captain (Bale), who hates Indians but who is ordered to return a dying Cheyenne chief (Studi) to his ancestral lands in Montana before he is mustered out of the Army. The trail of the detail is littered with bodies & almost everyone dies but somehow the Captain & the Chief reach a reconciliation before the Chief dies & the Captain…

unlabelledView post →Reflective #2: I'm watching the film Hostiles with Christian Bale and Rosamund Pike. Forty minutes in and I suspect it is going to be a hard watch, in my present state. Set in 1892. That is less than two lifetimes ago. Sometimes it doesn't feel like we have come very far. 2/2
unlabelledView post →Hostiles. Wonderful movie!
unlabelledView post →From a rarely seen, faceless menace to the movie Hostiles; a play on the term for “Indians” but v clearly branding the conquering settler community and US Cavalry
unlabelledView post →I worked on Hostiles. I enjoyed it as a film as well. Fab cast and crew! #NMFILM
unlabelledView post →Hostiles est le seul film de lui que j'ai vraiment aimé
unlabelledView post →This movie is very meditative and has a great ascetic, but not a film for everyone. Reminded me of the film the great Scott Cooper film "Hostiles" or even the Kim Ki-duk film "Spring, Summer, Fall, Winter... and Spring"
unlabelledView post →Hostiles sure is a pretty movie. Brutal, but this thing looks great.
unlabelledView post →I watched a movie last night called "Hostiles" with Christian Bale. I recommend everyone watch this movie. It is about how an old Indian Chief and a hardened army Captain were forced to change their minds about each other. www.youtube.com/watch?v=1M5c...
unlabelledView post →Hostiles was an amazing movie that I don’t think I can bring myself to watch again
unlabelledView post →The movie "Hostiles" was released in 2017. Near the end of the movie. There is a funeral scene for Chief Yellow Hawk (Wes Studi). I had never seen this form of native American burials. During my recovery from a Jeep accident while serving in the Army, 1986. I dreamt that I had this burial for me.
unlabelledView post →I haven’t seen that one. I grew watching westerns with my grandparents. I always hated them. Now I like a lot of them. And the genre is nostalgic. I loved the movie Hostiles. I’ve loved Taylor Sheridan’s movies tho he seems like a dick. There also an amazing Jimmy Stewart western that was 1/2
unlabelledView post →I didn't totally love the movie Hostiles, but I think about its final scene all the time. Also, The Lost City of Z, Legally Blonde, The Apartment, Working Girl, and Roman Holiday.
unlabelledView post →Great movie. I’d also recommend Hostiles with Bale.
unlabelledView post →Hostiles was a pretty good film and western. Interesting commentary on the violence of The West and America overall. Possibly something of redemption and old soldiers transitioning. I enjoyed it but didn’t love it. 3/5 I suppose. Good acting. Methodically paced.
unlabelledView post →Still the Marshalls are part of the executive branch. Why do people follow orders like ICE? The 1st who steps out line gets it. One side plays by the rules, the other side doesn't. Where's Fletcher Christian? BTW if you haven't seen it I highly recommend the movie Hostiles with Christian Bale.
unlabelledView post →Good morning! How are you? Making breakfast I see. I finished Derry Girls, then started Father Ted, but stopped to watch Hostiles with Christian Bale. After I recover from that movie, I'll start Father Ted again.
unlabelledView post →Hmm. Movie night. Hostiles or Skin?

unlabelledView post →Any suggestions for a rainy Sunday afternoon movie? I think I've exhausted all streaming options and currently rewatching "Hostiles" on Tubi for the 3rd time. Almost any genre-- mystery, thriller, scifi, western, action/adventure. Even a decent rom-com might do.

unlabelledView post →I really liked Deadwood. And the movie they made after the series ended. I also liked the movie Hostiles and the 3:10 to Yuma remake. LOTM is just stellar. If you're willing to go more modern then, Justified, Longmire, & Territory are good - not as devastating as AP, though. Any recommendations?
